Let's try to overcome that white cloud
🧙 WHO: Kotarou and You
⚔️️ WHAT: Conventioning, Questing and Adventuring
🕒 WHEN: Throughout April
🗺️ WHERE: Convention Center, Bay of Camelot and the Forest of the Fisher King
⚠️ WARNINGS: None!
A - CameCon Catch All!
[It was one thing to visit a convention filled with humans, but there were also fae in the mix too. A big social gathering like this where people were cosplaying was making it hard to tell who was human and who wasn't. Despite walking through the crowd, Kotarou had never felt more alone around here. He didn't even have a cosplay to wear which made him feel more lame.
Deep down, he couldn't help and think to himself: "This sucks. Why did I come all by myself? I'm gonna stick out like a sore thumb here." No one was paying attention to him, but in his own mind... If you didn't have a herd to stay with, then you were the first to be singled out. Well, he'd have to make do with this situation. He shouldn't be overthinking his social anxiety in a game convention of all places. There were two things he hated: Dead air and his own depressive thoughts... Kotarou couldn't help and let his mouth do the talking for him.]
--Ugh, I hope everyone here has been taking proper showers. I can already smell the BO from here! Now if I were a historical figure, I wonder how I'd feel if I knew people were lusting after me thousands of years later like this? [A beat.] "Humanity was a mistake!" or "This is the legacy I left behind?!" Or something along with those lines. Gotta admit that this beats a crusty old museum, I guess.
[Admittedly, he's tempted to buy a figure at least. He can't just walk into a convention without getting some swag to bring home. You'll either find Kotarou eating by himself at the cafe section of the convention, watching the fighting games going on or he's in the merchandise section. Feel free to come up with your own prompts!]
B - Stranger Than Fishin'
[While it wasn't a top quest task available on the Questboard, Kotarou still couldn't ignore some of the smaller ones. Sometimes, you had to take up the ones that didn't seem like a big deal to build up more of a reputation! This one quest happened to be a request from a family who needed some extra help gathering fish for an upcoming party. A fish fry, per say. He figured that it wouldn't hurt to dab into this one and it sounded like it would be incredibly easy... But as Kotarou stood at the bay while holding a fishing rod, he couldn't help and start to feel really antsy. There were supposed to be a ton of fish around here, right? So why wasn't he getting any bites here?!]
I know I offered to help them, but who would've thought that fishing could be real boring? Maybe I'm not at the age where mundane stuff like this gets fun yet. Wish I had a magical power that gave me the ability to talk to fish.
[Seriously... Where were heroes like Aquaman whenever you needed them? He pulls back the rod with an annoyed sigh.]
Maybe I should grab a boat and see where that takes me out here. Could this be the day where I awaken my sleeping fisherman's soul?!
C - The Battle of the Fisher King's Forest
[Did you decide to listen to the Archivist's plea and step into the Fisher King's Forest? Kotarou had sure did. It was out of a mix of curiosity and seeing if there was anything that he could go to try and pacify the situation even a little bit. The worst case scenario would be the forest would be destroyed and they move the battle over to Camelot. The last thing that Kotarou wanted was to wake up in a frog's stomach in the morning.
If you're passing through the forest, you'll hear his voice yelling down at you from a tree above as he sits on a branch. One thing that he learned from UMA hunting was to get a good grasp of your surroundings before proceeding forward! He couldn't help and be enjoying himself throughout all of this. There's a playful grin on his face before he speaks again.]
Heeeeeeey! You might not wanna go over in that direction! There's some hot Frog-On-Pelican action going on! It might get more messy if you go deeper in!
D - Wildcard
[Interested in another scenario or had another idea? Feel free to hit me up on
DeanDrive or Metin#1851 on discord if you to discuss something else.]

B - Stranger Than Fishin'
She looked up from her book upon hearing Kotarou complain. ]
Fishing requires a lot of patience.
[ She knew it would happen. The moment she heard of this and Kotarou went on the quest, it was obvious he'd get bored after five minutes. ]
Why did you pick that quest if you're going to go on a boat trip because you can't wait?
no subject
[Fish can't laugh at you, Kotarou. This is just his imagination going into play. As a seasoned (no) UMA hunter, he felt that he had some experience with knowing how animals act for the most part.]
Besides... Not all of us have kinetic magic, you realize. It's good to see that you're sitting pretty as always, Monika-san.
[He's only a little jealous of her abilities. Light Magic and Blood Magic were completely useless here!]
no subject
No flirting with me, Kotarou! I am a taken woman now you know.
[ Kotarou doesn't need to worry-- She says that to absolutely everyone ever. It will be something of a miracle if the entire world doesn't know she's dating Minako ere long. It's not like that's what she's longed for her entire life, nope. That said, she puts her book down and sighs. ]
Maybe you didn't bring good enough bait? Fishes can be picky. If you're trying to lure than in with cheap bait, being here or in the middle of the lake won't change anything.
no subject
[So she really did find someone. Kotarou had felt that this would've happened eventually. Whoever it was, he hoped that they could handle Monika. Especially with all of the baggage that she had on her back. She's a bit of an unpredictable girl as he knew from past experiences. But he felt that he could leave all of that heavy thinking to her significant other if he really knew what they were getting into.
Though it did raise a question in Kotarou's mind: "If she has someone who gives her attention, then why is she still talking to me?" Friends should be low on her hierarchy chart, right? Call him jaded due to past experiences, but he was expecting to be a forgotten side character here.]
Well, I did talk to this flashy guy who mentioned that his bait was the creme of the crop and I'd be racking in a ton of fish in no time! I even went out of my way to buy one!
[He takes a moment to pull back his rod to show off the bait on the hook. It was a suggestive looking thing, that's for sure.]
no subject
[ Monika would never give up her friends for the sake of love! Delete them, perhaps... But that was another matter entirely. And thank goodness she wasn't a mind-reader, or she would find what Kotarou is thinking highly offensive. Being unpredictable is a good thing, thank you very much. And her baggage was part of her charm! Anyway, she looked up when he showed off his bait...
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... That bait? Is mysteriously getting yanked off his rod and thrown far far away into the lake, where none can reach it. Telekinesis is handy like that. ]
Please find a worm or something and use it as bait instead.
[ To say she looked and sounded unimpressed was a massive understatement. ]
1/2
[He just watches it get tossed aside like yesterday's garbage. Kotarou was so focused on buckling down on fishing that it didn't even register on what it looked like. If he actually took a second out of his tunnel vision, then he would've made a joke out of it. Or gotten really angry and went back to town to find that man who sold him that junk and practiced one of his "wresting moves" (aka a punch) on him.]
2/2
[And almost immediately, Kotarou snaps back to completely chipper like that event never happened. He sure did go through the five stage of grief very quickly. Maybe that implied he wasn't super attracted to it or it said a lot about Kotarou's talent for rebounding after a quick fall. More importantly? There's a glint in his eyes as he's dead focused on Monika.]
Anyway, Monika-san! You're fishing, aren't you? So that means you must have some bait goods. [Unceremoniously, he holds a hand out.] Help an amigo out and I'll make it worth your while! ♪
no subject
Well she could probably do that. She sighed and picked her tackle box-- It was very different from what you'd expect a fisherman to have. A pink metallic box with a green heart on it, and her name engraved over the heart with a colorful font. ]
Well I'm not a good fisher you know, I only bought that stuff to fulfill that request...
[ After looking for a bit, she finally found a lure for him! It was smaller than his previous one, shaped like a fish, pink and sparkly. Clearly not the kind of lure you saw everyday. ]
There you go!
no subject
Are you sure? You're definitely yielding that pole like no one's business. Even I know that you gotta push some muscle into racking in fish, but you're taking things to next level here!
[Tentatively, Kotarou will take the lure and he eyeballs it a little suspiciously. He looks at the bait, then back at her, then back at the bait... Thne he'll look up at her again.]
Uh, Monika-sensei... It's question time. Am I trying to catch fish with this thing or attract fish?
no subject
[ Mind you, she wasn't averse to compliments in the least, but this one wasn't deserved at all. His attacks, hm, "words" regarding her choice of bait though? Now that was much more important. He could have complimented her choice of bait if anything! ]
What's wrong with my lure? [She tilted her head.] I actually had to bargain with the shop owner to get those, you know. He wouldn't put them on sale, said they were just for display.
[ Yes, she actually took shop decoration and used it as a real lure.
... Still better than his lure though, right? ]
no subject
[Maybe the shop owner had a weakness for cute girls? Or perhaps Monika's pervasiveness was what allowed to get a lure that she wanted. He's not sure which was the case... But it just showed Kotarou that he still had a ways to go whenever it came to charming people. He looked skeptical for a good minute, then he couldn't help and look at Monika with honest admiration.
She's certainly leveled up after finding a significant other, huh? Kotarou figured that he should meet them one day... The name "Minako" doesn't ring any bells in his mind, but it did sound faintly familiar.]
A lure's a lure at the end of the day, so I guess I can't complain. [He'll be placing it on the hook, then takes a deep breath.] Okaaaaay... Let's give this a whirl!
[Turning around to the lake, he gives his fishing rod a toss and the lure drops into the water. Now this would be the hardest part for Kotarou... Long silences and staying still wasn't his style at all!]
no subject
She sighed and shook her head. ]
I just asked the vendor for it. You're thinking way too hard about this, you know.
[ Technically, she said the truth. Then she looked as he tossed the lure...
...
...
... ]
. . . . .
[ And she said nothing. She waited. She obviously had no luck so far, and she didn't want to disturb him as he was trying his best! ]
no subject
[It's right then that Kotarou feels a strong tug on the other end of his fishing rod. He was in the middle of finishing another one of his snarky remarks as it suddenly catches his surprise. He grits his teeth together as he could feel the fight behind this fish...
He was expecting to get a small one, but this one was certainly a fighter! He was already feeling himself getting dragged closer to the edge of the pond. Was this thing going to be a tuna? Or a shark?!]
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I've finally got something! [He'll pulls back his rod slightly to try not and give this fish an edge over him.] Hey, Monika-san... C-Could you hold me down with your kinesis, please? I need a little more weight supporting me!
no subject
Right, I got this!
[ She raised her hand and... Rather than pull Kotarou back to counter the fish's force, unfortunately Monika pulled in the other sense... Effectively doubling the strength with which the fish pulled and without holding Kotarou. He was likely in for a bath. ]
O-Oops...
[ She... She wasn't exactly a master in telekinesis just yet, okay. ]
no subject
It takes a moment for the bubbles to come up from the surface before Kotarou himself comes out with a yell. He was sure that the fish had gotten away now...!]
--HEEEEEY! WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT AMAZING POWER AGAINST THAT MUD MONSTER!? [A beat.] You found love, didn't you? Doesn't this mean a power-up in literally every skill you have?!
no subject
Ah-aha...!
[ She used her kinetic powers to give him a very gentle push and help him come back. ]
Sorry... I guess the power of love only works with the one you love!
