1. G(lacial)-Warriors 🗡️ (Knight quest)

A quest is just what he needs to take his mind off the plethora of revelations to come from his day of forced slumber - and what better way than to go out and hit something until it falls to pieces? He takes his gunblade, his horse, and the provisions provided by Camelot to all knights embarking on this particular journey. In typical fashion, he does not bother to ask around and see if anyone would like to join him. No, he wants the time to himself to sort out his thoughts.

Yet nothing is ever that easy, is it? He's ambushed by one of the I.C.E. constructs as he nears the spot. His horse rears up in alarm, throwing him from the saddle before bolting into the trees. Emet-Selch lands with a painful thud into a bank of snow. Fortunately, the gunblade strapped to his back seems in order. Unfortunately, the ICE is advancing on him and he's having trouble getting out of the snow.

2. Serve, Save, Slave, Slay...Some Sushi 🗡️

The sushi monster is no easier to slay than the I.C.E. as Emet-Selch discovers much to his chagrin. What does a man have to do to get some relatively simple knight quests??

The...creature(?) fires a round of pellets at him which has him diving into a rolls to avoid. He comes up into a crouch just in time to parry one of the sharp green swords it wields, quickly getting his feet beneath him before the second can slice him in half. He's been at it for a few minutes by now, focus utterly consumed by the opponent before him. He's growing tired though and the thing still doesn't look like it plans to give up.

"Ridiculous thing," he seethes. "And me, reduced to using these inferior magicks... I should have asked Irhya for a greatsword instead of a gunblade."

He fires off a round and its ricochet echoes throughout the forest. Even if the sound doesn't draw attention, the eerie blue after-image of the shot is worth attention.

3. I See You, Opening! 🛡️

Well of course, Emet-Selch doesn't want anything to do with these tricksy arrows and their dubious effects. But other people may have no such qualms. Perhaps you want to see this sour-looking man pour his heart out to one of his associates. Or perhaps you want to make him suffer by tasting nothing but chocolate for two weeks. Anything goes. ~~Really. Anything.~~

If shooting: Please nominate which arrow you're shooting him with. I'm happy to write custom starters if you want.

If encountering him after he's been shot: Please nominate which effect you want for him. Again, I can write a custom starter if that's preferred.

[Gokudera is cautious and looks a bit stunned when Emet fires off a shot, only to be relieved when it’s at the ground. The rustling stops for a moment, but the chill to the air grows.

It’s a new I.C.E. construct, and Gokudera is firing off his bomb arrow with a whip of his hand.]

Back up-

[Because that bomb isn’t going to give them much room to evade as it goes off.]

[ Reaching around Gokudera, he pulls on the horse's reins with his free hand, backing the animal away from the second I.C.E. He has no desire to be near the detonation either. It will throw up more memories he has no desire to relive. ]

What I wouldn't give for magitek armour...

[The dynamite goes off, throwing the ICE a few feet away from them, but not destroying it. Gokudera throws up a shield of light magic before them as the horse backs up, then he looks over his shoulder at Emet, lifting an eyebrow at him.]

What’s that?

[Casually setting up the next bomb arrow. Maybe he can draw it back with enough force to pierce their foe.]

Artillery which utilises an aether-rich fuel known as ceruleum. 'Twas designed such that any footsoldier of the Garlean army could operate it.

[ He carefully watches the fallen ICE as it struggles to raise itself up. He dares not fire whilst Gokudera's shield is up lest it ricochet at them instead. ]

It would have made short work of these things.

Sounds like that would be useful.

[Real shame they don’t have it. Oh well, just gotta use what they do have! Gokudera lifts the light shield for a moment.]

Hit it again. I don’t like that it’s still moving.

[No sense of self-preservation with these constructs, is there? Gokudera doesn’t feel in any danger while they’re working together like this. He reaches out to pat his horse, back it up a little more as well so they are less likely to be in any immediate danger of the blasts he’ll fire off in a moment.

It’s nothing like the constructs in Tanagura that had malfunctioned. Those were meant. To destroy people with power. Guess since they’ve had their powers substituted in this world with magic, it’s similar, but… easier. Maybe he and Emet-Selch are just… higher level than most, considering their time in this world.

Then again, he knows that his companion on this trip has probably been through so much that he’d been OP upon arrival in this world.]

[ With the shield down, he takes aim and fires another shot right into its body. The thing jolts from the impact but then goes still. Deathly still. Emet-Selch counts out to ten before he lowers his gunblade. ]

It seems to be dead. Do we leave the body where it is, do you think? I don't recall them specifying.

[ If King Arthur has no plans for the broken machines, perhaps he can take the scrap and re-purpose it for his shop. ]

Maybe we should come back for it once the area is cleared, take it aside for research, or however you knights handle things. Seems like a shame to leave a weapon, or any kind of good parts lying about.

[Gokudera wouldn’t mind either way. It’s not like it’s posing an immediate threat to the safety of his boss, so… it’s not safe here, and they can clear them. What else comes after that? Gokudera isn’t signed up for the Rag-tag Knights of Camelot newsletter.]

Indeed. The last thing we need is some opportunistic thief making off with it.

[ He twists around, listening for something. But there is only silence. ]

I hope my horse did not flee too far. Good beasts of burden are expensive, [ he sighs. ] Let's press on.
