[Souma, standing close by with his familiar Kokuryuu alongside him, nods and salutes his teammates formally with his left hand covering his right fist to show his people's gesture for peace. He runs one hand along Kokuryuu's back. The uwabami-- demon snake-- has enlarged himself until his head is the size of a horse's. Since they are setting out on a journey, the snake figures he may as well be the size he used to be most often as Souma's shadow. Because he is now so large, Souma has saddled the snake with the team's supplies. Kokuryuu is a constrictor, most closely resembling a black python. His shiny, sleek scales are pure black, and his eyes are bright gold with slitted pupils, just like Souma's. Kokuryuu looks around with interest at everything in their surroundings, and his blunt-nosed face and lidless eyes seem much more expressive than they really should be. He often tries to catch the eye of the other party members and preen or bob his head or nudge with his snub nose to get attention.
In contrast, Souma seems content to not have attention. He hangs back, listening to the others and bringing up the rear as he carefully covers their tracks. He is dressed in his people's warrior garb, black clothing tied close at the wrists and ankles for ease of movement. The long back part of his mess of wavy dark hair is tied back with a dark blue strip of cloth. He wears his two swords on his right hip, and his bow and arrows on his back. His other small projectiles are hidden in special pockets inside his sleeves and the pouches built into his pants. The labradorite and black tourmaline prayer bracelet around his left wrist is helping him to feel grounded and calm, at one with his surroundings. Even if this place is foreign to him, for a creature of a sacred forest like him, there is something deeply comforting about being in wilderness. It feels like an old friend]

[Minato didnβt seemingly bring any weapons, but he had mastered a somewhat crude blade with his blood that he could create if need be. He hadnβt been too certain of what to bring, aside from his weapons and magic. Kuro, his church grim, padded along beside him. Every so often, he booped Kokuryuu right back with his nose. A big dog surrounded by death though he may be, he was still ultimately a dog.]
So, is the plan really to try and talk to the dragon instead of fighting it? [He sounded a little doubtful but he wasnβt protesting.] You think itβll work?
[ Razor looked earnest. He doesn't say much along the way. He's not a talkative guy, and he's better with animals than people. But he is sincerely trying to do it with them. They're nice, he figures, if they're willing to at least give this a try, right? That's what matters most - trying. ]
Want to...try. Can fight if have to... but want to try.
[ Wolf, his - well, wolf - hung back. He stayed a few feet behind everyone taking up rear guard. ]
I do not know if dragons here are like the ones in my world.
But... I think it worth a try, Sir Minato.
In my world, humans slayed all of the great magical beasts. For m-m-mil...len-- [He pauses, tongue stuck, and has to choose a new word.] thousands of years.
Humans just... never... think ahead. They think about right now. [He looks to the others for confirmation, because in his (biased) culture as a yokai, the not-thinking of humans is considered common knowledge and no surprise. It's said a bit in the way that women being sexist might say "ugh, husbands, they just don't do things right" and expect the other women in the room to groan or roll eyes in agreement.]
Those great creatures are part of nature in ways humans like to think they are not. My world became poisoned and barren because of this. I do not wish for King Arthur and his humans to go the same road.
Humans think ahead, just not always for the right reasons. Just as they sometimes don't think ahead. We aren't long lived like the other folk here or like you. Sometimes thinking about getting through the day to make it to the next is all you can do.
[They played the long game to bring about the end of the world where he was from, so he couldn't agree that all humans never thought ahead. But different worlds had different people and ideologies so he wasn't going to really argue against it either.]
The dragon destroyed a lot, it's natural for humans to want to defend and get rid of the perceived problem. If the dragon can be reasoned with, that's all well and good though so I'm not against the plan.
[He just isn't sure it will work, given what the dragon did only recently.]
[ Razor doesn't understand, which isn't a total surprise. He doesn't understand a lot of things. But he knows he doesn't want to take any part in killing a dragon if they can help it. He believes they can help it so far. Therefore, he's going to do it. Or at least try. ]
Humans do - the best we can. Want to do the best we can today, too.
[ He looks towards the others. He seems confident in his response. He doesn't need anyone else to believe what he said. He just believes that. ]
Hopeful.
[ He brings his hand to his chest. He is - he's optimistic. ]
[Minato tilted his head at that. Was it the Universe Arcana he held that gave him that vibe? He was certain that power had been nullified upon arrival here, just like his Personas.]
I guess I'll take that as a compliment then but... what makes you say that?
[Could he sense the Personas and his Arcana anyway? If he could, then perhaps there was hope for him yet.]
[ He's careful to point out and inform the other of this fact, if only because it's true. If it looks like he's trying to understand something, that's exactly why he's doing it. ]

Ah. I...
[He looks at the other two closely now, inwardly scolding himself.]
Forgive me. I spoke unkindly. I... thought for sure that you were both yokai. Especially Master Razor.
[He indicates Minato with a polite nod of his head.]
I... you give off an air of otherworldly abilities or... wisdom. Like a lore-keeper from the Kasumi tribe. They are very... smart.

Nn... hn. You just...
[He drifts off, thinking carefully. Presently, he seems to have an idea. He lifts one finger and leans in like it's a big secret.]
General facial expression. You always look like you are... learning. When I see you.

Don't -- family is wolf at home. Razor is human.
[ He's careful to point that out. ]
