Speed Dating & Friendshipping

WHAT'S UP?

Speed Dating & Frienshipping is a (player-run) Valentine's Event hosted by Ren Jinguji and Camus at Shining Karaoke, located in Camelot.

During both of these events, participants talk to all other participants. Everyone is given five minutes to ask questions before they bell rings and you move onto the next person.

The tables all have cards that include simple questions if someone is stuck on what to ask. Here are some examples of what kind of questions there might be. Of course Speed Frienshipping won't have any "shippy" questions or ones that could be implied as such.

Everyone is free to make Top Levels for their characters for before and after the events themselves for mingling, singing karaoke or anything! World's your oyster and so on.

[ Stella has pretty much just barely gotten settled back in Avalon but there was no way in hell she was going to miss an event like speed friendshipping. She's already bouncing in her seat, all full of beans, but when someone sits down opposite her, she absolutely lights up.

If it's someone she hasn't met, she'll give them a huge grin and a greeting. ]

Hey! Wow, more people signed up for this than I was expecting... but that's good, right? Anyway! I'm Stella! How long've you been here in Avalon?

[ ... And if she sees someone she already knows, then she lets out a peal of sunny laughter. ]

Oh man, what are the odds – this isn't cheating, right?

[Archer is akwardly staring at Stella for this much energy. He doesn't do well with people with this much energy.]

Since... the beginning. So a year and three months.

Oh, yeah! You arrived with like, the first round of us too, right? For some reason, I'd always gotten the vibe that you got here a couple months later.

[ Mostly because he never seems to have friends hanging around that she's seen. ]

Dunno! I think maybe it's because when I first got here, I kinda tried to bug everyone a little bit so I knew who I was gonna be hanging out with while we were here? Like, obviously, a whole bunch of other people've turned up since, but I guess since I didn't meet you til a couple months later, my brain kinda went 'well that's when he turned up'.

[ Flawless logic. ]

There were quite a few of us arriving back then. There's no way you could have met everyone even if you tried.

I totally could've if I'd set my mind to it! I was just kinda distracted with getting settled, that's all!

Haha, definitely. [He didn't expect there to be this many either.] I'm Mamoru and... it was May last year when I arrived.

You returned only recently, right? I saw your network post.

Yup! I'd been around since the start, but I guess I kind of dipped... man, maybe November? I mean for me, it was basically like going for a nap and waking up in the middle of February so it was pretty wild! But a bunch of my friends are still here, and they're helping me get settled again, so it could totally be worse, y'know?

Three month nap... So people might be envious about that.

[Usagi wouldn't want to nap for that long even if she sometimes did sleep a lot, but he wouldn't be surprised if some people wanted to sleep that long.]

I'm glad you still have friends around. And now you get to make new ones, too.

Yeah! Don't get me wrong, I didn't love having to go through the whole newbie song and dance a second time... but the first time was way scarier! I was all by myself and I didn't know anybody in this place, or even really anything about where we were. At least this time, I know what I'm doing and I've got friends here, y'know?

[ She gives a little shrug. ]

So I'm kinda looking on the bright side, I guess!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Arriving on the beach without knowing if there's anyone you know around... that feeling of thinking you might be all alone is crushing.

[He was lucky enough for familiar people to find him right away, but he did have a moment of grief.]

I think remaining posititve and finding the good in situations is ideal, especially in the situation we've been put in.

Ugh, don't remind me. [ She huffs out a sigh, dropping her chin into the palm of her hand. ] It's honestly even worse if they're already here or they end up turning up later and just as you're getting used to having them around, they go poof.

[ Going by the glum expression on her face, it's something she's experienced firsthand. ]

... yeah. I know how that feels.

[They did lose three of their world's people - and in a rather short amount of time. So that type of loss is familiar to him.

But this isn't supposed to be a sad event.]

Why don't we think of something happier to talk about?

[ A huff of laughter. ]

[ But she'll cast around for a slightly cheerier topic to pick up instead. ]

How about... is there anything cool you've gotten to try here you wouldn't have been able to back home? Like a new hobby or maybe like, some new food or music or something.

Oh... well, we don't exactly have social media like this back home? So my fiancee and I take videos and photos of our samoyed to post on instagram. That's been fun.

[She breaks out into a smirk.]

[ Stella immediately brightens, returning a sunny grin of her own. ]

No kidding! I, uh, kind of dipped for something like... four months? Five months? [ Who's counting, really. ] I just got back, so I'm kinda trying to... catch up on everything, y'know?

[ She shrugs. ]

How about you?

I noticed at some point we hadn't heard from you in a while. At what point does your memory drop off?

Oh, me? I'm doing all right. A handful of people I knew have vanished, unfortunately, so I'm just trying to stick to the ones I have left.

[prismatically]

Just after Halloween... ish? I think? I was mostly sulking a lot 'cause Vi had gone home and I felt like I was catching a bug since I was getting sleepy all the time. Next thing I know...

[ She makes a roundabout hand gesture as if to say "here I am". ]

It sounds like nothing too crazy's happened since I dipped, at least.

Just... fae stuff. [She waves a hand.] You know what I mean. You're not sick anymore, though, are you?

All back to one hundred percent! Or maybe even a hundred and ten!

[ Given the wattage on the smile she gives Irhya, it's probably more in the ballpark of a hundred and fifty. ]

I'm just glad we're all still in one piece and most of my friends are still around.
