Decorated in a lush array of plant life, Magnolia Café opens its doors for the first time. The scent of tea and coffee wafts through the café, warm and delicate in all its ways, and is only accentuated by the soft lights and gentle music. Nothing is too in your face, as the cafe's main appeal is to make customers feel right at home. 

The special tea for May is a hibiscus tea that has hints of mint and lemongrass. It's accompanying treat is a small chocolate mousse cake made to look like a cloud using a white chocolate shell.  

➼ outdoor seating area

There's a path pointing to the outdoor seating area using wood carved signs indicating as such, and once through the door, one is met with a patio, with a canopy of plants just loose enough to let the sun peek through. The scent of tea isn't as strong here, but what replaces it is the smell of magnolia flowers. Magnolia trees line the walls, sparse enough to walk through, but still large enough to call people's attention to them.

[ Catch Naoto working his butt off, from serving customers to just experimenting with new tea blends! If you just call out to him, he'll respond! ]

[ Stella is, at least, polite enough to pick a quiet moment when she comes over to interrupt Naoto's work day and she's practically sparkling with delight over the whole thing. ]

This place rocks! I love it! I can't believe I had no idea you were into this kinda thing!

[ Oh he's so glad to see a familiar face! He feels pride swell in him when Stella showers the place in praise. ]

Why thank you! I figured why not make my tea making hobby into something profitable! You can never go wrong with pocket money!

[Kratos isn't really the kind of person who hangs out in fancy cafes, but he figures there's no harm in popping in to grab a quick coffee while he's running errands or something. He has bad sleeping habits, he needs the caffeine, okay. He's rolled in at a pretty quiet part if the day, so he doesn't feel too bad about interrupting Naoto's tea experiments to catch up with him a bit.]

Looks like you've been keeping busy. How've you been?

[ Naoto put on his customer service smile once he heard the door bell chime, wondering who could it be. It might be slow, but Naoto was determined to be the best damn tea shop he could be. Once seeing the person who had come in, his smile shifted to a much more friendly smile. ]

Ah, nice to see you again! I've been doing better for myself! And you?

[Nobunaga is in his full Sengoku era black armor, but also wearing a dramatic red cape. Totally normal. And finally European style boots as they're better for climbing trees and so forth!]

May I ask how you got started in your world to decide to carry it over here?

Yeah, I-- holy shit! A samurai?!

[ Naoto did not expect a man in full Sengoku armor to come in! He tries to calm down in order to answer proper. ]

Sorry about that... [ A clearing of throat. ] Yeah, I'm the owner, and I did start back home, but it was more a hobby than anything. I just started the business here.

[ The news about the new café opening spread quite fast and when he hard who's behind the whole thing, there's only one thing left for Akira to do—drop by the newly-opened café.

He manages to catch Naoto while it's not too busy and there are just a few customers around. ]

You're a business owner, now. You grew up so fast...are you going to move out next?

[ They're not even living together, it's just Akira being Akira. ]

It's looking great. I'm a coffee guy, but I'd love to get a stamp card.

We never lived with each other in the first place, lover boy.

[ Naoto's tone was sarcastic, but he's got a smile on his face. No malicious intent here, that's for sure. At least it was on the calmer side of business hours. ​]

But thanks. I'll give you one when I get them from the printer. [ Better to say the truth! ] I'm also not the greatest when it comes to coffee. I need practice in it-- but I can try!

[Of course Makoto is excited for Naoto's new cafe. Not only is she a sucker for any and all cafes and tea houses, it's her new boyfriend doing something he loves. And honestly, as awesome as the karaoke bar is and how much she loves all the coworkers and customers there, the long, late nights and more frantic pace of the kitchen were starting to wear her out just a bit, especially between cooking and cleaning the house and quests and magic and combat training. Something a bit quieter and more diurnal would be better for her in the long term.

Which is why Makoto comes in early one morning in a green sleeveless blouse and white skirt with a list of recipes... and samples for breakfast~ Likely while Naoto's in the middle of preparing a cloud cake.]

[ Naoto’s got a bowl of mousse in hand, turning around to greet his girlfriend with a smile for a moment or two before turning back to the mousse. ]

You’re here bright and early. Not worried about me, are you?

[ She should be, honestly. Naoto’s arm is starting to hurt him a little. ]

Looking for a job? Here's an opening!

[ Naoto's missing an arm, so he really does need all the help he can get. ]

[ despite having a lively discussion about all the ways the job-seeking process is broken.... unfortunately it seems you really do need money at least to eat. he's possibly been holding out for something that he actually has an aptitude for — which is to say, combat — but the last time he made that assessment for himself it... got a bit messy.

anyway, isn't the point of making connections being able to use them?

ledo doesn't know what to make of the café exactly, but aesthetics are lost on him. beyond making note of the available exits and the general layout that can be determined from the door, he isn't sure where to begin. chamber itself isn't with him this time, but its portable module has a spot made for it right in the collar of his suit. he doesn't expect to need to do anything that would require the robot's sensors and therefore the main body.

he waits until there's an opportune time to approach, standing there at attention which looks perfectly professional. maybe a bit much in this setting. ]

[ he pauses and looks vaguely unsettled. ]

Role-playing? Who told you that shit?

[ Naoto's relaxed nature was a very stark contrast to Ledo's professionalism, but his question about needing someone to work still sticks out like a sore thumb. He does need someone else, and he might as well take anyone he can get. ]

A-Anyways, yeah, I am. Need someone to handle the register for now. You can do that right?

Grand Opening

As Ken looked at the cafe curiously, he figured that he should support the local business as it was brand new. While he wanted to go in, he looked at the place before looking back at Koromaru. As his dog gave a small whine, all Ken could do was kneel down to pet him.

"I know, Koromaru, but I'm not sure if you're allowed in..."

"Oh, it's cool! Dogs are allowed in!"

Naoto had seen the customer from behind the counter, grinning from ear to ear. However, he realizes that he knows this customer. He leans over his counter, just to get a better look. He smiles when it hits.

"Ken? Is that you?"

[whatsamada]

The moment that Ken heard a familiar voice, he immediately raised his head.

"Oh, Naoto-san, I didn't know that you were the owner of this place!" He said before giving him a bright smile.

At the same time, that's when Koromaru gave a loud happy bark. "Did you say that? He said thank you because he was worried! He really wanted to see what this cafe had to offer for him!"

[Tsuna isn't sure if he should be out here, since he kind of wandered over without really thinking. But the smell of flowers is nice and it's peaceful out here. He feels like he hasn't really had a lot of that lately, with all the thoughts running through his mind. If he can, he'll spend a little while out here, just taking it in.]

[ While Fenton does notice the Magnolia flowers as he's passing by, it's his familiar that becomes interested in them. So much so, in fact, that she hops out off of her usual spot on top of Fenton's head and onto one of the flowers, forcing Fenton to stop and double back. ]

Hey, Meadowbell, come on. [ Glancing around a bit, he frowns. ] I don't really think we're supposed to be here.

[It just so happens, said flowers happen to be framing a doorway, currently open with a clear spring day, and offer a clear line of sight and sound from there to the dessert case inside, where a certain someone is adding a tray of freshly baked scones to the offerings. Hearing the voice, though, she perks up and grins.]

Fenton-san, hi!

[ Finally getting his familiar back, he's about to leave when he hears the familiar voice. Spinning around, he smiles when he sees her. ]

Oh hey, Makoto! [ Noticing the tray she's holding, he blinks. ] Do you work here too?

[ Didn't she work at the karaoke bar? ]

And of course what's a tea house without cute, delicious pastries? Whether you're walking up to the counter to peruse the menu (or the simple yet elegant and slowly-growing dessert case) or just sit yourself down at one of the tables in- or outdoors, it likely won't be long until you find a tall, auburn girl meeting you with a grin.

"Welcome to Magnolia Café~ How are you doing today?"

[ Mona is not a sweets person, that was her friend Albedo... However she did enjoy a sweet or two on the off occasion. Today she wanted to treat herself, and managed to spot some money on the side in an attempt to look forward to buying herself something today. Her eyes look at the desert case, eyeing each item there happily.]

[Meanwhile, as Ken was looking at the menu, that's when he found himself looking a familiar looking girl.]
