Hallows Eve Charity Concert - Open Mingle

Everyone is welcome to write about any of the prompts, of course, even if you're just watching the show happen in the audience. The log is free for all.


Preparations (October 25th - October 30th)

The final week before the concert is a rather busy one. Props are getting worked on, final decorations are put to place, practice hours have been booked for everyone who needs space to practice their performance (or just wants to practice in the actual stage the performance would be held in) and meals and beverages are being brought in for the backstage and both of the parties.

Anyone who has offered their help has been welcomed with open arms, but none of the performers are forced to help with the preparations.

Come help out with whatever you can or want, practice your performance or just bring in some refreshments ot those working on the concert. Of course, distractions aren't forbidden either...


The pre-party

Before the actual concert there is a pre-party. A Halloween party one could say. There are various goods you can purchase (mostly food and drinks, some CD's or tickets to theaters). There are even Halloween decorations and costumes one can buy should they want to get festive. All profit will go to charity to help with the rebuilding efforts in Celliwig and Lestari.


The Concert itself

The party starts around 6PM with lights going out and candles being lit around the concert hall. Ren gives a speech on stage, dressed up as a devil with both wings and horns. He thanks everyone for coming and hopes everyone will enjoy the concert to their fullest.

With a snap of his fingers the candles die out and stage lights for the first perfomance of the night light up. The concert starts.

At at the middle of the concert there is an "Open mic" event where anyone can walk up to stage and sing or tell jokes or whatever they wish to do. The open mic event lasts for an hour to give performers time to rest or prepare, if they have more than one performance.


The afterparty / Cleanup

The afterparty is a chill party for people who want to come greet anyone who performed on stage or just want to continue in the same atmosphere. No one is forced to stay around if they want to head back home to sleep, but anyone is welcome to stay as long as they like.

Next morning the cleanup crew will be putting the theater back to normal. Again, none of the performers are forced to help, but help will always be appreciated.

[The Party]

[Oh Arlo is all over this. He's never celebrated Halloween before, but dressing up, candy, and he can sing? He gets all dressed up in a vampire costume (he tried wearing plastic fangs, but when you have real fangs they don't fit very well) and can be found trying out different food and candy, and then he gets settled in for the concert. If your sitting next to him, he nudges you and whispers.]

This is the best party I've ever been to! Well, it's the only party I've been to - that I was actually in, that is.

[And when it's time for open mic night, Arlo zooms up to the stage. He sings a spooky but upbeat song about all he knows about Halloween.]

[After Party]

[After the party, let's just say Arlo has had a looooot of sugar. His eyes are wide, almost sparkling as he looks at whoever walks up to him.]

Why did no one tell me candy was this good?!

After Party

[Yes, vampire bros! Crow is also dressed as a vampire, so Arlo has good taste. He sees the alligator boy hyped on sugar, and it's kind of an amazing sight to see.]

Huh? You've never had candy before?! Have you been living under a rock?! Have you had the candy corn? Chocolate candy bars? Candied apples?

Harry Potter | Harry Potter series (OTA)

Concert Performance
(Getting to be in the concert has been quite rewarding for him. For one, it gives Harry an outlet for the energy that might have been funneled into moping and feeling guilty over the events of the Fall Equinox to pour into his participation. Sure, it was difficult for him to keep his morale up for the last few weeks, but he managed to buckle down and just did his usual things and concert practice for the most part and keep his mind busy from moping a lot.

And all of the practice have led to this: the moment to sing to a large crowd of people. He did had some troubles in finding a costume to perform in, but thanks to the help from his Celliwigan roommate (who happens to be a talented costumer), he is able to come up with a loose interpretation of Robin Hood: hunter green hooded cape draped over his shoulders, white long sleeve shirt, cuffed blue pants and a pair of brown riding boots.

When he hears that it is his turn to perform, Harry steps out of the backstage from the curtains and notices the people looking at him in anticipation and curiosity. Taking a deep breath as he takes the microphone out of the stand, he begins to pour his heart out as he begins to sing to the audience.

Despite his concerns, they are having a great time enjoying his performance. Honestly, Harry is quite swamped by the cheers and he is in a loss of words right now.)

Afterparty
(Now with the performances done, Harry has some time to unwind and chat with some of the people involved in the concert and audience members. He is at the moment sipping on a fruity sangria and chatting to the first person he sees and meets.)

I have to admit, I was very nervous upon entering the stage. But I never thought that a lot of people would actually enjoy my singing this much.

[it seems appropriate to make herself more accessible to the other outworlders than simply a sign in the office window. she's the ambassador, right?

it's why she's come in some finery that seems more at home for an opera than what follows...but can she be blamed? she didn't exactly research the full program beforehand!

so she's overdressed. so what! it helps her stand out in the midst of this little soiree prior to being seated for shows. she stations herself somewhere quite open and easily navigable, sipping on a glass of spiced wine, her eyes scanning the movements of others with a scrutiny that belies her real intention to be approachable. resting half-elf bitch face, alas...]

Well done. [she can still be polite and commend the efforts of those who braved the stage and performed. so she is!] Are you quite pleased with your performance?

[that aside, she does much what she did at the preparty to make herself approachable should interest draw others her way.

...this time, at least, with some considerable distance with more noisy clusters of folk; her ears are still ringing a bit.]

[Cecelia really stands out in the cool blue gown, her skin and hair a warm contrast to the flowing fabric. Hijikata can't let her stand there among the casuals all on her own; he approaches dressed in his usual black-and-gold uniform.]

Good evening, Lady Ardenbury. Did you enjoy yourself?

[Oh man. She really does stand out. Kadoc, for his part, tends to do his best to blend in . . . but he's come a long way since the Valentine's Day concert, which had been a very similar event and had happened only a couple weeks after he'd arrived. Back then, he'd made very certain to shrink away into the corners wherever he could. Tonight, he's feeling more social, and he can't turn down talking to Cecelia, especially when she's all . . . resplendent. It's both impressive and humorous. So he makes his way over to her, holding a drink of his own, which he's barely touched yet.]

Hey. . . . You were expecting a different kinda show, huh? Not that this one had any consistent theme anyway.

[ Minako's performance during the concert is hard to miss, considering the sheer amount of energy she seems to be using for it, along with her own little customized light magic light show. She really thought about how this performance would look and sound the best, okay!

She's also making sure to interact with the crowd, waving and smiling - and when she's singing 'If you feel lonely, come to me right away' you might just notice her looking into your eyes and winking after she's saying it.

Obviously there's no real way to interact with her during the concert.. but if you're still around after it, it's easy enough to notice Minako running around, still in her little witch Halloween costume.

Regardless of whether she knows someone or not, she will run up to them with a big smile all the same. ]

So, so? Did you see me up there? Wasn't it great?

[ Monika had been there for Minako's performance. When Minako ran up to her, she clapped excitedly and nodded. It was her first time seeing her on the stage, and she really had a gift for it. Of course, she wasn't the best judge seeing how in spite of her interest in music, Monika had never really attended anything like that before. So she really didn't have any references to compare Minako's performance to.

But even so— ]

You were absolutely amazing!

[ Hopefully she hadn't winked at Monika when singing "If you feel lonely, come to me right away" because she's one of those persons who may misinterpret the meaning. ]

The singing, the lights, even the way you behaved— It felt like a professional performance from beginning to end.

Yeah, ya did great up there.

[He'd stuck around just to see what others had been up to. In truth Beowulf himself hadn't been expecting to enjoy himself all that much here. Really helps that others are also enjoying themselves as well.]

Glad to see that you've still got energy to spare too.

[ If there's anything Halloween related, Della is there. Of course she enjoyed the performance, cheering and applauding way louder than she had to.

Once Minako comes over to hear the praise she's rightfully earned, Della, as always, goes over the top - she puts an arm over her eyes, staggering backwards. ]

Ah, I'm blinded! It was too awesome, I couldn't handle it! My eyes can't handle such sheer coolness!

[Even if he was one of the performers, Crow still had a chance to catch the other performances of the night. Just like the other concert, he was pretty impressed by everyone else's talent. So when he sees Minako after the show, he readily gives praise.]

I did! You were amazing on stage! And I liked the laser effects too!

[ Minako's performance was professional, Crow can tell she's idol material. It also helps that she's pretty cute as well.]

Your show reminds me of a lot of the concerts back in my world. We go all out when it comes to music!

You were amazing, Minako-chan. A true start on stage. I look forward to hearing you perform even more in the future.

[Of course he's heard her before, back at the tournament. But he's going to praise her every chance he gets.]

[Usagi wouldn't miss this for anything! There's absolutely nothing, that could keep her away from this event, especially not when it's Minako's turn to perform on the stage. She smiles, laughs and dances through the whole show!

The line about coming to Minako right away if she ever feels lonely hits her a lot during all of that but Usagi doesn't even let it show... Much. Maybe with a short, emotional smile at that part but then she continues partying to the song and she's honestly having a really great time during the whole performance.

Usagi also has a big smile on her face as soon as they find each other after her show!]

Like you even need to ask! [She's rushing to hug Minako!] Of course I saw you -- I couldn't even take my eyes off you! Mina-chan, you were absolutely AMAZING!! I mean you're always absolutely amazing but that really was the best show ever, I loved every second of it!

[Souma actually prepared a little something. He couldn't help but notice his young network friend at the rehearsals and knows how much work she put into her performance, so, he is waiting afterwards with a little mini-bouquet of sunflowers, osmanthus, and chamomile, tied with a blue ribbon. He also has a cup of herbal tea in a little lidded paper to-go cup. It's chamomile with honey and lemon, and it's strong and refreshing. In shaky looking letters, he wrote on the cup:

When she comes Souma's way, he holds them out for her, head nodding rapidly as if something that had to do with an upcoming battle was being discussed.]

Pre-party

[She was currently wearing her Little Red Riding Hood costume as she wandered around. Looking at what was up for offer, looking over the CDs, posters and gushing over other people's costumes. This was all quite nice, and added to the feeling of familiarity that she desperately needed.]

Concert

[She clapped her hands along with the beat of the music. Her hood had fallen off, and hair flopping free as she moved around to the music being played, she especially enjoyed the more jazzy parts! The fanservice parts also got a few squeals from her! Sure it wasn't exactly what she was used to but it was all fun, nonetheless!

She even grabbed onto someone and pulled them into a dance.]

[Ren offers her an orange rose as he passed her by with a smile.]

[She didn't even ask first! Kadoc flails around a little to try and get his footing and catch up to what exactly she's trying to do here; he's not a natural dancer. He's not even really an any kind of dancer!]

Pre-Party!

[ Since Crow tends to be a nervous wreck before any show, he decides to participate in the party as a change of pace. Crow will be hanging around some of the tables where some of the CDs are on sale. He picks up a few in interest for those who are performing. He's a myumon, so he appreciates music. He might notice someone nearby, and he'll give them some helpful recommendations.]

Oh! If you like that one, then you gotta listen to this too!

[You might catch the hedgehog drooling over some Halloween treats! What? It's for charity! Not that it changes how much candy he shovels into his mouth. Even with a mouthful of treats, he'll nudge the nearest person to indulge as well.]

After Party

[After his performance, Crow joins the afterparty. He surprisingly has a lot of energy despite singing two songs. He's ready to mingle with the cattle that he converted tonight, or give praise to the other performers.]

That was an Apolocalyptically Amazing Show!!

Clean up

[Even if he has a hangover from the night before, Crow shows up bright and early to help clean up. It's only fair after performing that he also helps with the cleaning duties. However, Crow will be moving slower than usual as he collects the trash on the floor, and you might see him falling asleep as he sweeps the floor. How can he nod off standing up?]

After Party

[Here's one member of Crow's cattle herd! Hijikata, who usually only attend concerts for damage control (they tend to draw big crowds, so terrorists or evil cults or whatnot can get a lot of attention by attacking them), came primarily to support his friend and experience his performance on a bigger stage again tonight.]

Good work, Crow.

[He isn't into the whole gothic romance aesthetic, but his mun is and Crow absolutely nailed the dramatic atmosphere, and 'Rangnarøk' really hit the spot for the samurai (and, going by the reactions in the audience, plenty of other attendees... including the ghosts of the Yuureisengumi, many of which he brought along).]

If we can keep that spirit up, then we can still make it a good winter after everything.

After Party

Concert / Backstage

[Ren has two different performances on stage, but before, between and after them he can be found from the backstage. Either he's resting or making sure everyone has what they need.

He looks cheerful enough, but there's definitely a layer of exhaustion that can definitely be spotted if you're observant enough. He's a great actor, but it's not always easy to fake being all cheerful.

So you could catch him either preparing to go on stage, reading a book while relaxing or delivering water bottles to other performers.]


After-party

[Despite being rather tired now that the concert was over, Ren stays for a while to greet guests and talk to anyone interested.]

[ For the most part, she's kept to herself, having been spending time giving the fairies who helped her with her performance the sweets she promised. It was such a dazzling show, especially with everyone putting on their best. Mortals truly are amazing...

But she did observe a certain someone pushing himself, and while she did check in on him, or see others like Camus showing their own care in their own way-

It's been worrying her, and once she's done helping clean up with the help of the fairies she brought with her, she goes to touch Ren's arm. ]

You're still here...? It's so late already. I can ask the fairies to help clean whatever remains.

[ Ren's been doing too much and it shows. ]

Preparations I
[Souma is walking through the backstage area. There are people rushing this way and that, carrying props or bringing messages to Ren or taking a costume to the dressing room. It's a bit chaotic. He notices that you are hammering a few nails into a wooden scaffolding that is going to hold up backdrops and scenery. It was a bit wobbly still, and needs some stability.

A messenger bumps into the tall ladder, setting it swaying. Souma looks up and is alarmed to see you falling off of the ladder.]

Oh! Watch out--

[Quick as a flash he whips a hand up. With his kinetic magic, he catches you gently. It feels like landing on a giant palm, weirdly enough. Souma gazes up with a concerned knit between his brows.]

A-are you all right?

Preparations II
[Souma is backstage in the dressing room area, and when you walk by, he says quietly:]

Wait-- there is a hole in your-- in your clothing.

[He points vaguely to you, a bit too shy to be specific. There is definitely a spot where the seams have come apart on your clothes. It might be on your back, or under your right arm, you make the call.

Souma holds up a sewing kit and nods to you. Somehow he thought this might come in handy, with the costume changes.]

I can... sew. If you want help fixing it.

Pre-party
[This is the part of the party for which they were supposed to wear costumes. Souma purchased something to wear at the village shops. He has a grey headband with wolf ears, and a pair of oversized furry wolf paws and a tail to match. With these fastened onto his normal plain black farm work clothing, he feels satisfied that he has earned admission to the affair. Right now he is standing at the edge of the dance floor at the refreshments table, placing the mini egg tarts and the spiced apple bread he made on platters for the partygoers to try and filling people's cups with apple cider. His face is solemn as he ladles cider into a cup and hands it to the guest and says very quietly:]

Enjoy. Happy Autumn. May the Harvest Moon shine upon you.

Afterparty
[After he finished his performance, Souma has no more reason to have jitters... well, until he thinks about how it was received. He hasn't thought about that yet. When he does, surely his quarters will be anxiety central.

For now, he has been shown to a sofa and handed a few drinks and he feels a kind of relieved euphoria, that he conquered another fear of his by participating in the performance. Here he sits nursing a bottle of beer and gazing around people-watching. His face is rather serious, making it hard to read, but his cheeks are flushed pink. If there was ever a good time to chat him up, it's now.]

On The Way Home
[The venue is being closed up, lights being put out, doors being locked. Souma steps outside into the street, carrying his heavy cloak under one arm. He watches his breath make a puff of steam in the air in front of him. The air feels like it might snow...

He looks over and notices someone else who is by themselves. He approaches, a furrow between his brows. Yeah, it might be liquid courage, or it might be the bravado left over after he just sang on stage. But, here he comes, and he isn't stumbling over words. He inclines his head towards you.]

It is late, and quite dark. Shall I walk you home? For safety.

Pre-party, can time skip to after-party through it too!

[ She's enjoying herself, having gotten a cute little goldfish princess outfit with pretty hair accessories- it's not very distinct, but it gets the job done! ]
