A. Reaching For Something in the Distance (Training)

[Being pulled into a whole other world to help save it and other worlds? Time stopping back home on top of it? The high stakes are disturbing, but honestly not too surprising anymore. Makoto and her friends have saved the Earth, the solar system, the time line from certain doom quite a few times by now. Losing her connection to Jupiter, her strength and ability to transform? That… that stings, almost like losing a sense. But she at least has Elemental magic, it turns out, so she should at least still control lightning. And earth, and water, and air, quite a few other things actually. Really weird, but... comforting in a way. It makes her feel like the girls are lending her their strength.

Makoto shakes herself out of her thoughts drifting like that, turning her attention to the large bear at her side, the fur a glowing jade green and with short forks of lightning arcing from it. Still Makoto doesn’t seem harmed at all as she gives him a light pet between the ears.]

Alright, Kaede… third time’s the charm.

[She squares up her stance, takes a deep breath in, out, in… and punches towards the target with a loud] HA!

[What she’s trying to do is zap it with lightning. What happens is… giving the target a splash of water, fit for a kiddie pool.]

Oh come on!


B. So Close You Can Almost Taste It (Sir Fuzzlerton the Cad)

[This quest should have been a piece of cake, really. Sit at a café, look around for a rabbit fitting Sir Fuzzlerton’s description, enjoy some tea and adorable desserts while she’s at it. If he’s not there, finish said tea and cake (brisky though, she knows when to focus at least) and repeat. Simple, fun, cute task… the first couple times.

By the third café though, Makoto’s limiting herself to a turkey sandwich, a small salad, and a cup of herbal tea, no matter how tempting that mille-feuille looks… or the strawberry tart… or the pink Swiss roll cake… or the chocolate gateau… or the lattes with the really, REALLY beautiful foam art. She knows she’d only end up with a caffeine rush and crush, or an upset stomach. It’s actually rather packed in here, so you might end up seated at a table right next to hers, or even across from her table for one if you’re up for it.]

Ugh… you’d think there’d be *one* white rabbit with a brown left ear and brown spectacles, but nooo…

[She’s groaning to herself more than anything, but feel free to chime in too.]


C. Release Your Inhibitions (Farmers-R-Us)

[While Makoto’s never done actual farm work before, she is strong (still quite above average even if her super strength is gone) and knows a lot about gardening. Any time she can work with plants is a good time for her. She tries to help out wherever she’s needed, whether it’s hauling bags of seed, wheeling carts with water jugs, breaking the ground and making rows, or gathering up hay for baling, Mako can be found pretty much anywhere around a given farm. Maybe not working as quickly as she’d like… heck maybe at one point she could use a water break, she’s not used to pacing herself *this* much. She should be fine, right?]

[Dear lord, even the name is adorable! She gives his hand a nice firm shake back.]

Makoto Kino. [She gestures in a light "tada!" way at the raiju who's finally made his way over.] And this is Kaede~! Say hello, boy~

[Hopefully Fenton won't mind said lightning bear blinking and then sniffing ever closer into his personal bubble. He's not hungry (not very, at least) just curious.]

[doctorintern]

[ He feels a little nervous as Kaede sniffs around him, but he manages a - nervous - smile anyway. ]

It's uh...good to meet you too, Kaede. [ Then he gestures up to his hair, where the Pixie is peeking out from around the flower. ] And you've already sorta met Meadowbell.

[Kaede gives the duck's hair (how do ducks have hair?!?!) a gentle sniff as well, and Mako encourages him with scritches to his neck.]

See? He's a total sweetheart.

[doctorintern]

[ Meadowbell giggles a little as Kaede sniffs around her, and she reaches up to gently pat the raiju's nose. ]

Interesting! So the lightning doesn't discharge by simple contact.

[A soft chuckle.] Yeah, Kaede has really good control of it. Helps that he's so laid-back and careful too.

[Almost to the point of being timid, taking the nose pats as if he's afraid she's going to break just from touching him. She won't, but she's TINY and he's big and made of electricity.]

[doctorintern]

That's an impressive amount of control!

[ Pardon him while he take a moment to jot that down. ]

So, is there any correlation or similarities between your magic and your familiar's magic? I'm curious to see if there's any connection between the familiars we're bonded to and our magic.

[roseeclair]

Oh yeah; I've got Elemental magic, which makes sense. [A blink, and a strangle nervous chuckle.] You know, since... he's a lightning bear, and lightning's an element...

[It certainly doesn't make sense like her having such powers back home, noooo not at all.]

[doctorintern]

[ His smile brightens a bit. ] Is that so? Incidentally, I have Elemental magic as well! Or at least, I believe so. I've been able to create sparks of electricity myself.

[ He glances upwards as Meadowbell holds the flower out to Kaede. ] I believe Meadowbell has some control of plant life, so I suppose our magics are also similar.

[roseeclair]

Yeah, maybe... [She pouts to herself for a minute. It'd be nice if her actual connection to plants was still intact.] I've tried to actually control plants here, but no dice so far. And I can control earth and water and fire instead of just lightning... or well, try to.

[doctorintern]

Wow! That's impressive.

[ Definitely more than what he's been able to do so far, but it's a learning process. ]

It seems "elemental" magic does cover a broad spectrum of things, so you'll probably be able to control plants as your magic develops.

[ ...possibly? He isn't sure how magic works. ]

[Surprisingly, he turns out more correct than he thinks. For now, Mako gives him a smile that's a little wistful underneath.]

Yeah, it'd be nice. It'd definitely help here with the flower crowns. So, hyacinths...

[doctorintern]

...oh right!

[ That's right, they were in the middle of something. ]

So, uh...what other flowers could we use?

[roseeclair]

Let's see... friendship would probably work. Ooh! Maybe we can find some oak-leaf geraniums, those would look nice with the hyacinths! Oh! Right, and crocuses mean youthful gladness too! That's the meaning you were looking for with the lilacs earlier, right?

[Wink! So yeah, he'd been on the right track!]

[doctorintern]

Yes, that's exactly the message I was going for! Perfect! Perhaps we can try to find both, since it doesn't seem like there's a limit to how many flowers we can use. It's only a minimum of two, right?

Yeah, exactly! Think those three together will look really pretty!

[doctorintern]

Positively! [ He actually has no idea. ] So where can we find some?

[roseeclair]

Let's see... we've got plenty of hyacinths here already-- oh hey! [She stops in the middle of looking around.] There's some crocuses right there, next to the daffodils.

[The perks of magical flower meadows.]

[doctorintern]

Ah, how fortuitous!

[ He can recognize daffodils, at least, so he heads over to pick some of the crocuses. ]

How much do you think we'll need?

[roseeclair]

Let's see... maybe eight? You're supposed to make one for the dragon too, so that's four each.

[And crocuses are a decently big flower too, so best not to overwhelm the crown.]

[doctorintern]

[ With a thumbs up, he picks the flowers - eight for the crown, plus an extra one for Meadowbell, who pulls it in enough so that he's wearing it in his hair - before returning over to Makoto. ]
