[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku can’t tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? It’s crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasn’t taken anything away from Izuku’s determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.

But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. He’s been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means he’ll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]

Alright, I’m not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if I’m here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!

[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the bird’s eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!

[b: quest: farmers-r-us]

[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. He’s working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. He’s slow at the work at first but he’s getting better at it bit by bit. And when he’s not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!

What he doesn’t notice right away while he’s working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field he’s working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]

Eh-??! [Whoosh!!

In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]

Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!

[How does he get the swarm of bees pixies to stop?! They’re starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]

[c: 🥦 broadsword shopping]

[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isn’t always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasn’t quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.

And who doesn’t want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?

Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. He’s never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just … so freaking cool.]

Uaa... These swords are amazing! I can’t believe I’m really here and I can get one…!

[d: 🥦 alchemy studying]

[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.

And that is where Izuku is right now. He’s sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. He’s currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.

Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]

If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...

[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]

And just how long do you think you're going to be able to sustain that?

[ Because it's not going to take too much to break that grip. ]

Every time you destroyed your arms you destroyed tendons and ligaments. Nerves. There's only so much elasticity in them. The problem isn't your raw strength. The problem is your grip. You probably didn't notice it too much with One For All, but you'll notice it here. Especially since you had to heal the natural way on the island. Physical therapy for that shit is like twelve weeks, Deku.

[Izuku looks down at his hand. The scarred one is still holding Katuski's hand but his grip loosens to a normal hold.

It's true that without One For All he doesn't have it enhancing his endurance anymore either. In this place, he really is a normal quirkless person again. With no random healing quirks that can bounce him back or accelerate his healing. Training muscles and grip back to where they're supposed to be is an entirely different ballgame.]

I didn't notice it before, I don't know if it's as bad as you think. [Izuku's normal stubbornness again, no doubt.] There isn't enough time to do twelves weeks of physical therapy, but with some handgrip training...

[ Okay, Deku. Now it's a little weird. Don't go just holding his hand? Katsuki's ears burn more fiercely as he snatches his hand back and rubs it on his pant leg a bit. It... Tingles okay? ]

I don't know how bad it is obviously! I'm not a damn doctor! I just know you'll permanently damage it and fuck it up worse if you're not careful, dipshit!

[ Grr grr grr! ]

Ain't a chance in hell that I want you to use the excuse of not being able to properly take care of yourself being the reason why I crush you next time we fight!

[ NOT BECAUSE HE'S WORRIED.

Though he had been about to point out that a lighter sword would also work better because Deku's strongest muscles are in his legs now, not necessarily his arms. Claymores and broadswords aren't really meant for quick and fast assaults. More like cleaving. A short sword would probably be best because of Deku's movement capabilities. ]

Ahah- Maybe...!

[He's still flattered about the whole sidekick remark in the first place it seems. Izuku's cheeks turn pink for a fraction of a second before he focuses on the task at hand again.

This guy really hates parents doesn't he-]

I don't know what prisons are like here in this world- But I wonder if they have some sort of detention center that uses magic or curses to keep the inmates in... [He starts to brainstorm out loud, also wondering if this will change the thief's tune.] Curses are pretty terrible from what I've read.

[He crouches down and stares at the criminal.]

Do you want to deal with curses on your head?

[It's that sharp look in Shigaraki's eye that has Izuku tensing. He almost clenches his fists again. Almost gets ready to pounce on the man and fight him until someone- something- submits. In his heart, he knows that a man as dangerous as Shigaraki shouldn't be allowed to just walk around. In any world. But The part of his heart that had realized that maybe there is something more to Shigaraki than most people think is the thing that makes Izuku's ears ring with a high-pitched noise in his head.

If only he had the voices of his predecessors here to help him now. What would they say?

And for all the things that Shigaraki says to him right now Izuku really almost takes it all to heart and throws himself at the man. Almost. But he doesn't. Not after everything he's been through and what he's talked to Katsuki about in passing.

This isn't the time- they're not ready.]

You can say what you want to me, it doesn't change what the truth actually is. There is something that we both know about each other- And something that isn't resolved either. I think you know that. If you want to call yourself dangerous or not is your own words, not mine.

[His expression changes, softens. That crossed tension is still in his heart but...]

And if you pick to act on your own words, just know I won't stand around for that. So turn your back if you want to.

[It's okay Ochako, Izuku isn't doing much better over here. His eyes are watering from all the sneezing and he feels like his head is about three times as big from the congestion. It really feels like some sort of cold or fever curse and it's only getting worse for them. The faster they get to helping and apologizing to these little fae creatures the better and with that he really hopes they lift this head cold curse too...]

Ahh... That's right-! We're both heroes! We don't have any iron with us...? [Not yet anyway- Whoops.] But I have alchemy magic, I should be able to fix what we broke! And we can add something to the structure to make it larger too!

[He glances at Ochako. Right? Can they do that?? He's kind of flying by the seat of his pants here.]

Uraraka-san, do you have anything you could give to make their nest... pretty?

[idk Like a hairclip or something??]

It's- it's nothing...!!

[Don't worry about Izuku, he's just still lamenting the fact that he's lost his powers from home. It's still a bit of a sore spot, it seems!

But right now they have a criminal to deal with. And even if he doesn't have his powers from home that doesn't stop him from wanting to do the right thing. And sometimes that's kicking some criminal butt. And throwing them into the hands of the authorities as well.

When Lizzie takes the man, Izuku comes to go with her, checking his bindings to make sure they're tight enough should he wake up.]

Alright, let's get back to town. We can leave him with the proper people where he won't go around stealing what isn't his again.

[Hopefully the justice system is fair here.]

Yeah. Hero stories are important... It's a big part of our culture.

[Nanaki's expression that he used to regret being his father's soon makes him curious. But he doesn't want to step on any toes if Nanaki doesn't want to share of course!]

I- If you don't mind me asking... What happened?

It was already a lot of help that you had that piece of quartz. I'm glad you were here, Tsu-chan.

[Phew! They will manage to get around the crowd of fluttering pixies. And they can make their way back to where Izuku had stomped all over their little fairy nest. Izuku feels bad all over again when he sees it.]

I might need help holding some things in place, actually...

[He kneels down on his knees and starts to scoop together some of the broken wood bits.]

[He absolutely is one of them that is from the future. He hadn't wanted to hurt his classmates somehow by knowing things from the future as well. Can't be too sure how any of that works! So he's kept quiet about it!]

I think you're right...! I can't wait to learn more. Learning magic on top of this too, it's just... amazing!

[He smiles and with his sword selected he motions towards the door that will go out to the training yard out back.]

I think we can try some sparing out there? If you want?

[He wasn't trying to make it weird! Izuku quickly jolts back and puts his hands up.]

Then I'll go see someone about it to see if there's anything else I can do! It's not going to be an issue, Kacchan! I can take care of it!

[So stubborn. And Izuku is just so set on doing things the way he wants to right now. With the sword choice included. But he realizes maybe he should listen to Katsuki in this case? ... Is he worried? No- no way.]

[ Nope. Not worried at all.

Now there's something settling between them. Something... Different. It's not the normal tension that's usually between them. No, this makes his pulse quicken and, yes, his palms sweat and fingers twitch. There's a feeling that he should do something. That he should fill the silence that usually never had bothered
him before. In fact he had preferred it.

Katsuki feels like he is expecting something to happen. Waiting for it to. And yet - ]

Imma go get another box.

[ It unnerves him. ]

[When Katsuki brushes past to get another box Izuku stands there and looks over his shoulder at him. His hands drop and he holds the one that had been holding Katsuki for that brief moment. His fingers brushing over the tingling sensation there.

... He quickly looks down.]

There's just one more box...

[There is something different right now. Something that makes his heart feel tight in his chest. These tiny moments of laughing and touching- Katsuki being... worried maybe??

He puts that tingling hand on his chest before he tries to calm down. He'll try to look normal by the time Katsuki gets back, quickly shoving the rest of his books into the shelf.]

[ It's the same for Bakugou. He's leaving to calm down because he's a jumble of emotions. Whatever has changed between them - whatever has shifted - is really starting to become more and more noticeable. The blonde doesn't know how to address it because he doesn't rightfully know what it is. But then again talking about it means admitting that it's there and just...

Katsuki is just flat out embarrassed to admit it all to himself. No way could he admit that he doesn't know what's going on to Izuku. Just no. That's why he goes and brings the last box inside. All Katsuki needs is some fresh air and time to calm down and maybe rub at his hand a little. ]

Got it.

[When it comes down to it, even with the little arguments or the things they don't agree on...? He's actually really happy this is happening. Sharing a place with Katsuki makes it feel like they're really getting along. Friends, even.

... Maybe something more- ... No- Probably not good to let his brain go off in that direction. Again.

Even if these little moments make his chest pinch.

He quickly takes a few deep breathes and stretches out his hand (maybe he will look into the grip issue...) and once his books are finished with he goes back to the bit of clothing he has goes to hang them up.]

[A head cold curse...truly the worst kind, and Ochako is starting to cough as well, as her throat starts to get itchy and scratchy. Good lord, if they expect them to fix anything while being sick like this, those shitty pixies have another thing coming. They'll for real collapse of fatigue!! It's unhealthy!

Coughing a bit, Ochako thinks a bit before thumping her fist into her palm and digging out her cell phone from a back pocket. She fiddles with someone on it, and then holds out a pretty charm to Deku, that used to adorn it.]

How 'bout this? [It's floral, and also a bell, too!! Should fit right in, she'd wager. She got it a long time ago, when she visited a temple to do last year's prayers on the holiday, around her birthday. Cheap, but still cute.] Make 'em get rid'a the cold first, though, Deku!! There's no way we can work with a fever like this!!

[She's already speaking like she's got cotton stuffed up her nose, here.]

[She is getting used to fine motor things with her powers, and so...after inspecting it, waves her hands and creates a little shell. It's open at the top, but it should encompass the fairy nest from the outside.]

If you wanna, build in from there, and I'll keep it standing upright as you work.

[ Katsuki himself has mixed emotions about all of this. On one hand, it does alleviate some of his concerns. Especially with that bastard running around. Katsuki can definitely keep a better eye on Izuku this way.

But being in such a small space with him... Something about that also just makes his anxiety spike. Like he's going to get caught with his hand in the cookie jar or get in trouble. Or be exposed? Maybe that's the correct word. But why should he feel something like that? ]

How did you manage to get so much shit already...

I see, well, does your little goat like it? It is, after all, to be his name.

[He tilts his head curiously at the term "video game" but gets immediately distracted by the thought of horseback riding.]

It really is. Learning to ride and care for horses seems essential. I would be happy to teach that to you as well.

But let's concentrate on getting you the best broadsword. Then we can practice and have lunch if you want.

[This time when Katsuki returns there seems to be a small goat following at Katsuki's heel. Where did he come from? Probably doesn't matter much. He's following Katsuki's heel and sits next to Katsuki's foot where Katsuki might stop.

Izuku looks down at his familiar ... And frowns. Because he knows that the goat is only doing that because of Izuku's own feelings.]

Ah- I ...

[He shoves his cloak into the closet roughly.]

There were a lot of books I wanted to read. On top of the basic alchemy kits that were given out, the materials I've been working on, the history I wanted to go over about this world, my things from South Sister and my new sword... It all started to pile up, I guess?

[ Katsuki catches the frown. Not really sure where it's aimed at. Though he does look at the goat that just seems to... Like him? Follow him around? He's not sure what that thing is doing either. Oh well. Whatever. He's not going to do anything to it just yet. ]

How many basic alchemy kits do you even need?

[ Oh god. Is Deku a reckless spender? Is that something that Katsuki is going to have to watch too? ]

[Fingers crossed that it is. And if it's not, well... Lizzie has no qualms about following this guy around and making his life miserable for awhile.

But only if she has to.]

That sounds good. If nothing else, we can be content that we've stopped him even if we can't recover what's already lost.

Wha- That's great, Tsu-chan!

[They work pretty well together! So, Izuku gets started in using some flashes of alchemy here and there to reconstruct the broken pieces of structure. He adds enough space, places for soft bedding, open slots for fresh air like tiny windows and some nooks and crannies for them to play and hide in. Not bad, this kind of is like playing with legos.]

Does that look alright?

[The pixies start to join them and hover closer and check out the structure. One of the pixies even moves to watch from a perch on Tsuyu's head.]

[Izuku looks down at his goat in his arms and the little one does seem to wiggle and bleat curiously.]

Ah, he doesn't talk like some familiars do.

[He gives the goat a small pet to his belly and he bleats again as if to say he's about fifty-fifty on the idea.]

Toshi-kun would be a nice nickname.

[And that seems to have the goat let out a louder bleat in delight!]
