A -Announcement- Network

[Darin is excitedly fiddling with his device. When he thinks he's got a good frame, he steps back.]

So, it's been a few months since I dropped in here but after a lot of work, I've finally done it!

[He steps aside to show a store-front constructed into the side of a very pictureesque hillock. The sign on the side of the road leading up to the front door reads "Forge Ahead."]

Today marks the grand opening of 'Forge Ahead' my dream made reality! And speaking of dreams, I'm putting out this call to make some of yours come true! Need equipment? Has your gear seen better days? Looking for a gift for a special someone? How about some expertly crafted tools? Well, Forge Ahead is here for you! And if there's any aspiring craftsmen, mana researchers, or engineers that are looking for employment, I've got more than enough space to accommodate! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone who comes out!

B -At The Forge-

[Just like the announcement said, Forge Ahead is located just outside of Camelot, built into a picturesque hillock so as not to take away from the beauty of Avalon. Already the sound of hammer on anvil can be heard ringing out from within, and when you walk through the large, oaken door a magical chime rings throughout the shop. Darin happily looks up from his work and hurries over to greet you.]

Welcome to Forge Ahead where we always look forward to your ideas! I'm Darin Altway, Master Blacksmith. What can I do for you today?

C -No Buccaing Out-

[Honestly, monster exterminating quests were beginning to be Darin's jam. They paid well, they gave him valuable experience and training, and more often than not he'd find some interesting raw materials he could use for his smithy. Besides, it was his motto that the more people he helped, the more he got his name out there. When looking to secure supplies, being known as dependable was just as good as being rich.]

[So, he's out on the edge of the Silent Shore in swim trunks; his dao strapped to his back and a bottle of underwater breathing potion in-hand.]

Before we decide on drinks this, maybe we should determine who can hold their breath longer. I've done some diving in the past but...who knows how far down these things are. Thoughts?

D -Holo, Goodbye-

[Darin was not one to deny someone their dying wish. Back home, he'd done so much for the elderly in his town that they'd actually come to rely on him. He was determined to make this trip along with anyone who would walk with him.]

Let's see...according to the map we should be coming up on the...

...Oh wow.

[He stops overlooking the river. The sight is unlike anything he's ever seen; rainbows arcing all over and stones glittering along the shores and in the river itself. It almost looks like there's gems literally springing to the surface, enriching the water with glitter and treasure.]

...This is beautiful...

Where is it located?

[By the scenery, his guess is to the west of Camelot proper. That region is rather hilly. It wouldn't be a bad location for businesses of that sort, either. Lots of space. Maybe even near a certain, well-travelled route.

But he'll wait for the answer before verbally leaping to conclusions.]

Out to the west, outside of the city. There's a sign off of the main road that'll point you to a large hill. The facility is set into the hill. Just look for the smoke coming from the vent at the top. Can't miss it!

I'll be there within the hour.

[He's still doing a lot of travelling on foot. He should probably save up for some totems at some point, but he's still prioritizing survival in battle over ease of travel for the time being.]

The door's unlocked. Come on in and make yourself at home!

[And when Walter does show up, he'll find that Darin's made a pretty nice operation for himself. A multi-level facility designed not just for forging weapons and armor, but areas designated to test new magical materials and experiments of his own design. It's practically a full-fledged R&D facility.]

[When Walter arrives, it's immediately clear that this place is more than a simple forge. It is impressively large for such a new operation.

Looking around, Walter gives an appreciative whistle.]

Nice place. You didn't sell your soul or anything of the like to get it, did you?

[Darin laughs.]

Not a chance. If I did that, what would I be putting into my work?

[He holds a hand out to Walter upon greeting him.]

Glad you could make it. Did you find the place alright?

[He cracks a smirk at the response to his jest, amused. It takes him a moment to put together that Darin might be angling for a handshake with his arm extended like that, but once the thought occurs to Walter's mind, he returns the gesture.]

It was easy.

So, how many people do you have working in this massive space?

So far? Two. A journeyman smith and someone who helps me showcase my work as a model.

Are you looking to sign on?

Isn't that what we talked about before?

Don't tell me you forgot, Mr. Darin.

Of course I didn't forget. But I thought you were more interested in partnering up rather than working under me.

That's true. I have a master, so working under someone outside of that chain of command would be... difficult.

[King Arthur is one thing. He is a king of Briton, to which his master might feasibly report to were he here. A sort of special circumstance, one might say.]

But would it not be here that I do at least some part of that work? I was under the impression people made formal arrangements for such things.

Oh! We can work out something like that. I don't mind letting you use the facilities for like-minded work.

That's good. In exchange, your forge will be the foremost beneficiary of the work I do here.

[Speaking over these matters, it strikes Walter that he has indeed happened across someone interested in working in the field. He did say something along the lines of being willing to inquire whether forge owners were taking apprentices, didn't he...

Well, no better time than the present to ask!]

Ah, but speaking of working under you, are you taking on any apprentices? I did encounter someone who was interested in entering your line of work when I made my initial inquiries. I could direct him to you if you could use more hands and don't mind teaching someone.

Sounds like a plan!

And yeah, of course I'm taking on apprentices! Who did you have in mind? Maybe I've met them!

How about I show you?

[Already pulling out his phone, he tracks back to an earlier conversation of his. Were one to glance at his phone, it would appear as though he keeps a separate record of his conversations despite not having a proper account-- instead keeping track of the network communications utilizing a separate 'app'.]

I don't have any personal connection to the fellow, so you don't have to be concerned about my reaction to your decision. I trust you know what sort of person would work well under you.

[Pulling up the conversation, he turns the screen so that Darin has a clear view.]

His user name is "fireprince". All one word.

[Darin looks over the conversation.]

Interesting.

Having an elemental user on staff could really help. Honestly, I'd like to take on people with as much varying magic as possible. It's the only way to thoroughly test the gear I make and its utilities.

...Send him my way. I'll see how serious he is about this.

[An elemental magic user could be useful to have on hand if they manage to master enchanting weaponry, too. Perhaps he will approach the fellow for research purposes if he turns out to be a good fit for the forge.]

I will do so.

[Turning off the screen, he pockets the phone.]
