A-1: Concert texting

[Anyone who signed up to help with Valentine's Day concert will be receiving a message from Ren at the very beginning of the month.]

Hello everyone! Good news. I have secured a place for the concert. It's going to be held in the theater. The space is large enough for a nice crowd and the backstage area is great for preparations. I've scheduled us times to practice and test how out sounds work there.

I'm going to be working on the advertisement posters next, if someone would like to help with that. For that or any questions, you can either contact me through the phones or visit me at my hotel room.

A-2: Concert preparations

[Ren is very busy with the upcoming Valentine's Day Concert preparations, and that's just the way he wants it to be. His upcoming birthday is a reminder that he's far away from home and he hasn't seen any of his friends or family in months. While he often travels alone, he has always enjoyed the fact he's able to return somewhere.

So he's keeping himself busy and doing whatever he can by himself. Decorating, arranging training schedules, helping with advertisements. Really, most of his time is spent working on the concert or taking Sirius (his black German Shepherd puppy) out for walks. He doesn't really rest as much as he probably should, but he's fine.

Because even if he keeps himself busy he also looks after his health. So no one really has need to worry. He's fine and always eager to talk to anyone about concert related things. Other things too, of course, but especially the concert.

So find him at the theater, at his hotel room or making rounds at the various shops who have agreed to help out with the concert - or call him to have lunch or dinner, he will likely oblige.]

B: Breaking down

[There is, however, a limit to how much Ren can take. Really, it might have been a mistake to hold a concert, after all, because all of the preparations have brought even more feelings out. Feelings of missing his friends, family, his job and the staff he often worked with. He's good at keeping his bottled up when he's around anyone.

It's keeping his feelings bottled up even when he's alone that's brought him to a breaking point after a long day at concert preparations. In the theater backstage area, in a room where he's alone, he leans on a wall and slowly slides down to sit on the floor. While he doesn't hug his knees, he does bring them up to lean his arms and face on them.

Hiding his tears, even when he's alone. Maybe to shelter himself from them. Either way, he's definitely a mess and he's glad he locked the door behind himself.

Except he didn't.]

C: A Tall Order
(February Task Board quest)

[Ren is actually interested in becoming Nobility, so he's definitely always on a lookout for quests that help with that. Carrying around elves doesn't sound like a difficult task at all, so he's definitely there to help them out. Especially since he's 185 cm tall. They Red Spring elves were definitely up high with him helping them out.

Of course carrying sedan chairs is easier when it's done with someone else, so it's likely he's not helping these elves on his own. Either way, he seems cheerful and eager to please.]

[Of course he's totally fine. Yeah, sure, Ren, try telling that to a friend, who also bottles up a lot but seems to be fine all the damn time. She calls him to lunch and dinners anywhere between often, eating is important and so on even when she doesn't have fast metabolism here anymore and it's obviously a good time to see him.

But then Ren doesn't answer her call or texts and she calls again and that stupid idiot still doesn't answer. Hmph. So Rin walks around the place to find him, asks someone if they've seen him and eventually finds Ren there.

... Oh. Yeah okay, not surprising, really, not after everything with him in another world before this too. If that even has much to do with anything.

Rin locks the door behind her, walks over to Ren without saying a word and gets down on her knees near him. Still no words. She'll just reach out to pet his hair or shoulder. There, there.]

[Ren isn't expecting anyone so feeling someone touch him startles him a little bit and he lifts his face from his knees. The touch however feels gentle and doesn't bother him at all. Mostly it makes him calmer to have someone there. Someone who had seen him like this before.

Though then he remembers that he did get calls and texts from Rin, but hadn't paid them any attention this time around. Ah, so that's why she had come to find him.]

... sorry.

[As promised, if Crow found something good to eat, he will give Ren the heads up. When he receives the idol's message about finding a space for the concert, the redhead feels it's a good opportunity to invite him out to eat:

Great job on finding a space!!! I can't wait to see it!! I also discovered this great dish the other day!! Have you heard of Shepherd's pie? If you have, you never had it this good, I promise you!! Are you free to grab a bite? It's my treat!!!

Not to mention Crow will probably use this chance to ask Ren a plethora of questions about the concert. He's pretty excited to perform!]

Shepherd's pie, eh? I haven't had that in ages, so I'll definitely come eat with you.

[It will do him good to get out a bit and see someone. Even if he'd be bombarded with questions, he wouldn't mind.]

[Crow is happy that Ren accepts his invitation. He could also use the company too.]

Great!! You probably could use a break anyway! You've probably been busy preparing everything, so a change of pace is in order! I'm gonna send you the address!

[Crow sends over the location details. It doesn't seem too far from the theater.]

I'll secure us a table, so don't make me wait too long!

You're probably right. I'll be there soon.

[At least he wasn't doing anything too time consuming so he really doesn't take too long to arrive.]

Hey, thanks for inviting me.

[ Crow sees Ren saunter up to him and his face lights up. He's happy that the idol could spare some time.]

Nah! I wanted to recommend this place to you and catch up, so I killed two birds with one stone.

[Crow also hates eating by himself too, but he's not going to say that! He gestures towards the table for them to sit!]

I already ordered the Shepherd's pies, but I wasn't sure what you wanted to drink?

[Usagi has at least one question to Ren. Depending on his answer to that, she may have even more questions to him! So she's looking for him and she finds him from that room!

She opens her mouth to say something but then she's quickly noticing everything there. The girl closes the door before she rushes to hug him.]

[It takes a moment for Ren to realize he's being hugged, but when that realization hits he is rather quick to return the hug. He really needed this hug.]

[Ren has more than one friend here on Avalon planning to remind him that while it may not be the home any of them know, they are all here together and that makes it home. So Kaji is making sure to help with the preparations as much as he can, anywhere Ren needs, when he is not working or practicing with the band he spends working on the concert.

He wants to do something at the concert, something he has not told anyone, not even his husband about so he shoots Ren a text, asking if he would mind meeting up.

Kaji would surprise his friend as well, thing is, he's the concert organizer so of course Kaji has to ask him if this is a possibility.

Either way, he is at the cafe, having gotten them both a cafe breve and is sitting with a thoughtful expression as he waits for the other to join him for lunch.]

[Ren arrives to the cafe with his hair tied in a loose ponytail. He looks around for a moment before spotting Kaji and walking over to his table.]

Hey. Am I late? I got stuck talking with the theater staff.

[Kaji smiles, it remains wolfish but it is certainly genuine and he is glad Ren was available and able to meet him.]

You're right on time, I got here a little early. [The waitress approaches, leaving menus now that she sees his companion has arrived.]

How are things coming, anything we can do to help?

[Ren thanks the waitress with a charming smile before sipping the coffee. Ah, this is exactly what he needed.]

Oh, they're going well. You just focus on your performance.

Are you sure? I've got some free time.

[He lifts his coffee, taking a sip he sighs, Haruki's is better, they'll have to have Ren over soon.]

I promise I have an ulterior motive because I want to ask a favor.

[There is that teasing grin.]

[Takao has made his first attempt into a quest, not really considering becoming Nobility but they are a good means to make little extras that help him and his friends out.

Besides, when a friend says they are going on one of these, of course, he is going to go along. He is never one to abandon those he cares about so right there beside him, with a wide grin is Takao.]

Think this thing will be super heavy, maybe I can use some kinetic magic to help?

[Ren appreciates the company. When he becomes Nobility he'll make sure to treat Takao to something delicious.

He looks thoughtful for a moment.]

Considering they're the size of kids... it might be a bit heavy. Think you could use your magic to aid us?

[Takao is just happy to help his friends out. He rubs his hands together and nods.]

I think so, it shouldn't be too heavy.

[He calls up his magic, slipping under the chair and placing his hands while at the same time balancing whit his magic so the weight can lean more heavily. He'll need to concentrate if he is goign to move the whole thing it is the largest thing he has tried moving so far.]

[Ren goes to help with the chair as well. They might have a slight height difference, but he's managing to adjust to it pretty well. And Takao's magic really does help quite a bit.]

Are you doing alright?

[Takao grins in triumphant when he's able to help with the chair with his magic, it definitely makes the job easier. It is also to date the biggest thing he has moved. He's getting stronger with his magic and he is proud of it.]

Yup, it's kind of an adjustment, but having all you guys come too has helped, I don't feel lonely or scared. What about you?

[ Louis is nowhere near Ren's height. But with the help of his antlers compensating, he doesn't feel that much shorter. Not that he'd let that stop him from performing his duties, since he has a goal in mind. But, their height difference means they'll be working side by side, rather than on the same chair, which is just as good to him. He's seen Ren a couple of times, so he's familiar with him, hoisting up a chair and picking up to walk near him. ]

This is probably one of the most straightforward quests I've done to date.

[ It's pretty simple, really. Just carry up high, and get them elsewhere. Easy. No wrangling pigs or entering mazes, or doing something really weird. Just lifting. And even Louis can lift a chair. ]

[Ren is really tall, so it's hard for him to find partners for this quest, but at least it isn't a hard one. Just having Louis there as company is good enough for him anyway. It would be boring alone.]

This is finally the first one I have dared to try... I had been meaning to work towards nobility but all the quests have been... strange.

[ He wishes he were taller too, Ren. But, he'll be good company and talk about whatever comes up because he's found that it's easy to talk to Ren. Louis rather likes the guy, which is pretty lucky, to be honest. ]

I'm doing the same thing, though I've done quite a few of the quests. I wrangled some pigs once. And let me tell you, the pigs here are way less polite than they are at home.

[ Huff. ]

I don't blame you for not wanting to roll around in mud.

[What a coincidence. Ren likes Louis quite a bit too.]

You'd think those aiming to become lords wouldn't have to wrangle with pigs in mud, but I don't make the rules.

[It was just a bit strange, that's all.]

Then again, what else would they have us do.

You'd think, but maybe they want to ensure that we don't mind doing tasks like that. Set a good example.

[ Since presumably, they'll still be doing quests like this even when they have titles. If they get the titles. He's still only sure that he needs to participate in quests and that it was a possibility to get there. ]

We'll probably still be doing stuff like this afterwards, too.

[ He shifts with the chair. ]

Hopefully not exactly, but -- you know, straightforward tasks.

[Of course Nyuu had expressed interest in the Valentine's Day concert, and surprisingly, so did Lucy when Nyuu asked. Today, however, it happens to be Nyuu who's in control. While she said that she wished to be among those performing, she was more than willing to help with preparations too, which is why she's currently helping with the decorations at the theater. Thanks to her animal magic, she's able to turn into a small bird if they needed to reach someplace higher than Ren's reach. Her hainu familiar, Setsuko, is also winged and helps Nyuu with lifting up some of the heavier stuff.]

Ren-san, where would you like these flowers?

[Nyuu, in her normal form, holds up some flower garlands.]

[Ren is grateful for the assistance. Ren's own familiar is more shy, but also has wings to help out with things far from reach (she's a fox with fairy wings) so they have a solid team going on there.]

Oh, over there would be great. That spot is dire need of decorations... and those are perfect for it.

Alright then.

[Nyuu gives him a smile before turning into a dove and, with some help, places the garlands where Red just pointed out. She soon returns to him, changing back yet again.]

I wanted to thank you for organizing this concert, and for finding a nice place for us. I'm nervous, but excited. Are you going to perform too?
