Trumpets blow loudly to introduce the start of the tournament day. Everyone is invited to watch or participate. Those who would like to sign up need simply sign in for the competition they seek to join in on. Sign ups open at 8am, though you can sign up any time before the start of your competition category. There are different prizes listed for each category!

In the sign-up area before the tournaments begin, there will be a number of entertainment shows going on: Some of the fae who were invited are giving enchanted body paintings. Once the painting is finished, they will travel across your body like a living tattoo. Please be sure to specify if you would like it to be permanent or temporary, and exactly what you want-- especially if you want a permanent one.

In addition to the body painting, there will be a number of clowns playing pranks and giving out balloons that, when popped, completely cover the surrounding 5 feet in glow-in-the-dark glitter that smells of your favorite scent. Each one will smell different depending on who is smelling it. What's more is the glitter actually dissolves after 12 hours, so you don't have to worry about it never getting out of anything. Amazing!

There are additional dance shows and parades going on through the town and near the sign-up area to draw people in, and little pop-up shops with merch you can buy to support the tournament-- cool t-shirts, sunglasses, hats, keychains, and more. Don't forget to download the Tournament Bets app so you can place money on your favorites to win and make bank! Maybe save some for the tavern afterward if things don't work out, though... or before you make any decisions, check out the castles' royal tea garden, beautifully decorated in a wide variety of wintery florals, which is set up and serving a delightful medley of teas with soothing effects. Just be careful-- each table has a magic grapevine that will communicate with another table, so you may end up hearing someone else's secrets on the grapevine... or just ending up with a fun conversation if you notice it before you say something you don't want to share.

As the tournament gets underway, it starts off with all of the multiview screens taking focus on the royal viewing box. In it stands a man that we have not yet seen before, but who stands with an air of dignity. He's wearing a suit, and a crown, and looks confident despite that he has many reasons to be hesitant- he is back from the dead, after all.

”"My name is Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. Many of you may have heard of me from your worlds I'm told, and many still may not have, but I will begin with an apology. I should have been there for those of you who arrived months ago and have been bravely pursuing this battle without leadership. I am afraid a few millennia of culture shock have thrown me off course and the Advent of the Kardashians in my studies has not helped these matters. But that is little excuse. From here on out, I will be with you in your journeys. Those who have questions of me, I will be offering an..."

Merlin's voice comes in off-camera to help him out, since he's still not sure on all the lingo, offering "AMA" to assist, then Arthur continues.

"An AMA to you all in the coming days. But for the time being, let us celebrate the wins and strides you all have made with a tournament. Those brave enough to enter, I hope to see you vying for knighthood and fighting alongside me in the days to come. For the love of Camelot!"

The video ends and the first tournament event begins. The categories and prizes are as follows:

Close-Quarters Melee (No Magic): Any non-projectile weapon is allowed. All combatants meet on a sand lot surrounded by stands. The last combatant standing wins. Prize: 500,000G; (Item) Enchanted Sword, courtesy of the royal blacksmith and permanently enchanted by Merlin (Winner can choose what kind of effect they want upon contact with blade! IC choice, but must be approved by mods)

Physical Healing: All physical wounds will be divided among healers. Participation in this event will yield monetary payment of 10,000G per person regardless of win, as it is an essential service. The first person to complete their patient load will win the competition. Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Protective Charm

Long-Range Firing Competition: Archers, gunsmen, slingshot, or any other projectile-firing weapons or magic may be used for precision aiming at long-distance targets, both still and moving. It is not permitted to fire at other competitors, but distracting, blocking, and otherwise creating interference with curses, shields, and so on is permitted. Causing injury to other competitors will result in disqualification. Prize: 50,000G; (Item) Locked-and-Loading Projectile Purse

Lunch: Lunch break! There are plenty of food stands available for anyone to purchase whatever food their heart desires, but for the competitive lot, there is a hot dog eating contest to participate in or enjoy. Let the ref know if you would prefer vegan hot dogs, as they are available. Prize: 20,000K; (Recipe) Instant Loperamide

Animal & Hypnotic Obstacle Course: This one is for the animal and cognitive users. Use animal magic to direct a blindfolded animal or hypnotized peer through an obstacle course. Whichever team finishes the course first is the winner. (No one will question whether or not the hypnotized participant is there willingly, but make sure you discuss OOC.) Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Enchanted Gold Rose

Dark & Light Submission: Dark magic users will be given instructions to utilize shadow magic to essentially swallow their light opponent into a vat of darkness and pull them into pitch-black dungeons underground. Light magic users are to utilize their light magic to overwhelm the shadows and prevent themselves from being pulled under. Light magic users are given intsructions to create hardlight bindings to stop their dark magic opponents from controlling the shadows. Whoever secures their opponent first wins. (Multiple winners.) Prize: 10,000G; (Potion) Countercurse

Alchemy & Kinetic Animated Battles: An alchemist and a kinetic user pair up to alchemize a warrior of their choosing. It can be made of any material you like-- stone, straw, brick, mud, steel, whatever, but it must be made to be mobile and armed as you please, as kinetic users will then be tasked with animating various parts of the body and fighting the alchemists's creations against each other. Prize: 50,000G to each member of the winning team; (Potion) Animatia

Single Element Knock-Out: Elemental magic users may select one element to fight with. Each magic user is given their own platform in a pool. The goal is to knock your opponents into the water. Note: The water of the pool is not usable in the competition; using the pool will result in disqualification. You can jump from platform to platform to avoid hits but leaving the pool area will result in disqualification. Prize: 50,000G; (Recipe) Glowstick

Magical Melee: Like the close-quarters free-for-all, any magic type may join in. All combatants meet on a sand lot surrounded by stands. The last mage standing wins. Prize: 500,000G; (Item) Channeling Staff

Anyone who participates will get the following: A big thank you, a free meal ticket redeemable at any food stand during lunch, and (Recipe) Cool Firework.

[ Her brow furrows a bit as she considers it herself. ]

I guess it is kind of a long while...

Oh nah, they usually let her be suuuuuuuper mean and catty. A real mean girl, you know? And she's usually always blonde, for some reason.

[ Stereotypes! ]

And they always make Hades the bad guy, for some reason. But when you read other stuff, he kind of just sounds like a pretty chilled out dude?

There sure is.

[He's glad he can be fairly self-sufficient as a swordsman, be it as a knight, mercenary, guard or whatever else Camelot may need. As a model Mukuro really depends on support from people with all sorts of different skillsets... well, the good news is that she brings pretty diverse skills to the table herself.]

Try not to worry too much. In the worst case scenario we can just keep questing. But you already started networking with the right people, so I see no need to be despondent.

[He briefly checks the time on his phone.]

I guess I should find the warm-up area before the melee. I'll look for you in the audience! Unless you find something better to do than watch us all bash our heads in, that is. No pressure.

[It probably won't get too brutal, but he wouldn't want her to feel guilty if she skipped all the sword-clanging to scout for designers or photographers on the fair grounds.]

... At least we're on agreement on that.

[ And hearing that does calm Maribelle down, for the most part. ]

As for you, it'll only be a moment before. However, I'd suggest taking it easy afterwards. In my realm, my magic could restore energy as well as take care of wounds, but here, you'll have to catch your breath on your own.

The future is nothing but possibilities.

[Aerith smiles brightly. He's right, of course. That too, sounds like something she'd say. It's nice to have someone else weigh in with a similar optimism.]

I couldn't really agree more. We have a whole different world to explore and discover. But it sounds like to me that you probably did something the same where you come from, too.

Obvious? No. Not really.

[Aerith was simply observant. Very in tune with people. Very empathetic. Not just with the planet, but with the people on the planet, too. Perhaps that came with being a Cetra. There was no reason for her to question it. Simply for her to use it to help others where she could.

I think that's normal. Many of us are in the same position. Far from home, never knowing when we'll get to see it again. But we're here together, so none of us truly alone. It's okay to miss home. I miss home a little bit, too.

[She missed the familiarity. She liked the adventure. She liked the discovery, but without a doubt, home was home. Tifa brought a sliver of it with her, but it still wasn't the same.]

You sound like you're famous.

[Aerith marvels at her appearance, unable to really imagine what it'd be like to be in magazine shoots. During the adventure that led her to Don Corneo's mansion, she'd never been dressed so fanciful and while it was a fun adventure, she can't really picture herself doing so more often. Definitely not on a regular basis.

Her thoughts move back onto moths and she nods along. Poetic, yes. Moths also tend to not know better and many times that attraction to light and fire end up their downfall. That's such a bittersweet notion, however.]

Would you say you're a bit like a moth, too?

[The way he phrased it was interesting. What was done to him. Yes, that was certainly one way of putting it. A little on the dark side of analysing the situation, but not everyone could be an optimist.]

I'm sure it'll come in handy, even if you haven't found a situation for that just yet. I bet as an animal you could get into all kinds of things that as a human we can't. But I could see how it might be troublesome. Magic requires a little practise, after all. You could turn into an animal at an inopportune moment, or get stuck and not be able to change back.

[ It seems that the Marshal recognizes the Founder from the features he shares with the Chosen (and, unknowingly, the Draconian). Somnus turns to face him fully, and it is perhaps then that he might also notices that the clasps upon his cloak depict their dynasty's chrysanthemum-star upon the polished gold.

Somnus angles his head, his voice ]

Marshal. [ His voice a touch firmer than before, carrying the familiar cadence of a military leader addressing a solider, as if to call them to attention. Whether or not he intends the tone is unknown, but by now, the inflection comes naturally to him. ] You speak with the first sovereign of Lucis.

...You don't think I'd try to steal yours, do you? I'm not that shady looking, am I?

[YOU KIND OF ARE, ZEL.]

Of course not. I would not insult my opponent in such a way.

[ A wry chuckle. The money would certainly be nice, especially with his friend's general lack of care about fiscal management. He has no desire to be turned into a shoebill again because Hythlodaeus felt the need to borrow money once more. ]

That said, I feel rather too old to be engaging in so much fighting. The prizes on top of the montary reward are quite enticing however...

[ He could do much with that staff, for instance. If only he had his own here. ]

Sure is! I never gave up back home either! And whenever I was close to it... I always had my friends to back me up. I may not have them here, but they're still with me in my heart, so I can keep on going.

Not that I'm aware of. This tournament seems to be the first time he's shown himself to the newcomers.

[Which is why he's such a curiosity, it seems. Claire hasn't directly tried to engage with him yet, but it's on her list, eventually.]

Dust straightened up, arms dropping back down to his sides as he dragged himself out of combat readiness. He'd been fighting so little lately that the adrenaline was a hell of a drug.

"You have a very different style than I'm used to." An invitation to explain more, as Dust wondered just what had resulted in his own attacks being more difficult to fend off than he would have expected.

That's not it at all. [Which is... very deliberately not an answer to his question.]

Rather, I'm more worried about what might happen if you — or some other potion brewer — becomes desperate. Even I might break these down if there was a great enough need.

[But still. She'd rather not!]

Wait, I haven't even tried any yet—!!

[She does hesitate a moment, under the mistaken assumption that this man will remember himself and stop. But no, he keeps right on pouring. And her mind races, wondering if she's really certain it's going to taste all right, and the steep price she had to pay the food truck, which was charging extra to squeeze some extra profits out of the tournament—]

[And so, yes, Allura does grab the basket holding the food, and pulls it out of the path of the waterfall of mayonnaise. But... alas. So much damage has already been done.]

[There's barely enough space at the edge for her to reach in and grab a dry end of a piece of chicken. And, even when she does manage to pull one out, some more of the mayonnaise slorps down through the opening and plops down onto the dry piece below.]

[And what's worse:] Ugh, it's getting all over my fingers...! Hang on, the food truck might has something to wipe it off...

[Additionally, this gives her a little time to stall, because she's no longer confident about giving it a taste test.]

I'm guessing a lot of people came here with abilities, huh... [ Blurting out comments like that was a bad idea, so instead of looking at his conversation partner he keeps his eyes on the tournament. ] But you're right, it isn't so bad. Maybe you could apply it to things you do at home.

Oh, I've got elemental magic. Fire, water, all that. It's neat really. And you?

Sounds good!

[ At this point he's been daydreaming about food too much that his stomach is begging for food at the moment. Seeing that it was the closest thing, he figures might as well and starts to head over. ]

They probably are, I'm guessing. Different world might mean different ways they raise their chickens and stuff like that.

[ What can she say to that, really? Aside from it not ever having been her fight outside of the support she could give in protecting everyone around her, this is far beyond something she can agree or disagree with.

In the end, what really matters right now is ensuring that the man before her who she's called friend is not in any more pain than he ought to be. But the fact that it continues to weigh on him so much, traumatizing him and hurting him... it's no wonder he continues to be so angry at everything.

Even if it doesn't justify his actions. So she simply hums a response, before sitting close enough for their shoulders to touch. ]

I don't think anyone expects you to.

[ It's Hydaelyn's chosen that cut him down, after all. ]

... but you're not where she is, now. You don't have to forgive her, but you shouldn't let her hurt you like this either, Hades.

It seems it...

[A pause. Something about Stella's expression was...]

...Hey, you okay? Sorry, sorry, didn't mean to like- make things all serious and crap.

...Thanks. I appreciate the support!

[She had a more genuine smile at that, but it clashed a bit with the cheese peace-sign she was pairing it with.]

Good plan. I need to go borrow a crossbow for the firing contest, then I'll come see you guys fight!

I wouldn't be so desperate for potions that I'd steal from a lady.

[Or at the very least, from a lady that doesn't deserve it. If Allura was an asshole, then all bets would be off.]

I wouldn't worry too much anyway, you probably won't run into any more pickpockets here than you would in any other city.

You could say that! It's hard work, but totally worth it.

[Famous, huh...well, maybe that was true of her sister. Still, she couldn't help but think Aerith was pretty. Sure, not glammed up in the way that she was at the moment, but she had a natural charm about her.

It was definitely a bittersweet notion, and one that she could certainly relate to.]

Well...that's at least fairly accurate. Except for the blonde part, I have no idea if that one is true, but she's certainly the type to twist people to her own will on a whim.

[Biases!]

People never liked speaking of Hades. After all, using his name might catch his attention, and as a God of the Underworld, that hardly seemed a sensible choice for prolonging your own life. It's easy to extend that logic to 'Hades is evil', if you don't want to think too hard about the culture at the time.

...Do I want to know what they said about Hecate?

[There was a strange wariness in her tone as she asked that one. After all, that was a Goddess she deeply respected.]

[ To her question about the climate, he nods; the winter weather suits him, really. Even summer in Faerghus was mild, the kind of weather you could enjoy outside without overheating, and before he knows it, he's feeling homesick once more.

That's simply a feeling he will have to grow used to, though he doesn't mind the break in the conversation once Lucy's tea arrives. Dimitri has tried a number of teas in his lifetime, but he hasn't seen one quite like this, that not only appears to their senses of taste and smell, but of sight as well. ]

I would not blame you. I had not expected to see an innovation of tea here, of all things, but this world is truly full of surprises.

[ At least this one is a lot easier to understand than, you know, most technology. ]

That being said, it would be a shame to let it go to waste.
