The Day Before

Anyone looking to reach out to Gokudera before his procedure can contact him through his IC inbox or in here to wish him luck or... offer any possible last words for him if they suspect he may need them.

Gokudera's pretty certain he isn't going to die, doesn't want to, and will openly say as much with a smile in order to make himself and anyone he talks to feel better. He will spend the day before the procedure keeping to himself, trying not to alert anyone of any possible upset. He'll seem ruminative and fairly aloof and avoidant when it comes to feelings unless anyone calls him on his bullshit.

For those looking to simply talk to him about this, now would be their best chance. Gokudera has only really informed his boss of everything, and even his best friends aren't contacted. Sorry, but he's trying to keep the worrying for everyone to a minimum.

Maybe he needs to be distracted before the big day! Be the one to distract or offer a kind word! Or... not!

The Day of...

The only people allowed to be in the room of the procedure are Emet-Selch, Dr. Kimishima, Midoriya, Ochako, and Gokudera (obviously). There are people Gokudera would like to see directly after, to announce the successful removal of his collar, or if things turn out badly, would like them to know about his death. In an effort to keep the clinic free of a crowd of close friends, that lobby may only be occupied by Tsuna (or Midoriya as well if he can't get his nerves straight). The preparation for this is probably going to take longer than the procedure itself. This is the time for high nerves and lots of anxious sweating about everything.

The Procedure

Here's the plan:

- Ochako uses kinetic magic to keep the collar in place
- Gokudera uses the Mini potion to shrink himself
- Gokudera falls/shrinks out of the collar's range
- Ochako then uses her magic to move the collar into a lock-box (gotta keep other necks, fingers, wrists or whatever safe from the collar)

There's a lot that COULD go wrong but to anyone who knows Gokudera or what he's been through... this is going to go smooth because it's about time something went well for him.

The Freedom! AKA: Gokudera Independence Day (I'll see myself out)

Gokudera is roughly four inches tall and will stay that way for a few hours. He's FREE! Finally! Consider you get a text message saying the procedure was a success! He'll be celebrating later but hasn't actually planned anything out.

If you didn't get a text from him, you could have gotten a text from anyone involved. Maybe you even got sent a picture of a tiny!Gokudera with no collar around his neck. Blow his phone up with congratulation texts! Show up at the clinic (Naomi may not like that), but hey it's good news! React however you want! Just have fun!

Celebration???

Gokudera has been turned into a chibi. So, this isn't going completely in the wrong direction.

"To be dead." He clarifies, then glances at Midoriya.

"Yeah. I'm familiar with everyone here. It was actually Midoriya's idea to do this."

"Ah, of course. You did nearly die when you drank the 'poisoned' chalice, didn't you?" Emet-Selch sighs. His potion worked a little too well. How foolish of him to think that it would not be used for harmful purposes.

His eyes linger on the green-haired boy. "One cannot fault his optimism. I wish I could share in the sentiment." But he quickly offers Gokudera a thin smile. "Not that I expect my potion to fail, mind you."

“I meant my real death!” Gokudera barks back. “Your potion was just a reminder of it and now… this” And honestly, the potion and his possible decapitation would be preferred over how he died back in Anchor. It would be quick, at least.

He’s pouting, watching Emet look at Midoriya, then hangs his head softly, wondering just how the hero stays so positive. He’s nervous, though, Gokudera can see that clearly.

“I would hope not!”

Could he, as a ghost, gather more pixie dust to aid in Emet-Selch making a new shrinking potion? Here’s hoping he won’t have to find out.

He allows a small chuckle to escape. Emet-Selch isn't the type of person most would expect comfort or reassurance from, and accordingly he doesn't offer either. Why pretend? One ought to considers the risks of any undertaking.

But...it also wouldn't do for the boy to panic.

"I presume you trust each and every individual here. So trust them to play their parts as you play yours."

“Of course I do.”

He’s pouting at Emet, because this man is only here in case the potion should mess up, or… if he were to die, maybe? Gokudera owes him a great deal, but the last of reassurance isn’t super comforting. Most may not expect it, but Gokudera does. Who knows why.

He nods. Glancing over to another, brown-haired boy, he tips his chin in their direction.

"So, he is your superior? You both seem rather...young, for such hierarchy."

“He is.”

Gokudera nods gently, crosses his arms and gives a soft hum. “We are. I’m around sixteen, and he may be closer to around fifteen…”

He hums. "Barely across the threshold of adulthood for a mortal then. What was it that he led you in again...?"

“Tch-!” Gokudera gives a little huff, but… Emet isn’t wrong.

“A school sport club. He’s going to be the Tenth generation president of it. Competition is steep.” Gokudera stays with a very serious face. He is committed to this unbelievable act until told he can stop.

Incredible as it sounds, if even this serious boy is claiming to belong to a competitive sports group then...perhaps it really is true? Emet-Selch finds the idea bordering on the ridiculous but he would like to think this one wouldn't lie to him...

"Indeed? That is quite the expectation to lay upon his shoulders - and at such a young age as well. You are barely grown as I recall."

IT IS RIDICULOUS.

And Gokudera wonders why he should be honest or keep up his lie for the Tenth. Can he trust Emet-Selch? He should. But… he’ll need to discuss it with the Tenth.

He nods, “I owe him my life and my unending loyalty. We aren’t a normal school sports club… We’re he most powerful in the world.”

"'Most powerful'...?"

That is quite the bold claim. He takes another look at the purported leader of this powerful sports club. Try as he might, he cannot see it.

"That boy? Really?"

“The most powerful sports club.”

Yeah, it feels like a lie because it is one, and Gokudera’s looking off thoughtfully. His eyes land on his boss and he’s smiling with pride.

“That’s part of his strength, I think. The Tenth is easy to underestimate, and rarely uses his full power unless it is absolutely necessary.”

His eyes are maybe a little glassy. He’s deeply appreciative of his boss.

Gokudera's fealty then is unquestionable. But such sentiments are more likely heard from vassals to lords or some such. Not...a mere gathering of sportsmen.

The mystery grows deeper by the moment.

"Pardon me for not quite taking your word for it, but that boy does not look as though he harbours any great power," he comments.

“In a place like this, where we no longer have our powers, I know it must be hard to believe. Even before we had any kind of magic or special abilities, the Tenth’s strength of character is stronger than any I’ve met.

You’d just be another sorry person to underestimate him.”

Your loss, Emet-Selch. The Tenth is incredible and no one can convince Gokudera otherwise. He was the first person to actually show the bomber that his life was worth saving, and the reason he’s still trying to this day to improve himself. Mafia or not, Tsuna’s powers is truly hard to see, but once it is, it’s blindingly bright.
