Closed to Azul
It seems all of the trio has been in a poor mood of late, however the reason behind Floyd’s mood is because of the other two. And the fact he doesn’t know what is going on! At the very least he is less annoyed with Azul, having started with whining and when that hadn’t worked had gone not to silent mode, but certainly to ‘I don’t want to talk to you’ mode. This of course may be something Azul would like, but it doesn’t matter to Floyd. He’s upset with both of them.

Floyd’s even let up on that ‘testing’ he’s been putting Azul through for the last month or so, a push here, a prod there, being more of a pain to see if he could make Azul snap and use magic; moving his stuff around on his desk, taking stuff away from him he was using, small things, but he knew it would add up. Floyd had just wanted an excuse to fight and test Azul. But right now… even that wasn’t fun to him. Not with Azul at least.

Still, there is stuff to be done for Golden Silence, he currently tapping his pen against a clipboard he held in his other hand as he looks over their supplies, Squishy snoozing on his shoulder with a couple of tentacles wrapped around Floyd’s neck so not to fall off. Floyd’s busy going through what ingredients they had for the next couple of weeks and making notes and doodles next to the check list of ideas for dishes. Sure, it would be a messy list to give back to Azul once he’s done, but it allowed him to get ideas out and written down, and some of those would actually turn into good dishes! Others… less so and were better to ignore.

However, “We need to go shopping. The menu’s getting boring.” And it’s not just a case of him getting bored with it, it was starting to feel like they were getting a bit too stagnant in what they were offering. Keeping favorites around was good, but it was also good to mix in a new dish or two here and there to get people in to try it. ‘Limited edition’ was always a good way to bring people, and money, in.


Closed to Jade
His mood towards Jade was even less friendly since this all had been going on. Whatever ‘this all’ even was! Floyd didn’t know! All he knows is Azul and Jade are being weird!

And neither of them will tell him why!

They’re supposed to be a team! Why is he left out?!

And it hurt more coming from Jade. Sure, it’s not like the twins had to know everything about each other, they had their secrets from each other, they didn’t have to tell each other everything. But the fact whatever was happening was affecting two of the trio made this more important! So while Floyd is annoyed at Azul…

He’s angry at Jade.

That may explain why dishes and utensils are getting slapped down more than normal as they work at setting up the restaurant for the change from lunch to dinner while the place was still empty of customers. Floyd was always messier when it came to that than Jade was, but he normally either did the job decent enough to pass, or didn’t want to do it at all. This was… more aggressive. Very much a case of showing his feelings through his actions. After all, he’s already spoken his feelings at Jade about being angry at not knowing what was happening, and that had achieved nothing.

So now… he’s ignoring Jade. Fine! If he doesn’t want to talk to him, then Floyd won’t talk to him!

Jade takes a broom and begins to sweep, going for the edges. While he was never one to use magic for simple tasks like cleaning, it would have been nice right now. They could have ensured they didn't miss any shards. And as far as he was concerned, this was all an accident if anyone asked. An unfortunate mishap.

He paused at the question.

"...it had nothing to do with Taichi himself," Jade sighed. "I know that Azul isn't the type to do such a thing. We just got on the topic of me having friends and I became... a tad defensive."

Oh? Oh! Oh. Huh... that hadn't even been on Floyd's mind about this all, he having paused in his own sweeping to lean against the top of the broom as he thought. He also recognizes this was tough for Jade to say, even to him.

He'll have to make him something tasty to eat later.

"Is it 'cause you got none?" Again, very blunt, very to the point. Floyd's not even sure that's completely right here, the twins do go and do their own things, have their own connections, but Floyd also knows Jade tends to see the world as plans. He has a harder time just enjoying the moment than Floyd did. Did Jade have any real connections outside of Azul and him, even back at Night Raven? He had his own club, he worked hard in studies, he worked just as hard in the Lounge. But what did he do outside of those? Oh, there was Shrimpy of course, and Sealy, but they sadly weren't here. Things were always so much more interesting with them around.

Jade put a hand on his hip at that, because of course Floyd would be blunt like that. "I guess you could say that. There are people I like and enjoy the company of, but I cannot say it is a real connection. I played it off and then Azul kept pushing and I became annoyed. that is why I was... weird as you put it."

If Jade was honest, he'd never been that bothered by it before, had never realized it was a sore spot until it made him wince. "It's all rather childish for someone like me," he said as he swept up a pile of dishes because yes, this was hard for him to talk about.

You know what... "Yeah... it's tough making friends. I mean, I got people I like to hang out with and tease here... but I donno if it like friends, ya know? I mean, I wouldn't do stuff for them like I would for you, or Azul, or Shrimpy. They not the same. It more fun just to mess with them." But Floyd had the benefit of just jumping in without much thought and going along with the flow. If someone didn't like him at that time, then who cared? He would try again if they were interesting enough. Even if they didn't want him to. "Maybe you can make your club here, there gotta be other weird people like you that like to do hiking and all the crap."

"Eeehh~, we're only 17, we're allowed to be childish." Yes, he's purposely calling Jade 17 still. It's so Jade has something to react to and joke about, and also because it's not fair.

It is different. Back home there are classmates he would maybe consider friends or at least potential friends. But Jade's always been cautious. He holds back and either has to use someone in a plan or else he wants to observe them. All petty things like that, all excuses.

Here those excuses don't work quite so well, because he can't get away with being devious. He has to be even more careful and it puts even more barriers in front of him. People don't always brush his shadiness off.

"...no, I'm 18 and you're 17 or did you forget, Mr. Couldn't be here when either I or Azuul arrived." He's never going to let Floyd forget this. Especially since he wasn't there for their birthday. The nerve.

"I've agreed to celebrate Floyd's birthday before your joint one in November, and he is very lucky I was warned that any conversation between the two of you could turn violent, or we might not be doing that."

Azul comes out of his office, utterly unamused as he looks around at the mess the twins made during this fight. "Are you both quite done?"

"You shouldn't had left me behind!" There, try and argue with that! "I would had came with you."

Any other time for Azul to find they had made a mess of the Lounge or Restaurant would be a 'whoops' moment, knowing they were in trouble to come. But in this case, Floyd throws a hand up and waves as he turns towards Azul, "We made up!" It was a good thing he had chatted to Azul first, huh? It totally hadn't been planned at all, just turned out that way.

Then to Jade, "I want it to be a beach party." Because this was important right now.

Oh, dear, Jade had forgotten Azul was in. How mortifying.

"Azul, are you done with your work?" No apology, not "it's not what it looks like" or anything like that. Just Jade's usual smile, that still looks a little strange but that's probably because he got a foot to the face.

He glances at Floyd and grins. "Of course, though keep in mind, it might be a little cold for our guests."

"I'm not, but after the tenth employee to come flocking to my office crying "help us, they're fighting" I gave up," he grumbles. "You couldn't take this outside?"

"Eeeehhh~, it just kinda happened." Floyd admitted, a hand going behind his head as he spoke, still leaning on that broom rather than using it. "But we're done now! You can tell them to come back." Floyd, that may not be the most important factor in all of this... then again, they did need the staff back in to get everything ready for later.

"I was thinking just the six of us. Azul, you, me, and our familiars!" A small but close party. Even better since they were all water based. "We haven't all gone swimming together in ages!" Oh, wait! "My shoe!" There we go, he finally remembered it, dropping the broom to go hunting for it among the chunks of plate.

"Well this and that happens, Azul. Still, I apologize." It seems like Azul didn't overhear too much of their conversation, judging by his expression. Which was a relief, because Jade was at his limit for the day.

When Floyd mentioned his shoe, Jade glanced around and saw that it had slid into and somehow knocked over a trash can. Pulling off a few pieces of garbage, Jade held it out apologetically. "I might owe you some new footwear as well.

"Which you won't be able to get him for a while." Oh, that smile on Azul's face is never a good sign. "After all, the two of you now have to work off the damages done to the establishment and while I need to do a full inventory...well. The entire set of dinnerware will have to be replaced if you can't find exact matches for the plates and bowls you destroyed."

At the very least.

"Thaaanks~" Floyd taking back the shoe and checking it over himself before moving to shove it back onto his foot, hopping around on the other one to do so. "Yeah you do." Because there is no way Floyd is going to turn down getting free shoes, provided they were good quality of course. Shoe quality was very important. Dad taught him well.

However any enthusiasm for future footwear instantly vanished at Azul's declaration. "Eeehh~?!" Floyd expected some issues with what had happened, to at least replace those plates, to have to do a thorough clean up of the kitchen, and maybe some other work punishment for doing this all in the first place. But to replace ALL of the dinnerware?! "Really?!"

Then some grumbling to Jade, "Good thing we were in the kitchen and not the restaurant..." Imagine the damages they would have to repay if they had fought in there...

To be honest, Jade doesn't mind getting Floyd a new pair as a peace offering. And well, it can also be one of Floyd's birthday presents. But at Azul's evil smile, Jade sighs, because he should have expected this.

"If we have to get new dinner sets, should we sell the old ones to offset the cost then?" Jade's already thinking about how to offset the terrible financial blow—and also calculating how many quests he will have to do in his spare time.

Okay, he's probably not going to have spare time again.

It's like Jade's back home. How nostalgic.

"I do not want to think about that. What if we'd broken a table?" Granted, that might have been fun because Jade can imagine all sorts of things they could have done. "He'd probably expect us to fix it ourselves."
