Trumpets blow loudly to introduce the start of the tournament day. Everyone is invited to watch or participate. Those who would like to sign up need simply sign in for the competition they seek to join in on. Sign ups open at 8am, though you can sign up any time before the start of your competition category. There are different prizes listed for each category!
In the sign-up area before the tournaments begin, there will be a number of entertainment shows going on: Some of the fae who were invited are giving enchanted body paintings. Once the painting is finished, they will travel across your body like a living tattoo. Please be sure to specify if you would like it to be permanent or temporary, and exactly what you want-- especially if you want a permanent one.
In addition to the body painting, there will be a number of clowns playing pranks and giving out balloons that, when popped, completely cover the surrounding 5 feet in glow-in-the-dark glitter that smells of your favorite scent. Each one will smell different depending on who is smelling it. What's more is the glitter actually dissolves after 12 hours, so you don't have to worry about it never getting out of anything. Amazing!
There are additional dance shows and parades going on through the town and near the sign-up area to draw people in, and little pop-up shops with merch you can buy to support the tournament-- cool t-shirts, sunglasses, hats, keychains, and more. Don't forget to download the Tournament Bets app so you can place money on your favorites to win and make bank! Maybe save some for the tavern afterward if things don't work out, though... or before you make any decisions, check out the castles' royal tea garden, beautifully decorated in a wide variety of wintery florals, which is set up and serving a delightful medley of teas with soothing effects. Just be careful-- each table has a magic grapevine that will communicate with another table, so you may end up hearing someone else's secrets on the grapevine... or just ending up with a fun conversation if you notice it before you say something you don't want to share.
As the tournament gets underway, it starts off with all of the multiview screens taking focus on the royal viewing box. In it stands a man that we have not yet seen before, but who stands with an air of dignity. He's wearing a suit, and a crown, and looks confident despite that he has many reasons to be hesitant- he is back from the dead, after all.
 | ”"My name is Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. Many of you may have heard of me from your worlds I'm told, and many still may not have, but I will begin with an apology. I should have been there for those of you who arrived months ago and have been bravely pursuing this battle without leadership. I am afraid a few millennia of culture shock have thrown me off course and the Advent of the Kardashians in my studies has not helped these matters. But that is little excuse. From here on out, I will be with you in your journeys. Those who have questions of me, I will be offering an..."
Merlin's voice comes in off-camera to help him out, since he's still not sure on all the lingo, offering "AMA" to assist, then Arthur continues.
"An AMA to you all in the coming days. But for the time being, let us celebrate the wins and strides you all have made with a tournament. Those brave enough to enter, I hope to see you vying for knighthood and fighting alongside me in the days to come. For the love of Camelot!" |
The video ends and the first tournament event begins. The categories and prizes are as follows:Close-Quarters Melee (No Magic): Any non-projectile weapon is allowed. All combatants meet on a sand lot surrounded by stands. The last combatant standing wins. Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Enchanted Gold Rose
Dark & Light Submission: Dark magic users will be given instructions to utilize shadow magic to essentially swallow their light opponent into a vat of darkness and pull them into pitch-black dungeons underground. Light magic users are given intsructions to create hardlight bindings to stop their dark magic opponents from controlling the shadows. Whoever secures their opponent first wins. (Multiple winners.) Prize: 10,000G; (Potion) Countercurse
Alchemy & Kinetic Animated Battles: An alchemist and a kinetic user pair up to alchemize a warrior of their choosing. Prize: 50,000G to each member of the winning team; (Potion) Animatia
Single Element Knock-Out: Elemental magic users may select one element to fight with. Each magic user is given their own platform in a pool. The goal is to knock your opponents into the water. Note: The water of the pool is not usable in the competition; using the pool will result in disqualification. You can jump from platform to platform to avoid hits but leaving the pool area will result in disqualification. Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Glowstick
Magical Melee: Like the close-quarters free-for-all, any magic type may join in. All combatants meet on a sand lot surrounded by stands. The last mage standing wins. Prize: 500,000G; (Item) Channeling Staff
Anyone who participates will get the following: A big thank you, a free meal ticket redeemable at any food stand during lunch, and (Recipe) Cool Firework. Reminder that players who want their character to win should sign up on the plotting post here. You can thread anything out on the log. Please sign up before 11:59pm on Friday 1/22. Results will be drawn live if we can figure out an easy way to do that and posted on Saturday.

Louis | Beastars | OTA
[ Louis considered not going out to the event, as his antlers haven't fully grown in, just small nubs on top of his head, just starting to grow back. He didn't show up thinking he'd want to get a body painting, but he's a little curious by the entire thing. Certainly - there's factors to consider while here. How will it look with his fur? How will it wash out?
Should he just get something permanent? He doesn't know that he should. He doesn't know if it would stick with him when he got home and he's pretty sure that would be a bad idea. He brings his hand to his muzzle and ponders it, considering the colors and designs. ]
If it's not permanent, it probably doesn't matter.
[ Right? ]
b. place your bets
[ They're selling merchandise. This is an awful lot, maybe too much for him. He blinks, staring at the array of items that just advertise the excitement for the tournament. Maybe he should get a t-shirt, or a hat. Given that his antlers are nothing more than nubs on top of his head - they can actually fit him right now.
Rather than go for something that won't be good to him in about two weeks, he lifts up a pair of sunglasses and props them onto his nose.
He turns towards the nearest person as the sunglasses sit awkwardly on his face. ]
I don't know if this suits me.
c. wildcard
[ want to do something else? have an idea of your own! feel free. you can also hit me up
a
like Ainsworth when he shifts into a wall. just like that.
but freezing in place — almost literally, as her back is fully exposed to the winter elements at this booth, and it takes just as much effort not to shiver as it does not to twitch at the bristles against her skin — means that her current view is little more than the back of this guy's booth, decorated in all sorts of sample designs for people to choose from. which is to say, she hears Louis, rather than sees him. )
Does it matter if it's permanent? 'S your skin.

[ He has an image to maintain, after all. He doesn't know if Azuki would be overly thrilled if once he returned home he had paintings and designs over his fur. She might even break up with him. Hmm, this is making him consider it all over again. No, he shouldn't, right? ]
Though I guess if I truly love something, I can always obtain a permanent version.
[ He'd have to feel it out first. After all, how it would look on his fur is certainly not going to be the same as it looks on human flesh. ]
no subject
keeping it casual works much better, doesn't it? )
Cover it up. ( she'd shrug, but given the fact that a fae is currently crafting the sky across her back... maybe not. easy enough, right? )
AHHH i missed this.
[ He doesn't want to cause waves at home, but if he wants something, he's going to get something. His relationship with Azuki is strictly business, after all. He doesn't know if she actually cares what he keeps underneath any of his clothing. It works out if he wants to do something permanent and stupid. ]
Is that what you're going to do? Just cover up the artwork?
[ He doesn't know if she's the type. And the artwork is gorgeous as far as he's concerned. ]
<3
When I have to.
( it's cold enough that it won't see the light of day for a while yet, and it'll have to be covered up at work, should she ever return home, much like the elephant above it and the flowers curving across her thigh and hip. )
Too cold to wear summat backless..

[ Louis hates it, thanks. He's not good with cool temperatures or even anything below 'warm'. He can't wait for spring to happen because he's tired of bundling up at absolutely all times. ]
Obviously. I guess all that matters is if you see it anyway.
[ So who cares if others ever see it.]
no subject
Want to see the other one?
( he should be able to see the elephant, given the fact it's on the back of her neck, but there's one more hiding under her clothes.
...not like that. )
no subject
[ Well, he's admittedly pretty curious of the tattoos she has, and since she offered to show him, he sees no reason that he should turn it down. And, well, if one is an elephant - maybe her other is interesting, too.
Especially because she seems like such a colorful person. ]

b (Lucy)
Lucy herself is unlike most of the other humans in this world. Two white horns are atop her head, poking through her pink hair, though they almost look like cat ears.]
Yeah, you definitely need a pair that fit more closely to your face. I can still see parts of your eyes. Although, some people actually like that look, so it's up to your personal preference.
[She reaches for two shirts she'd been considering earlier and holds them up. She just wants an opinion from someone who doesn't know her, mostly out of curiosity to see which one they thought suited her best based on their first impression of her.]
I have animal magic, so I was looking at these two, but I can't make up my mind. What do you think? This one or this one?
no subject
[ These aren't really designed for deer muzzles or faces that don't just have a nose and ears to plop them on. He'd have to use some magic to get them in a proper place. He takes them off and returns them to the vendor, opting to check out some knick-knacks, which he's not inclined to buy but is overall fascinated by. They really went all out, huh.
He glances towards the shirts in question and tilts his head towards her, considering her and the shirts and her. The entire concept is really all too weird to him, but he's never much liked graphic tees. He has opted to try and not be overtly rude, so he just asks: ]
How old are you?
no subject
[Her time in Prisma and being able to have friends has mellowed her out some, so her tone of voice isn't defensive. Just genuinely asking why her age would matter.]
It's not like they're characters from a little kid's TV show. I didn't have a lot of nice clothes growing up either.
[Most of the clothes she got from the orphanage were hand-me-downs, or donations. Plus at the time, she worried that wearing nice clothes would attract more unwanted attention towards her from the other children, so she would pass up certain clothes, even if she had wanted them.]
no subject
Then why does my opinion even matter to you?
[ It comes just as easily. After all, if she was dead set on them, then she should just get what she wants. That is what he'd do, after all. Other people be damned, do what you want to do to get to where you want to. But then, she mentions how she grew up and he clicks his tongue in annoyance. ]
What does how you grew up have to do with it?
[ He sees no relevance. If people made excuses for him because of where he came from, he'd feel weak and patronized. And he's not inclined to care or mince words just because of where someone else came form.
So, he takes a step back and turns on his heel. ]
Maybe you'd be better off asking someone else.
no subject
[Since back in her world, the first thought most humans had of her was "monster" or something else unflattering.]
Because even if I saw clothes that I liked, I didn't take them. Didn't want to attract more unwanted attention to myself. But here, people don't mind that I have horns, because unlike deer, it's not common for humans to have them. Or, in my case, human-looking beings.
[Since she's technically a different species from humans. She lowers her head slightly, drawing attention to the two white structures poking through her pink hair.
She doesn't try to snatch his arm to stop him, just frowns at his back and makes a "tch" sound.]
Wow, and I thought I was bad at interacting with others. You didn't have to take what I said that seriously. They're just shirts. It's not like I insulted you.
[At least, not intentionally.]
no subject
He knows what it means to get buried in your past, and to spend time trying to make up for something that was never there - like for Louis, the opportunity to be stronger than carnivores. But that wasn't who he was anymore. He didn't let himself get trapped in who he once was because it was a nasty loop. That curse was broken the day Legosi ate his foot, and he lost all of his hatred for them with it. It helped him separate himself from where he came from, and treat the memory as if it's someone else's and he was simply a visitor passing through.
There's no real shift in his demeanor, though he takes a moment to stop. He tilts his head back. His expression is easy, unbothered. He clearly wasn't taking this as seriously as she seemed to think he had. He lifts up his hand in a small wave. ]
I'll be fine. Enjoy the rest of the celebration.
no subject
Slightly confused and unsure how to react now that the wind's been taken from her sails, she awkwardly waves back, calling out to him.]
Uh, yeah. Thanks? Can I at least get a name so I can tell my friend who you are?
[And by "friend" she means Nyuu. Referring to Nyuu as her other self in this moment would be too confusing, but she really does consider Nyuu a friend, even though they share the same body and can't directly interact with each other. While she's not sure if she'll want to run into this deer again, Lucy hasn't deemed him as someone to avoid completely yet. Best to keep Nyuu informed.
All of a sudden, she hears the sound of a small piece of metal clinking behind her, and when she looks down, her pet corgi Milly has done a Houdini and managed to loosen her leash from where Lucy had tied it to keep her in place. The small dog runs toward Louis, barking happily while her leash trails behind her.]
Ah, Milly! Come back!
[With her animal magic, Lucy can clearly hear Milly's excited voice saying, "This guy looks like a deer, but he walks on two legs! I want to play with him!" The corgi will be jumping against Louis for some petting if he doesn't do anything to stop her.]
no subject
[ He said it with another final wave. He sees no point in not answering her question. He's the only bipedal deer around here, and anyone determined enough could easily find him if they were determined to do so. Even if Louis likes to keep to himself, there were plenty of people who had simply just seen him around. He sees no point in engaging with a debate over a t-shirt. He's of the opinion that people should really just get what they want in the end, even if they don't like the way someone else feels about something.
And that's when he hears the bark. His ears twist and turn in the direction of the sound. Part of him feels that prey instinct to kick of his feet and take off and get lost in a crowd somewhere - to see how fast he can possibly go with one foot and a prosthetic. Even if he knows there's no reason to be afraid, to be concerned. This dog is of no threat to him.
If the goal today was specifically to disgruntle him - it was successful. He doesn't like being jumped on by strange animals. The moment he feels the animal has gotten too close, he turns, squats, and hooks his fingers in the collar to gain control of the situation. It at least keeps the dog from jumping up on him. There's no affection in his action. ]
Don't touch me.
[ His attention shifts up towards her. ]
Consider leaving your dog at home if this is going to occur. Most animals won't enjoy being accosted by another random animal.
[ Please come get your dog so he can go enjoy the tournament. ]

A.
He shrugs.]
Well if it's not permanent, then you can get whatever you want! What are you into? Maybe you can get something related to that? Just don't get anything lame like flowers or hearts!
[This guy never asked for your opinion, Crow.]
no subject
Do I strike you as the flower and hearts type of guy?
no subject
Dunno. A daisy on the cheek could attract the does. A heart might appeal to your more sensitive side...if you have one?
[His red eyes peers at the buck for a moment before bursting out laughing.]
Nope! You'll look completely ridiculous!
no subject
On the nose - not really my style. Nice try, though. You could have convinced me had you tried a little harder.
[ Not really. ]
Maybe we'll just go for some patterns instead of an actual images.
[ Amused, he shifts his attention towards Crow. ]
I mean, my fur can be pretty soft, but I think we'll skip out on adding hearts. What are you getting?
no subject
Patterns? Do you mean like tribal symbols?
[Crow seems a little curious of Louis's idea, but since the deer flips the attention over to him, the redhead is happy to talk about his amazing ideas!]
I'm gonna get black wings on my back and maybe flames on my hands. What do you think?
no subject
[ He's not really the type to do things like paint on himself. But surely, no actual pictures and just colors and designs would work. And, it'd probably look terrible as it slowly fades away color by color. ]
They sound like they suit you a lot.
[ He seems excitable, a bit extra. So that's just right. There's no insult in his words, at least. ]
Not everyone could pull it off.
no subject
He grins at the compliment because he surely does take it to the head. He puffs out his chest as he completely agrees with Louis.]
That's right! It certainly won't hurt my image, it'll only enhance it! You seem stoic, so I guess something elaborate wouldn't make sense. What do you do for work in your homeworld?
no subject
I'm the CEO of a Conglomerate. So I make a lot of decisions for a lot of businesses.
[ Sounds fun. And Crow's right. Louis does seem pretty stoic. ]
I'm not a flashy guy like you seem to be, you're right about that. I'd probably want something easy to hide, too. But you probably want something specifically to show off, huh?
