You're in the army now
π§ WHO: Military meet up mingle
βοΈοΈ WHAT: Military people are gathering and doing military... things.
π WHEN: March before event
πΊοΈ WHERE: Training grounds
β οΈ WARNINGS: probably a bit of violence and swear words, will update if needed
Jean sent a message to everyone who were interested in meeting up in the post he made last month. Might as well make it a proper meeting between people. It's easier to just have everyone meeting at once rather than just going one by one.
There's no fancy set up. Nothing really fancy in terms of foods or drinks (mostly water and some granola bars). It's just a place to meet and possibly show off what you can do, find some sparring buddies or new friends.
There is a sign that implies that the section "closed" off is for the meeting, but there's not much of other ways to stop people from wandering in, really.

Other than just stand around, most of Jean's skills to show go to unarmed combat. He does own a sword, but he's still a newbie when it comes to wielding it. He does train with it a bit and asks for advice from anyone else wielding a sword.
He does know how to use firearms and how to climb stuff like trees when needed. Or mountains, but they lack a mountain right now. Really most of the things he can really do with the military skills he's learned is mostly something he can explain, rather than show.
If only he had his gear here, then it would be more interesting.

Either way, he had shown up. He had figured out that he'd been able to use the storage in his armor (once), and activate each of his blades (once), but that had apparently used up any energy they might have had left due to the weird world shifting, and now he was stuck with two full-size swords and ended up needing to buy a couple of belt hooks in order to carry them. At least he had his weapons and they didn't get stuck the other way. While he could fight with his Marmora blade in its inactive knife form, the bayard was useless as a weapon when it wasn't activated. If anyone had ever wanted to see Keith dual wield, now was their chance. He didn't do it often, but that wasn't because he couldn't. He did show up in his Paladin armor, too. He didn't know what other kinds of fighters were here, and he wasn't going to test his own durability if he didn't have to... at least, not until he knew his potential sparring partners better.
When he wasn't training with someone or showing them a technique or learning a technique from someone else, he could be found grabbing water or a granola bar during breaks.]

( Kate walks into the scene with a dark haired woman clinging to a pile of clothes following her, irritation in her words as they snap off mid-sentence to protests from her familiar that, while that might be true, she wants to. )
Fine. Whatever.
( how does a blank eyed omen of death join in on sparring practice? that's something Kate doesn't know and didn't particularly plan on finding out any time soon. but, despite everything, Kate's not actually the boss of this woman β that's something she agreed to when they finally sat down and had a conversation in her hotel room β so if she wants to come along, Kate can't stop her.
but being in a familiar environment β even one that's makeshift and full of strangers β does something to put her shoulders at ease. training is, all things considered, one of the better parts of her old job. a space to burn off the excess energy which buzzes through her without any of the actual negatives of battle. no stakes, no lives to take. just herself, some strangers, and their skill.
she pulls her bun piled atop her head tighter and begins to stretch, rolling her shoulders back as she eyes up the people nearby. )
Who wants to spar?
( no point beating around the bush. she's here to see what other people can do, to push herself to that blissful point of exhaustion and make sure her own skills stay sharp. as soon as she's done warming up her muscles, let's go, randos. )

Thrawn takes a granola bar and stands off to the side, reading the room and looking at the others who have arrived.
Thrawn's specialty is space fleet tactics and combat, but he also knows about hand-to-hand combat and basic weapons use. He's more than willing to teach others to think like a tactician, and hone observational skills.

She's also equipped in her armor, and even has her sword with her, so... if anyone wants to test their skill against her, she's available. ]
