Someone you know? Well, I hope they're someone nice! [Adelle winks at him.

If she's making it worse, she has no idea. She looks at Cloud for a second -- really, the grass stains and dirt splotches seem like part of learning unless you've got a lot of experience with flying. Adelle taps a finger against her cheek.]

I didn't know they made swords heavier than that... and I do! See? [She focuses -- then floats up off the ground. Adelle hovers there for a second, before she comes back down.]

[ Luckily for Adelle, her playful nature wasn't making things worse on the resemblance front. That might have been a different story if Cloud wound up coming here alone, and Weiss was nowhere to be found. Instead, he's quick to mentally shrug off that coincidence now when she quickly demonstrates hovering off the ground. His gaze only widens a little at how easy she makes it look.

He's defied gravity in a myriad of ways while he was fighting back home...but save for the likes of Sephiroth? There weren't many back home who actually had the power of levitation or telekinesis. So the fact that Cloud now had access to this channel was going to be a learning curve for him. Yet...as he watches her, he can only begin to brainstorm how he intends to implement the magic. ]

Pulling it off just like that, huh... Guess I got a ways to go. [ A beat. ] Elemental magic's what I first started using when I got here.

[Adelle smiles. She also doesn't mention that she has a lot of experience flying like this, back home... since some things are meant to be secrets.] The trick is to not overdo it. You want to make yourself hover -- a little consistent pressure on yourself, to lift yourself. Moving is harder, though, since you need to do two things at once.

[She tilts her head to the side, then.] Elemental magic? Like... fire, ice, things like that?

[ When she talks about it like "pressure", that earns a tiny 'hm' from the blond. He never thought to look at it like that. Pressure on himself...and then, moving that pressure onto other things. Is that what Adelle is talking about? As she queries him about his original route of magic, that gets his face to light up some. If only because this was something he could display swimmingly enough. Nodding, he casually raises his hand, open palmed like he's holding something. ]

Fire... [ Manifesting in his hand, sparks that turn into a floating ball of fire appears! Clenching his gloved fist around the flame, when he opens it again... ] Ice,

[ Ice floats around his hand as the leather of his glove cracks with a layer of frost. ]

Lightning, wind-

[ Cloud doesn't manifest those elements, but he closes his fist around the frost ball in his palm, patting the ice off on his chest. ]

Things like that. Next step is getting better at infusing it through my weapons.

That's incredible! [Adelle even gasps when she sees the fire, then the ice appear. She absolutely believes that he can do wind and fire. This seems like something that follows naturally.]

I knew people who could cast spells where I'm from... it wasn't really what I was best at. [At least, without cheating.

She tilts her head to the side.]

Is that how you prefer it? Through your weapon? It seems effective, even if I have never done it before.

[ He'd be lying if he said the encouragement didn't feel good. Which is why he calmly smiles with a nod of his head. He hardly knows this person, but if he can make an impression of any kind... Hey. It's good progress! ]

We all got our strong points.

[ Hers, he assumes, must be flight if she took to Kinetic magic so well. ]

I'd rather be flexible and do both. [ Hmm... Oh! He knows how he can explain it. And he tends to keep it on his person if by chance the world restores his innate abilities. Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out the only item from his home world, lobbing it casually to Adelle. ] Catch.

[ The Restore Materia has lost its luster, no longer glowing with deep knowledge as its properties lay dormant. ]

Back home, this is how we use magic. Equip these to our weapons and gear. Even combine them for the elemental weapon effect I mentioned.

[ OG Tutorial strikes again. ]

[Flight does come naturally to Adelle. Mysteriously.

She catches the tossed object, with some good reflexes. She holds the materia up -- her eyes widen -- and then she nods her head once with understanding.] That... that does seem useful! I have something like it, sort of, from my world. It's--

[She pulls out a small crystal, with a symbol on its face, and then a metallic clasp on the underside. She tosses it to him.]

It has a person's skills in it -- so it can let you use magic. Or maybe their skills in fighting. That one is for a Dragoon. I could use a spear and jump very high. It even came with an outfit change.

[ Cloud's eyes briefly widen when she pulls out a similar but differently shaped crystal, effortlessly catching it when it's tossed to him. As she explains how it works, Cloud holds it towards the sky, gazing through it. While he wasn't looking at her just yet, he is listening intently to her words. ]

A Dragoon... So like a class change. [ Technically his faux title was Ex-SOLDIER. But he would classify as a Warrior, specializing in swords. Then there were the likes of Aerith, who was especially talented in magic and healing. ] Switching your skillset on the fly sounds just as handy.

[ His gaze returns to Adelle, holding the crystal in his hand securely. Wouldn't want to drop something so important in case it's fragile. Luckily, Materia? That can bounce and take a beating, he knows. ]

Sucks they cut us off from using 'em.

Mm-hm. They call them Jobs, in Excillant.

[She rolls the materia between her fingers. She's being a little showy, if not thinking much about it. It rolls between her fingers and over her palm. She's naturally a little agile.]

It's a little annoying, having to learn a new set of abilities. Though...

[She cocks her head.] It's a nice opportunity, too, huh?

[ Cloud can't help but smirk a little when Adelle starts naturally rolling the orb between her fingers. So casual about it all... The smirk turns into a thin smile as he reminisces of faces he hasn't seen in some time. More specifically, how he pictures Yuffie fawning over Adelle's fancy materia work. Lowering the crystal so he wasn't staring at it through the sun anymore, he nods when she reminds him of the opportunities this presents. ]

Bonus if we manage to keep these skills after. [ A beat. ] Wouldn't mind using magic without having to equip the Materia for it.

[ ... Then, a faint shade of pink dusting his cheeks as he rubs the back of his neck, ]

Or flying. I guess.

That would be useful, wouldn't it? I could stand to always be able to do this, whenever we get back home.

[She rolls the materia to her fingers, catches it, and then she hands it back to him. She better not do that too much, or she'll get addicted.]

Don't worry. You'll get the flying down. It just takes practice!

[ Whenever they get back home... There's a lot that Cloud still has left to do, not just back home, but for the sake of another when he gets the chance. But right now that's neither here or there or relevant to this meeting. Just as she hands the Materia back to him, he offers her crystal in exchange, that thin smile of his softening up some more. ]

Got plenty of time for that, right?

[ A beat or two passes when they exchange their respective jewels before, ] Thanks...— [ Ah- Wait. ] Sorry.

You got a name? I'm Cloud.

[ They got caught up in faceplanting and flying and sharing mystical crystals. Whoops. Still, this lady seems pretty cool. And he appreciates the encouragement all the same. ]

Yeah, I don't think it's any time soon. [Adelle bobs her head in agreement, taking the Asterisk back. She pockets it carefully; it may be powerless but it's an important memento.]

I'm Adelle!

[She smiles back.] Always good to meet someone new!
