1. G(lacial)-Warriors 🗡️ (Knight quest)

A quest is just what he needs to take his mind off the plethora of revelations to come from his day of forced slumber - and what better way than to go out and hit something until it falls to pieces? He takes his gunblade, his horse, and the provisions provided by Camelot to all knights embarking on this particular journey. In typical fashion, he does not bother to ask around and see if anyone would like to join him. No, he wants the time to himself to sort out his thoughts.

Yet nothing is ever that easy, is it? He's ambushed by one of the I.C.E. constructs as he nears the spot. His horse rears up in alarm, throwing him from the saddle before bolting into the trees. Emet-Selch lands with a painful thud into a bank of snow. Fortunately, the gunblade strapped to his back seems in order. Unfortunately, the ICE is advancing on him and he's having trouble getting out of the snow.

2. Serve, Save, Slave, Slay...Some Sushi 🗡️

The sushi monster is no easier to slay than the I.C.E. as Emet-Selch discovers much to his chagrin. What does a man have to do to get some relatively simple knight quests??

The...creature(?) fires a round of pellets at him which has him diving into a rolls to avoid. He comes up into a crouch just in time to parry one of the sharp green swords it wields, quickly getting his feet beneath him before the second can slice him in half. He's been at it for a few minutes by now, focus utterly consumed by the opponent before him. He's growing tired though and the thing still doesn't look like it plans to give up.

"Ridiculous thing," he seethes. "And me, reduced to using these inferior magicks... I should have asked Irhya for a greatsword instead of a gunblade."

He fires off a round and its ricochet echoes throughout the forest. Even if the sound doesn't draw attention, the eerie blue after-image of the shot is worth attention.

3. I See You, Opening! 🛡️

Well of course, Emet-Selch doesn't want anything to do with these tricksy arrows and their dubious effects. But other people may have no such qualms. Perhaps you want to see this sour-looking man pour his heart out to one of his associates. Or perhaps you want to make him suffer by tasting nothing but chocolate for two weeks. Anything goes. Really. Anything.

If shooting: Please nominate which arrow you're shooting him with. I'm happy to write custom starters if you want.

If encountering him after he's been shot: Please nominate which effect you want for him. Again, I can write a custom starter if that's preferred.

After the sounds of some fussing from the other side of the shrubs... Felih makes his way back towards Zidane's current seat near Hades' discarded clothes.

"Sorry about that," he says, trying to put on a pleasant face after the small bout of yowling at his mate. "I... he's so stubborn, I swear," he says, before heaving a deep sigh. "Those are his clothes, yes? I can at least try to warm them for when he decides to come back up..."

With that, he settles down near Zidane, tail still lashing anxiously. "How do you know my mate, anyhow?"

Zidane at least doesn't laugh when Felih comes back. Hear one couple spat, hear them all, but it might be a first where one is telling their significant other to get their ass out of a freezing lake.

"Don't worry about it. But... if he's used to cold temperatures, I don't see this working." And it was his idea. You'd think he'd remember an important detail like that?? Nodding, Zidane takes out the bottle he received and holds it out to Felih. "Megumi brought this by. A warming drink if he needs it."

And once free of that, he gestures back towards the water hidden behind the bushes. "Haha, that. We met when those folks in Celliwig enchanted dolls into playing hide and seek. He got pretty mad at a mimic."

Felih sighs. "You'd think he would take that into account, but he can be so ridiculous for someone so intelligent," he mumbles, resting a cheek on his hand as he leans an elbow on his knee. "Oh, thank the gods. Megumi was better prepared than I was... but hells, how was I to expect my mate would be dunking himself into icewater?"

Still, he gratefully accepts the bottle, and gathers Hades' clothes into a bundle so he can start to warm them with a bit of magic.

"A mimic? What, pray tell, did the mimic do to provoke him?" he chirps curiously. He doesn't recall such an event happening, but with his absence for quite a while, Felih wonders if it happened while he was away.

"Haha, we all have our moments..." Zidane's a little more than someone like Emet, but we can't all work at full capacity every day. In regards to the ice water, maybe he could've mentioned that, but it wasn't like he had thrown Emet in either. With enough dry materials and the towel, they should be good.

"Caught him in its tongue. It didn't do anything besides that - they weren't as aggressive as some I've encountered."

Felih shakes his head in amusement, before chirping, "He was lucky it just tangled him up. Mimics I encounter tend to be far more bloodthirsty and predatory."

"What's the realm you're from like? Is it anything like this one?" he asks curiously, ears perking forward. If nothing else, he always wants to learn about other worlds and their peoples and cultures, the adventurer's heart in him wishing he could go see them all.

"Yeah. Wouldn't have been as fun if they'd been more aggressive..." Ugh, he could already picture it.

To answer Felih's curious question, Zidane nods. "Yeah. Though, the world here is a bit more advanced technologically speaking, but I could see one place picking up on it fast. Oh, there's also less faeries to deal with..."

Which is, after being here, kind of important.

"What about you? What's your world like?"

"Mine? Oh... how to begin...? It's a grand, beautiful world, diverse in its climes, cultures, people, flora, fauna- it's so hard to try and sum it up as a whole. It's a world where magic flourishes and beasts both dangerous and fantastic live, and a world where adventurers and other battlefolk are crucial to keeping the commonfolk safe," Felih explains, a small fondness in his voice.

"For all its flaws, I think it's still a beautiful world," he murmurs, before his eyes drift over to Zidane's tail, and he looks intrigued. "Oh! Your tail... hm, you don't appear Miqo'te. Perhaps something more... simian?" he muses aloud. "Do the people in your realm all have such interesting, prehensile tails?"

[tantailizing]

"Oooh, poetic~ And it does draw intrigue. I wouldn't mind seeing it." He grins, but really, that sounded close to his world. It's why he would have to go and verify if at all possible. Take on a monster or two... several...

Nodding, Zidane looks behind him and lets his tail curl up when it's noted. "Yeah, something like that." And then he shakes his head. "Nah, you have plenty of tails around though. Rat tails, dog tails, deer tails, even the few cat tails, then no tails at all. It's almost about a handful that has a tail matching mine."

"I would love to show you around, if I could. There's so much of it that's wonderful to experience," Felih purrs contentedly, tail curling around himself a bit tighter to help himself keep warm. Zidane's continued explanation of the peoples of his home have Felih's ears perking forward, however.

"So many folk sporting animal traits... in my realm, there are the Viera, rabbit-eared folk, and us Miqo'te, the feline folk. That's the only ones I can think of so far... the Lupin and Hrothgar are more beast-like than us, but they could count too. What are the names of all those peoples?"

"Haha, sounds like another adventure waiting to happen!" And he's up for that! But, he'd have to discuss it before disappearing on a certain someone - no point in making them worry. And at Felih's comment, he nods.

"Names? They don't really have one. They're just who they are... oh, but never call them by the animals they look. It's pretty insulting to them unless you're on good terms with them and mean it in jest." But that's how it is with friends.

"Don't have names... huh. So they are all a unified group of people?" Felih asks curiously, ears still perked forward with his intrigue. "Do they share a culture, perhaps?"

It's the mention of not calling them by the animals they resemble that Felih nods. "Oh, yes, 'tis much the same in my realm. You don't reduce someone to their bestial traits unless you're friends with them- or being condescending," he says with a huff, tail twitching. "Were someone to merely call me a cat, they'd get a swat to the face, if not claws."

"Pretty much yeah. The only ones that I can think that stand apart are the Burmecians, but they're more named after where they live and not what they are. And culturally speaking, you'll never meet more elite dragon knights." A hand to his chin, Zidane nods. "Aside from them, the only real standouts would be the people living on other continents like the Summoners, Dwarves, and Black Mages."

He chuckles and nods. "I get it. Though, I've been called 'monkey' so often for plenty of reasons, I just let it slide. Still, that's just me."

Felih blinks curiously, tilting his head. "Summoners, Dwarves, and Black Mages...?" To think of those as cultures and not merely jobs is odd to him, and he asks, "Your realm has an abundance of Black Mages? Do they not risk destroying the realm? And summoners as well... the art was nearly lost in our realm, though it is experiencing a steady revival."

"You have far more grace than I," Felih hums, with a soft laugh. "I was sick of folk treating me as some animal, as something exotic. Miqo'te men are much rarer than women, yes, but it doesn't give folk the right to treat us the way they sometimes do."

[tantailizing]

"Destroying the...? No, no, they're like anyone else. Honestly, the only ones that can interact with them right now are the others like me, and they all want to be left alone. Too many people wanting to use their powers already, or hurt them for things that weren't their fault..." He cringes slightly at the mention of reviving summoning. "Yeah, about that... there's only two summoners now, but I'm sure it will be revived."

Zidane nods, getting it. "Yeah, they shouldn't do that. I give people a reason to call me out, but for you, that's some bullshit."

"I see... I ask merely because in my realm, the War of the Magi led to a Calamity across the entire star," Felih elaborates, before humming. "But if they seclude themselves, then they must know the weight of the art they wield."

He takes a deep breath and then heaves a grand sigh, stretching. "It's intriguing, hearing about your world. It just makes me more and more curious to go see it," he whines, with a pout. "Though despite my traversals across dimensions, I've yet to figure out how to accomplish it myself. It would be amazing to travel to other worlds..."

[tantailizing]

"Ah.... Far as I know, there's never been a war like that." But a war that lead to a Calamity? That's not good. But he nods at the statement. "Not like they were given a choice."

The musing about visiting worlds has Zidane nod. "Better start making a list. I'm sure you'll figure it out once we're finished here." He seems like the type that'd find a way somehow. And maybe it would be a way without a spaceship or something.

Felih laughs softly. "I suppose I should. There's so much to explore! I've heard about realms with all kinds of strange machines that do wondrous things... and without magic or aether! There are worlds entirely bereft of either, or both! And yet life thrives... it's a curious thing indeed."

He purrs softly. "Thank you again for taking care of my mate in his stubbornness. Now I have yet another ally in keeping him in check, I hope?" he says with another laugh.

[tantailizing]

"Right?? I have to go see one of these 'amusement parks' Izuku told me about." Not to mention he'd like to see what a Quirk actually was like... maybe fight a villain himself. Guess he'd get in trouble for it from how the Hero class described things working, but whatever.

"Haha, no problem. And sure, I'll keep an eye on him for ya. He never even has to know." He can be very sneaky like that.

"Amusement parks? Now I'm curious," Felih chirps, ears perking forward. "I'll have to do some research on such a thing..."

He does laugh at the last comment though, eyes shining with mirth. "Is that so? If you can manage to surveil him while he remains unawares, then I'll commend you. Hm, I should repay you somehow... I'm quite a good good, and a tailor besides. Or if you're looking for grooming and spa services, I'm just as skilled in such matters. Is there aught you require?"

... Did you mean good cook btw?

"Right? He said there are these things called 'roller coasters' and they serve almost festival food!" So two things to start looking into; and the way Zidane's tail whips around, he liked a lot of what he heard.

Blinking, Zidane shakes his head. "Nah, you don't have to do that. Emet's someone important to you; and if he's willing to take a dip into an icy river over asking for help, keeping an eye out for him sounds like it needs to happen."

"Rollee coasters...?" Felih looks intrigued, if a bit confused. Rolling drink coasters...? "What are they like? And I wouldn't ever turn down festival food, it's a delightful treat."

His smile warms and softens. "You're very kind. Considering Emet's penchant for stubborn independence... he certainly does need folk looking out for him. He would be offended to hear me say so, I'm sure."

Haha! Totally fine!

[tantailizing]

"Yeah! If you know what a train is, it's like that, but the carts are smaller and it's supposed to move really fast on a winding track!" And he's up for anything that might move fast. Also, festival food!

Zidane shakes his head with a chuckle. "Always gotta be someone like that, huh? He should already know that asking you for help isn't a bother."

Felih shudders.

"Yes, I'm familiar with trains. Had to fight one once, but I'm... rather certain most trains aren't possessed by phantoms," he explains, with a weak laugh. "So like quickly moving minecarts, perhaps...? That sounds like it could be fun."

He perks up a little more, his smile somewhat fond. "He should know, but... well. He is who he is, and I love him. I only wish he weren't so stubborn, sometimes."

[tantailizing]

"... Fight a train? Aha, no I don't think most are possessed by phantoms." Because that would be awful... though, oh, what about a haunted airship? Oooh~ Spooky! "Right? I can't wait to try one out!"

He has to grin at Felih's shift in demeanor. What? It's always nice to hear people talk about their loved ones. "Hehe, you'd end up missing it if he became less stubborn somehow."

"You're right about that. Part of the fun is teasing and coaxing him into giving in," Felih chirps, mischief in his eyes, a soft sigh leaving his lips. "There's much more to him under that gruff surface. He cares so much more than he wants folk to know, I think," he murmurs, eyes warm.

"For the time we've been granted together... I'm grateful."
