[Closed] We're like the trees in the wind
🧙 WHO: Claire and some friends
⚔️️ WHAT: June Quests
đź•’ WHEN: June
🗺️ WHERE: Throughout Avalon
⚠️ WARNINGS: Violence, Language, Claire's usual CWs for zombie related horror.
Trowmies got my Homies:
Trow were creatures that Claire was not overly familiar with, but she figured that they couldn't be any worse than trolls, ogres, and any of the other nonsense that she'd had to fight here. So, when the quest had gone up, she'd readily agreed to take it on like any good knight should. That led her, once again, to be standing outside of a dark tunnel leading into a cavern filled with beasties that would happily kill her with The Dog snuffling around the entrance and a friend at her side.
"So. What do you know about Trow? I honestly haven't encountered them before. Have you?"
It's a simple question, and very much a know your enemy sort of thing. Maybe she should've checked into this before she'd come all the way out here, but too late now.
Overgrowth
A Kraken inside a house was almost comical. It sounded so ridiculous when she'd heard it, because the word kraken called to mind the monstrous beastie she and Darin had helped avoid a hunter during the spring. Something huge, something capable of swallowing whole houses, but apparently this one was small enough to be within.
The noise of it thrashing around the cottage made her wince, as did the sight of something large and purple moving past a window from the inside. This was going to be one of those ugly, knock-down, drag-out sort of things, wasn't it?
"Well." Claire reaches up to the door handle, gun in her free hand. "No time like the present, I suppose. You ready?"

"Well." Claire reaches up to the door handle, gun in her free hand. "No time like the present, I suppose. You ready?"

The Trow thrashes some, but Claire's ready. The shadows constrict it, tight. Squeezing around it's neck until it stops moving. Just a little strangling, that's all.
When she releases it, it's still breathing, but it's definitely unconscious.
"...That's two."
no subject
She begins to sniff off the scents again, wondering where it could be coming from, which Harry understands as her helping out in tracking down the Trows along with the Dog.
“Oh hey, Rose is sniffing out another trace of scent, but I’m not sure where it is coming from,” he speaks up as he is trying to find the next location to find the other trows.
no subject
That seems sensible enough. The Dog nods and shifts into his spectral form, moving closer and waiting.
"Assuming she's okay with that."
no subject
Rose softly squeaks as a reply before she begins her scent sniffing towards a scent she has found near a door back at the barrel where the second trow was sitting on. Harry quietly approaches the door, uncertain of what could be behind it, while Hedwig flies in after them, but there is another clue of somebody being inside when the three of them start hearing noises inside.
“Hey look, the scent is coming from whatever is inside the door,” Harry alerts Claire to where Rose has sniffed out.
no subject
Slipping through the wall like the specter he is, the familiar returns a few moments later and nods.
"Two trow. Two humans. Humans are asleep. Both have their backs to the door so you could probably jump them no problem."
With a look to Harry, Claire asks.
"Well. Thoughts?"
no subject
They have to be very careful as not to make so much noises that could disturb the trows and catch them as the result.
“Got any ideas of how to deal with the two trows?” he wonders.
no subject
Claire lifts her pistol, shrugging casually as she brings it into view. She hasn't used it yet this trek, but now feels like the right time. She can magic one away, for sure, but two is a bit much.
"...There's two. And my gun's magic, so it doesn't make a lot of noise. The walls should muffle the noise."
no subject
He thinks about the said location as much as possible, looks at the sleeping persons in questions and, with a quick snap of the fingers, teleports them to the location in no time. Hopefully the trows don’t notice them being gone after he whisks them away from the cave.
no subject
The two trow slump to the floor, slowly sagging as blood seeps out of their wounds.
"...And two more done."
no subject
Hedwig also senses something nearby as well as she ruffles her feathers and hoots quietly in concern.
So Harry lets Rose to sniff out the scent trail that leads the group into another path, winding down into a doorway. He doesn’t want to jump in too early as it might cause the trows to be on high alert, but he did a quick peek of what is going on over there before letting the Dog to do a more thorough search.
no subject
The Dog looks up at Hedwig and then darts on ahead. Still hidden, he moves quickly and does a sweep before returning to the group.
Grimly, he relays the information.
"Two more up ahead. Sober. Might be a real fight now, if you're ready. They're sitting around playing cards."
no subject
“Well, this is going to be interesting to deal with those sober trows over there,” he admits to her, “I am struggling to find a way to deal with them right now, got any suggestions?”
no subject
She looks down at her gun, shaking her head. That would work, but only if they didn't move. Which, well...
"Remember the cart, Harry? The distraction from that hunter's house? Think you could roll something ridiculous through the room, maybe? If you get their attention, I can slip in and shoot them."
no subject
He checks around to find something down for the trows to get distracted by when he sees some barrels nearby. Thinking back to the rolling cart, he proceeds to use kinetic magic on the barrels to roll down across the room for the trows to look at.
no subject
Claire gets herself ready, moving to a place near the door where she can jump in and surprise the trow from behind. Sure enough, the barrel gets their attention. They leap to their feet and start running in the direction it had come from. It's just a barrel, meaning it probably was pushed, and that plays right into Claire's trap.
"GET DA HUMAN!" they yell as soon as they see Harry, but they aren't long for this world. Since they've given her what she wants, Claire steps wide to get clear shot and her gun barks twice. Her aim is good, and the pair fall to the ground at Harry's feet, bulletholes in their skulls
no subject
Rose squeaks again after witnessing Claire taking out the last two trows, craning her head a bit to see the aftermath, whereas Hedwig hoots rather softly while checking around the path they had taken earlier.
no subject
She looks down to Rose, head tilting.
"You wanna go check that last room, Rosie?"
no subject
Rose squeaks in joy as she begins her next sniff search once again on what is behind the door. Harry’s now hoping that there are no more trows to run into again and that maybe there could be missing people he and Claire will need to rescue. So far, Rose is sniffing multiple times just to make sure that there is no trace of trow scent in the room.
no subject
"Well, Rose? Think it's safe?"
no subject
“Rose is trying to tell that apparently the human inside could have possibly gotten into a fight with a trow before, that could explain why she could have sniff out the blood on the person,” he explains, “We might need to check out them just to be sure if they’re still okay.”
no subject
Claire doesn't hesitate. She grabs the doorknob and pulls it open, revealing a couple of men inside. They shy away from the door, and they're definitely cut in several places. Bleeding, but not fatally so.
"Hey. We're here to help. You guys are safe."
Waving to Harry...
"Can you teleport them out of here?"
no subject
They’ll need a lot of medical help from healers for the men’s injuries, but right now, getting them out of the cave before the trows will notice is the main priority. Harry closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and begins the teleporting process on the men.
As he teleports them to safety, he is slowly feeling slightly tired as he exerts much of his magic and energy into the teleporting the people away from the trows’ cave. Rose is also feeling slightly drowsy too as she assists him in the process.
no subject
"Easy there, Potter. Let's get out of here, but don't overdo it."
no subject
Once he was able to teleport the last human in the room, he could barely stand on his own legs while Rose is now taking a snooze on his shoulder.
