Trumpets blow loudly to introduce the start of the tournament day. Everyone is invited to watch or participate. Those who would like to sign up need simply sign in for the competition they seek to join in on. Sign ups open at 8am, though you can sign up any time before the start of your competition category. There are different prizes listed for each category!
In the sign-up area before the tournaments begin, there will be a number of entertainment shows going on: Some of the fae who were invited are giving enchanted body paintings. Once the painting is finished, they will travel across your body like a living tattoo. Please be sure to specify if you would like it to be permanent or temporary, and exactly what you want-- especially if you want a permanent one.
In addition to the body painting, there will be a number of clowns playing pranks and giving out balloons that, when popped, completely cover the surrounding 5 feet in glow-in-the-dark glitter that smells of your favorite scent. Each one will smell different depending on who is smelling it. What's more is the glitter actually dissolves after 12 hours, so you don't have to worry about it never getting out of anything. Amazing!
There are additional dance shows and parades going on through the town and near the sign-up area to draw people in, and little pop-up shops with merch you can buy to support the tournament-- cool t-shirts, sunglasses, hats, keychains, and more. Don't forget to download the Tournament Bets app so you can place money on your favorites to win and make bank! Maybe save some for the tavern afterward if things don't work out, though... or before you make any decisions, check out the castles' royal tea garden, beautifully decorated in a wide variety of wintery florals, which is set up and serving a delightful medley of teas with soothing effects. Just be careful-- each table has a magic grapevine that will communicate with another table, so you may end up hearing someone else's secrets on the grapevine... or just ending up with a fun conversation if you notice it before you say something you don't want to share.
As the tournament gets underway, it starts off with all of the multiview screens taking focus on the royal viewing box. In it stands a man that we have not yet seen before, but who stands with an air of dignity. He's wearing a suit, and a crown, and looks confident despite that he has many reasons to be hesitant- he is back from the dead, after all.
 | ”"My name is Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. Many of you may have heard of me from your worlds I'm told, and many still may not have, but I will begin with an apology. I should have been there for those of you who arrived months ago and have been bravely pursuing this battle without leadership. I am afraid a few millennia of culture shock have thrown me off course and the Advent of the Kardashians in my studies has not helped these matters. But that is little excuse. From here on out, I will be with you in your journeys. Those who have questions of me, I will be offering an..."
Merlin's voice comes in off-camera to help him out, since he's still not sure on all the lingo, offering "AMA" to assist, then Arthur continues.
"An AMA to you all in the coming days. But for the time being, let us celebrate the wins and strides you all have made with a tournament. Those brave enough to enter, I hope to see you vying for knighthood and fighting alongside me in the days to come. For the love of Camelot!" |
The video ends and the first tournament event begins. The categories and prizes are as follows:Close-Quarters Melee (No Magic): Any non-projectile weapon is allowed. The way the sand hits stings even through the light, and blocks a great deal of it, scratching at his exposed arms and his eyes. Gokudera can only hold his shield up around him, all but cowering from the force of the sand beating him from too many directions.]

While Regis's mastery over air magic is a bit limited, he can at least attempt to blow this boy right off his feet before switching to the next element. There's always a slight pause in between his elemental phases, one that could be capitalized upon if the youth can get closer. However, Tontirus is proving to be some trouble since it keeps beating its wings at the youth in hopes of summoning more gusts of wind. ]

Larry will get a little more involved if Regis' familiar is doing the same. There are more bubbles appearing in the field, the air magic helping to clear sand out and create an environment where light penetrates readily.
The boy is simply being rolled about in a ball, and it's taking much more impact than his body. Gokudera closes his eyes and takes some deep breaths, feeling the heat from the light warm him. So what if the wind is too strong for him to stand? The gusts don't sting like the sand.
Each flap of those massive wings blows the bubble up larger, like one would exhale into a wand of soapy water. Gokudera shuts his eyes and the surface of the bubble twists about, creating a mirrored reflection of Tonitrus and Regis. The boy is still on the field, but hiding behind a large mirror that the wind only facilitates.
Larry surfaces through the sand behind Regis and tips his head this way and that, enjoying the reflection as though they're in a large carnival fun-house.]

This earns a sigh of frustration from Regis as he quickly calls for the howling winds to cease. His familiar leaps down beside him with a confused growl once they suddenly find themselves staring at their reflection.]
Another ploy, I see.
[Regis chuckles as he crosses his arms over his chest. Despite how fatigued he feels, the old king still has just enough stamina left to continue fighting. However, he will use this moment as a brief respite from this arduous battle.]
Clever. Once again, I'm humbled by how crafty you are.
[The second that Larry resurfaces, Tonitrus pivots around and lunges at the creature with its talons. Regis pays no heed to the vicious bird for now, clearly more intrigued with this bizarre form of magic before him.]

He’s lowering his hands from the bubble he’d started, catching his breath and trying to anticipate what Regis’ next move might be. Through the bubble, he can’t see that Larry might be bothering his opponent. The Lariosauro isn’t aggressive like the monstrous familiar Regis has, is just more playful and tricky.
When Tonitrus lunges, Larry bursts into feathers, so it will seem that the powerful beast has chased its own body. Then, he’s slithering into the sand again, and where there are grains thrown up, for a moment, it seems to break the appearance of the giant bubble.
It’s not as physical so much as it is acting like a curtain of light. Gokudera is trying to pack his hands together, build a ball of light to throw and blind his opponent momentarily.]

This has been an enthralling battle but I regret to announce this must end.
[While there’s no time limit per se, each match is allotted for thirty or so minutes tops. Fifteen minutes have already passed since the beginning of this match and the spectators are waiting for a thrilling finale.
While Regis feels the need to err on the side of caution, he still has one more ace up his sleeve. He places his hands on the back of Tonitrus’s neck and signals for the beast to take flight. Once airborne, Regis starts to channel his mana into his familiar causing the quetzalcoatl to glow with a bright blue aura. Little sparks of electricity gather all around the arena as Regis keeps siphoning more of his magic into Tonitrus.
This doesn't bold well, especially since the monster's eyes are starting to glow brightly.]

[Gokudera asks, though his familiar is nowhere to be seen. He can feel the creature’s presence, and can’t hear very well. If Regis has said anything, Gokudera’s unable to hear it.
He takes a few steps back, but the bubble he’s encased in holds and keeps him just as blind to everything outside it as it would keep Regis blind to everything inside of it. He can’t hide, though, and just has to keep the shield up, lending all of his magical energy into maintaining it.]

The Quetzalcoatl keeps unleashing lightning bolt after lightning bolt in fierce succession, each time striking the bubble over and over again with every intent on bursting it. The electrical discharge alone makes the air heavy with static as several little beads of electricity start to dot the arena. Tonitrus keeps up with the electrical barrage for a minute or so, fully intending to keep casting until its power is completely spent.
However, Tonitrus pauses briefly as it summoned the last lightning bolt. The fiend rears its head back and stretches out its wings wide to summon forth another bolt of lighting twice as powerful as the ones prior. Regis had the Stormsender in mind when he taught his familiar this move. A bright flash blinds the arena followed by a deafening boom as the last lightning bolt strikes the bubble leaving little fiery embers within its wake.
The thunderbird suddenly swoops down to the ground as it awaits for the smoke to clear. While Regis thinks victory might be his, it's a little too early to tell.]

And there's no reason for it to be weakened. Tonitrus casts shadow, but it is not as strong as the light around his sillhoutte in the sky. Gokudera's invisible to the crowds watching this battle, and it seems that the shield is absorbing the beams, the beads of electricity acting as much their own trap if the boy were to move.
When the thunderbird lands, the ground seems to quake beneath Gokudera, and he drops his shield, feeling safe and hidden amongst the smoke. Unfortunately, it's the last thing he sees as he slumps over, completely drained from his stubborn defense. Larry rises up from the sand to cover him, clamps a large wet mouth over his arm, then drops it to make sure the boy is out like a light, then slaps a webbed paw on the ground.
One!
Two!
Three!
Gokudera does not get up. Larry makes an odd gargling noise, then rests to watch on in case the healers need to rush in. The odd creature rolls about, belly pale and as much a white flag as it is capable of.]
