"It'll be fine. Trust me!"
Zidane grinned as he looked back at Eustace.
"If you wanna, just... think of this as another chance to train."
It's not the training grounds, but it was an opportunity to practice maneuvering through the environment and tracking down a target. Maybe Eustace was already familiar enough with it, but they didn't really talk about stuff he normally did back home.

So he just stares at him, a brow slightly arched. When someone says, "It'll be fine, trust me!" usually that means something is going to happen and brings cause for doubt.
"I have no issues with hunting...but I'm starting to question if you're the one who would be getting more of a training exercise."
Although it is true that he could try using his magic to aid him in hunting since his primary weapon is handicapped and he hasn't tried for bigger game yet because of it.

He's in a tree when he hears the other two approaching. Chatting away. Oh - there's another person.
He watches for another moment before climbing down from the tree. "Zidane."
no subject
Really, how would Eustace handle this? And would Razor be okay?
Speaking of, Zidane grins when Razor climbs down from his tree. "Hey Razor! Ready to go hunting? Hope you don't mind I brought along a friend - thought it'd do him some good to hunt, too." AKA, it'd do him some good to meet more people, but shush, Eustace didn't like to talk about that. Also, he thought they might get along with their more subdued natures.
"Anyway, Eustace, this is Razor. Razor, this guy's Eustace. Don't worry, he looks intimidating, but he's good... just a little on the quiet side."
no subject
Anyway, his silent greeting will only confirm Zidane's statement.
no subject
"We hunt," he nods. He glanced towards Eustace again and addressed the elephant (or wolf) in the room. "Wolf?" he asked. His eyes landed on the other's ears and rested there.
"Or animal magic?"
no subject
Hearing Razor's question, don't mind Zidane answering once he notices where the kid's looking. "Actually, both! Those ears are Eustace's though."
He didn't even know Animal Magic could grant people animal-like features... and that might be weird for people that don't normally have those features anyway.
no subject
"I'm an Erune, though I suppose my ears are more canine in nature. Those of my race have similar animal-like ears and they can vary depending on the family and tribe."
Though he's also been likened as a "wolf" due to his personality and nature, but...that's not important.
"My familiar is a wolf if that matters."
no subject
It's a ghostly looking wolf in purple. Razor extends a hand towards it and the wolf nuzzles his finger tips, and he pets it gently. After a few moments, the familiar seems to know he's not needed here for real now.
"Family is wolf."
Which is the most sense he ever really makes when trying to explain the importance to him. Or why he even asked. It's pretty clear that he was raised by them.
no subject
"Hey, that's great. It's like family is always near."
And while Zidane doesn't know all the details about Razor, if his family were wolves, they were wolves. Though, looking at the spectral wolf familiar, Zidane wonders. "Huh, I wonder if Eria would get along with them." Because maybe Eustace should call her.
no subject
Looking in a particular direction, he just quietly calls out a name, "Eria."
In the next few moments, the leaves rustle and the snow white wolf appears in the same direction he had been looking, a trail of snowflakes falling in her wake. She looks at Eustace with a bored expression that seems to say, "What, I was having fun" before she looks at the others. It's then she sees the other wolf familiar and perks up before trotting over, first to sniff Razor and then the ghostly wolf.
"This is Eria, my familiar. She's a snow wolf. She's the playful type so they might get along."
no subject
He makes no movements that are sudden, and he wouldn't dare reach out to pet her if she didn't specifically request it.
"Wolf is...serious," he says quietly. "Like wolf at home." He's thinking of a very specific wolf, of course. The wolf who raised him was kind of -- well, unfriendly towards outsiders. Razor happened to like new people.
He glanced towards his familiar. "But Wolf should have friend, too." He nods. Clearly, he just calls his wolf "Wolf".
no subject
So Wolf familiar was similar in behavior to the wolf that raised Razor since their familiars were... well, familiar. But he wondered about the rest. Wolf was hard to read, but he might be able to say the same of most familiars that weren't Eria or Moguo.
"Well, serious guys could always use some energetic friends! As long as they get along alright!" Look at him and Eustace for example. Things worked out!
no subject
"...Hm." That was all Zidane was going to get out of Eustace for that kind of remark, as if not quite so willing to agree. "Someone has to make sure they don't get in trouble at least."
Definitely directed at Zidane.
"Eria will likely bother your familiar, but if she gets on his nerves don't hold back. She could learn some self-restraint."
Hearing his words, Eria looks at Eustace sharply as if indignant. How dare—she knows self-restraint! It's not like she's some spoiled princess who acts all haughty and moves to her own whims or anything!
She is, she is very much like that at times. As if to prove her wordless point, she huffs and walks over at Wolf. However, rather be submissive, she has a gaze of, "Hey you, we're going to be friends now, got it?"no subject
"Wolf won't hold back," Razor reassures. He never has, at least. He's been a present, protective force over Razor. Near silent, as Razor seems to like, too.
Eustace's wolf talks a lot, he notes. He doesn't meet a lot of wolves who can talk who aren't Andrius.
He uses both hands and gently moves his hands over her muzzle before he removes them.
"Wolf good at leading. Like in pack." Wolf observes her for a moment, and nods towards Razor quietly. Whether or not they'll be friends he doesn't seem to confirm. He doesn't seem too inclined to go far, either. He's stoic and seems strong. He's confident. But he says nothing.
He wants to keep his eyes on the person who is his.
no subject
He's not denying it, though, they're not going to discuss that right now. Also, Razor didn't need to be learning any of his habits. Fortunate that he was more interested in the simpler things and nature instead of the concrete - or tech - jungle that was Camelot. At least Eria and Wolf were getting along too.
"Speaking of pack, who wants to lead the hunt today? Track anything recently that you need help taking down, Razor?"
Being in this world de-powered each of them quite a bit. Razor could handle himself, but if he wanted any particular target that was bigger, bulkier, or way more aggressive that required a group, they might as well make that their goal.
no subject
"Since I'm an unexpected guest, I'll just follow your lead and supervise."
no subject
He's used to hanging out with someone who has terrible luck.
He has to be prepared for anything.
Wolf glances up towards Razor, since they do have a spot in mind. "Deer," he answers simply. He doesn't get to hunt those really at home, not often. And he hasn't hunted them nearly as much as others. Still, he was able to guess he could handle it if he wanted to. "Found... this way." He turns, shifting to start leading them into the woods.
no subject
But with the three of them - no, with the six of them with their familiars - there shouldn't be any problem.
"Deer. Sounds good..." And with a nod, Zidane follows after Razor and Wolf, only taking a brief look back to make sure Eustace and Eria were coming with. It shouldn't be a problem if it's just a deer this late in spring.
