[ The beach! Yuzu would be lying if she said she wasn't excited about going, even if it was for magically fixing up a ship. Her clothes were promptly transformed into a very cute pink frilly bikini that she actually liked quite a lot!

Of course, just having a swimsuit isn't enough when you need to be able to breathe underwater. Fortunately, Yuzu's Animal Magic was going to come in handy today! ]

Alright, Yuzu... just like you practiced...

[ Yuzu focuses, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath... while the lower half of her body starts to glow and change shape. When Yuzu opens her eyes, her appearance had changed to basically be, for the lack of a better word, a Mermaid with gills and everything. Her bikini bottom had disappeared in the process, of course, but it would be back when she regained her legs... and she of course still had her top on.

She's not sure how great she'll be at the scavenger hunt, but she has healing magic... so she'll be able to find anyone suffocating or running out of air and swim them back to the surface, and even heal them from their oxygen deprivation. ]

[2] BEACH EPISODE!!! (Beach episode mingle)

[ Finally! They can all relax and have fun! Now that they aren't performing a ritual in the water or diving into a sunken shipwreck, Yuzu's no longer using her mermaid form anymore... but hey! She's still just as cute with her swimsuit as well! She's mostly just around having fun, whether it's smashing watermelons, shooting others with a water gun playing games, or just floating around in the water relaxing... this is a good day. ]

A. Watermelon Smashing: [ Yuzu can be seen right now with a blindfold covering her eyes and a bat in her hands, raised over her head as she walks around trying to find the watermelon... which is a little nearby, but at the moment not directly in front of her. She'll probably need a bit of help, since all of the directions being shouted at her right now are confusing her more than anything else. ]

B. Water Fun: [ What kind of person spends time at the beach and doesn't spend time in the water? It's not Yuzu, that's for sure. Maybe you see her floating around in the water and you wanna say hello, or maybe she spots you in the water, and she sneaks up on you underwater before suddenly bursting out of the water to splash you with an excited smile on her face. After the tests that Celliwig put them through, a beach episode like this is exactly what Yuzu needed. ]

Should Yuzu swim on down, she would find Homura, with her own bikini of course, with her eyes closed, the only thing moving were her legs to keep her from sinking too low, and her fingers in using elemental magic to keep herself under the water. So focused on the task, she hardly noticed Yuzu until she came into range.

Eyes slowly opened before widening. What the hell!? Was this another Siren or something? The shock had caused Homura to break her concentration, frantically trying to swim back up.

[ Yuzu had seen Homura's bikini and, frankly, holy shit was it beautiful... in many ways that brought out all of the gay in Yuzu's bi heart. Eventually though, she did come into range to say hello... only to be surprised by Homura's reaction.

She was worried about her and quickly swam after her, grabbing her by the shoulders and yelling—with a voice that was shockingly clear under the water— ]

It's me! Homura, it's me! I'm using Animal Magic!

[ ...provided that whatever bubble of air Homura was using with her magic was still there. If Homura is in any danger of drowning, then she'd be skipping dialogue in general in order to pull Homura to the surface. She was a much faster swimmer like this, after all. ]

[Unfortunately, Homura still hadn't gotten used to using magic to sustain her breathing in water, not like in the way she needed to know. Even last month, she was given something to help significantly. She would still be trying to flee to the surface, using wind magic to accelerate her swimming. Whatever this was, she needed more air and time to figure things out.]

[ Yuzu will help out, wrapping her arms around Homura's waist and kicking her legs—er, tail to considerably speed up how fast they reach the surface. At which point, once they've surfaced... ]

Homura, it's me! I'm using magic!

[Homura frantically tried to use more wind magic when caught. Almost there. She could jump out and strike whoever--

And then the moment she took in a breath and heard Yuzu, she paused, eyes widening.]

...Oh, I uh...didn't know this was a thing.

[Now this felt awkward and was she still being hugged?]

Ah, sorry!

[ She just realized how closely she was holding Homura and quickly lets go, fumbling and falling backward, causing large splashes in the water. Her face is as pink as her hair right now, as her arms had been directly under Homura's, er, sizable chest... ]

Y-Yeah, Animal Magic lets me do stuff like this...

[Homura was mostly able to suppress the blush, mostly. She had been more intrigued by those abilities though.]

Here I thought you could only transform into the animals themselves, not take traits. Might have to tell Ken. [Assuming he didn't already know.]

But sorry for the panic. I should have been more aware and less...well less of that mess.

Well, I can but... we're scavenging a shipwreck right? I've put a lot of practice into partial transformations, and I figured having my arms and hands would help in like... picking stuff up and pulling people out of the water if they're in danger.

[ Sound logic, even if it did mean that she had to come back up to take breaks from her mermaid form every now and then. ]

Sorry I interrupted you, though... if you want, you can hold onto me and I can get us to the shipwreck faster!

It's a good thing to know. With more training, you could seriously be dangerous in a fight.

[All said with a smile as Homura acknowledged the combat abilities.]

Alright. I'm willing to take the ride. Wanted to get more practice, but I'll have plenty of time later.

Alright then! Get ready to make a bubble for breathing, and hold on to me, okay?

[ She'll dive under the water, but stick close to Homura so that she can go under as well with whatever magical means of breathing underwater she chooses. After that, well... wrap your arms around Yuzu's waist, she supposes. ]

[She nods, creating the bubble. Though not fully mastered, it should work well enough as she grabs onto Yuzu's waist. It was an interesting experience though, exploring the water like this. This beach clearly had a much deeper pool of water than anything she could swim in; thanks to plans she made, there was no time to ever explore on her own.]

[Now that it's actually getting hot out, Ochako can spend some time down the beach not only running, training, and practicing her martial arts, but actually swimming and sunbathing. Aludra is even wth her this time around, but doesn't go towards the water, taking to curling up in a shady spot on the sand to get some afternoon z's.

After setting up her things, and removing her athletic shorts and sneakers, Ochako is heading into the water. She's still keeping her top on over her swimsuit top, a bit self-conscious of the nasty looking scar on her midsection...from where she was bitten and poisoned by a giant spider a month or two ago. As she gets into the brisk water about waist deep, she bends at the knees to douse herself a bit more, cupping some water in her hands and splashing it on her face.]

Haah... so refreshi--eh? [What are those bubbles? And the dark shadow in the wat--SPLOOOOSH!!] EYAAAAHHH!!

Ahaha! Hey, Ochako-chan!

[ Sorry, Ochako, she couldn't resist when she saw you! She's even got one of the water guns that were being handed out. Carefree fun is the best kind of fun, and beaches reminded Yuzu of home. Basically, her cheerfulness was at an all-time-high right now. Sorry, Ochako, but you're getting fully splashed. ]

[She definitely is getting splashed, and only when she realizes it's a friend does the bit of surprise morph from a "oh god, oh man, oh god" feeling to an "oh you bitch (affectionate)" sort of feeling. Ochako laughs with a bit of a squeal as she gets up and tries to wade away, guarding her face and wiping the water off it.]

Yuzu-chan, no fair!! Sneak attacks like that are cheating, ahahah!!

[And, of course, she's going to smack the water back at her!! En garde!]

[ Yuzu squeals a bit in response, quickly returning fire with splashes of her own. ]

All’s fair in war, Ochako-chan! Hah!

[Oh no you don't!! Holding up her hands, Ochako grins and feels her magic surge to life, stopping the splash of water coming at her and forcing it back at Yuzu instead.]

Then you won't mind if I do that!!

Kyaah!

[ Dang, magic is allowed then, isn't it! Unfortunately, at this part of the water, there aren't a lot of animals Yuzu can call upon for help. Too shallow, after all... but it's deep enough for Yuzu to do this! ]

In that case...!

[ There's a quick flash as she jumps backward into the water, a large pink fish tail suddenly replacing her legs as she uses her animal magic and gets some more use out of the mermaid tail she figured out how to use.

Immediately, the large movements of her tail cause an even larger surge of water to come at Ochako. ]

UWAAHH!!

[Whoa whoa, what the--j'excuse?! Ochako chokes and coughs on the water, wiping her faces and eyes (because she forgot to cover herself), because um...WHAT?? Her friend just sprouted a motherfucking fish tail?! How is that possible?! Was Yuzu a mermaid all this time and never once thought to tell Ochako or something? Firstly, rude. Secondly, BRUH WHAT.

Pushing the wet hair from her face, Ochako sloshes over through the shallow, waist-deep water, waving her arms a time. Time! Time out a sec!!]

Y-You--! Yuzu-chan is a mermaid?! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!

[ AHAHA!! That's the exact kind of reaction Yuzu was fishing (pun not entirely unintended) for. She can't help but burst out laughing a bit as Ochako sputters about her new appearance. ]

Ahaha! Ochako-chan, your face...!

[ Listen, as an entertainer, it's satisfying when you get the kind of reaction you're aiming for... especially when this is the kind of reaction. Still, probably best not to keep up some kind of misunderstanding about Yuzu secretly being some kind of sacred fish creature. ]

No no, it's animal magic! I just transformed partially!

[ Partially meaning the new existence of fins, a large fishy tail, and even some pink fish scales on her shoulders. ]

[Welp, Yuzu was right, thinking to get a rouse out of Ochako - she's easily excitable and very energetic. Hence why she gets on so well with the other, equally energetic girls in her class, they are similar in that way, though Hagakure has even Ochako beat in the 'genki' department. Huffing a bit at the slight bit of Teasing, Ochako wrings out her t-shirt covering up a bit of her top half...and Yuzu might get a brief glimpse of the scar on her abdomen, just below her ribcage. Just for a moment, before Ochako covers it again.]

Oooh, that's right!! I forgot that type of magic could turn you into animals. I only ever saw it used twice, and each time it was a full transformation, so this is really cool! I wonder what kind of fish this is...I've never seen one so pink and colorful before... Heeeh, it's really cute!

[Perhaps a pink zebra fish?]

Ehe, thanks! It's kind of strange how partial transformations are harder than full transformations, but I managed to pull it off!

[ After all, shouldn't it be easier to only transform parts of yourself rather than transforming entirely? Well, it doesn't matter that much... especially since Yuzu has a much better angle on Ochako in terms of seeing that scar. Her legs are a tail now, after all... she's lower than Ochako because she can't stand.

Later she'll probably beat herself up about this, thinking that it's pretty insensitive... but when she sees that scar, she just... speaks up without thinking. ]

O-Ochako-chan, did you get hurt!?

[Ochako's just about to say something, opening her mouth to agree - a partial transformation would be harder to manage because it takes far more control than a complete one. It's actually the same with Ochako's elemental magic, too! She can create a huge blaze of flame, shock of lightning, and a literal tornado...but tiny puffs of fire, gusts of wind, and anything like that are actually much, much harder for her to do, and she's had to train her magic a lot harder that way.

But none of that is said because Ochako gets caught a bit off guard by Yuzu spotting her scar, looking down a bit as she drops the wet garment to cover it back up again. Ah...shit. Didn't mean to show that off. She's tried to avoid in, because it's so ugly and gross, and Ochako doesn't want to worry anyone, but...kind of hard, it seems.]

Ah, eeh...ehehe, yeah, b-but it was a while back, so don't worry!! Just a little accident during a quest, and it doesn't hurt anymore or anything! I promise, it's just a really ugly looking scar...but Heroes have plenty of those, right? It just means I have to do better next time! Besides, this isn't the only scar I have!

[she has a few, but they're way smaller, less visible, and have pretty much faded over time, too. The puncture wound on her thigh from where Toga got her during the summer training camp, tiny burn scars on her forearms from when she fought against Bakugou and guarded against his explosions, and just other things. This one is just...the biggie. And that's why she's a bit self-conscious about how gross it looks.]

[ Ochako, you have literally said nothing that makes Yuzu any less concerned. Still, being a Hero doesn't exactly sound like a "safe" job, and it looks like she's fine... but still!

She undoes her transformation, regaining her legs and standing back up. She... considers asking to try and heal it, but she's unfortunately aware that scars are... harder to heal than say an open wound. Still, how did she get such a terrible scar!? Her mind can't help but wander into thinking that she could have done something if she were there, but because she wasn't, something terrible happened to her friend.

It's a thought process that she knows is flawed. How could she have known? Still, she's practiced so much with Healing Magic, but she still hasn't even really done anything with it. It's just... a lot, and she won't bring it up. What she will do, however, is stand up straight now that she has her legs back and place her hands firmly on Ochako's shoulders. ]

Are you sure...?

[ The ever-present concern couldn't be more obvious on Yuzu's face. ]

[Being a Hero isn't a safe job. It never will be a safe job. Heroes literally risk their lives every single day for people, to keep them all safe from harm in all shapes and forms - villains, accidents, natural disasters...anything and everything. Ochako knows these things, expects it, and accepts it. It's perhaps why she wasn't even all that scared the first time that she nearly died. Shocked, more than anything, and definitely frustrated and embarrassed...not to mention guilty that she had to make anyone worry about her. That Izuku had to worry. It was her own stupid fault for being careless, being weak. The scar will serve as a reminder to grow and do better. Be better. If she can't do that, others will worry everyone else.

Like now.

Taking a deep, long breath in, Ochako closes her eyes and sets her hands atop Yuzu's, squeezing her fingers gently. After that long exhale out, Ochako looks Yuzu in the eye with a serious expression.]

I'm sure. [And just as quickly as it appeared, the look is gone and back to that usual, gentle smile.] I promise, Yuzu-chan, it's really nothing. What happened is over with, and to be perfectly honest...I'm sure things like that will happen again in the future, too. Here and back in my world. If I can't accept I might get banged up and earn a few scars...how can I expect to call myself a hero? I can't hesitate anymore. If I do, someone else could get hurt. Someone that doesn't know how to really protect themselves, or fight.

This is my reminder to grow stronger. Not just for me, but the people I want to protect. [And the people who will worry about her if anything worse does happen. Ochako has to grow so to keep them from worrying...and maintain their carefree smiles.]

[ Yuzu returns Ochako's gaze with her own, and she can tell that she's serious. She understood what she was trying to say, even if only a little bit. Even back when she found out that she was, for some reason, being targeted in an interdimensional war that not everybody knew about... she knows that she'd made a decision to do what she could instead of hide away.

Still, Ochako was her friend, so... ]

Alright, but... if you're ever in trouble, let me know, okay? These type of wounds... I can heal them. You're my friend, so I want to be able to help you...

[Yuzu and Ochako really are two very selfless individuals - perhaps that's why they're such good friends. Ochako would sooner destroy herself than see anyone else suffer - that's just the sort of person she is, Hero or no. She's kind, and always does her best to help those in need and support them. It's why her goal to become a good hero changed. A Hero who saves - that's who she wants to be.

She can't do that if she's afraid of the consequences, afraid of getting hurt, or collecting scars, or even getting killed. The trials taught her that difficult decisions have to be made sometimes, risks have to be taken...and when all other options have been snuffed, sacrifice is the only one left. It's not ideal, and certainly not something that even she wants to really do - Ochako will always look for a way around it - but...it exists. And if she hesitates even for a moment, she won't be the only one sacrificed.]

I will, I promise. If anything does go wrong, I'll know to reach out to you, okay? Or have one of my friends do it. But I'm going to train more and make sure that doesn't happen - so try not to worry too much, Yuzu-chan. Okay?

[ They really are... Yuzu may even be selfless to a fault. Depending on who it is, Yuzu would even put someone else's happiness over her own. Of course, you'd have to be pretty close to her for that to even be considered, but... it's simply because she's an idealistic girl. No matter what, she wants to find the solution that lets everybody smile. The smiles of others are important to her, it's why she's an entertainer after all.

In that sense... she admires Ochako. She comes from a world where people can be heroes of all things, and Ochako is a hero-in-training. Saving others must certainly bring smiles to others... ]

Alright... and I'll do the same. I'll keep training my magic so that you—or others—can rely on me!

[Likewise for Ochako - these two really do have that common quality trait. It's not always great, considering Ochako would rather eat less, practically starving herself, to save up money to give back to her parents. It's not glamorous, nor is it really the correct thing to do in the long run, but it's just...how she is sometimes. A little too selfless. Because she'd prefer to rip off pieces of herself to give to others than risk their happy smiles.

But Heroes are...still human. They still struggle, and they get hurt, scarred, broken, even killed. It's hard work, and Ochako has yet to face the very harsh reality of it. Even rescue Heroes, the kind she strives to be, face extreme difficulty and risk. Ground zero is where the worst of most disasters strike, and not everyone can be saved... Digging people our of wreckages also means digging out their bodies, sometimes. The pressure and stress is...not something that can easily be taught to her. It has to be experienced. And Ochako has to be ready to face it...or crumble.]

Ehehe, Yuzu-chan, you're really amazing, you know? I think you'd make a good hero, if you were ever to come to my world. [Seeing the resolute look in her eyes...it's admirable. Ochako takes a deep breath in, then holds out her hand as she looks to her friend seriously.] Let's make a promise.

To grow stronger, so no one has to worry, okay? And no matter what, we can't give up.

Mm, right! It's a promise!

[ She takes Ochako's hand and holds it firmly, smiling at Ochako. She appreciates what Ochako tells her... and she's right, they'll both get stronger so that no one has to worry. ]

Aha, thanks! I think you'd make a good duelist if you ever came to my world too.

[ Putting aside knowledge of how to duel, never giving up is one of the most important rules to follow when dueling. It's only over when your life points hit 0, after all... and even then, sometimes even that isn't the end. ]

Woah... I didn't know you could use animal magic like that.

[The teenager in a red and white bikini couldn't help but spot as Yuzu had shifted shape- Mukuro had changed into animals before, but never partially like that.]

...You're gonna help with the scavenger hunt, right?

Oh, Junko! Cute swimsuit!

[ She turns her head around a bit to see Mukuro there, and her first thought was that the swimsuit she'd chosen looked nice on her! She figured that someone like Junko who has set up fashion shows and the like might appreciate a compliment like that, so she'd given her honest opinion. ]

Well, it's a little harder to do than just normal transformations, but I put a lot of practice into this!

[ It's a little awkward to be sitting on the dock and only turning around her upper body to see her, so she lifts her large fish tail up and onto the dock so she can face Mukuro properly. ]

Yup, are you helping out as well?

Ah- thanks!

[The compliment came as a surprise to someone like her- but she covered it up quickly with a bright smile. The swimsuit itself was...too revealing for Mukuro to really be comfortable in it. Sure, it showed off the magical tattoos she'd gotten- the fireflies on her torso, and the death's-head hawkmoths amongst barbed wires on her thighs- but it also showed the multiple scars they were concealing.

She'd been trying to avoid the affects of Merlin's magic to keep her act up, but she'd certainly be more comfortable than she was now!]

And yeah I can imagine that's an ass to get right... I'm helping, yeah. Seriously no idea where to start though.

...I've been experimenting with giving myself claws, I wonder if it'd work with a fish tail.

It's weird, but the bigger the transformation, the easier it is really... must be why full transformations are easier.

[ Personally, Yuzu felt like it would normally be the other way around, right? Changing yourself into a completely different animal sounds harder than partially changing yourself, but here we are. ]

Truthfully, the fins are because it's hard to keep it limited to just my legs. [ She motions to the flowing fins on the sides of her head, also showing off the fins on her arms as well. ] The gills are definitely the hardest part, though.

[ She blushes, smiling a bit as well from the compliment. She appreciates it, having been hoping that it would still look good. Plus she still has the mermaid look down to a T, right?

In any case, she'll scoot herself to the side to make room for Mukuro, her tail still dangling into the water. ]

Hmm, how to explain it...

[ It always felt strange to explain how she managed it... hm... ]

I guess what I've done is the same as my regular full transformations, but I try to focus and sort of... push it down to my legs instead of letting it go everywhere? If that makes sense?

[ It's not the best explanation, she knows, but she wasn't really using any professional techniques here. She's mostly teaching herself whenever she gets the chance. ]

Ohh... yeah I think I get you. When I tried to give myself claws it was like- pushing the magic into my arms, like when you're using a combat knife or whatever, you know?

...This whole magic thing is seriously abstract though.

[For the time being, Mukuro kicked her feet in the water, hoping that would give her some sort of inspiration.]

Yeah! I guess that's a good way to put it!

[ Honestly, whatever works for her! It's bound to be different for everybody, after all. Though she does briefly raise an eyebrow at the specific analogy of using a combat knife. ]

It really is... though in the end, having an idea in your head that lets you sort of visualize it definitely helps. After that it's just... focusing on an animal, like a fish or a dolphin or something!

Yeah, I can see that...hm.

I wanna give it a go. After all if we're going underwater I'm gonna need to try and move and breathe affectively under there anyway.

[She took a deep breath, starting to try and focus her magic-]

Right? Don't worry too much, though!

[ Yuzu will do her best to cheer Mukuro on, since from here it's mostly Mukuro. Ganbare, Mukuro! Become a mermaid! ]

[It took Mukuro a little bit of time to get to grips with it, little scales rippling across her body before disappearing- this wasn't right. It was just like when she'd tried to manifest claws.

Focus.

Let the magic flow through.

After seemingly very little progress, a few things happened at once. A rush through her body as her feet shifted to red fins, black scales shooting up from there to cover her legs and take form into a mermaid tail- But it seemed opening herself up to that power meant Merlin's lingering magic added it's own little touch as it magically shifted her out of her disguise.

All in all, it left a rather flustered- but still rather cute red and black Mer-kuro.]

W-what...what the...

You did it! Aah—

[ Her eyes go wide at the sight, simply because she's surprised. The large blonde pigtails were suddenly gone, replaced with Mukuro's natural black hair... ]

Aah... you look so cute!

[ She sort of just... blurts it out. There's a lot of questions going through her head right now, like is this her natural hair color? Was her hair earlier a wig? Why was she wearing a wig?

But... at the same time, there was this feeling that this looked and felt more natural and right on her friend. ]

[She noticed the change in her hands first- her fingernails no longer decorated by the gaudy fake nails she wore, and the wolf tattoo on the back of her hand plainly visible.

And it was then she quickly moved her hands up to her hair, feeling the absence of those huge pigtails the exact same second she realised she couldn't feel the weight of that wig.

And then Yuzu's comment hit her.]

What- no, I'm- I'm not cute-

[She turned back to the water, seeing her reflection.]

...Oh crap. Um. This wasn't supposed to-

Aah—sorry! I sort of just, blurted that out...

[ Her cheeks go fully red... she just called another girl cute, after all! Still, you can't get much more genuine than the words of someone blurted out without thinking. ]

I didn't think you were wearing a wig... why?

[Well, now they were both blushing- Yuzu's flustered reaction being somewhat infectious to a girl with very low self-worth.

This sure was a good start to their quest! But how to even answer that question?]

It's...it's part of my image as a model, you know? The whole... well. I have to look good, right?

R-Really...?

[ That seems... odd, as well as annoying... who would want to wear a wig all the time? Especially with such big pigtails like that. Sure, Yuzu wears pigtails as well, but hers are her natural hair, and not nearly as big as what Mukuro was just wearing.

There's a bit of an awkward silence as both of them sit there blushing, but... ]

...I-I think you'd look better naturally. Y-You know, since it's always better when you're yourself...

[ Honestly, there'd always been something off whenever Yuzu looked at her... but it'd been subtle enough that she brushed it off. Now that she knows what her friend really looks like, though, she might prefer the natural look. ]
