[Despite being so far away from their home and normal daily lives right now there is something about questing and adventuring that really sparks with Izuku. Perhaps it’s the chance to dive into something new or the fact that these quests are a way of helping people. When he had heard about a task to take on some dark caves infested with some spiders that needed to be captured alive he thought he could help. Spiders are creepy crawly things but heroes can’t afford to be scared of anything! Not even big ugly bugs! Hopefully, that courage lasts out!

Izuku walks along the thin worn trail up towards the deep hills that should lead towards the tunnels. With map in hand as he studies over it with a hand on his chin.]

I think if we keep going this way we should see the entrance to the tunnel about... here?

[He looks up and stops. There it is, a hollow in the hills with a dark passage leading inwards. He had asked Ochako to come with him today because it’s better to work in pairs! And in a pinch, her elemental magic should theoretically come in handy.]

[Likewise with Ochako - the quests truly feel reminiscent of various missions and even training exercises they'd have been given as heroes back home, both in the scope of said quests as well as a monetary boon. She's been eager to complete them as they arose, checking the quest board every other day to see what new and interesting things were available. Especially now, seeing as how she had a magic type that wasn't completely unusable.

And while Ochako would...not have taken this mission any other time of day - she is not exactly a fan of spiders and creepy-crawlies, especially after seeing poor Mic-sensei get terrorized by them when facing Jirou and Kouda during their exams - there was a multitude of reasons that she wanted to go as well. One being that she truly did miss training and working with Deku, one of her very best friends. They worked well together, and supported each other in a variety of ways, too. Secondly, it was a way to get over her fear a bit, too. Bugs were a few notches below ghosts, and she's already done that song and dance before in that creepy, haunted manor, so...]

Mm, seems like we're in the right place now. [Ochako is careful to steer clear of the tunnel entrance, keeping her eyes peeled on the cave entrance and surrounding area. No need to get ambushed suddenly by a bunch of hungry spiders or anything. Ochako knows that the quest meant for the insects to be kept alive, but...man, she's not about squishing some bugs if push comes to shove.] Be careful, Deku-kun...we don't know how many could be in there.

[The best part of questing really is the helping people part. He wants to think of it as training as well. Even if they don't have their usual quirks and abilities right now learning to take on these sorts of tasks and things while learning new magic has its own benefits. They can really learn to adapt! And facing a few old fears along the way helps too. It makes him think of Aizawa-sensei... Would he be proud of them?

Izuku glances down to the entrance and follows her gaze to the surrounding areas. Just outside the tunnels are dense trees so their line of sight is also hampered. It's no wonder the spiders have taken to this remote area.]

Yeah... If we take it slow and scout ahead as much as we can while keeping quiet, I think we've got a fair chance to catch the spiders before they can catch us.

[Is there going to be giant spider webs, he wonders? Nonetheless, Izuku's little goat familiar is trotting up to his leg and he himself starts to hoof it towards the tunnel entrance. So, Izuku follows.]

Uraraka-san, have you been able to try any other elements with your magic yet?

[Ochako is sure Aizawa would indeed be proud of their accomplishments, slow-going as they may be. It really does feel like they're putting the studies and knowledge to the test here, and learning more through actual experience. They may only be trainees in their first year, but...they're strong, and adaptable.

Thick trees and Ochako can very faintly make out the thin threads of silk, nearly invisible to the naked eye. Her brows crease, and she truly hopes they don't get stuck in any massive spiderweb or anything like that. The thought alone makes Ochako shiver - she's seen monster movies that were really similar to this... People getting cocooned in spidersilk and just being a meal for later. S-Scary... But she's got to do it!! They're just bugs!!! Bug can be squished! I-It's no problem!]

Sounds like a good idea, Deku-kun! [Ochako makes up the rear, though she's staring first at the little goat with some concern. Aludra can materialize as an element or spirit of sorts, since she's a fae spirit, thus wouldn't be a good snack but...that little goat sure is ripe picking for a hungry arachnid.] Mm, goat-chan, maybe you should stay in the middle between me and Deku? You don't want to get gobbled up going too far in, do you?

[Also she may just...want to hold it, too. >3>;; Sure her, it's cute.]

[Izuku nods as they head for the first section of the tunnels. He can see the sticky-looking webs clinging to the walls too and as they start inward it will start to get thicker as they go as well. A bonafide spider's nest. Gross. But Izuku did bring a torch or two so at least light and fire won't be too big of a deal.]

... He wouldn't stop crying unless I took him with us so here he is... [Izuku sweatdrops. The goat is cute but he's mighty persistent too.] I still don't know what sort of abilities he has so... Maybe he'll have something to help out?

[Or maybe the goat is quirkless like Izuku once was! Useless and without any flashy abilities like Aludra- He's really just a spider's snack....... But he seems pleased to be here, trotting along and then hopping into step near Ochako. Ah- okay. Maybe he just likes the cute girl.]

[The thick, sticky webbing coating the walls and even some parts of the floor is Concerning™, and Ochako already feels her shoes starting to stick a little bit at the walk - like when someone spills juice on a floor and it drinks and gets sticky and your feet just feel like pulling apart velcro...gross indeed. But, the heat and fire from Izuku's torch clears most of it away, and Ochako has her elemental magic, though...she hasn't used fire just yet, a-and isn't really sure how much she wants to in such a closed space...ahem.]

Eh? Ehehe, little Tofu, you're actually a naughty boy, aren't you? [Yes, that's the nickname Ochako is going with. Of course it's based around food, because what else would it be based around?? She giggles as he comes close, bending down to pick him up carefully and give him a few pets and cuddles.] If he's anything like you, Deku-kun, I'll bet he's really wonderful. Strong, too. And dependable... Isn't that right, Tofu-chan?

[She scritches under his chin affectionately, tickling her fingers through that adorable little beard. Ugh, he's just so dang cute. Ochako loves her big ol' wolf familiar, but Aludra is a ripe pain in the ass sometimes...and far more intelligent and mischievous than she lets on. True to being a fae spirit...she supposes. It'd be easier, Ochako thinks, to just have a more animal-like familiar like Deku has. Something cute...]

[The sticky pathway is concerning but it also means that they must be closing in on the spider nests already. That's a good sign and maybe that means they won't be getting lost down here for hours. A good in and out sort of mission would be beneficial! Here's hoping. Izuku decides to lead the way where the webs seem to be getting thicker, using the brush of his torch to burn away the worst of it so they can pass easily enough.

With a sweatdrop, he looks over his shoulder at the two of them. The goat seems to be more than happy for the attention, lifting his chin for more of those fingers scritching away at his fur. A happy little bleat and a little wiggle of his butt.]

Tofu? [Izuku smiles and lets out a light laugh.] Th-thanks, Uraraka-san... I feel like if you say those things to him he might want to follow you around all the time...

[He scratches his cheek. All those compliments. It's making him feel embarrassed! ... And happy!]

I don't know what it is but he seems to like you and Kacchan...

[Despite certain issues and arguments between them lately Izuku is still rather eager to get some work done with Katsuki. Besides- they have things they need to buy and rent to pay for the shared place they have now. Since he’s worked on The Librirynth before Izuku has a pass to take into the place again. And this time it’s to clear out the slime infestation inside as best they can. (with a bonus of free pie??)

The doors of the library are just ahead. Inside this creaky old ruin, it smells like rocky dust and old dirt. With him, Izuku has packed his broadsword but since he hasn’t worked with it too much yet it might sit on his back more often than not right now. And alongside him walks his little goat who has his own little pack strapped to his back. He's ready too!]

If we can manage to find our way to the second basement level that’s where the slimes will be...

[He is kind of excited. This really is like a dungeon crawl right in some sort of dungeons and dragons game.]

Are you ready, Kacchan?

[ There's... Actually a lot going on between them. Things have always kind of been tense and uncertain, but now it's like electricity. Something static and almost tangible. One could almost taste it. A lot of things have happened and have likely been realized and yet they both are avoiding it.

Showing up here to fight off a bunch of monsters is just one of the ways. Deku going means that Katsuki has to because, despite all of this nonsense, Bakugou isn't going to fall behind. Not gonna let the nerd show him up. ]

Just waiting for you to stop visibly vibrating. We're not gonna sneak anywhere if they can hear you because you're rattling.

[ Yeah he's ready to go. ]

[The last few days Izuku has been pushing himself to try and keep the peace or keep the normalcy of their routines, anyway. The same Good Morning greetings or bringing home things for Katsuki to use for dinner... But it's there. This weird back and forth they have now. Izuku catching himself gazing at Katsuki longer than usual too.

Like right now- Izuku breaks his gaze away and nods as he tucks a note into his pocket about the quest.]

With the two of us, it should be easy for us to clear out a lot of those slimes they talked about...! Or the best case scenario is we'll take care of all of them.

[But that is a lot and there are more helpers down here than just them. Either way, Izuku can't help muttering...]

Maybe I'll take out more than you can...?

[ As if Deku is the only one that's staring. Then again, Bakugou has been staring for a while. He looks when no one actually thinks that he is. So maybe it's a bit easier for him to get away with it without being noticed. Or caught.

Better to focus on this anyway. ]

Easy for me you mean!

[ He hasn't bothered to ask after Deku's secondary magic. Doesn't seem important? Or maybe they'll just see it eventually.

Katsuki flinches when he hears that mutter. ]

Ha? Did I hear you say you wanted to make this a contest?

[fullgauntlet]

[Izuku quickly puts his hands up, waving them sheepishly with a small unsure smile on his lips??]

Ah- I mean- It might be fun?

[His cheeks get slightly pink as he tries to suggest making this into some sort of game or competition that the two of them could do ... together.]

It ... It could be a good way to blow off some steam, wouldn't it? It's been a while since we've really ahh... let loose?

[ No denying that. It probably will be "fun." Not in the sense of giggling and laughing and being all bright eyed and blushing. Naw. This is going to be sweating and feeling that rush of adrenaline.

All Katsuki knows is that if Deku is coming with him, there's weird shit that is probably going to go down. When, in the last couple of months, hasn't something gone wrong when they are doing something together? ]

For you, maybe. As if I care about restraint.

[It was kind of a spur of the moment thing when he had planned a random spelunking adventure with someone on the network. Truth be told Izuku really does need to find some new materials that he can’t find or afford in town in order to keep studying alchemy. If they can find appropriate crystals in the caverns out in the hills then he might just be in some big luck.

He just seems to have overpacked this time. Izuku has a large yellow bag on his back filled with all sorts of cavern spelunking gear. Lanterns, tools, food, maps, extra clothing... He probably didn’t have to pack this heavy. But here he is, ready! Waiting at the meeting spot just outside of Camelot!]

Ahh... I hope I brought enough to get us through this. Maybe I should go back and pick up some more fire starters just in case…

[He’s muttering to himself!]

[ That... sure was a pretty big pack, wasn't it? For her own part, she's mostly only stuck to the basics. Lantern, food, the most up-to-date map of the local caverns she could get, flint and wood. Well, also her lance and her shield, but those were a given. Plus she wanted to have the mana shells handy so they could make comparisons between that and the crystals they found in the caves. ]

I've got flint! There shouldn't be really any need for anything besides that, right?

[fullgauntlet]

[She's absolutely right, packing light for a hike into some caverns is probably the better idea! Keep weapons and the essentials and that's it! They still have to haul back the goods they find, too...]

Eh-? Really? I was worried if we ran into any underground lakes and slipped in that we might need a change of boots or clothing...

[It's too much, Izuku! He starts fretting.]

Maybe I should leave some of this behind...?

[beaumains]

Ah, easy now, there's no use in fretting over it now... [ Gareth rubbed the back of her head, laughing. ]

We'll deal with it when we deal with it. I'm too excited to get going to turn back now, you know? So what we've got is what we've got!

So don't worry, alright? We'll find a way to make it all work! Now...

[ She turned in the general direction of the caverns they were looking for and started to walk, keeping her gait wide and relatively quick. ]

Nothing to it but to do it, as the saying goes!

Maybe you're right, It's been a while since I've gone on any trips like hiking or camping so I might be overthinking things... I am excited to see what we can find!

[He sweatdrops and laughs sheepishly while falls into step with her. With his hands on the straps of his bag, he goes look pretty excited to be doing this. Cavern spelunking for rare and unique crystals is going to be quite the adventure!]

According to the map, the caverns shouldn't be too far off. The forest is dense so we should be careful while we're walking not to get turned around. Ah, also I wanted to ask... Should I call you Gareth-san?

The proper address is Sir Gareth, but I'm not such a stickler that I'd hold people from another world to that standard. [ Gareth hummed, adjusting her straps as they went along. She was well aware that once they were in the cave itself, she'd have to start actually carrying her lance, as right now, it'd likely knock against the ceiling... ]

So I'll just say whatever makes you most comfortable. Propriety isn't meant to be that strict, is what I was taught by Sir Lancelot.

[It's Katsuki's birthday! Or really- It's the end of the day after all the birthday activities have happened. It's a busy day since there is a stir in the city and even Izuku gets caught up in some of it. But he manages the time! Izuku was even up late the previous night while frantically texting Ochako about something very important and very birthday-related. Izuku figures that even with how much Katsuki will probably dislike all the huff and puff made about him that it'll be worth it. And honestly, Izuku can't resist the urge to follow through even with any scowls he gets today. It's Katsuki's birthday...

Once all the fuss has died down and maybe Katsuki tries to escape at an early enough hour... Izuku is in the kitchen cleaning up a few things before he turns to the gift he has yet to give Katsuki. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Not really. Especially not in front of all their classmates.

But soon enough, and with some nervousness, he looks for Katsuki which he hopes hasn't just gone right to bed yet...]

Kacchan? Are you still awake?

[ Well obviously it's not something he thinks really merits some kind of special attention. Or any attention at all. For someone that is as prideful and loud as Bakugou, he surprisingly doesn't always like people fussing. He only tolerates it now because he actually knows his classmates and there's some realization that it's more about them than him anyway. Maybe that's why he doesn't throw TOO much of a fit.

But he still wants to go to bed at his usual time, dammit! The first couple of times he tries, he gets redirected. Eventually though Katsuki just isn't going to care. He'll let people do whatever but he is marching his butt up those stairs and flopping down onto his bed.

At least that's what he thinks is going to happen right up until Deku decides to peer in. ]

...Unfortunately.

[He's still near the top of the stairs to the loft, peeking in with a sort of tentative peek. It's late for Katsuki's standards by a long shot but even if Izuku stayed up late the previous night he isn't quite tired yet. Probably because he's got this ball of nervous anxiousness in his stomach. He wouldn't be able to sleep right now anyway.

With something in his grasp behind his back he replies,]

Ahh, sorry. Kacchan, there was one more thing I wanted to give you for your birthday. And there's still a few hours left of it.

[apshot]

[ Okay so sleep still isn't going to happen yet. Katsuki is just going to have to accept this, huh? With a grunt and something like a growl, he pushes himself to sit upright. ]

One more thing? From what I can tell, you've done a helluva lot already. What else could you possibly want to give?

[ It's not as snotty or as mean as Bakugou can make it sound. That tiredness has a way of mellowing him out a little. There's absolutely no heat to his words. ]

[fullgauntlet]

[He does sweatdrop a little but he steps closer to the bed anyway. A little nervous quiver in his throat as he brings a giftbox out from behind his back.]

I guess it isn't so much of a gift as more of something I said I'd make for you anyway. But I wanted to give them to you today.

[On top of the other actual gift he will give when Ochako is around. He holds the gift out for Katsuki to take.]

[ Something that he said he'd make...? Oh that's - ]

The lenses?

[ He'll take it of course. That's what Deku's talking about, right? Then kind of sit there awkwardly with it in his hands. ]
