a. not quite a puppy parade

( Asriel's never really given adopting pets too much thought. As someone who's rather animal-like himself, it... would feel rather odd, to say the least. Not to mention that keeping pets where he's from is looked at as something odd for that very reason. Still, it's a bit fun to see what sort of pets people may take in. There are still many animals that he has yet to see for himself.

For the most part, the animals are... cute, to say the least, albeit a bit unique. He recognizes some of them from his time in Cellwig, and whoever else is there at the same time as he is might see that for himself as he greets them like one would to a friend.

At one point, someone will see a ferret running up to Asriel, making their way onto his lap. He'll respond with a quiet giggle and a gentle headpat. On another hand, the frogs seem to be giving him a bit of an attitute, a sigh and a “take a picture, it'll last longer' He can't help but blink in surprise before looking away, albeit a bit sheepishly. )

Gosh, s-sorry....

b. campfire stories

( Asriel is sitting around the campfire, cup of cocoa in hand as he listens to each of the scary stories that are being told. However, nothing seems to particularly scare or startle him far too much. Instead, he looks up every-so-often from his drink, blowing on it to cool it down.

But then, the time comes for him to tell his own story, and he looks up from the hot chocolate with a surprised expression. )

O-Oh, me...? Uhm... I'm not sure.

( Honestly, he does have some in mind, but none that he's certain he wants to share. )

c. pumpkin mayhem!

( Upon having heard that pumpkins were being decorated, Asriel decides to try his hand at it. He's never had the chance the celebrate Halloween, so he wants to give some of the traditions a shot. He decides to take another route from making his own monster-like, considering that... well... he's a monster himself.

He's already drawn his face on the pumpkin – but now, he's going to take the time to carefully begin to carve into it. It's only when he looks up that he stops, offering a smile to the person next to him. )

Howdy! ( He greets cheerfully. ) What were you going to make your pumpkin look like?

[Arlo's pumpkin is currently blank, he hasn't even thought of what to draw on it. All he knows he's that he's happy to be hanging out with new friends - makes him wanna break into a song! But right now, pumpkins.]

Oh, I dunno yet. There's so much I could carve on it, y'know? Kinda hard to decide! What are you making yours look like, Asriel?

[He looks over to see Asriel's pumpkin.]

( It really feels like Asriel's made so many more friends here than he has home, but that's just another reason why he likes being here as much as he does. And besides, this is his first real Halloween! What better to do that with than his newfound friends? )

I wanted to do something cool, like an older boss monster! ... Oh, uhm -- ( He should tell him what they are, huh...? He's gotten some pretty confused looks when mentions boss monsters. )

Sort of like me, or the rest of my family.

You've got a family of monsters? That are bosses? That's so cool!

[Hey, Arlo can't judge. He's an alligator boy who's made friends with a giant furball with legs.]

( There's a pause on Asriel's end before he giggles a little at his words. )

O-Oh, no... uhm... That's what kind of monsters we are. We're the strongest monsters in the Underground!

[ The frogs might shut up just a bit once they see the GIANT SCARRED MUSCLE MAN looming over them and the goat boy and giving them a death stare.

...Not that he means to do so. It's just how he looks. ]

... Asriel.

[letmewin]

( Asriel turns then, looking up towards Asriel before offering a bright smile. The frogs might be scared of him, but Asriel doesn't show any sign of fear at all. )

Howdy, Asterios!

Did you come here to see the animals?

[beefaroni]

Yes. Came to see... the animals.

[ Word spread all the way to the forest, apparently. He couldn't help but be curious. ]

... You seem... happy.

[letmewin]

( There's a brief pause at that. Honestly, Asriel's been going through a hard time, but he doesn't want to bring down his friend's mood. )

Uhm... W-Well... I haven't really seen a lot of these animals before.

Were you going to take one home with you?

[beefaroni]

[ He shakes his head no. ]

... They deserve happy homes.

[ But, he does give a head-tilt. ]

Will you... take one?

[ Animal person taking an animal is, indeed, a tad odd. ]

[Drake is nearby, offering a cheery smile as he looks over his own pumpkin. He hasn't started his work yet!]

I'm thinking of something Darkwing Duck-related. Either the guy himself, or maybe one of his villains! [He glances towards the goat.] How about, you Asriel? What do you have in mind?

( Asriel's expression lights up when Drake speaks. He's glad to see a familiar face! )

Gosh, I can't wait to see it, then! ( He withdraws a little at the question, looking to his own pumpkin -- which really doesn't seem to resemble anything just yet. )

I kinda wanted to do an older boss monster. One sorta different from my usual character.

[flapsin]

[Drake beams with pride at his young fan! He'll have to make sure his pumpkin comes out extra cool to leave a good impression! But now, he looks on curiously as Asriel talks about his pumpkin.]

Ooh, you don't say. Sounds interesting! What's this boss monster like? [He remembers how 'monster' has a different meaning for Asriel, so he tries not to assume this is some kind of villain!]

They're like an older version of me. Adult boss monsters are really tall and strong -- we're the toughest monsters in the Underground.

( With that said, he'll stat drawing on his own pumpkin, small tail beginning to wag in the excitement of it all. )

Something scary.

[They had come to the pumpkin thing with Asriel, because they know more about Halloween than their brother so why not be around to help out the young monster if he needed it.

That and they wanted to make up for the time they spent away from Asriel.]

Maybe a demon or something like that, what about you?

( A demon... Hey, Asriel thinks that's actually pretty cool.

As for Asriel, they're happy to have Chara back, but... there's some mixed feelings, too. Their last conversations with one another hit him pretty hard, but it's their first Halloween together. He wants to enjoy it with them.

And really, mixed feelings aside -- he's just happy that Chara's back. )

Gosh, well... I really wanted to try to do something cool! It's my first pumpkin.

Maybe an older Boss Monster, heehee.

[Mixed feelings aside, Chara is fine with acting like everything is normal.

Why talk about problems when you can just ignore them! They do chuckle at Asriel's idea though.]

Why not try the God of Hyperdeath if you wanted something cool?

[As much as they may poke fun at Asriel's character, they don't mind encouraging it either.]

( He pauses at that, contemplating Chara's suggestion for a moment before shaking his head. )

Maybe, but -- I kinda wanted to try something different this time.

( Hey, he totally expects Chara to poke fun at whatever new character he comes up with, though. )

What about you? Are you going to use your character?

[ Amy is staring at her pumpkin for a moment, tapping the knife against it while she thinks, when the voice startles her from her concentration. Glancing over, she smiles a little. ]

Oh! I'm not really sure, actually. Maybe a cat? That might look kinda cool with the candle, give it glowing eyes and all.

How about you?

( A cat, huh? He looks to the pumpkin before offering a small smile. )

Gosh, a cat sounds really cute... Uhm, I wanted to do something cool! Maybe kinda scary.

[ She smiles as well, then looks at his pumpkin for a moment. ]

Hmm...how about a ghost? That would be pretty cool.

[letmewin]

A ghost...?

( Asriel pauses for a moment, thinking about it before his eyes light up. )

--Golly, I know! I can make one look like one of the ghosts from home?

[Now that the arrangements have been made Venti finds himself with another student under his wing. Asriel is a sweet boy with a mysterious past and while Venti senses something deeper to the things he says he finds him the perfect type of person who could use music. Music has a way of healing or even a way of letting a soul cope with deeper and darker things. And if Venti can teach a young student the vibrance of music he'll be happy to do it.

Now, Venti has no classroom. No place to formally teach his students. But most of his classes were taught in the open-air back home as well. In the middle of the main plaza overlooking the city... Here Venti has opted for the Red Springs Inn's roof. High up here he can hear the wind and observe the world from this vantage point. That is where he'll tell Asriel to meet him for his music lessons.

He hopes Asriel was able to get his own violin!]

( Luckily with school, Asriel was able to save up enough money to buy his own violin. It's nothing particularly fancy, but it's enough for Asriel to at least get started with. He's never really thought about trying to learn how to play an instrument -- in the past, he doesn't think he'd be interested, and after everything happened... it wasn't really an option for him. But, now? Not only is it an excuse to see a new friend more often, but he can't help but find interest in wanting to learn something new.

Venti was rathe mysterious himself. Despite the two speaking to one another a couple of times, Asriel doesn't feel as though he knows him very well yet. He figures it's something he can learn about in time. And even if he doesn't? That's alright. He knows that for some people, they'd prefer to keep things private. One doesn't need to know about their past or anything else they may prefer to keep hidden to become close friends with them.

He makes his way to the roof -- smiling when he spots Venti. He makes his way to him, waving happily with his free hand. )

Good afternoon, Venti!

Good afternoon, Asriel! I hope you've been having a pleasant day so far!

[Venti chirps happily in return as he waves the boy over. The sun is bright and the air a little chilly for an autumn day but not so cold that it's unpleasant outside. It's just temperate enough.]

Welcome to your first music lesson! I see you've gotten yourself a violin!

[Venti does tend to keep most details about himself private. He's known for being annoyingly vague most of the time. But with time Venti does talk about himself. He could think the same things about Asriel. The boy seems to have a lot about himself that he holds closely.]

( If anything, Asriel's days are looking brighter than they were beforehand. Things have been on the more grim side for this world lately -- there's no denying that -- but, slowly but surely, things have start6ed to improve. Everyone's been working together to make sure of that. And, Asriel personally...? Things seemed to have worked out for the better. )

Yeah! It's a really nice day to be out here, huh? You seem like you're doing really well, too.

( At the mention of his violin, he can't help but look to the instrument. )

Uh-huh. ( Asriel holds it carefully -- as if it were something fragile. )

I've been trying to save money from school, and I'm really glad I did. ( Without that, he isn't sure he'd be able to get his hands on something like this. )
