Trumpets blow loudly to introduce the start of the tournament day. Everyone is invited to watch or participate. Those who would like to sign up need simply sign in for the competition they seek to join in on. Sign ups open at 8am, though you can sign up any time before the start of your competition category. There are different prizes listed for each category!

In the sign-up area before the tournaments begin, there will be a number of entertainment shows going on: Some of the fae who were invited are giving enchanted body paintings. Once the painting is finished, they will travel across your body like a living tattoo. Please be sure to specify if you would like it to be permanent or temporary, and exactly what you want-- especially if you want a permanent one.

In addition to the body painting, there will be a number of clowns playing pranks and giving out balloons that, when popped, completely cover the surrounding 5 feet in glow-in-the-dark glitter that smells of your favorite scent. Each one will smell different depending on who is smelling it. What's more is the glitter actually dissolves after 12 hours, so you don't have to worry about it never getting out of anything. Amazing!

There are additional dance shows and parades going on through the town and near the sign-up area to draw people in, and little pop-up shops with merch you can buy to support the tournament-- cool t-shirts, sunglasses, hats, keychains, and more. Don't forget to download the Tournament Bets app so you can place money on your favorites to win and make bank! Maybe save some for the tavern afterward if things don't work out, though... or before you make any decisions, check out the castles' royal tea garden, beautifully decorated in a wide variety of wintery florals, which is set up and serving a delightful medley of teas with soothing effects. Just be careful-- each table has a magic grapevine that will communicate with another table, so you may end up hearing someone else's secrets on the grapevine... or just ending up with a fun conversation if you notice it before you say something you don't want to share.

As the tournament gets underway, it starts off with all of the multiview screens taking focus on the royal viewing box. In it stands a man that we have not yet seen before, but who stands with an air of dignity. He's wearing a suit, and a crown, and looks confident despite that he has many reasons to be hesitant- he is back from the dead, after all.

”"My name is Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. Many of you may have heard of me from your worlds I'm told, and many still may not have, but I will begin with an apology. I should have been there for those of you who arrived months ago and have been bravely pursuing this battle without leadership. I am afraid a few millennia of culture shock have thrown me off course and the Advent of the Kardashians in my studies has not helped these matters. But that is little excuse. From here on out, I will be with you in your journeys. Those who have questions of me, I will be offering an..."

Merlin's voice comes in off-camera to help him out, since he's still not sure on all the lingo, offering "AMA" to assist, then Arthur continues.

"An AMA to you all in the coming days. But for the time being, let us celebrate the wins and strides you all have made with a tournament. Those brave enough to enter, I hope to see you vying for knighthood and fighting alongside me in the days to come. For the love of Camelot!"

The video ends and the first tournament event begins. The categories and prizes are as follows:

Close-Quarters Melee (No Magic): Any non-projectile weapon is allowed. All combatants meet on a sand lot surrounded by stands. The last combatant standing wins. Prize: 500,000G; (Item) Enchanted Sword, courtesy of the royal blacksmith and permanently enchanted by Merlin (Winner can choose what kind of effect they want upon contact with blade! IC choice, but must be approved by mods)

Physical Healing: All physical wounds will be divided among healers. Participation in this event will yield monetary payment of 10,000G per person regardless of win, as it is an essential service. The first person to complete their patient load will win the competition. Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Protective Charm

Long-Range Firing Competition: Archers, gunsmen, slingshot, or any other projectile-firing weapons or magic may be used for precision aiming at long-distance targets, both still and moving. It is not permitted to fire at other competitors, but distracting, blocking, and otherwise creating interference with curses, shields, and so on is permitted. Causing injury to other competitors will result in disqualification. Prize: 50,000G; (Item) Locked-and-Loading Projectile Purse

Lunch: Lunch break! There are plenty of food stands available for anyone to purchase whatever food their heart desires, but for the competitive lot, there is a hot dog eating contest to participate in or enjoy. Let the ref know if you would prefer vegan hot dogs, as they are available. Prize: 20,000K; (Recipe) Instant Loperamide

Animal & Hypnotic Obstacle Course: This one is for the animal and cognitive users. Use animal magic to direct a blindfolded animal or hypnotized peer through an obstacle course. Whichever team finishes the course first is the winner. (No one will question whether or not the hypnotized participant is there willingly, but make sure you discuss OOC.) Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Enchanted Gold Rose

Dark & Light Submission: Dark magic users will be given instructions to utilize shadow magic to essentially swallow their light opponent into a vat of darkness and pull them into pitch-black dungeons underground. Light magic users are to utilize their light magic to overwhelm the shadows and prevent themselves from being pulled under. Light magic users are given intsructions to create hardlight bindings to stop their dark magic opponents from controlling the shadows. Whoever secures their opponent first wins. (Multiple winners.) Prize: 10,000G; (Potion) Countercurse

Alchemy & Kinetic Animated Battles: An alchemist and a kinetic user pair up to alchemize a warrior of their choosing. It can be made of any material you like-- stone, straw, brick, mud, steel, whatever, but it must be made to be mobile and armed as you please, as kinetic users will then be tasked with animating various parts of the body and fighting the alchemists's creations against each other. Prize: 50,000G to each member of the winning team; (Potion) Animatia

Single Element Knock-Out: Elemental magic users may select one element to fight with. Each magic user is given their own platform in a pool. The goal is to knock your opponents into the water. Note: The water of the pool is not usable in the competition; using the pool will result in disqualification. You can jump from platform to platform to avoid hits but leaving the pool area will result in disqualification. Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Glowstick

Magical Melee: Like the close-quarters free-for-all, any magic type may join in. All combatants meet on a sand lot surrounded by stands. The last mage standing wins. Prize: 500,000G; (Item) Channeling Staff

Anyone who participates will get the following: A big thank you, a free meal ticket redeemable at any food stand during lunch, and (Recipe) Cool Firework.

Reminder that players who want their character to win should sign up on the plotting post here. You can thread anything out on the log. Please sign up before 11:59pm on Friday 1/22. Results will be drawn live if we can figure out an easy way to do that and posted on Saturday.

[Gokudera would offer him some of the turkey leg. It’s roughly the side of his entire face, and now that he’s picked off some bigger chunks, he’s not even sure he can finish it on his own. He’s a fairly thin youth.]

Hm?

[He furrows his brow while listening thanks to a potion he took to dampen his hearing.]

Who is?

[Alas, simply asking for a share of someone's meal requires good faith and trust and the ability to take a refusal gracefully, none of which Hijikata has a lot of. He's totally standing in the way of his own good fortune here, but social situations just aren't his forte.]

That little skull.

[He points at it as it moves along Gokudera's collarbones and briefly disappears under his clothes.]

Did those elves curse it? Did you piss them off?

[He doesn't even know if they're elves, fae, fairies... it's all a blur to him. At least a better education about the local peoples is an item on his agenda, he just hasn't gotten around to it yet with so much other stuff going on.]

[Gokudera isn’t offering, but it wouldn’t take either of them to make Hijikata’s stomach growl. He’d notice and offer. Right now, though, he’s a bit distracted by the conversation and his struggle to understand it.]

The tattoo?

[He shakes his head.]

No. I may not have been very clear in my description.

[Gokudera isn’t eager to admit that, but it’s not like the skulls share things all the time. It’s just every so often they say something odd. It’s definitely not all truthful, but more a means to grab attention. They’re funny and cool at the same time.]

[Between how loudly Gokudera addressed him when he first arrived and him having to elaborate on the tattoo Hijikata is slowly figuring out that the boy is probably a little hard of hearing, so he makes a better effort to speak loudly and clearly.]

I hope it's not permanent?

[And there goes his stomach, growling like on command. Okay, this is embarrassing; he's really coming across as being in dire straits here... why is it harder for him to fit into a relatively normal world like Avalon than into Prismatica with its crazy moonblessing shenanigans? To be fair, they had a spectacular amount of permanent apartments for the new arrivals, so there was no sense of temporary housing to it, and it was so easy to generate Chroma and be affluent, even for a ~~socially stunted~~ reserved person like him. It's not like he has no marketable skills here, but he's far from the only capable swordsman around.]

[Gokudera notices the other seeming to speak more clearly to him, and he appreciates it.]

It is.

[That is a loud growl, and Gokudera’s taken aback before he offers up the leg and a napkin so that this man can take some. It’s clearly too big for someone like him to finish on his own.]

[He pulls off some meat and eats, trying to not completely wolf it down. Damn, it feels good to taste something warm and juicy and just different from the hotel breakfast. He still is pretty damn mortified to be taking part of a scrawny kid's meal, even if Gokudera probably really wouldn't be able to finish it. Is this how the annoying poor people he knows back home feel all the time?! Maybe he shouldn't have been so hard on them... but no, disregard that; they're jackasses.]

My condolences.

[For the tattoo, that is. It'll probably seriously impact Gokudera's job interviews and love confessions by sliding into view with some embarrassing reveals.]

No problem.

[This guy's stomach pretty much yelled at both of them. Who cares how much they do or don't want to talk to someone they've never met? Food is important, and that's that.]

The words aren't permanent, at least.

[Gokudera takes off another chunk of dark meat and then offers the rest of the leg to the man joining him.]

You going to compete in the tournaments?

[Well, that's something they can agree on. Shitty as Hijikata feels to be reduced to relying on the kindness of strangers, he still remembers his life before he became the vice commander of the Shinsengumi. He was living like a stray dog then, just some aggressive brat picking fights with anyone who could so much as wield a stick.]

Yeah. That prize money isn't anything to scoff at. I'll be in the close-quarters melee and the single element knock-out. You?

[He takes the offered turkey leg and systematically devours all meat left on it. They really are acting like two wild dogs or wolves sharing one kill, but hey, at least they are sharing and not fighting over it. While Hijikata doesn't remark on Gokudera's tattoo further he thinks that the words changing is actually worse than if they stayed in place. This kid got totally screwed over by those elves.]

[Gokudera has a remarkably similar past, except he got into the worst trouble on the streets when he was ten years-old. He's not an exceptionally nice person, but he's not just gonna let someone be hungry, especially if they aren't going to give him a hard time for smoking.]

I'm in it for the countercurse potion, mostly. I'm entering the light and dark submission tournament and the magical melee.

[At least the chattering, shit-talking tattoo is an amusing conversation starter. Gokudera isn't unhappy about it since it's not chattering anything important.]

[Birds of a feather flock together, even if they've got no clue about it... Hijikata similarly was on his own from 11 years old onwards. ~~Anime childhoods, right?!~~ He blinks in surprise at Gokudera's priorities and re-lights the cigarette he has put out while they were eating.]

The countercurse potion? What's that good for?

[Well, the name kind of says it all, so...]

You know someone who's been cursed?

[Gokudera lights up a fresh cigarette, enjoying it and looks over at his smoking companion with a lifted brow.]

I've been cursed.

[He answers it simply enough. The boy's just got some really bad luck, and maybe his attitude towards some pixies didn't help.]

Well, damn. Who'd curse a guy like you?

[Gokudera may look like a delinquent boy, but he's been nothing but nice to him! Okay, maybe he was a bit jerkish at the very start, but no more jerkish than Hijikata himself would be.]

If I win that potion I'll give it to you. What does the curse do? Or don't you want to say?

Some pixies I pissed off because they tried to hurt my boss.

[Grumble grumble. The pixies knocked into him and he stepped on his boss' foot. Not their fault, but enough to make him think it was. He's got some anger issues and instead of just yelling at them, he might have thrown some dynamite.]

I don't think anyone in the elemental tournament can win that potion, but thanks. It uh... no I can talk about it, but I'm not sure what sets it off. I have to hear something, so someone gave me a potion that muffles my hearing. [He's not raising his voice to much since he and Hijikata are sitting together.]

I hear something, and then I act like a dog. I don't remember doing it.

Pixies..

[He heaves a sigh. He vividly remembers the mischievous Dreamweaver pixies he encountered on Prismatica. So they have them here too... that's bad news.]

Good on you to protect your boss, but that's an extraordinarily shitty way of cursing someone. I'll be rooting for you in your competition.

[Back home Hijikata was once made to briefly act like a dog in public by some punk-ass terrorists who were keeping hostages, and that was already humiliating as hell, so he really feels for Gokudera.]

Yeah. They were casting circles you had to dance in, and I did. I participated in a couple, actually. No matter what, I just kept leaving cursed...

[Those pixies had it against him, he feels. Good thing Hijikata doesn't mention Lunatia. He's heard enough about it and is trying to steer clear of people from that world. He has no idea if anyone from there knows him or not. He has no memory of being there.]

Thanks. It is. All the other curses they put on people wore off after the solstice was over. At least I don't remember acting like a dog. I just keep coming to in front of holes in the ground.

[And some stolen, buried belongings...]

Thanks. Even if I don't win, I know a few people entering who'd sell me the potion if they win. [Gotta stay positive.]

[Lunatia was a pretty big city, and Hijikata never got to know all the other foreigners there. Since he and Gokudera didn't cross paths before he wouldn't assume that he's been there too - and even if he knew, half the people he recognises from there don't seem to remember it at all, so he's given up on bringing it up.]

I'm glad more people are willing to help you out, but... does this kind of stuff happen regularly around here?

[He doesn't need that!! At least his goddamn sadist subordinate Okita isn't here to record videos of him embarrassing himself, but even so! He just can't catch a break, can he?]

[It's good fortune that they never met, as Gokudera was in a sorry state most of his time on Lunatia. This Gokudera has no memory of such a world, and after having a run-in with someone all too eager to share their relationship, he worries about any other person from that planet.

Not that Hijikata has given him any reason to suspect anything. They're getting along well, all things considered.]

From what I gathered the night of the Winter Solstice, many people happened upon Pixie circles, and not all cursed. It seems that those who didn't make merry with those fae folk ended up cursed. Some curses were temporary. I was not so lucky.

[At least according to what he's heard from those people he was around when his curse had been triggered, he's a good dog, if over-eager to play and a bit disobedient.

There's a recording of him out there, he's sure. He wouldn't have put it past the baskerville, Lily... not that she'd meant much harm, he hopes.]

[Oh dear... that's an awkward situation for sure. Hijikata was lucky he tested the waters a little more carefully, otherwise a couple of people here would now be seriously weirded out by him. At this rate he'd rather have nobody find out what sort of lifestyle he got up to on that neon crystal world.]

They really are big on partipation here, huh. Dance or get cursed.

[Exactly what he doesn't like. Let him do his lone wolf thing!! (Never mind that he actually feels really out of his element without his pack of subordinates and his commander.)]

Look, I'm sure there's a cure for it, one way or another. If we can't get you that potion, then there's got to be a way to seek out the pixies and come to an agreement.

[Nothing like getting mortifying videos uploaded online!! One of Hijikata's moon-induced anger outbursts made it to PrismaTube back there. Not one of his proudest moments.]

[His lifestyle on that planet would not be weird, but would come across as self-indulgent. He’d told some people of his life in the mafia because in that planet, there was no mafia... no boss to keep safe. The same can’t be said for Camelot.]

The fae? Yeah. Now, I’ve just entered the tournament so my magic will get stronger, and by coincidence, my magic type rewards what I need. It has to be a sign of good fortune. I should sign up for shit like this more often.

[And it does no harm to befriend people who could help him.]

Ah well... I’m not despondent. I went to Celliwig to see if it could be helped.

[But instead of gaining audience with the fae, he found himself fighting someone who knew too much about his place in the Mafia.]
