June Catch-All!

A: Overgrowth

Monster exterminations was something that Rose was quite used to. So when she saw a quest to take care of a Kraken problem, of course she had to try her hand at it.

As she approached the house, she could hear that the monster was no doubt making a mess of the place.

"Who in the world would mistake a creature like that for a octopus?"

B: Trowmies got my Homies

Rose carefully approached the tunnel system that would lead to the Trows home. It was a simple enough quest. Find to trows, beat them, and free the people whom they were currently keeping as pets. The only thing that would be of some difficulty was navigating the tunnel system and not get trapped inside. So going in without a plan would have been foolish.

"We should check to see if there are entrances before going in. That way, we at least have several escape routes if things go south."

C: The Beach

Helping with raising the ship was definitely an interesting experience, and it was a decent back up plan if the trials were a failure. Though to be magically put into a bikini wasn't something she expected. Oh well, at least she got to keep her sword through the whole thing.

Now that everything was done and over with, it was a chance to enjoy the beach. It had been a while since she let herself to enjoy such festivities. Though some may not think she was enjoying herself, since she mainly stayed off to the side on a towel watching other people have fun. But hey, she enjoyed people watching so this was fun to her. Though she does also get up and go in the water too.

D: Roaring Rescuers

Hearing about the kidnapping and cage fights triggered something in Rose. The Winglies did such things back before the Dragon Campaign. It wasn't uncommon to hear people from small farm villages being taken in order to be forced to fight in a gladiatorial ring for the amusement of others. Such acts made her sick and enraged. Needless to say if she caught someone whispering about kidnapping potential fighter, that someone may be found later in a back alley beaten to a bloody pulp.

So once she find the location where the cage fights were taking place, she doesn't hesitate. First she goes to free the captives while a fight was going on. But she doesn't stop there. Once she was sure the captives were able to get out safe, she heads to where the fights were taking place.

"These sick bastards want to see a fight? I will gladly show them one they will not forget anytime soon..."

There's probably something notable about a man with a dragon's soul teaming up with a lady with dragoon powers. Finn hasn't brought that up or even mentioned the whole Dragonborn thing. He just thought it would be a good idea to help out with a quest, as he's been want to do since he got here.

"I imagine the difference was less obvious when it was still small." He draws his dagger.

"Good point." There was some solid logic in that statement after all.

"You have to admit though, it grew quite large in such a short amount of time." It made her wonder about the other monsters in this realm. Were they always so deceiving when they were small, only to become fully grown and destructive a short while later?

Rose drew her sword when they got to the front door of the house and she looked to Finn. "Ready to go in?"

"That it did. Even slaughterfish and frostbite spiders don't get bigger right away, or at least note at the rate this kraken did." Of course, slaughterfish were the size of a moray eel and frostbite spiders tended to only get as big as a cow, but that was besides the point.

"Let's make like a sushi chef," Said like a man who only recently learned what sushi was. Darting forward, Finn sliced at the nearest tentacle with his dagger, leaving a huge gash in the rubbery flesh.

"Sushi chef?" She was still getting to the more modern terms that were common in this realm. Oh well, that wasn't important at the moment. They needed to concentrate on the monster before them.

She darted forward herself shortly after him. Sword drawn, she slashed at another tentacle close by, nearly severing it off. Below, they could hear the cries of pain that the Kraken made.

"Looks like we will need to fight our way downstairs to get to the main part of the body." Which wasn't going to be easy considering the tentacles everywhere.

"When in doubt, go for the body," Finn nodded. "I'll cover you." Summoning his familiar, a very large white spider that clung to him like a backpack, Finn made electricity crackle between his fingers, doing the mage equivalent of cracking his knuckles.

Dagger still in hand, he summoned a fireball to incapacitate the nearest tentacle.

Rose nodded and stood back as Finn did his magic. As soon as the tentacle goes down she rushed forward and jumped over the none moving appendage. Quickly, she slashed at another tentacle that had moved in front of her.

"Keep an eye out for stairs or even a hole in the floor that is big enough for us to go through." Though the stairs would be preferable. Jumping down through the floor, could risk them landing a bit too close to the creatures mouth.

"Let's hope that humans and elves aren't this thing's primary diet," Finn quipped, slicing a nearby tentacle lengthwise, flaying it like a piece of chicken. Another tentacle came at him and he instinctively yelled, "Iiz slen nus!"

Nothing happened and the tentacle knocked him back, causing him to land on his behind. Thankfully it was only just flailing about and hadn't hit him very hard. It still hurt, though. Raising his hand, he zapped the tentacle with lightning magic, making it drop. He scrambled back to his feet and avoided another tentacle as he looked for stairs.

Out of the corner of her eye, Rose saw Finn get knocked back. "Are you alright?" She called back to him as she sliced and severed another tentacle. Soa, how many tentacles did this thing have? Hopefully they didn't just regrow rapidly.

"It'll take more than this to bring me down," He'd suffered worse. Leaping over a small hole, his eyes darted around, spotting a way down. Finn waved and pointed downward. "There's a staircase over this way!"

"I see it!" Rose called out as soon as she saw the stairs he pointed out. She started to make her way over to them, leaping over a tentacle that was flailing about.

Finn summoned a stone slab and threw it at a nearby tentacle that was blocking the stairs. He made sure that Rose was right behind him before he began his descent, dagger in hand and fire crackling in his other hand.

Downstairs looked even worse than upstairs, including a pipe bursting out of the wall and spewing water.

With water spraying everywhere, it made for a prefect environment for the kraken. And it also left Rose and Finn soaking wet. Well, she suppose it could be worse. It was just water.

Cautiously she moved forward, her sword raised in case another stray tentacle comes their way.

With all the water, Finn didn't dare use electricity, lest he shock himself and Rose. Fire was probably out of the question too. Earth, wind and ice magic would still be helpful.

He froze a nearby tentacle before it could take a swing at them, descending further down. The tentacles were getting thicker, meaning they had to be nearing the body.

Rose severed another tentacle that was in there way. She could hear the screech of the monster getting louder. They were close but the main body still wasn't in sight.

"Soa, where is the rest of this thing?" And how many tentacles does it have? It felt like there was no end to them.

"Hopefully we don't have to dig for it," Finn quipped, summoning wind to shield them from more tentacles, surrounding them in a small tornado and blowing back the limbs.

As they went even lower, closer to the bottom of the basement, he saw that there was already a flood going and the tentacles waving up from the water. "It must be down there somewhere. Can you swim?"

Probably a silly question, but he had met people who never learned to swim.

Rose saw the flooding at the bottom of the stairs. "I can. It seems like a safe bet that whatever we are looking for is underwater."

She wasn't exactly looking forward to the swim though. Fighting something while underwater was always a disadvantage to the one who wasn't able to breathe underwater. That, and Soa knew what else was in the water other than the Kraken.

"And right after I promised myself no underwater adventures for a while," Seeing as he and the Mandalorian recently had to go to the bottom of a lake for monster fighting. He wished he had one of those water breathing potions right about now. Or the ability to cast such a spell.

"Maybe I can try to draw it closer to the surface so you can finish it off. Or we can swim below for it, and I can defend you with my magic."

"It would have the advantage if we were to try to battle it underwater. Drawing it out would give us a better chance."

Not exactly a true advantage but at least it was better than the other option.

"Okay, I'll swim down there and try to draw it closer to the surface. Then you can use that big sword of yours and make a pincushion out of it." Finn's good at pissing off monsters.

Taking a deep breath, Finn jumps into the water and swims down, doing his best to dodge the monster's tentacles. He summons two slabs of earth to act as shields as he swims as hard and fast as he can. The moment he spots the body, he hurls both earth slabs at it. That gets it attention.

Finn swims back upwards, the kraken following him. Once he breaches the surface and the kraken is above the water, he summons an ice path on the surface of the water, so Rose has a platform.
