[It was nice living with Louis even if they were without the usual chaos of the animals, Shinji and the others. Avalon seemed pretty chaotic all on its own, after all. But right now things were quiet. Minato was sitting on his bed with the headphones on, but no music was playing as he was busy sifting through the playlist. He heard his name and answered:]

Yeah?

[Oh, a grocery run? Minato perked up and eventually slid off the bed to head to the kitchen. He did a lot of the cooking so he had an idea of what they were low on but at the same time, he wanted to take a look to figure out if there was anything in particular he wanted.]

A new knife? Planning on making dinner tonight then?

[disasdeer]

Yeah, I am.

[ Before here? Shinji did most of the cooking. And here? Minato did quite a bit. Louis was mostly a raw foods type of guy anyway, so it's not like him knowing how to cook was a necessity. He could, and has, lived off salads. But he doesn't want a salad today. ]

Yeah. I saw a nice one some guy had at the bar I work and I decided - why not?

[ Why not indeed? It's a nice supply to have around the house. Plus, doing dark web quests for a bit of time meant that he could splurge on things. ]

Haven't decided what I'm making yet, though.

I'll go with you, then.

[He went to the drawer to pull out a notepad and pen to write down what they would need.]

Well, what are you in the mood for? Going to the market with no ideas only leads to buying too much.

I was thinking a vegetable fried rice.

[ He had a few thoughts, but this was the one that stuck out. Plus, there'd be leftovers so it would be easy meals for a couple days. He liked the sound of cooking once for a few days. It was easy. ]

Was kind of hoping you'd say you'd join me.

[afoolshope]

That sounds good actually. Do you mind if I had eggs in it, too?

[Fried rice was really good when you added some scrambled eggs in there, after all. But he would refrain if it wasn't Louis' thing. He let out a soft chuckle at the second bit.]

Well, then it's a good thing I know you so well then, hm?

I like eggs, so that sounds good.

[ He's never made fried rice. He's never made fried rice with eggs. He has a recipe on his phone that he's going to be following, so he is going to try his best to figure it out. What he saw - it looks like you can do what you want.

There's a small smile, though - more than a lot of people get. ]

Lucky me. Are you ready to go now or do you need a few?

What kind of veggies were you thinking of adding? The usuals are carrots and peas, I think. But I'm sure we can do whatever.

[Louis had it about right. Fried rice was very easy to change up since it was only the rice that was the common part of the dish.]

I'll just need to grab a bag and my wallet, so I'll meet you outside?

Hm....More than that, I think. I'll have to see what's in season, too.

[ He likes a lot of veggies. Like - basically all of them, he thinks. He's going to load it up with vegetables. Plus he'll just grab some for himself anyway. He does love vegetables. ]

Alright - outside.

[ Louis checked his pockets for his own wallet to make sure he had his money on himself before he decided to take the few steps outside so he could meet Minato. He knew that the store wasn't terribly far, but he did miss the convenience of cars sometimes. It's been a long time since he's seen a car, he thinks. ]

[Well, Louis is still a deer at the end of the day. Having fingers or not. Minato figured the fried rice would have more than just carrots and peas, he just hoped the rice wouldn't get lost in all the veggies!

It barely took more than a few minutes for Minato to find his wallet and grab a tote for the vegetables and perhaps anything else Minato decided to grab. He did love food, after all. He slipped into some shoes that were by the door and met Louis outside.]

So, what made you want to try fried rice?

[ Louis only thought about potential items to add to his shopping list while he waited. When his friend stepped out, Louis looked towards him and considered the young man's question. ]

Well - for change, I guess. I don't eat a lot of cooked food, you know?

[ Well, yes. Minato has known him for a hot while by now. ]

And...I don't want to just depend on everyone else to do it for me, too.

Mm, true.

[They've bee experimenting but Minato never pushed too much either.]

Well, I still got a bunch of those recipes that people provided awhile back if you wanna try those still as well.

That sounds good. Safe to assume getting a lot of variety of vegetables will suffice for needed ingredients for them?

[ That is probably the case and he knows it. But he doesn't sound upset by the idea, either. ]

And you know - I was thinking. Maybe I should get some chickens here. For eggs and things.

[ Obviously not to eat the chickens themselves. ]
