⚔️️ WHAT: arriving, getting used to her new magic, quests etc!
🕒 WHEN: february catchall
🗺️ WHERE: everywhere, more than likely
⚠️ WARNINGS: probably some violence, will update as needed!
i; arrival: the red spring
[ you know, it would be really nice if she could go like.. five minutes without encountering some life-altering fiasco. she only just returned home.
but the fates are cruel. but what else is she to do but roll with the punches? she's here, hydaelyn is in great danger yet again, and apparently, plenty of other worlds besides. it's a lot to swallow - or it would be, had she not been through such similar songs and dances before. you can only face the threat of your home and countries and worlds so many times before you begin to grow a thick skin. by no means does that mean she is not taking this gravely seriously, but it at least does not come as a disarming, mind-shattering shock.
she'll get through this. she'll manage. she always does.
not that it means that any of this is at all easy. by the time they reach the red springs alisaie is beginning to decompress, to breathe for a moment, and think. with her boots off, alisaie sits at the edge of the springs with her bare feet in the water up to the knee, leaning back on her hands. her familiar hovers near her shoulder, and alisaie sighs, tossing the phoenix a sidelong stare. ]
What have we gotten ourselves into, hm?
ii; training - new magic is new
[ at the very least, alisaie is quite thankful for a good place to train. she can find ways to keep busy and exercise, but it feels much better to use a real, proper training ground that is built for this purpose. most especially considering she's got to learn a whole new method of channeling magic..
thankfully, this is not so new to her. in fact, alisaie has been weaving aether and flinging spells practically since the moment she was born, so while the fabric of this world's magic might feel a little different - satin rather than silk - she has all the building blocks for spellweaving under her belt already. and, not to toot her own horn, but she thinks she's always been rather good at it, most especially when crafting more destructive magicks, like the elemental school seems to afford. fire, lightning, earth, wind - these elements come to her call and swim beneath her fingertips with all the ease of breathing in and out.
of course, that does not make it entirely easy. like a crafter picking up a new tool, there is a definite learning curve. she does not yet grasp all the properties of this magic, she is not familiar with its versatility, its volatility, its personality. several fire spells nearly go off in her face, much to her clear chagrin (and singed cuffs), but after a solid few tireless hours she has it. pulling the essence of fire from within herself, alisaie channels it through her crystal focus, and - ]
Oh, I've got you now -
[ fierce and destructive, the fire springs from her hands in a tight ball, careening for her target training dummy and catching its target with a nice, satisfying little blast. with a hoot of triumph, she hops and thrusts both fists into the air, one still grasping her rapier and focus. ]
iii; quest: the libryrinth
[ alisaie hardly needs to think twice before accepting a quest like this.
it seems a small, minor task in the face of the great threat that they face, their worlds hanging still in peril, yet for as anxious as she is to move forward, alisaie quite understands that.. these things take time, and importantly, she must needs carve out a place for herself here, if she is to succeed in her goal. this, of course, means fetch quests of all kinds, and so she will oblige, especially when it means sneaking into a mysterious library.
she wouldn't say that stealth is her number one skill, but alisaie is small and light on her feet, and she has sneaked up on plenty an enemy in her time, so she's confident in her ability to see this through - though that, too, relies also on her partner. she is new enough to this city that it seemed appropriate not to work alone. and so she crouches beside a window leading into the library, and glances toward her partner, her voice low. ]
Are you ready?
iv; quest: save a beast, kill a man
[ alisaie has a chivalrous enough heart to be happy enough to pick up this particular task. killing without absolute need is not exactly ideal, but she thinks, perhaps, all she needs do is return to the selkie her skin. that's the deal. if he does not cooperate, well, that is a different matter, but..
here's hoping that her rapier will be persuasive enough to see it done.
as before, she has linked up with a partner to see this thing through, for when both a man and a kraken are involved, one never can be too careful, especially considering she's yet to encounter a kraken here. it could be entirely different from what you can find on hydaelyn, and even the ones from home are certainly forces to be reckoned with. still, she's making quick time, jogging toward the south beach with one hand hovering over her rapier, though there's still a bit of ground left to cover. ]
Do we have a plan?
v; wildcard
[ wildcard edition! feel free to toss me something entirely different, alisaie can easily be found in most any location, reasonably, or you can tweak one of the above prompts to your liking instead. i'm also happy to plot out something entirely different with you, as well! ]

i
He sits on the end of the springs himself, feet dangling in the water to refresh and renew. It seems he doesn't care too much for any sort of separation there should be between genders. He only minds how nice the hot water feels on his aching feet.
He tilts his head and comments to the girl as he might be pretending to be the phoenix' voice himself.]
A very wishy-washy situation, it seems.
[As in that poor lake dive they all had to go through...]
Quite rude of them to pluck us up where we stood, wasn't it!
no subject
.. I should say so.
[ she responds, after a moment of thought, before heaving a theatrical sigh and shrugging both soldiers. ]
Though I suppose it can be forgiven, given the disaster at hand.
no subject
Help with the disaster and be sent home? Surely I hope they plan to pay us better.
[The hot spring treatment is nice, though.]

Is it too much to hope that I could enjoy a nice dessert in peace?
[ she says, sharply. alisaie might not've been so immediately aggressive had emet not gone and brought her brother into it, but no one talks shit about alphinaud on her watch, only alisaie can drag him!! ]
Keep mention of him out of your mouth. My brother is worth a thousand of you.
no subject
That isn't terribly reassuring, as one Scion here is one Scion too many for him. With the rogue and the girl, that makes two out of a merry band of six if one includes the Oracle. Or should that be seven with the presence of her counterpart...? ]
And yet I seem to recall both you and your brother falling quite swiftly to my might.
[ He should just shut up and walk away. He doesn't like them and he doubts he ever will. It's difficult to like the people responsible for holding you down while someone kills you. ]
Without your vaunted hero, you're not even worth one-thousandth of me.

But she is very good with heights, so marching around on top of shelves doesn't bother her.]
Barbara ready. [She peers through the window. She's planning to let her partner handle that bit since Barbara's not all that stealthy herself and is used to just wandering in and out of buildings without permission.] Strange place, but not see sentry in this room. You open window?
no subject
Aye. One moment.
[ carefully, alisaie slips her slim fingers beneath the edge of the window and carefully, quietly, begins to slide it upward. it's one of those narrow awning type windows that they'll need to squeeze their way through, but it gives easily, sliding upward without issue. ]
I'll go first.
[ and apparently without hesitation. pressing low, alisaie wriggles her way through the open window and carefully onto the shelf beside it, shimmying forward to leave some room for barbara to enter behind her. ]
no subject
Still, she doesn't hesitate to follow, squirming through awkwardly. The dress (if it can be called that) that she wears over her chainmail snags a bit and needs a yank and a tear, but as long as it doesn't make any significant noise Barbara doesn't care. Once she's on the shelf, she gets up on her knees to survey the room, which is just as alien and has a strange, unfamiliar, dry type of scent.
There's the lantern light moving around slowly at the far end, there's the pattern of shelves all laid out... there's the ceiling up above, a little bit too close for Barbara to jump the way she normally would to traverse broken terrain.]
Guard over there. We try this way.
[cause that's how barbara does things, just moving ahead without waiting for others to agree that it's a good idea!]

[ Karma has one, always does, no matter what. At the very least, his plans star him and what he can do, but he will always take advantage of any help he can get along the way— seeing the surety of Alisaie's steps as she heads directly to the lake, the way she holds her hand at the ready to unsheathe her rapier, he can tell he's working with somebody who gets things done. Karma himself can be seen with a knife holster on his belt, but his hands don't linger near it; other than that, he comes without a weapon. ]
We're hunting a man who's hunting a kraken. ...Let's hear you make your best gurgly monster noise.

[ though she says it in a way that might suggest sarcasm, she is definitely one hundred percent serious as well, because crashing in without a plan is normally the best plan she has. or at least, her preferred method. she keeps her pace up as the grass begins to give way to patches of sand. ]
Mayhaps I'll agree to that after we get the selkie her skin back. But only if you promise to show me yours, as well.

No, he's not here for that. However, he is here to at least train his body. Even though the blessing of Anemo is now a thing of the past, Xiao still carries his spear. He still strikes training dummies with swift, hard blows. Perhaps this can help him clear his mind of all of the thoughts that are starting to swim around and upset the balance that he has created for himself over the years.
That is until one of the dummies next to him goes up in flames. It causes Xiao to pause in his own training and to look over. Unfortunately, he's not one for words, but he is giving the girl a curious glance all the same. ]
no subject
but she catches that look.
she also must catch her breath, in her excitement. alisaie leans atop her rapier, a languid grin curving her mouth; she can't be too upset, not when she's begin to get a hang of this new magic. ]

quest time!!
The long-eared girl he has been set on this quest with is certainly...small, though considering some of his comrades, he knows better than to assume she can't handle herself. Moving swiftly at her side, Dimitri already has his lance in hand, because while he hopes to negotiate with the man, he is also unwilling to give him an edge on them, and perhaps looking a little imposing will convince him that they aren't to be taken lightly.
There's also the matter of the kraken, which, not being a beast Dimitri is familiar with, is one he would like to be prepared for anything from. ]
Let us be firm, but not aggressive. If we cannot motivate him with moral platitudes, perhaps we can motivate him to cooperate in another way that does not involve fighting.
[ Intimidation comes to mind... ]
no subject
[ but an easy smirk curves her mouth as she says it. maybe she wasn't planning to kill the man.. unless he tries to kill them, at least, but certainly a good roughing up had been in order, given his deep transgressions. alisaie does not easily forgive the sin of taking one's agency away. who knows what she had had to endure, while he has held her skin?
but she's not averse to a more diplomatic approach, at least to start with, assuming their quarry is amenable. so she gives a sharp nod. ]

[And he just nods. Smiling, of course, because Morgan makes it a point to have a grand old time whatever he's doing, but he's taking this seriously and keeping talk to a minimum. Despite his size, he can be remarkably quiet and stealthy, but his voice is much more likely to carry than hers.]

but he seems ready, so she turns toward the narrow awning window, carefully slipping her slim fingers beneath it to begin gently prying it forward. for a moment it seems as if it won't budge, and there's a tiny creak when it relents that gives her brief pause, but little enough comes of it. carefully, she lifts it as open as it shall yield, before unhooking her rapier and focus from her hip and laying them down so she can slip through the window unimpeded. the last thing she wants is for the hilt of her sword to catch on the window and clatter to the floor.
.. though of course the moment she's through, she's quick to snatch it right back. ]

Sneaking into a library to see what some old crone is up to seems as good a place to start as any, she supposes.]
Indeed— on your mark.
[Her voice is low, careful, but she can feel energy humming through her, an anxiousness that begs to be given an opportunity to work itself out— with her fists, if she can, though she's not sure she'll find what she's looking for here.
Maybe the next job.]
!!!
Aye.
[ but alisaie is ready. carefully sliding her fingers beneath the window ledge, she begins to gently pry it away from the frame until is slowly, carefully begins to slide. the opening is narrow, but neither of them are overly large or bulky, there should be more than enough room to slip through without issue, though first she skips her rapier and focus from her hips and slides them through the window first, resting them on the top of the bookshelf beyond. only then does she shoot jade a brief glance before slipping easily inside, crawling silently onto the shelf on light hands and knees. ]

Still, though, he chose to make the best of it, choosing to watch others use their magic so that maybe he could get some ideas. Alisaie sure seemed like she knew a thing or two about this stuff.]

Rolls in finally!! i
Speaking of the Scions, she's taking off her shoes and getting ready to dip her feet in when from the corner of her eye, she catches familiar wide hair. Ryne's eyes are wide as she moves closer, staring at someone very familiar to her. ]
A...Alisae?
[ The hesitation comes out of fear she may have accidently confused her for her brother. But luckily that's not the case. ]
no subject
Ryne?
[ alisaie's head snaps around, her eyes wide and searching, before they finally settle on a head of ginger hair. her surprise is evident, though she supposes that it shouldn't be.. if the source had fallen to such grave magicks, it stands to reason that the first would have, as well. still, it doesn't prepare her for the pleasant surprise of seeing a face she was sure she would never lay eyes on again.
a smile blooms across her face. ]
While she circumstances could be better.. it is good to see you.
iii
Yes. Shall I go in first?
[Not that there's any actual physical threat here, but habits are hard to break. Peering through the panes of glass, his eyes scan for any sign of light or movement and, finding none, he reaches out to begin opening the window if Alisaie gives the word.]
no subject
If you insist.
[ alisaie is happy enough to lead a situation if need be, but she's also just as happy to allow someone else to call the shots as well, at least until they prove themselves incapable. but jangly necklaces or no, she is happy to give him a chance. ]
