Return of an Old Friend (open)
🧙 WHO: Harry, Rose the Pygmy Puff, Hedwig the Snowy Owl, and You
⚔️️ WHAT: Harry reunites with Hedwig (AKA the Home Regain)
đź•’ WHEN: May 2, 2021
🗺️ WHERE: The Red Spring Training Grounds
⚠️ WARNINGS: Mentions of death and war (will update this if something else comes)
It is the day Harry has been dreading to face with, the day of the Battle of Hogwarts: memories of the ruins of Hogwarts Castle, people dying, destruction everywhere he could go around, him willing to let Voldemort to hit him with the Killing Curse to severe the mental/emotional connection they had, the trip to Limbo and meeting Dumbledore for the last time in there, the final battle that ends in the Dark Lord’s demise and the end of his reign of terror over Wizarding Britain.
The thought of it has been stressing him out as each day leading up to it passes him by and he needs to get his mind away from those sad thoughts and memories from his world. As soon as he gets up in his room and has breakfast, he goes off to a small section of the training grounds to do magic practice. He begins the training session by levitating a small tree branch some meters off the ground before tossing a fireball to incite it before it could land on the ground. Then he proceeds to teleport some small rocks near a tree stump onto his hands, though he did have a misfire where he underestimates how much thought power is needed to teleport items, which have the rocks flying towards him and he ducks them quickly. Rose squeaks in concern as she witnesses it and him realizing his mistake.
“Well, I got to be more careful with teleporting stuff next time,” he sighs to her as he gets up from the ground when he starts to overhear owl hoots coming out of what seems to be from nowhere and he gets a little confused for a moment before he asks Rose of the hoots’ whereabouts, “Hey Rose, where do you think those hoots are coming from?”
Rose shakes her head to convey that she honestly doesn’t know and Harry is left utterly in a loss for words when the hoots grow louder with each second. Alarmed, he turns his head around to see a sight so familiar it hits him with an odd mix of nostalgia and shock: a beautiful vision of snow white feathers speckled with black, large amber eyes, and wings so magnificent, just like when he first saw her in Eeylops Owl Emporium years ago, gliding towards him. Oh Merlin, could it be? Is he imagining things or is it reality? His blue eyes don’t deceive him: an old friend has returned for him.
“Hedwig?” he could feel his throat tightening up as he sees the snowy owl flying in and stops mid-way at first; she looks so bright, young, and remarkably alive, which confuses him since he saw her getting hit by the Killing Curse during the escape from Privet Drive.
She hoots again as her way to reassure him that she’s okay before she lands on his right arm. He must have blinked a thousand times, not sure how to process all of this information in his brain and unable to hold back the joyous tears running down from his eyes. Hedwig lets out a soft hoot before she nuzzles up against his cheek as Rose watches on with awe, knowing how much the owl means so much to her master from the talks he has told her about Hedwig for so long, and he goes to stroke her back to make sure that she’s real and not a figment of his imagination.
He was the only one in Avalon to come from his world and he was already getting used to it the longer he stays in there, but with Hedwig coming back to him, he feels less alone in a different world. Maybe being stuck in another world isn’t as bad as he initially thought it would be when he first arrived all those months ago...

That being said, when heard Harry playing around with an owl, Ken raised an eyebrow. He didn't know if he should say anything or simply leave them be. Regardless, he knew that he shouldn't stare for long as it knew it would be rude.
[ooc: If this isn't okay, let me know!]

“Ken, hi,” Harry greets the younger teen, “I just got distracted when I got a friend from home back with me, except she’s an owl and a lovely owl friend to boot.”
no subject
"No, it's okay. I'm glad that you're able to get her back because I know what it's like to get a companion back from home." He said before chuckling a little. "It sure is different when you have an animal whom you care a lot about come here with you, huh?"

Even back then, Harry does acknowledge the importance of familiars in his world, though it was limited in terms of species and how much they do with magic back then now that he thinks about it.

Especially when Ken could also go into details about how Persona magic worked in his world.

“Well, familiars in my world don’t usually amplify our magic compared to what we have in Avalon, but they are still companions who would stay with us until the end and Hedwig fulfills that role back home,” he goes on when Hedwig flies over to Rose and the two meet for the first time.
Rose squeaks to the owl happily, which Hedwig hoots gleefully in reply.

"It doesn't sound too different from what I had to deal with back home. In my world, we have a Persona so you can think of it as a familiar." He said before giving a small frown. "Although, I do kind of miss Kala-Nemi after being here for so long..."
no subject
“So the Personas in your world act similarly to familiars? That is pretty brilliant! Do they assist you in casting spells or maybe something similar?” he asks before he notices Ken feeling a sad over something, “Um, can you tell me more about Kala-Nemi? I’m just wondering.”
no subject
"But yes, Kala-Nemi is like a familiar but he is a part of me. I don't know how to describe it but he is a reflection of myself."

Rose and Hedwig meanwhile are having a bonding session where they have some sort of conversation on the tree stump. They are getting along very well so far and it is warming his heart as he sees it happening.
