[It isn't a huge surprise that Hawk would want in on this quest after their defeat. The dragon defeating them doesn't mean that what it did should go unpunished. It is clearly a dangerous creature that cannot be allowed to live.

So Hawk definitely isn't going to go and warn or try to play nice with the dragon. This is a hunt with the intention to kill the beast and enjoy the fruits of their kill. He reached out to Yuber because while the murderous tendencies of the demon bother him sometimes, Hawk knows very well that Yuber won't be the type to want to play nice and let the dragon go. Too many people here don't seem to understand that you can just let something dangerous go and hope for the best.

It was a lengthy enough trip to the Lotus Pod Mountain and then on top of that they had to find an entrance that the dragon may have used. Along they way they picked up a third when they ran into Takkar and since he didn't object to a hunt with the intention of killing their prey, he was a welcome addition even if unknown.

Hawk went ahead and flew around the mountain itself to try and find a likely entrance from above. Once he's found one he comes back so they can plan a route to that spot.]

All right so I found an entrance that looks like a dragon could fit in. You both ready to start this dragon hunt?

[Yuber waits leaning against a tree with his arms folded across his broad his chest as Hawk flies off in search of a way in. His mismatched flick towards Takkar briefly, looking the other man over in an attempt to appraise his use in combat.

Once Hawk lands a cold, snake-like grin crosses his face.]

It will be a shame to slay a beast that creates such beautiful discord.

[He snorts and reaches up to adjust his hat.]

But it escaped my swords once already. I won't let it get away again. This will be great.

[As they waited he took stock of what he had on himself. Adjusting the bulky club on his belt, spears and arrows at the ready, knife strapped to his makeshift, hide belt. All made from plants, stone, and animal materials. At the very least Takkar would look like the resourceful sort.

He had a notion of what a dragon is, though he didn't know exactly what it is. Near as he knew it was giant, winged creature that destroyed a large settlement and needed to be hunted.

It was honestly just a random happenstance that he eventually ran into the two he had. Not really thinking much about it,, he joined the posse. Once Hawk arrived back, he put away an arrowshaft he'd been working on during the wait.]

I'm ready.

[He grunted, short and sweet. Not really having much to say or add.]

[[Hawk points down a path that heads in the direction of the entrance he found. Definitely a bit overgrown and hasn't been used by humans for a time, but all the better because it was unlikely the dragon would go hide somewhere it would be easily found in.]

That seems to be the closest thing to a path. Clears up a bit as we get closer but it should be doable even without flight to get to the entrance.

[Then he looks towards Yuber.]

I don't plan to either. No bleeding hearts who think it should be spared this time. Wonder how dragon meat tastes?

[He'll go ahead and start on the path keeping an eye out for any tracks or signs of wildlife. They can chat about great ways to cook dragon on the way up.]

[Yuber follows behind Hawk.]

I wouldn't know.

[He's never known much about food.]

But I can think of more interesting ways to use its remains.

[He looks at the path before them, over grown. Then towards their surroundings for tracks of animals. Droppings and the like. Anything that might be considered fresh signs of animals. Would a giant reptile be able to fit inside there without disturbing any of foiliage? Maybe.

It sounds like the things has some sort of sentience, which is honestly kind of frightening for him. Well, no need to get worried over right now. The two he was with seemed to be rather confident about the whole thing, so perhaps it wouldn't be too much of a challenge?]

Hm, reptile taste like... unique? Like gwaw... cow. And chicken... kanan. Best roasted, good with nuts. [He thinks a moment longer, using his club to clear away the thicker foliage gently. Still keeping an eye on any recent animal marks.]

Skin make good clothing, rope for tool. Bone and tooth have many uses. Tool, weapon, jewelry, needle, instrument, can be traded. Can be useful.

[What led Hawk to picking this spot was that he saw a lack of animals, potentially that they had been scared off by something recently. Usually he's the one scaring off the birds, but they had already left. Down on the ground there's definitely signs animals lived here and also signs that some have abandoned the area. It could be migration, or it could be fear of a predator.]

Never tried roasting meat with nuts. I'll have to remember that. I admit, not sure if I plan on keeping what we can get from the corpse for myself or selling to the highest bidder.

[Yuber looks sidelong at Hawk.]

Tsk!

I for one intend to keep some bones. Imagine what I could do with them...

[Excellent! That had been his main concern going forward. Of course, there can always be something else occupying the cave. Like a bear.

He really hopes there aren't any bears in this region. A giant lizard? Sure. A bear? Nope.]

Mm, bone is useful.

[He agreed before another thought struck.]

What of the cave stone?

[Hawk personally would hope any bears are already hibernating by now and won't be able to bother them. But looks like they are getting close to the mines themselves now. Looks like they are going to need light. Good thing Hawk's got elemental magic. He'll go ahead and cast a spell to make a ball of fire that floats by him and can be moved to wherever he wishes it via a combo of elemental and kinetic.

And then he's going to look over at Yuber.]

Wasn't an incomplete skeleton weak? Or is it a matter of the quality of the bones?

[And then over at Takkar.] Depends on the stones and what you're looking for. Bet we'll find some with the dragon. They do love hoarding gems and gold.

I wasn't thinking of reanimating the beast.

As the big one says, "bone is useful".

[He grins.]

I can think of a few spells from back home that would use dragon bone as a powerful reagent. I'm sure I can discover such spells here as well.

[Then he hums thoughtfully and looks over at Takkar.]

Stones also make potent reagents.

[Why sell what they can use to grow their magic? He doesn't know, but he's never really understood the whole "money" thing.]

Mm... maybe not stone... crystal?

[That was the word that was used, right? From the basic gist that he got of the place it was once used to mine out precious minerals and materials. He was a bit more interested in finding those precious materials and seeing what could be done with them than anything.

He himself can wrap his head around money to an extent. The idea of trading valuables isn't anything new to him. What is new is the notion of a set price as opposed to simply bartering things for other things.]

Reagents? Like medicine... drug?

[Of course Hawk owning a shop that sells such things is part of why he's considering such a thing. Some things he gets he'll use for himself, but he can't use everything and may as well benefit from the fact that others will pay for shit he doesn't need.]

Not just medicines. There's also potions and recipes for magical items that have various effects besides healing. [Though knowing Yuber, he's probably thinking of something that kills or creates chaos, but Hawk's just going to keep that to himself.] Also some crystals that can enhance magical ability.

[Hawk joined up on the mission to clear the Forest of the Felled. Sounded fun and maybe he'd find some good materials to gather. When he heard there was a basilisk hanging about, he definitely was wondering if it would be possible to get close enough to get some venom or even to kill it. Something that dangerous likely would be worth a lot and he's not the sort to avoid danger.]

Why avoid the thing when we might be able to kill it from a long enough range? We gotta clear the traps and that thing is clearly a dangerous one.

Do you have a plan for killing it from long range?

[Gaius' has been gaining skill in elemental magic but not enough to outright slay anything. However, he's learned a few things in helping out other people. Mainly experimenting with combining magical powers.]

You ever tried making knives out of wind and lightning? Just as effective as real knives except you don't have to retrieve them later.

[And to show what he's speaking of, Hawk creates one and has it floating beside him.]

Or could just do the traditional fireball if you're into grilled snake.

[Just the way that Gaius head tilts to look at Hawk's example is enough that no, he hasn't tried that exactly.]

I boosted someone's firepower with wind once. I can do a bit with earth.

[Fire and water have been the most difficult to control.]
