[ JJ felt like they were overdue for a date. One that they weren't going on because of birthdays or other events, at least. Even though he knew Makoto would agree to go, he was still glad when his fiancé did. They didn't make many plans - really only dinner out and some time together afterwards, but that was okay. JJ decided that he'd just bring up whatever fun thing crossed his mind. He knew he'd have something more to do after they ate.

Of course, JJ was taking his sweet time getting ready to go - because apparently his impulsive nature extended only to things to do, not what to wear. He was alternating between a red button up and a black.

Does it matter, really? No.

But it does matter to him. ]

I'll be ready in like 30 seconds.

[ He swears it, really. ]

You said that 30 seconds ago.

[As nonchalant as Makoto said that, one wouldn't guess that he was sitting on the floor playing fetch with Biscuit. Was dog hair getting on his own nice clothes? Probably, but that's why there was a lint roller nearby. Besides, he made sure not to let the dog actually climb all over him.]

Pick the red one.

[Good thing Makoto also knew most of JJ's wardrobe.]

Did I?

[ He absolutely did. But, he tugs picks up the red shirt regardless, tugging it on as he turned to face Makoto. ]

Red does suit me.

[ As he works on his buttons, he watches Makoto play with Biscuit, who seems delighted to play with him. He watches quietly, but only for a few moments. JJ doesn't stay quiet for very long. ]

You look gorgeous, babe. As expected.

[ When doesn't he? ]

[Makoto hadn't even really been looking since Biscuit need more of the living room space to play around, but he was close enough to the door to occasionally peek.

He was on his knees, sweeping the toy from one side to the other, riling the young dog up to try and catch it on the floor. Makoto then tossed it to the other side of the room for Biscuit to dart off and go find to bring back.

Makoto looked up with a smile.]

Red's just your color, so it's easy to choose. I don't know about expected, I'm pretty plain next to the king, though.

Plain?

[ It's easy for him to forget that Makoto doesn't realize how attractive he is. Especially JJ has enough confidence for the both of them... plus some. But he does want Makoto to know that he's really attractive. Once his shirt was buttoned, he took another couple steps towards Makoto and offered his hand towards the man. ]

You're not plain. You're gorgeous. You wouldn't even need to marry me to be royalty.

[ Not that he wants that, obviously. ]

[It isn't like he thinks himself ugly! Just... nothing extraordinary either. So, he only laughed rather than argued. He just believed JJ was biased. It was a bit ironic though, having JJ hold his hand out like that.

Wasn't that something he was always doing with Haru? He hoped his friends were doing alright without him.

He pushed the homesickness aside and took JJ's hand, pulling himself up with a small grunt.]

Alright, that's enough playing Biscuit. Be good while we're out, okay?

[The dog whined a little, dropping his toy with a pant as Makoto gave him one last scritch between the ears.]

I'm sure he'll be very good. Won't you, Biscuit? Watch after the triplets and make sure they don't get up to any trouble.

[ JJ bent to offer the dog pets on the head. The other three have chosen to take a nap, and are in a pile on the couch cuddling. All four of them were typically very good when they were together. He and Makoto never really had anything to worry about, he found. Still, the dog seemed to focus on him for a moment when he spoke, so JJ gave him another head pet before standing upright and hooking his arms in his fiance's. ]

A dinner date, and maybe...we get a treat somewhere?

[ He wants to see where the night takes him, but as long as he gets to have a nice few, romantic moments - he'll be happy. ]

As long as I'm with you.

[ Smile. ]

[Biscuit wagged his tail in reply while Makoto leaned into JJ a little when his arm was taken.]

Let's just play it by ear. There's enough places for us to browse after dinner.

[He nudged JJ toward the door. They were never going to leave if they kept petting Biscuit!]

So, what's on the menu? I don't think I've been to this place.

There's a lot of seafood and chicken on the menu.

[ Okay, okay he's leaving. He'll make sure to lock the door behind them. ]

I would say it looks healthy, but I saw there were a lot of really great looking desserts.

[ He knows Makoto likes chocolate, and that's part of why he picked it. Not the only reason, of course. ]

It looked pretty quiet, too. So pretty much a perfect place for a date.

[They were just going to keep playing with the dogs the longer they stayed and became susceptible to those eyes.]

Only you'd point out it's both healthy and has desserts. [He said it with a laugh.] I'm good trying their seafood options. It's been awhile, I think. Camelot isn't exactly a port town, unlike Iwatobi, so I haven't seen a lot of places that offer it.

Well, yeah. Desserts are great. Almost the most important part of a meal.

[ He grins. ]

End on a strong note, you know?

[ He starts walking with the other, leading him in the direction of the restaurant that he's picked out. It's nice and cold outside, but it feels nice to JJ. He loves the cold. ]

I haven't had it for awhile, either, so I was excited when Is aw this place. I mean, where I'm from isn't really known for seafood, but the fresh seafood when I visited Japan was always amazing. I'm excited to take you here!

Almost.

[He nodded with a laugh.]

Well, Japan is a bit of a seafood nation aside from rice. But I'm sure there are places in Canada that had great seafood too considering you have places along the coasts and such, right?

Some, yeah. When I'm in Canada, I'm closer to New York City than I am any ocean, though.

[ He doesn't spend a lot of time on the coast. He smiles. ]

Japan's seafood is superior to any other place, though. It's always good when I'm there. I hope this place is at least pretty decent. I like it, though. And I thought it might be nice given that we don't see places like this often here or where we were before.

Yeah, for sure. You know I'm pretty amiable to most places though, so I'm sure I'll like it. Do you know what kind of dessert they have?

[He may be a chocolate fiend but he enjoyed anything sweet, so he was curious what a seafood place would carry.]

I saw cheesecakes and strawberry shortcake.

[ Both of which sounds amazing. He knows Makoto loves chocolate, but he also knows that a great strawberry dessert after some seafood sounded amazing. So he was here for it. ]

The cheesecakes had all sorts of toppings, too. Might have chocolate sauce. I didn't check.

[ He wonders... ]
