[Jakurai had mulled over this for a few days. He realized quickly that things could and would turn dire at the drop of a hat. So what was the use in hiding things from those he considers dear? Nothing, really. If he could not trust Matenrou, his own team, with his biggest secrets then there came the issue of trust.

The days leading up to the conversation that he is about to have with the two of them were rough. He recited the thoughts over and over again to himself until he was just about blue in the face. For a man who was supposed to be unstoppable, the mere thought of his team abandoning him was weighing heavy on his mind.

He sends them both a text, a simple: Meet me in the common area, please.

And when they get there, Jakurai will be waiting in silence. It’s clear something is weighing on him.]

[He does his best to reign in his anxieties when it comes to his teammates intentions, but being the subject of so many rants that started out with 'meet me in the office', Jakurai's text sent a chill of fear through his spine. He was so tired but it wouldn't be right not to show up, so he dropped what he was doing to go and meet up, giving a slight bow when he came over to sit down.]

I um, sorry, H-Hifumi should be here in a little bit. I just texted him...D-did something happen?

[Hifumi gets there as well, not liking the look on Jakurai. He can't help but to wonder if it's Ramuda. If there's something bothering Jakurai, it was probably Ramuda did. It only made sense if that carried over to this new world too.]

Here I am! What's up?

[He has to tell them now that they are here. So he gestures to the couch in front of him.]

It is high time that I share some things with the both of you, so if you are willing to hear me out I would greatly appreciate it.

[YEAH THIS IS, NERVE WRACKING.]

[Doppo could tell that Jakurai was nervous; that in itself was the freakiest part of this because Jakurai was never nervous. Well, he was so excellent at hiding any of his distress that Doppo didn't actually know if he'd felt nervous before. Meanwhile, he himself was nearly vibrating out of his seat, trying to not look Jakurai in the eye in case something horrible happened.

Except he was...sharing something? Did he mean about himself?]

Are you okay? Is there some sort of trouble, I mean-uh....

Aw Sensei, don't be silly! For all the times you've listened to our crying and complaining?

[The ever so gentle Sensei... Hifumi smiles softly at him. He puts a hand on Doppo's shoulder so maybe he won't be as worried as he seems.]

The least we can do for you is hear you out.

[Which is a heavy thing to say, of course. He knows.]

I am going to tell you about my past.

[He was worried, and thankfully Hifumi's presence was helping. Jakurai's demeanor was still throwing him off; he was usually the calmest of them, someone Doppo could rely on for being unflappable.

Except the next part the good doctor stated it was about his past and Doppo let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.]

Wait, that's what this is about-I mean! I'm sorry. You can tell us anything, I don't think there's anything you can say that would m-make me want to leave....

[Did Jakurai secretly work for Chuuoku? Did he KILL someone?]

[This sure sounded like something serious! Hifumi's not quite sure how to feel just yet, but it must be a big deal for Jakurai to talk about it this way.]

I doubt there is anything you can tell us that would make us want to leave you, since we're like family!

[Hifumi nods at Jakurai.]

[ He has collected himself enough to give the best shot he can with how he will lay this out. ]

Many years ago, before I was a doctor and even before I was in the military...Ah, how to put this lightly?

[Just saying it would have to do. ]

I was a hitman. Though my targets were always incredibly and especially terrible people. This is something that Amemura-kun knew about me and possibly part of the reason he originally was told to seek me out by Chuuoku. I had some sort of potential based on what I used to do.

Oh.

[Wait, that meant Jakurai did in fact kill someone. Several someones. Whatever Doppo had been building himself up to, that is not what he was expecting to hear. Honestly he'd be inclined to think he was just being messed with again, but Jakurai was deadly serious.]

T-this isn't a joke, is it...

[It wasn't a question, just something Doppo has realized. He glanced over to Hifumi but, honestly how would he know something that Doppo didn't? They were almost always together.]

I kind of-I k-knew you were hiding something. You get involved in d-dangerous situations way too easily but...I'm sorry. C-can I ask why?

[What an interesting story so far. This isn't anything he ever expected to hear from a man as saintly as Jakurai.]

Hmmm... I see! No wonder you're such a fearless leader!

[Him and Doppo are two kinds of people... Hifumi managing to find positive in this, because of course he does.]

[He almost has to stifle an amused chuckle. He’s happy to know that neither one of them are running from him. But he also respects the difference in reaction.

He could always count on Hifumi to find the positive.

First he will address Doppo’s concerns. ]

Justice, as it were. If I eliminate them then they weren’t a threat.

[ He will address Hifumi next. ]

Fearless leader may not be totally correct. I just trust that I will ultimately do what is right. Even if I used to have a moral gray area.

[Justice. That was such a fitting answer for Jakurai, and almost one he'd expect. Doppo was used to just being straight up betrayed by people who he thought meant him well but as he looked and looked at the man's calm face, he couldn't find any of that.

Rather, he felt guilty for even checking. Sure, he'd felt that something about Jakurai was missing, the doctor had an edge to him that was terrifying but it had never been pointed at Doppo. He was powerful and compassionate, which was the reason he'd even gone to him with Hifumi's stalker problem.

It explained so much and so little at the same time.

He shouldn't just sit there and overthink everything, though. Jakurai probably expected an answer and was he...nervous? That they would rebuke him?]

Um! I always knew Sensei was a good person....but it was wartime, wasn't it? I don't suppose you had many choices, and-I can't really judge anyone who'd been through that....
