i: Run Snagglefoot Run

[A thief, though his magic isn't so suited to this he has other skills at his disposal. He pulls out a map from (a magical hammer space) pouch. He pointed at a spot on it after a quick glance.]

We can head him off here and set up an ambush.



ii: Farmer-R-Us

[He'd helped out on a farm or two during his four years travels so this was a little familiar.

At some point, when his sleeves and the heat had gotten to be too much, he'd stripped off the top part of his robes to tie around his waist as he worked on getting the hay into bales.

Though when it came time to casting magic on the hay he'd dressed properly and looked incredibly interested as he watched the hay's colour turn into a clean, golden colour.]

I wonder if this magic can be used on other things?

[Like water, for example.]


iii: some shopping is in order

[At some point, he needed to get more clothes. Ready made fashion isn't something he's used to so he browses a store with interest...though the styles were all a little strange to him.]

Surely not everyone fits into a standard size... [He looks thoughtful as he rubs a bit of fabric between his fingers.] Though I suppose it is easier to modify an outfit than to make one from scratch. [He lets go with a thoughtful sort of sound. Perhaps you're a stranger and maybe he's talking to himself but he does turn to you as if looking for a reply.

But he can also be found later on, in a different store just looking at fabric, asking questions about the ones he doesn't recognize the material of. One such question that might get directed your way is:]

Would this be a good fabric for summer?

I had my ways. [Sorry Chang Geng, you haven't yet unlocked her Tragic Backstory so that's all she's going to say about that.]

Unfortunately all I have is dark magic and I'm not really good at using it. [What is hard work?? She's not about to find out.]

[Fair enough.]

I have healing magic.

[Which doesn't seem useful for this...except he felt it could be useful, with the correct set up.

But there isn't much more time to consider that because he can catch the sound of footsteps.

So he gestured at her then ducked behind a corer.]

[Maybe they could torture him a little, then. They had someone here with healing magic, after all.

Shiho takes another corner so that at least like this they're guaranteed to cover all angles. She releases Tama who jumps up higher without a sound on her paws, perching to get a better view, ears twitching with the sound of footsteps coming towards them.]

[The footsteps get closer and closer until Snagglefoot appears. He's moving at a brisk pace, carrying some sort of bag.

For a brief second, right before he passes by their hiding spots he looks back to see if anyone is following him...a mistake he will regret, undoubtedly.]

[Shiho is happy to make Snagglefoot regret turning, because he'll feel something jabbing him in the side. It is, of course, Shiho's finger. But he doesn't have to know that.]

Put your hands where we can see them.

[Before Snagglefoot could try to look at who is threatening him, Chang Geng steps out as well, but in front of him. He looks as calm as ever, but without a smile on his face it looks more cold than gentle.]

I would do as the young lady says.

[He says with his sword already drawn.]

[They're going with Bad Cop and Worse Cop, then.]

So will you be a good boy then and tell us where you're hiding the goods?

[Snagglefoot looks like he's sweating--both metaphorically and literally.]

Now, now, can't we just talk this out?

[Chang Geng interrupts him gently.] Young maiden, I can't remember if I mentioned earlier, but I have healing magic.

[He's speaking to Shiho but his attention was on Snagglefoot.]

[good_ideas]

Oh? Then does that mean that you could heal a finger and we could then break it again and again?

[Your move, Snagglefoot.]

So... which one is your least favourite finger, mister?

As long as it isn't broken off.

[Snagglefoot does seem...pretty terrified. So he sweats...then tells them where his treasure is with a slight stutter.]

[good_ideas]

...Wow. That was easy? [Too easy.]

You aren't trying to pull something funny, are you? I'll find out where you live, you know.

[kiss_it_better]

[Snagglefoot assures them that, no there's no funny business!

Chang Geng made a quick hand gesture to his familiar who spread her wings and flew off.]

Qi Ming will go make sure the treasure is there. [He smiled serenely.] When she returns we'll know how to proceed.
