December catch-all - OTA

What: A December Catch-all.

Warnings: Mentions/description of self-harm, in the context of harming oneself to practice healing magic, and blood.
TRAINING GROUNDS | A.
[ So, this is a problem.
Lily’s magic is healing magic. Putting aside how pissed-off she is about that for a moment, that means that training it… isn’t so easy. She needs an injury to heal, after all – and as far as she can tell, no-one around her is injured. Not that she’s interested in learning to heal others, anyway, but...
That leaves one, rather obvious solution – at least as far as Lily is concerned. She needs to injure herself.
She’s considered cutting herself. It’d be the simplest way to go about things, she thinks. But… as much as she hates to admit it, she doesn’t think she could do that. The sight of blood, even now, is… still too much for her to handle... the very thought of it makes her feel sick to the stomach. Lily swallows, trying to force down the uncomfortable feelings stirring within her as an image of her arm, sliced open and covered in that thick red blood, comes to her mind unbidden.
…Just like always, the more she tries not to think of it, the worse it becomes…
That aside, though, there’s one thing left she can think to do. Which is why, turning to you, she asks with a completely straight face- ]
Hey, can you punch me? I want to try something.

[ So Lily is seriously considering her options, here.
She’s not interested in the whole saving-the-world thing. Wants no part in it at all. That much she knows for sure.
Honestly, the fact that they’ve basically kidnapped her from her home and force her into a fight that she has no interest in, all so that she can clean up a mess that they caused themselves… It pisses her off beyond belief.
But… she has to think things through seriously. Because it’s not so easy for Lily to just go and abandon the mission.
She doesn’t want to make an enemy of the wrong people, for one thing. Right now, the people in charge of this place – at least, she assumes they are - are letting her stay for free in a hotel. If she refuses to go along with them any longer, will they still allow her to? Somehow, she doubts that they will. And that’s one of the better outcomes she can think of…
She could go along with it for now. See how dangerous these quests are, and make a run for it if things get more than she can handle. Wait until she’s able to make an independent living, until she knows more about this place.
But… every part of her body is screaming at her, telling her it’s a bad idea. She knows why. She knows exactly what might happen if she starts to help. Besides, she’s a healer – they’re going to expect her to protect everyone, without caring what happens to her because of it. And there’s always – always – a cost.
I’m stronger than that, she tells herself. It’ll be fine. But…
With a sigh, Lily sits down on the bench just behind her, not noticing the presence of the stranger already sitting down next to her at all. ]

[Because while he's happy to give it a shot, he absolutely wants to know if she's trying a throw or something, in response. Or that magic that moves things around.]

[ She's... a little reluctant to tell him that she's a healer, to be honest. But... chances are people will find out eventually, anyway... ]

You know. You could just go find the hospital and help out there. That seems a little less drastic than letting someone punch you.

Or wait until somebody here pulls a muscle or cuts themselves on accident. It's bound to happen sooner or later.

Still, she's not planning on helping out at a hospital any time soon - she doesn't need to get a reputation for that, and waiting until someone's injured sounds bothersome... more importantly, she wants to know if her powers even work on herself to begin with. It's possible that healing others and healing oneself work in entirely different ways.
When she speaks again, it's following a slight sigh that's just a little condescending. ]
