✵ Jane Porter
Tent Solution | OTA
[Jane leads a small group of giggling children around as they finish setting up a tented space to keep the imposing view of the sky at bay. At first they had been reluctant, but she had made it into a game where they could only look at their feet while they raised their arms above their heads and fumbled with pegs and ties and pieces of cloth, at it seemed to be a hit overall. They were only small, though, for the most part, so need her help to reach up and tie things off.
One of the rope loops proves a little too high to reach, and she plants her hand on her hip as the youngsters push pegs into the ground. She casts her gaze around, lips slightly pursed, and her attention zeroes in on a bystander (or passer-by, just trying to mind their own business).]
Oh, excuse me! Can you reach up here? Or... help me reach up here?
no subject
[ Fenton pauses mid-step as the voice calls out, and as he glances up to where she's indicating, he hesitates a moment. ]
Oh, uh... [ The problem isn't even that he is, in fact, not much taller than most of the children. He actually does have a way to reach it, but...how to do so without giving too much of himself away? ]
no subject
[And she isn't going to assume that someone not much taller than the kids she's helping with isn't going to be able to do something about this problem. Maybe there's someone else..?]
So sorry to bother you, sir.

Gen Prompt | Broceliande | OTA
The magic that she does have is of little use when it comes to tracking down the more difficult to find creatures of Avalon. Admittedly, even a person with animal magic might have been of some assistance here... but Jane is not really known for her skills in foresight when it comes to putting herself into difficult situations.
She does, though, hear the faint sound of a twig snapping in the midst of the soft bird calls and the sound of the wind rustling through the canopy overhead.]
H... hello?
[Jane clutches her notebook to her chest, peering in between the trees.]
Is someone there?
no subject
She wasn't planning on socializing right now, so when she steps on a twig and hears a voice immediately after, she freezes for a moment. But that voice does sound familiar...and she could use a little more familiarity right now. So she steps out of the brush, looking a little sheepish.]
no subject
Ah... but there's a certain intelligence about the eyes that reminds her of when she had found another friend out here in a canine shape. It's enough to make her pause, though she does know that running from an actual wolf would be unlikely to go well for her regardless.]
Erm...
[Instead of running, she crouches down slowly.]
Hey, there...

✵ Thanatos
Tent Solution | OTA
Maybe it was the peculiar colour of his skin when compared to those around him, or his height, or the silent and somber way in which he conducted himself, but Thanatos ends up with a small child sitting on each shoulder with their hands clasped into his hair, laughing each time he takes a few steps and they are jostled by the movement.
One of them slips, but is immediately stopped from falling not by magic, but by one broad hand pressed against their back.]
Careful.
[Sigh. He's never going to get anywhere with this... He turns his attention on to the nearest person who doesn't look quite busy enough.]
You. Take one of these, if you'd be so kind.
Gen Prompt | Loch Manor | OTA
Occasionally he ventures there to spend a morning or afternoon sitting quietly in one of the dusty rooms, speaking with the shades haunting the place. Some of them, the more violent ones, learned quickly to avoid him. Others simply enjoy speaking with someone who has such an intimate awareness of their state of being.
And sometimes - though rarely - one of them does want to move on, and Thanatos is more than happy to assist with this endeavour.
If anyone happens to be in the building at the same time as he is they might be able to follow the sound of a low voice murmuring and find the flickering light of a small lantern filtering around a half-open door. Or perhaps they find him heading there, or heading home instead. His aims are not quite so urgent that he can't pause to speak.]
no subject
It's not quite the same, of course. The magic here is so different from their natural abilities, but they'll take what they can get. And, really, it's easier to manage.
They're visiting the manor again when they hear someone talking - not exactly an unusual event, but Bailey is curious enough to follow the sound of his voice. They peek into the room, and the first thing they notice is Thanatos - someone who's very much alive. They debate whether they should leave him be or talk to him, before making up their mind and pressing in.]
Everything alright here?
no subject
Was he speaking too loudly? He studies the person in the doorway with a steady gaze, the silence before he answers stretching out for perhaps a fraction too long to still be comfortable. It's Thanatos' way, though, to remain quiet while he gets his thoughts in order.
Then he nods once, politely.]
Everything is fine.
[And he realises that he recognises this person as another death mage, but they have never spoken or given introductions to one another. The death mages who choose to spend time in Loch Manor have always seemed to be the kind of people who prefer to keep to themselves.]
The shade and I were just talking. Were we bothering you?

✵ Poison
Farm-tastic Crops | OTA
Though, granted, it has been... a while since the young woman has needed to work this hard and the effort she puts in has her puffing audibly as she walks back and forth across the field. It wouldn't take much observing of her to realise that she has none of the magic that would be useful here, but she returns any curious stares with a challenging look of her own. Just ask her about it.
She does take breaks from the work in the fields but is never really resting. Without Technomancy she pokes about with one of the coal-fired machines, adding smudges of soot to the dirt already on her clothes, hands and forehead. There's nothing that could be said about her enthusiasm and focus, even as she sticks her arm deep inside the machine she's working on and then--
There's the loud hum of the thing starting, and a loud yelp of surprise.]
Gen Prompt | Alchemy Guild | OTA
So she scurries about outdoors, moving bags of heavy soil, leaning planks of wood up against the rear of the building, and sorting out a surprisingly large number of seed packets.
If she sees someone she knows she'd be happy to wave them in to join her, and anyone looking for something they can't find in the guild will need to come outside to ask (or find Horus, if he's around). Though, anyone who doesn't know her and is interested in some gardening or DIY - those plant beds do need building after all - is more than welcome to offer a hand. She might not even stare too sullenly while she tries to figure out if you're serious.]
hello alchemy frand.
It looks like I showed at the perfect time to lend a hand.
[ His smile is wide and bright when he sees her. Happy to see someone he considers a friend. ]
Raised beds back here, yeah? Fiancé and I built some at our place before winter, so I've made them before.

✵ Red Wine
Our Neighbour Growboro | OTA
He twirls his sword with a small flourish but doesn't sheathe it. The enemies here are numerous and no doubt the noise that they had just made would attract more.
One of his long, pointed ears twitches faintly in the direction of a sound, and he tilts his head towards it.]
What do you think, are you ready for another round?
😶
he's not sure what he thinks, but they've a job to do, and so thinking is secondary to taking orders.
the noise has Century Egg's head turning in time with Red Wine's, his body immediately shifting into a position that allows easy movement, easy ability to jump in front of Red Wine as necessary, his eyes shifting to view his companion. )
I won't let you down.
( at least, when it comes to battle, he never does. )

Gen Prompt | Paper Folding | OTA
[In the middle of one of the spaces where large tents and raised cloths have been set up to keep the unsettling view of the sky out of view while children play outside, a group of little ones have gathered around where a pale, dark-haired man with red eyes and pointed ears is sitting in the grass. He has a stack of paper set neatly beside him with a rock on the top to keep it from blowing away, and is leading the children through each step required to make their own paper into a paper crane.
One of the children holds up their slightly misshapen finished product triumphantly, and Red Wine smiles. Not quite a grin - he doesn't want those visibly sharp canine teeth of his to scare the kids - but the smile seems more than enough encouragement as a couple of others then begin to clamour for his opinion.]
All right, all right--! One at a time... We'll do rabbits next, how about that? [Then he laughs.] They're not easy! You're going to have to be very quiet and concentrate.
[Then he looks up, catching the eye of someone watching.]
Interested in joining us, stranger? I'm sure the kids won't mind.
✵ Mogget
Snow Laughing Matter | OTA
They're not very smart.
[Snowmen. What can you really expect?
The thing turns around to try and find another way to get to the front door of a house, but is immediately blocked by another of those glowing walls. It looks like he's left it with only one option, and that is to go in the opposite direction that it wants to.]
Honestly, I can sit here all day. If you want to melt, it's really up to you.
[He leaves the light magic barriers up... unfortunately it's very difficult to see them until you walk right into them.]
no subject
Melting not bad idea.
[ It was just a snowman after all. ]
Can speed up with fire if need to.

Gen Prompt | Fishing | OTA
A few minutes go by, then one small paw darts into the water and one of the fish is flipped up onto the rock with the cat. Immediately, he picks it up in his mouth and turns around, then stops and stares at whoever might be watching him from the bank.
Then, as the fish flips between his jaws, he bites down and renders it still while maintaining deliberate eye contact with the person observing him.
