March Catch All
🧙 WHO: Keith, open to all
⚔️️ WHAT: March Catch All, training, quests, STUFF, open to plotting
sailorgundam06
🕒 WHEN: All through March, backdating to the beginning of March a-okay!
🗺️ WHERE: Camelot, the Springs, all over
⚠️ WARNINGS: None right now... will mark threads as needed
Training
[Keith was slowly figuring out his magic. Apparently, even here, he had to watch his temper. Easier for him now than when he was younger, sure, but he found out that, if he got too angry at something, his magic got a little explosive.
So, for now, his training was going to focus on maintaining his control over the magic while he was angry. Of course, he actually had to get angry first, and, for once, he was actually having a problem with that...]
=====
Snagglefoot...
[Keith hadn't expected to be doing a search and intercept, but okay... he could deal with that. Seemed easy enough, at least. So, he was prowling the area looking for this thief. He was hoping to catch him before he got to the horses and, when he spots him, he starts to follow.
The warnings about this thief being wily weren't exaggerated, that was for sure. Keith found himself trying to keep up once he was made, and was now chasing him through some back alleys. He spots an ally, someone else trying to catch the thief as well, and points at them.]
Head him off!

Snagglefoot
[Ah, it's that guy from the dragon fields and-- AH! It's that jewel thief from that one quest and headed straight her way. Makoto tries to lift the cobblestones into a wall with a punch upwards and shout! She... makes the ground rise only a foot. It's enough to make the master thief hit his knee and fall to the ground, but uh... still a lot of show for a tiny effort. (Kind of like that one Shyamalan movie that doesn't exist...)]
no subject
Do you have anything to restrain him with?
[Oops? Keith hadn't considered that.]
no subject
[Uh..... neither had Mako? She looks around a second, and spots a banner hanging from a lamppost for the upcoming masquerade... complete with silk ribbons.]
Hold on a sec! [After a few jumps, she manages to grab a ribbon and after a few tugs, tear it near the base, leaving a length sufficiently long enough for tying up a bandit.] There, how's this?
[Somewhere, a designer is crying.]
no subject
That'll do.
[Of course, this delay and clear lack of preparation on Keith's part (and Makoto's, really), were things that their quarry was filing away in the back of his mind for later when he could make an escape.
Keith took the offered ribbon and actually did a fairly reasonable job of tying Snagglefoot's arms. Someone had experience with restraining people...]
Thanks.
[He pulled the thief to his feet.]
Makoto, right? [He wasn't great at names, but she'd helped him out with those flowers for the dragons, and it had left an impression.]
no subject
[A chipper nod.]
Yup! Good to see you again, Keith-san! So where do we need to take this guy?
no subject
[Keith kept a decent grip on the guy's arms as he started walking.]
I wouldn't mind the company... and the back up.
[Care to join him, Makoto?]
no subject
[Makoto blinks and... TRIES not to blush too much, because cute guy asking for company say what?]
Ah, yeah! Yeah, definitely I can help out. Or we--
[She turns back to see where Kaede is. The large, jade green lightning bear should be a good guard. ... If he wasn't sniffing his way towards a nearby hot dog cart.]
Kaede!
no subject
Um... I think your familiar's hungry.
[Of course, now would be the perfect time for Snagglefoot to attempt an escape. Being the wily thief that he is, even a securely tied banner ribbon is something he can get out of. Keith turned at the near silent sound of running footsteps.]
Hey! He's getting away! [Well... now was good a time as any to try this out... Keith leaned into his magic, creating a firey wall to block the escape route.
He didn't immediately notice that the sword he'd had on his belt was now missing...]
no subject
[Snagglefoot tries to dodge the opposite direction, only to come to a SCREECHING halt as another wall of fire leaps up in his face, this one copper green, and with Kaede more focused now, MUCH higher than the dinky earth block earlier.]
Enough.
[The tone is calm but FIRM, and the bear's not looking too happy either.]
no subject
The two walls began to merge as a wind twisted them around each other in a circle, holding the thief in place but surrounding him with a fire tornado.]
Head over and grab him. I'll let you in.
[Keith would pause the wind long enough to give Makoto the opportunity to enter and secure Snagglefoot before releasing both spells.]
no subject
[Whoa... okay, Keith wins, she definitely can't control two elements at once yet. Still, she gives him an impressed smile and nod as she makes her way in, smirking at Snagglefoot.]
Last chance, buddy. Are you gonna come quietly, or do we need to knock you out?
no subject
And, of course, the thief would agree to come. Getting himself knocked out would make it harder to escape later... not that he'd admit that. But that purple glow from a particularly unique dagger could be seen in one of his pouches. Keith had come closer now, and both the wind and his own fire disappeared as soon as he saw it.]
You quiznakking little...
[His tone was a growl, and he reached out and grabbed it from Snagglefoot.]
That's mine!
no subject
[It’s amazing how THIS is the first time Makoto’s heard a space swear. Regardless, she holds Miffen tight as Keith retrieves his knife.]
Seriously? [Her squeeze on the thief’s arms tightens.] Try that again, and Kaede sits on you.
[Does the thief want a lightning bear to sit on him?]
we should decide if they do get him back to Camelot or if he ends up actually escaping en route LOL
Let's go. [His voice was a snarl. Keith was definitely unhappy that this guy had tried to snag his mother's blade.]
Darned coin
[Oof... yeah, even Mako's feeling a little intimidated by that response.]
You okay?
Darned coin indeed.
[No... no, he wasn't. But he didn't know Mako well enough to unload on her, so Keith held it in like he usually did. Unfortunately, steaming away like he was in this state made it easier for their quarry to work on a second escape...
He just... needed to... get a hand... free... and...]
no subject
[Yeah no, he's obviously off... but should she even press?]
Alright... [Her own tone clear that she doesn't buy it and it'd be nice if they could talk. Maybe once this crook is back behind bars--]
no subject
Sorry. I just... it's fine. Now's not a good time.
[And, yeah... definitely not a good time, because - SECOND ESCAPE ATTEMPT GET! He didn't run off when any of their stuff this time... better to just cut his losses there, but Snagglefoot was good at escaping, after all, and he was just gonna use one of his distraction techniques to keep them off his tail this time!
Yup... Keith was just going to curse again as he moved to give chase. This was his fault for being distracted, after all. He let this guy get away again!]
no subject
HEY! [Dammit not again!] Kaede!
[With a blink the bear seems to step out of existence, and then with a boom steps again in Snagglefoot's path, roaring to try and block him off.]
no subject
But he had the power of an OOC coinflip on his side...
As Makoto and Keith ran towards the group, the thief flourishes a potion that acts like a flashbang with a smokescreen, leaving the little impromptu team of five temporarily blinded and coughing in his wake as he disappears from their chase.]
no subject
[Makoto coughs and tries to rub at her stinging eyes.]
Dammit...! You alright, Keith-san?
no subject
Yeah... I'm alright... [He quickly checked his weapons, but everything was there. Good. Still, he clenched his teeth and gave a low frustrated growl.] Quiznak. [He hated when people got the jump on him like that.
He moved, guiding Kosmo away from the lingering smoke.]
Easy, buddy... [It was a slightly harder element for him to control, but he managed to wet down the wolf's face with some water to wash any smoke residue from him before splashing some in his own face and then letting Tarak splash his face around in Keith's cupped hands for a second.]
If you have something to put water in, I could make some so you could rinse off your face if you or Kaede need it.
no subject
[Shame they don't have bottomless mugs yet.]
Nngh, thanks...! [She rummages in her bag for a while before finally finding a thermos, hastily downing the last few swallows of rose-flavored black tea before squinting her eyes open and trying to hold it out to Keith.] Here...
no subject
There... try that.
[He held it out, then guided it into her hand when she reached for it.]
no subject
[There... she pours a handful of water into her cupped palm before scooping it up to her eyes, trying to blink in the water before it rushes down her face.]
Phew... thanks, Keith.
[She rubs her eyes try against her sleeve before moving to pour the rest onto Kaede's face, the bear squinting and moaning as he tries to swipe at his eyes with massive paws.]
no subject
Kaede alright?
no subject
[After a bit more water streaming, the bear begins to relax as well, if not fully. Makoto nods at him.]
Yeah, thanks to you. You're really good at this.
[Seriously, even with access to phenomenal cosmic powers at home, Keith's mastery of Avalon magic is already way better than hers.]
no subject
[Keith had A Thing when it came to making sure he got a hang of things. They'd been given something to use in this fight, and had what they would have normally used taken away from them. So, he was going to get used to it, and make the most of it. Just like how he got used to and made the most of being bonded to the Voltron Lions.]
Plus, having a bond with something is a thing I'm already used to. Back home, my team and I have bonds with our ships. Once I got used to the bond being with Tarak here instead of my ship, it really is similar to that. Here, we use that bond in order to use our magic. Back home, it's the same thing. We use our bonds with our ships to pilot them and access their different abilities. I just had to figure out how to shift that idea to a new bond.
1/2
[Ah... She knows that smile on his face all too well. Her own warms as she nods.]
That sounds... ["familiar..."]
2/2
[WAIT NO SENSHI SECRET!]
... Cool! That sounds... really cool! I uh... you sound like you're really you're really close to your ship and your team.
[TOTALLY NOT LIKE SHE'S ALSO PART OF A COLOR-CODED TEAM OF SPACE SUPERHEROES, NOT AT ALL.]
no subject
Ah, yeah. It's one of those things, you know... where you can't help but get close, I guess. Working together the way we do... with the bonds and all that... it really kind of opens you up to the rest of your team, and them to you. It's hard not to get close in a situation like that.
no subject
[She nods again, that soft smile returning.]
Exactly. Your team's lucky to have you, Keith.
[He sounds like a really good team mate.]
no subject
I don't know. I think I'm lucky to have them.
training
...with very slow-going results. Even Pyrrha gets frustrated sometimes; she lets out a quiet sigh and bows her head in disappointment before rising to her feet again. She turns and sees the other person at the training grounds, and Pyrrha gets an idea. She walks up to him quietly, though the clacking of her heels on the ground will give away her presence. ]
Excuse me? Sorry, I hope I'm not interrupting you -- I have a strange request, if you have the time?
no subject
Interrupted.
That was both perfect and terrible. His frustration spiked because, geeze! He was doing something here! But, at the same time, his frustration spiked, and a small ball of flame popped from his hands. Nothing dangerous, thankfully, as he'd managed to pull it back just in time, but he hadn't been able to completely squash the reaction.
He took a deep breath.]
Sorry... Um... what do you need?
[He sounded... stressed.]
no subject
I...was only going to ask if you'd sustained any injuries. I was looking for someone who'd be willing to allow me to try out some healing magic.
[ She holds up her hands in front of her to try to placate him a bit. ]
That's all. I'm sorry if I'm bothering you.
no subject
Sorry, I-... no... you're not bothering me. [He shook his head.] I just found out the hard way that the fire part of my element magic seems to be triggered by my temper, so... I was attempting to figure out how to control that.
[He gave a tiny shrug.] If anything, that actually helped a little. [In regards to her interruption...]
But I uh... oh. I don't... [Help with healing magic. That was... hm.] I'm not injured at the moment...? [Which, all things considered, was kind of rare for him. He usually had at least a bruise or something somewhere. Then again, he had been getting better at controlling his impulse to fight people who pissed him off, so that probably helped when it came to him being beat up in some way.]
How much help do you need? [Kosmo likely wouldn't, but Keith wouldn't be surprised if his familiar would be willing to bite him for the sake of magic training...]
no subject
[ Even if that's not what she was going for, at least her interruption did something good for him. Fire magic seems like something more up her alley but alas, she's been tasked with learning the art of healing. It's a shame she can't really practice on him, but it's okay. She'll figure something out! ]
Oh -- in that case, that's okay. I can always find another way to practice. [ Hmm. ] Maybe I can help you with your magic instead? Hopefully by not triggering your temper, unless that's what you want me to do...?
[ She can't guarantee she'd be any good at it, though. ]
no subject
[The little winged snake with horns that was hovering around then dove in suddenly, chomping down on Keith's hand... hard. Need an injury to heal? Tarak the kotka has you covered.]
HEY!
[See? Familiars could be helpful for magic training...]
no subject
[ Wow, okay, that was unexpected. Pyrrha's eyes go wide when Tarak chomps on Keith's hand. Her phoenix squawks in amusement, and she steps towards Keith, holding her hands out a little awkwardly. ]
Well, I guess that's one way...
[ She shrugs and gives him a wry grin. ]
A-anyway, I might be able to help you with that. Would you mind letting me try?
no subject
Yeah... thanks. [Due to the bond they had with their familiars, Keith understood wat Tarak was doing. He just wished there'd been a better way.] He's a little... enthusiastic.
[That was the nice way of putting it, anyway.
He held out his hand for her to look at.
The bite wasn't deep. Tarak was about the size of an average parrot, so his teeth, while very sharp, could only dig so far into Keith's hand. But the little serpent-like creature had managed to draw some blood.]
