[Jean glances over at the assigned Archers who some seem very nervous, which isn't surprising. He gives them a reassuring smile and a nod that all they had to do is do the best they can. They'd be able to fight those that remained.

He looks back at the direction where the orcs would come from, seeing the first sight of them rising from behind the small hill.]

Ready... Now!

[The sounds of arrows fills the air.]

[Dimitri can hear the orcs' cries of surprise and pain before they fully emerge from the trees. The moment he sees them, he begins his advance.]

One more volley! Frontline fighters, with me!

[Dimitri doesn't run. He walks at a deliberate pace toward the orcs, waiting for the next volley of arrows to hit before he makes a full charge. The villagers assigned to Dimitri's command who are armed with various melee weapons -- be they clubs, lumber axes, spears, swords, or anything else -- fall in behind Dimitri and match his pace.]

The moment the next round of arrows strikes them, we charge. Remember, don't try to be a hero -- work as a team, know your limits, and fall back if you get hurt.

[The next volley of arrows sails over their heads. More orcs fall to the ground or take wounds from them.]

NOW! CHARGE!

[Of course Jean is part of the frontline fighters. What else would be be doing, really, in a situation like this. He sort of feels silly for not being the one giving most of the orders, considering he's the Knight here, but he also doesn't mind Dimitri taking most of the control.

Mostly because he thinks Dimitri's better for it anyway. He still has his doubts about being a Knight anyway.

Anyway, at Dimitri's words he charges towards the Orcs to start fighting them. He leaves the injured ones for the villagers and focuses on the ones that still have more energy left.]

[Dimitri, meanwhile, is more or less a one-man army. Any orc that comes at him gets cut down in seconds, even if they were perfectly healthy to start. Areadbhar never comes to a stop at any point as Dimitri fights, as he transitions his weapon from one strike or form to the next seamlessly. A few orcs with slingshots do score some hits on his armor, but it's strong enough to withstand them. Several others he blocks with his spear. Some of the orcs also try to coordinate group attacks, but even those only manage to briefly slow his constant advance.

There are a few who manage to avoid death from Dimitri's blade by the skin of their teeth, though. But they're all seriously wounded, and easy pickings for the villagers. Dimitri himself pays the ones he fails to kill no mind as a result.

Some of the attacking orcs ultimately decide they want nothing to do with Dimitri, and run from his advance. But they don't retreat, not yet; they're looking for other parts of the defense where they can try their luck.]

Hmph. Opportunistic cowards. Jean, stop them before they reach our flank!

[Jean had been dealing with orcs on his own side, using animal magic to dodge attacks and do some surprise attacks when possible.

When he hears Dimitri's call he transforms into a hawk to reach the orcs that need to be deal with as fast possible.]

On it!

[He lands as himself in front of the group and starts figting them, cutting them down.]
