[There are certainly stranger jobs that Jade has picked up in recent memory, most of them alongside friends back home, so seeking out a missing rabbit that’s on the lookout for a mate doesn’t strike her as a particularly odd request— but she had underestimated just how many Bunny CafĂ©s have come into being in honor of the season.
She collapses into a chair at one of the tables at the fourth café she investigates, folding her arms and dropping her head to rest it against them.]
How is anyone meant to find a single rabbit in a city this size? I severely underestimated just how difficult this would be…
[He’s an angora, so he ought to stand out, or so the description had implied. She sighs, lifting her chin to rest it in her hand and prop her elbow against the table as she looks to whoever happens to be sitting nearest to her.]
You wouldn’t have happened to spot a particularly… aggressively friendly rabbit recently, would you?
[Curse this lothario lagomorph!
Alternatively, feel free to cross paths with her at any of the other pop-up cafés in your own search, if you so choose.]
ii. home sweet home ( closed to eleven )
[It had only taken a few short weeks before Jade had decided she'd had her fill of the hotel. It was kind enough of the city to provide for newcomers, but it's become abundantly clear that this situation is not temporary and thus, more permanent lodgings are called for.
Eleven has been somewhat more hesitant. The city is a bit big for him, Jade thinks, and to a degree she can empathize— though she had been born in Heliodor, she had spent most of her life on the road with Rab, sleeping in tents or small-town inns. Camelot certainly has the potential to be overwhelming, but if they're going to thrive here, she figures they ought to be close to where everything happens. Fortunately, she had gotten him to agree to go look at places to live with her, and both Bella and Tickety-Boo had come along to offer their insight— whatever that might be worth in the long run.
They've seen two flats so far, but both were a bit small for two people, and Jade has been working enough that she thinks they might be able to find something that better suits both of them. They're in a quiet neighborhood near the edge of the city now, and she gives her companion a questioning look as they walk.]
This isn't so bad. Less noisy than the rest, don't you think?
[Maybe not Cobblestone-quaint, but something.]
iii. to catch a thief ( closed to dimitri )
[Another return trip to the Red Spring, but with a much different purpose this time around— Jade had come here in weeks past to look for familiar faces, make use of the training facilities or simply soak up the ambience, but this time she comes with a particular task in mind, as well as company to help her handle it. While she has no doubt she can take care of a common thief on her own, the trip to the Red Spring is long enough that she hadn't quite felt up to making it all on her lonesome. After years of only a single travel companion, she's found she's grown quite tired of solitude. Dimitri has proven himself to be good company as well as an excellent sparring partner— even the gnome debacle following that awful elevator hadn't negated that, and so it seemed only natural that she ask him to accompany her.
Her expression is carefully neutral as she and Dimitri approach the inn, and she carefully scans their surroundings. Nothing seems out of place, so far, but if the man they're after is any good at his job, then she supposes it wouldn't.]
If he's hoping to rent a horse, he'll have to pass through here.
[She's also hoping the sketch they had been given of one Snagglefoot Miffen was reasonably accurate, or else it was going to be difficult to spot him.]
What do you say we politely ask the proprietor if they've seen anyone fitting his description?
[If polite doesn't work, there are certainly other methods to employ, but she's hoping they can save intimidation for Snagglefoot himself.]

[Anything else goes here! If you want to work something out together, feel free to hit me up via PM or atnecrofancy, or just leave a starter and see what’s what! Jade is out and about doing odd jobs and exploring the city this month as she makes herself at home, and will be offering herself as muscle for hire for anyone who needs it while she’s still finding her way.]
no subject
I hardly need the reminder both of us are trapped here.
[He glances around, seeing nothing and nobody.]
Where is your master?
no subject
"You really do have a short temper, don't you?"
[She shrugs and gestures towards the door, indicating the town at large.]
"She's out there somewhere with a very handsome fellow. Investigating."
no subject
The thief, I presume?
[It would be the only logical explanation.]
no subject
The succubat nods with a flick of her tail, confirming.]
"She thought it would be better if we split up."
[Not that Bella is looking terribly hard, at present. She's more curious about Jasper.]
"And is that why you're here, too?"
no subject
[Not that he is searching. He feels more curious about the drinks and service at the hotel bar.]
If she thought it best to separate, she cannot hold a good opinion of your company.
[Maybe he's projecting.]
no subject
"Of course that's not it! We get along just fine, but we can cover more ground this way!"
[In theory— if Bella were actually doing what she'd said she intended to do, but she's let Jasper distract her, now.]
"If she did want me out of the way, she would have just asked! I wouldn't blame her if it was because she wanted to spend some time alone with her quest partner."
[She waggles the tufts above her eyes that serve as eyebrows. Apparently, this familiar has a taste for gossip.]
"I notice you're here all alone, hm?"
no subject
Indeed. A very agreeable situation.
[No Luminary. No Princess. No Hendrik. Agreeable indeed!]
Working as hard as you are, I should assume!
[He, too, can be lazy.]
no subject
[She can reach her 'master' in the blink of an eye— one of the many perks of being a familiar. Really, she's coming to like this place.]
"She would probably hate that I'm talking to you."
no subject
There is more to loathe than a simple matter of communication.
[It is not a question. He knows what he is and what he has done.]
You have your own mind, surely?
no subject
[She puffs up a little, offended that he would dare to insinuate otherwise.]
"I just haven't made it up yet, that's all. I do know who you are."
[Word kind of got around about what you did, buddy.]
no subject
Then I shall spare my words. Have you made your mind up now, perhaps?
[Perhaps he is enjoying this a little.]
no subject
"Not yet. You're an interesting one, I'll give you that."
[If she had meant to say more, she doesn't get the chance— her attention turns towards the door of the inn, and though it remains closed at the moment, she gives him a knowing smile that comes out just a bit fangy.]
"Hey, she's coming, so if you wanted to avoid—"
[Bella, however, finds herself cut off as the door opens to reveal Jade— whose expression hardens for a moment as she steps inside and spots Jasper, only to be schooled into something perfectly neutral in the moments that follow.
Bella laughs and gives another shrug.]
"She was closer than I thought."
no subject
Obviously.
[One arm lifts; a gesture of his hand an indication of his awareness of Jade's presence. She should not be a comfortable, pleasant sight. And so he puts on another performance.]
Good morning, princess! How splendid of you to join us.
[He doesn't particularily care it might be the afternoon - or however late this is.]
no subject
All of that, and yet it pricks at her now, insistent and annoying, and yet this isn't the time or place to pick a fight. What good would it do, anyway?
None at all.]
I didn't realize I was interrupting.
[Her voice is even and calm, though not without a great deal of effort, and even as she looks to Bella, the succubat laughs nervously in response.]
"There's no thief in here, so I'll just go look outside while you two talk!"
[Before Jade can protest, her familiar vanishes into thin air, leaving the two of them alone, and she exhales before dropping a hand to rest against her hip while she gestures vaguely with the other.]
She does that.
[She would rather have a playful familiar than a mean-spirited one, surely, but Bella's flightiness can be exhausting.]
no subject
You ought keep her on a firm leash.
[Kindness and understanding are not exactly his master's favoured qualities.]
no subject
[She arches a brow, and her tone very much betrays the fact that she disagrees.]
She is a partner, not a pet. I intend to treat her as such.
[Which to her, means respecting Bella's... individuality, let's say. She's harmless, at least, if prone to gossip and playful mischief.]
no subject
[Derision dripping off his words, he rests a hand against his hip. Even playing with her imaginary tea party friends she was thoughtful. Considerate and courteous to a fault. All reminders of how he had received their treatment of being somebody to pick up and place away.]
The result of a sheltered upbringing, I suppose.
[She had lost her mother which, yes, was tragic. But what other difficulty had she endured?]
no subject
[Had she stayed in Heliodor, then yes, perhaps— or maybe even something much worse than simply sheltered, considering that pretender that had taken her father's place, but it's not an argument she wishes to have now, here in public, if they ever have it at all. What's done is done.]
You were not always so cold.
no subject
[Small admittances are all he is willing to share about their shared life. Lecturing on personal moments has never been as appealing as writing them down - and even that desire has faded away with time.]
The world is cold enough. And as we know, the world has claims on us all.
[Though of course she is going to talk of friends and optimism. The very thought curdles his expression.]
no subject
She sighs, then lifts her chin and gestures past him with one hand.]
If you would let me pass, I have work to do.
[No need, she supposes, to stand here and glower at one another.]
