Autumn, despite the chillier weather, is a season of warmth and gathering. Perhaps moreso this year than normal, given the rather unplanned gathering of Celliwig and Lestari underneath Camelot's roofs. Though significant contributions from otherworlders have made food, shelter, clothes and other productions and donations, medical care, security and protection, and childcare an amazing group effort, typical individual celebrations for the departure of the dead from Avalon aren't being held, like Lestari's Death Ball. After looking at all the support they've been given, Lestari and Celliwig have looked at what they have to offer to help both their own people and the people of Camelot and other worlds. |
The people of Lestari excel in cognitive magic, and while there are those who use it for mind-altering magics, there is a good portion who dedicate their studies to emotional and psychological support. One such method is the enchantment of origami paper into something affectionately called Worry Monsters: an specialized counseling technique used to help form support bonds between people with negative emotions. Having spent a portion of the month enchanting paper, two square sheets of paper are handed out to anyone the encounter.

There are a variety of paintings with different curses applied. Navigate through the library and escape the haunted paintings-- pairs who make it through without turning back will gain a Celliwig Token.
Another token can be gained via scavenger hunt in the Broceliande. Find cursed dolls from within tree hollows. The dolls will giggle and try to run away, may move when they're only visible in the corner of your eye if you set them down. What's perhaps a little spookier is that they take on the appearance of the first person to touch them, though they will never exceed three inches in height. |

![]() | The last test of courage invokes a temporary blindness hex on one of the partners. Both partners are walked into a soundproofed room, entirely silent in a way that truly seems to mess with one's head. The unblinded partner is only allowed to answer "yes" or "no" questions, though no one will fault them for giggling as long as they give no clues otherwise. The blind partner is to stick their hands into a tank of water with mystery items hidden within. These items may be mere objects like peeled grapes in soggy noodles, or perhaps the tank is filled with chicken bones and those tiny garra that eat dead cells and are sometimes used for pedicures. All the items are set up to feel spooky, but ultimately are unharmful. As long as the partner who can give clues doesn't break the yes/no rules and the item is guessed within 3 guesses, a token will be rewarded! |

Bring tokens to the inn where a stall has been set up, with Gwion working the booth to exchange tokens for the following prizes:

So what happens with normal portraits if the model has passed? Do they no longer move, or disappear, or...?
no subject
(As they walk around the maze and hopefully find a way out of there, Hedwig can sense a spine-chilling feeling as she passes by one portrait whose eyes glance back at her out of curiosity, which spooks her out a little.)
no subject
[ Meadowbell, meanwhile, peeks a little out of Fenton's hair, glancing around at the paintings lining the walls. Noticing the same painting, she gives a frightened squeak and ducks back into the safety of her hiding spot. ]
no subject
(Harry isn’t sure how to react to the haunted paintings right now as he is hoping that they will be able to go out of the maze soon.
Now he could hear Hedwig letting out a soft frazzled sound along with another noise from Fenton’s hair (he has no idea that Meadowbell is hiding in there at the moment, but he doesn’t have the time to react to it right now.)
no subject
[ It's mostly an idle comment as they continue on, mostly to keep himself calm despite the unsettling feeling around them. But the talk does help a bit, since he doesn't even notice the painting staring at them, even while their familiars do. ]
no subject
(Well, he hasn’t tested it on an enchanted portrait before coming to Avalon or anything like that, but if Ron’s dad can enchant a Ford Anglia to fly, then maybe anyone can try to remove the enchantments on any item as they wish.
Also disturbed by the painting’s glances is Rose who dares to poke her head out of Harry’s pants pocket to see the eyes staring at them while they pass it by, and when said eyes look at her directly on the eyes, she softly squeaks in a panic and dives back onto the pocket again.)
no subject
[ The squeak finally does draw Fenton's attention, though he doesn't realize where it's coming from. It's enough, though, to have him notice the painting, and he can't help a grimace when he notices the painting staring at him. ]
Wow that is...really unsettling.
no subject
(Rose’s squeaks did temporarily distracts him when he does look at the painting’s eyes staring back at him and Fenton, spooking him out a bit.)
Yeah, that painting seems to be very interested in staring at us for some reason.
no subject
[ Though he knows that one of Huey's friends had magic? He thinks, he's not entirely sure.
He pauses a moment then, trying to get a better look at the painting. ]
Think it might mean something? Or it's just trying to distract us?
no subject
(Considering that he has deal with snobbish school bullies, power hungry Ministry employees, Death Eaters, and a Dark Lord who has splintered his soul so much, it’s not stranger territory for him to find dark wizards at home.
And he did glance back at the painting to see that it is still staring at it for some reason.)
Honestly, I don’t really know right now. But that painting is starting to creep me out me a bit too.
no subject
[ As he stares at the painting that stares back at them, another painting behind them starts to move. And it looks like it's holding something...
Which Fenton doesn't notice, but Meadowbell does, having peeked out from Fenton's hair again, and she gives an alarmed squeak. ]
no subject
One so loud that it snaps Harry out from staring at the first painting for long.)
Huh, what happened, Rose? Did you saw something in this gallery as well?
no subject
Meadowbell, what - ?
[ As he turns to look at the pixie, he finally catches the moving painting from the corner of his eyes, and turns just in time to see the painting throw something at them. ]
Look out!
no subject
(While he didn’t manage to get what the object the second painting threw at him, Fenton, and their familiars, Harry reacts quickly to send in a blast of fire, incinerating the object before it could hit any of one of them to the face.
The remains of the object lands on the ground with a thud as the young man tries to sink in what had just happened.)
Whoa, that went by very quickly.
no subject
We should, uh...leave, probably.
no subject
(He then channels his kinetic magic to send the objects away from him and Fenton onto opposite directions while he searches around for a path that they can use to escape this maze.
As he looks around for an exit, he soon sees one with no nearby enchanted paintings that might lead them to the right direction.)
Hey, we can take this one over here: maybe it can take us out of the paintings’ line of sight.
no subject
Sounds good! Let's go!
no subject
(The two of them begin to sprint towards the path in hopes of escaping the paintings’ antics as they make their way towards the maze exit. Rose finally pokes her head again after hiding away for most of the painting encounter as they quietly walk on the path Harry has found.)
Well, I think we lost them for now. Hopefully things will calm down as we leave the maze entirely. I’ve been in this maze for some time ago, so I’m hoping that I can still remember navigating around it.
no subject
[ Fenton's just glad to have gotten away from the paintings that seem a bit more violent. ]
Oh, you've been through here already? Does it look similar to before?
no subject
And yes, it is still the same maze format when I last visited it with other people months ago, minus the creepy paintings of course.
no subject
[ But still, they didn't have to throw things at people! ]
Really? So are we close to the exit then?
no subject
(He soon looks around to see for any sign of the exit to the maze and finds that they’re almost near it already. Just only a few steps and they should be out of there in no time.)
Oh good, we’re not too far away from the exit now. Let’s get out of here.
no subject
no subject
Oh wow, that was a really interesting time to be in a maze, isn’t it? I think that my legs could fall asleep on me at any time now.
