🧙 WHO: Yuber, Geddoe
⚔️️ WHAT: A mercenary and an ancient chaos demon have a sassy conversation while surrounded by nosy dead people.
đź•’ WHEN: Before the Trials
🗺️ WHERE: Loch Manor
⚠️ WARNINGS: Spirits of the dead, Yuber
[When he moves his armor creaks. That's new... he hates it. Once upon a time he could move in complete silence.
There are footprints where he's been walking. He hates that too. Once upon a time he left no trace of his passing.
Despite this he wears a smirk upon his lips, visible beneath the dark visor of his horned helmet.
"You're smiling again."
Yuber tilts his head.]
Yes?
[His familiar sits back on her haunches and watches him through ember-like eyes. "Ever since those people yelled at you on the network you've been smiling. It's just an observation."
At this Yuber is silent a moment, then...]
They're angry. Some of them will try to kill me. Isn't it glorious?
[The bone dragon sighs, a sound like rustling autumn leaves. "Keeping you safe is getting tiresome."
He's about to tell her to not bother then when he notices a figure walking down the moonlit path towards the manor.
As Geddoe approaches he will see a man in heavy black armor sitting on the front stairs, unbound golden hair hanging around his shoulders. The knight does not rise to greet him.]

[Yuber stands and the spirit behind him fades away into the shadows.]
Once home to a serial killer and now haunted.
...Very haunted.
[He turns and walks up the steps to the heavy front door which he opens with a push from his gauntleted hand.]
But do not worry. The dead won't harm you. Come in.
[His faint grin wavers as he stifles a yawn. The anger he's managed to excite from people is fun but it's been a while since he's managed to cause proper chaos and enjoy some fire in his lungs.
The relative peace is making him feel lethargic.]

[fascinating place, though. A genuine haunting, not a word made up by the superstitious to explain what they don't understand. Far less threatening than a cavern full of Bone Knights and whatever the fuck that exploding ball thing was...
Geddoe still looks around warily as he ducks into the darkness, not positive this isn't some sort of trap]
I'm not going to spend all night lounging around here at your whim. Let's get down to business, Yuber.
no subject
[Yuber quietly prowls across the dark foyer into a candle lit dining hall. Here, he drops lazily into a chair and kicks his armored boots up on the table, making the assorted dusty plates and teacups jump in place.]
I spoke with the witch and saw the brink.
Have you seen it?
The Calamity is...beautiful.
no subject
[a pretty bland admission considering the topic]
I don't know what to call it, but I've seen it. I grasp the reality of it. So let's put that aside, take it as given. What next?
no subject
[He hooks a claw-like, armored finger at Geddoe.]
The only thing that can save us is chaos. I could save the Excalibur if only I had my power.
no subject
[it's not wrong; they'd all be much better off if they all had their true powers instead of the sad excuse for replacement magic they've been given. But there's still a point, there, that Geddoe finds hard to immediately agree with]
The only thing? I wonder. That said, I want my Rune's full strength as well. But I don't think this is a matter of going somewhere to find our missing powers, or threatening the right person to restore them. It has to be more complicated than that. [a low grumble of frustration; if it's that easy, why hasn't anywone else here thought to do it? Or managed to do it? Idiots, all of them.] So if you want my help trying to bully Merlin or whoever into giving our Runes back, you're out of luck.
no subject
He has powers that are uniquely his... Or at least he's fairly sure he does. Not everything he is capable of is tied to the Rune that has wrapped itself eight times around his heart.]
Tsk. Who spoke of bullying?
First, try bargaining. Merlin will not hear us but the mother of fairies might....
no subject
Fine, bargaining. I don't disagree...though, that depends on what these trials are supposed to entail.
[after that point, Geddoe's opinion will change, and probably not for the better. On the one hand, the trials are bullshit and he won't think much of the fairies afterward. On the other hand, it's possible a couple of morally gray fellows could wander into Faerie and get shit done without all this prancing around. Who knows? But it'll be worth looking into.]

[A strong breeze passes across the table, causing Yuber's long, golden hair to drift and dance around his obscured face.
He ignores it.]
These trials are supposed to prove Camelot worthy of entering Celliwig. I have my doubts that we will succeed.
no subject
...unfortunately, I have them too. So getting in is going to involve alternate methods. [somehow he expected that all along] Before the thought even crosses your mind, I have no interest in invading. It's crude and lacks imagination.
no subject
[Another breeze whips up around him, batting at his hair. He reaches up to adjust his helmet.]
But alas the dull humans of this world disagree.
So we are stuck with the trials which will likely judge this city on its morality.
no subject
I haven't been able to find out a single thing about the trials, no matter how carefully I looked. Celliwig keeps its secrets even closer than Harmonia. We'll find out soon enough, maybe things will change then.
[his opinion certainly will!]
Now, then. I came here to get your specific demands for this search you're putting me through. Let's get that over and done with, so if you feel like speculating about war some more afterward it won't take up valuable time.
no subject
Have somewhere to be, do you?
[He wiggles the armored boot still resting on the table from side to side as he childishly pouts.]
This place would suit me fine, were it farther from the city.
no subject
Well, as I can neither move buildings nor banish ghosts, you're hoping I can find another mansion that is equally unoccupied but somehow farther away. [snorts right back] I expect to find exactly zero of those just laying out there for the taking.
What is your lowest limit? Farther from the city is not an issue, but exactly how primitive are you willing to put up with? A blanket propped on sticks? A roof at minimum?
no subject
I shall need to be warm.
[His lips twist into a frown beneath his visor. He's visibly pouting.]
....What is may lowest limit?
[He's never been human before. Just trying to make sure he doesn't collapse from starvation or dehydration is new to him.
What do humans need in a home? Food, shelter, warmth...surely there is more than that.]
no subject
Well. Warmth may just mean a fire, but...you do know not to burn down your shelter, right? [RIGHT?!]
So camping is out. You want a house. As I said, I can't build, so it'll be finding one already made and abandoned. I have to say, it could be a nearly-impossible search. Wish me luck.
[he's droll about it, because he'll still undertake the search but hoo boy, anything to stop himself from suggesting Yuber find a lonely farm and kill the owner. Let's uh. Let's not do that.]
no subject
[He reaches up and tugs at a horn curling from his helmet.]
You will succeed or I will find myself a house and kill its occupant. Honoring our pact is the only reason I haven't done so already.
no subject
[that's all he's got. Deal done, all he needs to do now is go out and search]
Anything else? I should get started right away, sooner than later.
