🧙 WHO: Rosho and Sasara
⚔️️ WHAT: Sasara's still not a fan of rain so Rosho hopes making some teru teru bozu will help cheer him up
🕒 WHEN: first week of June
🗺️ WHERE: their house!
⚠️ WARNINGS: 🤪
[ The sudden rainfall itself wouldn't be so much of a problem if it wasn't for the unbearable muggy heat that follows. It's terrible weather, and Rosho practically finds himself running home with his umbrella in order to get away from the mess outdoors and into the far cozier accommodations at his his and Sasara's new house. They've settled in pretty nicely over the past month and he's honestly relieved for them to have a place of their own instead of having to deal with the lack of personal necessities like a kitchen and living room, a big bed for the two of them, and plenty of space to share and decorate as they see fit.
Rosho shakes off the rain from his umbrella and fiddles with his house key in order to get in. It's quiet, though he's not all that surprised.
It's always quiet like this when it rains. He almost wishes he didn't have to leave Sasara alone when it rains but he can't neglect his teaching job just because of his boyfriend's unfortunate trauma. But, he's home now, and he intends to do whatever he can to help put Sasara in better spirits. ]
I'm home!
[ Hopefully, he has just the thing tucked away in the little shopping bag he's carrying around, a quick stop to the convenience store and a few other little things he hopes will do the trick. ]

The TV is going when his partner finally returns, any kinda show that resembled an afternoon program back home, that mix of news shuffled with entertainment. Sasara sits when he hears the door. ]
Yo! Welcome back!
[ It's a lot better than last time. He still seems a little worn, but maybe more from lazing around all day rather than the mood the sky's putting him in. Plus, the bag Rosho's bringing in looks like a snack offering—from the outside anyway—that's just it to make him get up, too. ]
Eh? Ya went and got dinner, already?
no subject
Of course not. With how often we had to pick up dinner on our own outside the inn, ya think I wanna keep gettin' take out and such?
[ Rosho slips off his dress shoes and puts the umbrella aside. ]
I brought home some dessert. I'll work on makin' dinner in a few minutes.
[ Just as it used to be, Rosho's always the one to make dinner. At least he's gotten less fussy about Sasara teaching himself to cook. ]
Your mood's a lot better. Would ya wanna do some crafts for a bit first?
no subject
[ Taking the words right out of Rosho's mouth. It's easier putting on a half-hearted show than the full program. Sasara doesn't feel great about it, giving it some thought, still it's better than not. Actually, on surface level he only seems disappointed by the lack of snacks his partner brought back, though it's quickly mitigated. ]
Teh! Want me to help out—!? [ This kitchen's so new, either Sasara is not banned from it yet, or precisely because of that. ]
Crafts, like the stuff they got up on the Board, ya mean? [ He had all day to check Avalon's web, so, naturally Sasara did. ] Hah... I don't think I've made any since I was a little kid.
[ It's a cute thought. ] Sure! It sounds fun, right?
no subject
I'm glad I was able to help.
[ He means that sincerely. ]
Now, you can help me in return if ya make some good teru teru bozu. Then maybe, you can at least help me with settin' up the table.
[ It's the best privilege he can offer Sasara. Yes, the kitchen is too new for his fumbling wiggly arms, but Rosho wants to keep him occupied so he's not just sitting around. ]
I was probably too little, I don't even remember, but doin' this sorta thing as adults isn't so bad.
[ Rosho finally gets to the coffee table and sets down the plastic bag, pulling out what is of course a cup of pudding along with a see through container of a cupcake loaded up on top with lots of frosting and some sprinkles. He also takes out a box of tissues and a ball of string he brought back from work. ] And it's kinda romantic, ya know? Helping the sprites with a wedding.
no subject
Ah, there's a song to it too, yeah!?
[ Though, he doesn't quite remember that one either. Sasara reaches for the cupcake automatically, and his stomach already says: "Forget about dinner!" Rosho's addition sorta saves that little cupcake's life, ya know. ]
Mm? [ Romantic, hm? ] A-hah! All in white, ya mean? [ Romantic... maybe, a little bit. his fingers tap on the thin plastic container—something that might, yet, still be more a thing of hunger than thoughtfulness. ]
Eh, or I suppose, if it stops raining it oughta make for a better celebration of it.
[ Even if Sasara has a little an easier time with it now, he'd still rather have it didn't go all day pouring down. Getting in a celebratory mood with it overhanging is difficult, but maybe the course of the evening'll make it right...and not just as rain. ]

Oh right, there is. I'd almost forgotten. I saw someone in the city willin' to teach people the song. ...ya know, now that we're adults, the song's pretty morbid.
[ Why are we teaching kids to give children sake and threatening to cut off their heads?? Weird. Hopefully the sprites don't get offended by the song.
Hearing the tap of the container, without even a single thought, Rosho pulls it out from under Sasara's hand and simply puts it on the farthest end of the table. No dessert. Not until you finish your task, Sasara! And Rosho continues as normal. ]
I get that they're rain sprites, but it's sorta weird to have a wedding in the rain. When you're not human you don't have to care much for human inconveniences though. I heard it's just natural to do this? In order to stop the rain.
[ And so it will probably dawn very easily on Sasara then, as Rosho goes to grab the rest of what they need, his face a little pink, why he wanted to do this in the first place. Putting together a little wedding with something as simple as a childhood tradition sounds fun, but really, he wants Sasara to be back to his usual self as quickly as possible. The less he has to worry about the rain and not be reminded of something painful, the better. ]

[ Sasara would have joined in, ya bet. Figuring the sprites don't know the song, since Camelot isn't Japan, it should be fine. They oughta be happy someone else is decorating for their wedding so they don't have to do it, too. ]
HA—!!? [ Surprise! Shock!! Sasara's hands slap down on the table... empty... Eyes on the prize, the cupcake— GLOOM! And he can't believe Rosho just goes on like nothing happened TT_TT Uehh....
Still, his partner's teacher-ness forces him to pay attention; something like that. Actually, Sasara has an inkling when he sees him blush just faintly. He's so thoughtful. ] Ah, Rosho... [ He sits up a little more, recovering from the cupcake loss, from the dreariness of the weather that's hanging around—even if it's easier now. There's a smile, not as wide, but also not any less genuine than Sasara's best, his usual.
Alright. [ Now he's just that ready, taking the ball of string with
very nearlythe same zeal as he'd grabbed the cake. ]Ya gotta make one too, before ya start cooking, though!
no subject
I will, I will. I'm not dumping this whole project on you, I promise. [ He gives a laugh as he pulls out a few sheets of tissue, rolling some up into a ball to help form the shap needed for the doll. ]
Wonder how many we have to make... the board didn't say so. We should probably make extra, just in case.
[ Would be a shame to leave a sprite without a partner for a wedding! ]
no subject
Where are those safety scissors...? ]
Hmm... how about—! [ He's pulling the string out way too long, in some arms-stretched-out-wide-gesture.] Just plenty to cover all our windows!
[ Well, this place is a lot bigger than the inn...! ] I suppose, if there's any sense to it, the more we make the sooner it oughta stop the rain, yeah?
no subject
[ Their windows will be a bit cluttered but he assumes the sprites will just take the dolls off of their hands, so they wouldn't have to worry about removing them, and even if there are leftovers it'll be way less than what they started with. ]
I guess that explains why ya see so many of them in the windows at times. Like, before sports day? Suppose the more of 'em there are that means it's definitely way less likely to rain.
[ He never thought about there being rules to how teru teru bozu works. Of course it just makes sense that once they're adults they actually start to think of the legitimacy of these things, little childhood habits that you just did because it seemed fun or it made sense at the time. ]
Well, we're gonna be busy, so we'll see how many we can make. If ya want I can make the dolls and you can tie them with the string. Afterward, we draw the faces together.
no subject
[ Having it rain in June is kind of a waste... Ya oughta enjoy summer before it gets too hot all over. Making teru teru bozu, it makes sense for it to do the trick in a magical place like this, but if it works now they should really try it more back home too. In that case, Sasara might still suggest to make as many even without the sprites to take them away. ]
Aha! We're gonna make that many more if we split it like so, right? [ Being the perfect duo, that's something ya just can't shake. Sasara is dropping the string to get scissors after all. Rosho can yell at him not to run with them...! ]
no subject
[ But Rosho's a grown adult, he can't be putting up tissue dolls up on his windows. He lives in an apartment so it'd be pretty embarrassing to be caught and have someone assume he had a kid of his own that did it!
It's still a little embarrassing to be doing this sort of thing now, but at least it has a more definite purpose, and not only is it for the sprites, he wants to do it for Sasara too.
He gets roped into a lot of things just for him. He watches idly as Sasara stands up to get something, continuing to roll up a few balls, wrapping the tissue over it. ]
In this case, the more the better. And it's our house. We can do whatever we want.
