Of Basilisks, Fear Gortas, and Magical Chaos (Open)
đ§ WHO: Harry and You
âď¸ď¸ WHAT: â of Life Alert, Alms for the Gore quest, The Floor is Lava, and Magical Flu Season
đ WHEN: November
đşď¸ WHERE: Various
â ď¸ WARNINGS: Aside from Basilisks (and Basilisk death mention) and mentions of childhood food deprivation, thereâs nothing else at the moment; will update this if something else comes up.
Not Seeing is Believing
(Oh great, just great. The Naiads had summoned a creature that he once encountered back in his world and he doesnât want to see it again. Ah Basilisks, why does it have to be the Basilisks?
The paralysis does really hurt as the expedition leader tells him and the rest of the group and Harry dreads to imagine going through what Hermione and the other students and staff in Hogwarts went through in his Second Year. He also couldâve sworn that he is shaking deep inside when he hears that a single Basilisk bite is that fatal to anyone, even if they didnât look at it directly in the eye. Though he is not showing any sign of dread as he tries to put up a brave face, turns to his partner and talks to them before they can put their blindfolds on and sneak past the Basilisk.)
I have to admit, this isnât my first time dealing with Basilisks. The last time I ran into one, I had to kill it with a sword before it could petrify me and two of my friends when I was 12. Hopefully we should avoid its gaze while we try to get to the other side.
A Cure on Cloud Nine
(Thankfully Harry, with his knowledge and previous experience with Basilisks, manages to survive the encounter, but there are also plenty of people in the group who are not so lucky in surviving the gaze of the basilisk. He honestly feels really sorry for them that he wants to help in searching for the Nimbus Flowers so Merlin can get the cure ready to heal the paralyzed immediately.
But searching through the forest and navigating the traps is going to be a tricky task, so he isnât too surprised to see a series of vine ropes, log traps, nets, and bear traps awaiting him and whoever is stuck with him.)
It looks like we need to get around those traps or possibly destroy them to get to the flowers and bring them back to Merlin. Now the question is: How can we get around those traps without getting hurt by them?
Alms for the Gore
Oh please help me, dear boy. Would you want to spare me and my friends some food? We havenât eaten anything in daysâŚ
Um, I, I, I⌠Iâll definitely try to help. There has to be some food nearby that I can give to you and your friends to eatâŚ
(How could Harry try not to help this poor fear gorta begging him for food in his and his friendsâ bowls? The quest giver has said to him that he needs to kill at least 10 of them, but he couldnât bear to end the fae and his friendsâ lives. This is not fair at all. These fae deserve a much better fate than to die by his hands.
Their hungry state has reminded him too much of the many times he was denied food for anything he did that his uncle and aunt deemed as not ânormalâ (or what they consider as ânormalâ), even if he tries to explain himself, growing up. Those memories are driving him crazy and they are begging him to just help them instead.
So he turns around, then runs to the first person he can find and asks them to help him out with the fear gorta.)
Hey! I could use some help right now. These guys over there need something to eat and I sadly donât have something in hand for them at the moment. Maybe we can team up to gather some food to put into their bowls.
The Floor is Lava
Well, that is something I wasnât expecting to see.
(Harry is just helping out in moving in some of the furniture when the lava begins to rise up and cover the floors and foundations. It honestly catches him by surprise when he spots some splotches of lavas appearing on the floor and slowly merging with each other to form a larger lava pool.
This forces him to climb onto a sofa quickly, not forgetting to pick up Rose with his hands as he climbs up. Hedwig finds some shelter onto a hat rack while hooting furiously at the mess left behind. The young man is left speechless as he stares at the whole scene and the lava in front of him. He also finds another person nearby and tries to call them to see if they can hear him.)
Oh, hi there. Listen, we have some lava overflow right now. There has to be a way to get all that lava out from this building. Got some ideas in mind on how to get that out of the way?
Magical Flu Season
(Oh dear, he is suddenly sneezing up a storm one morning while at work in Helleste CafĂŠ: cups and dishes are flying all over the place while some of the trees in the cafĂŠ accidentally catch fire.
Harry has no idea of how to cure it or even stop it from causing him too much grief. Rose ducks down as she witnesses Harryâs billionth sneeze causing the pantry door to open and close non-stop and some of the tree leaves to catch fire. Oh Merlin, he does need medical help for this. Please help this poor kinetic/elemental wizard out!)

The Floor is Lava
The young woman jumps on a kitchen counter faster than anyone could even try to say 'cat'. She's alone, her familiar is wherever they spend their time away from people and this was supposed to be a quick stop between everything else, that's she supposed to be doing instead of playing games here. Ugh.]
Really? I didn't even notice at all.
[... Okay, obvious sarcasm about the lava overflow isn't going to get her anywhere. But considering the other part what he says, well, Rin could have ideas but isn't that like that children's game or something?]
Huh? Well, that's one option for what we should do about it but... Seems more like some kind of sudden the Floor is Lava challenge by Merlin, who wants us to use our magic and whatever else to avoid touching any floors on our way anywhere.
[Is this really Merlin's doing? Rin has no idea but she wouldn't be surprised by that either after magical snowballs and everything else during her time here.]
no subject
(Could freezing up the lava in ice count as a good idea? He hasnât done something like this challenge before, but then again, he has been in Avalon for over a year now, so he shouldnât be this surprised by a lot of things these days.
Rose meanwhile squeaks in horror while staring at the lava, nervously shaking within Harryâs grasps.)
Magical Flu Season
Oh geez!
no subject
(To be honest, when he first came to work, he didnât think that he must have unwittingly caught it until the first few minutes upon entering. At first, it started as a small sneeze before it grew out of control like many people who caught the magical flu.
Harry doesnât want to scare everyone in the cafe with more uncontrollable sneeze-induced magic as he tries to suppress another sneeze, but it seems as if life isnât done with turning his life upside at any chance it gets.
Rose is still ducking for her life as she witnesses some of the cafe patrons who also got the flu sneezing up various magical effects at random.)
no subject
Maybe you should head home for the day.
no subject
(Rose barely lets out a squeak as she narrowly avoids having a snowball to the face, running away from it as fast as she can when it finally hits the wall where one of the sinks are at.)
no subject
...I think they'll have a pretty good idea.
no subject
Oh wow, it looks like that Iâm not only one who has caught it as well: even some of the customers have it too, from the looks of things. This is getting really chaotic in here today.
no subject
[ Not only because sick patrons could potentially pass the flu on to others, but also the cafe might not survive with so much random magic happening at once. ]
no subject
(Yep, the whole cafe has taken a lot of beatings from the sneeze-induced magic while Harry meanwhile is trying not to let the sneezes get the best of him, resisting the urge to sneeze and spreading the flu everywhere.
Rose is barely letting out more squeaks after that snowball incident, she is so frazzled by the whole flu spreading that it literally scares her.)
I am also noticing that Rose is getting freaked out by the situation right now.
no subject
[ She turns as another patron sneezes, setting the tablecloth on fire. Amy sighs, pinching between her eyes before turning to Harry. ]
All right, you go home. I'm gonna talk to the owners and see if we can start asking people to leave.
no subject
(Rose then teleports herself into his pocket while remaining unusually quiet over the whole thing as he grabs his stuff and he heads out to the main doors to the cafe.)
See you real soon once I get better, Amy.
(And just when he has opened the doors to take a medical leave, he unwittingly sneezes outside, causing an unintended thunder to singe a tree nearby. He really needs to be better at not sneezing all the time.)
Okay⌠That was unexpected.
no subject
[ She's just a little distracted with calming things down in the cafĂŠ, so the sound of thunder causes her to jump a little. Glancing out and seeing the tree that is now on fire, she sighs a bit. ]
...I've got it.
[ Lily is already getting a container filled with some water to put it out. ]
no subject
Hopefully the flu season will pass and everyone doesnât accidentally sneeze magical chaos everywhere by next month.)
