[It's only by chance that Eustace narrowly dodges a pumpkin that just whizzes by his head, frowning as he stares at the flying gourd. At first he thought someone recklessly threw it, but then he sees it actually stop in mid-air and fling itself back towards him. Realizing it's moving on its own, he once again rolls out of the way, unholstering his gun as he does before quickly aiming and firing a bolt of lightning. It's a perfect shot, hitting it squarely in the center to cause it to explode into smaller pieces and fall to the ground below.]
...Was it cursed?
[Somehow he wouldn't be surprised if so, but hearing some shouts as more pumpkins roll and fly about disrupts his thoughts and he heads over to try and help take care of them. He doesn't necessarily want to shoot them given the mess they can make, but he sometimes doesn't have much of a choice. So hopefully no one gets too much pumpkin splatter on them.
BONUS: When not dealing with the pumpkins, if he is managed to get dragged into a patch he may be persuaded to decorate one (though he'll be wary and suspicious if he's learned that the pumpkins might come to life from there). But if he does decorate one, it'll be dog themed.]

⊗ b: task - don't lose your head
[Hearing about the Headless Horseman prompts Eustace to head back, a trip made easier thanks to having received the Celliwig totem earlier. Since it's difficult to track its movements, Eustace takes an area to help cover.
1. Helping...Paw? Although he could just stick to a perch and be ready to snipe, it leaves a bad taste in his mouth when he could also be helping. So when someone else is on guard, he drops down to do what he can, be it just clearing out rubble and debris or transporting the dead. That includes turning into a dog and try to help sniff out or dig out any remains. It's not the most pleasant work and it would be better if there weren't any, but he's fairly immune to the sad, grisly aspect of it.
2. Fighting the Horseman. When the Horseman does arrive, should he be at his perch he'll instantly fire a few shots of lightning down at it in attempts to deal damage as well as stun it, but he can't be too sure if his lightning will have that kind of effect. Regardless, he'll provide cover fire for anyone fighting on the ground.]

⊗ c: tdm - not quite puppy parade
[It's probably not too surprising to find Eustace making a small stop to look at the adoption fair. And as an animal mage, he figures he could help out if needed.
For now, he just looks over the pens with a curious eye when one he spots one of those hamsters toddling about. It doesn't take long for him to catch up to it and pick it up. But then there's another. ...And another one.
...
At some point, Eustace has an armful of hamsters including a few that managed to climb up on top of his head and shoulders.]
...Those wings won't save you if you fall, you know.
[Just a small sigh as he carefully makes his way through the crowd to try and bring them back. Anyone want to help???]

[He'll also be hunting the forests to help bring in extra meat and other resources, so could have some run ins there! Considered the Forest of Fachan prompt line but might be better as dedicated with one or two people. Can do the other quests, and it's likely he might end up getting involved in the Suns out, Guns out task in the sense of trying to intervene any unnecessary violence, so that's another option. If interested in anything else not included here, just hit me up on
laenavesse or discord and we can work something out!]

That's good. [Hm hm.] If you want, you can draw on the pumpkin and I can carve out the face for you.
no subject
[She is clumsy. If there is a way to trip or hurt herself somehow she is liable to it. So that seems the safer option in letting him do the carving, if she draws up some ideas to decorate the pumpkins with the marker drawings. Her tongue pokes out slightly as she then starts trying to draw on another one.]

It's Noishe! Oh, maybe I should do one of Lloyd too!
no subject
...
He...can...sort of...make...something out of it.... ...]
...I... See. ...
Did you want me to carve out its...eyes or mouth? [He thinks that's a mouth...
He also notes the marker, but he has a feeling she's only going to spread more. Should he tell her to clean up or just wait...]
no subject
[Or. He can. Nobody should trust Colette with anything that sharp outside of cooking or her chakrams and even then. It's Colette. But she doesn't seem to notice the marker on her face, or if she does she doesn't seem to mind? She can always properly wash up back home once they were done anyway.]
no subject
I'll do it. [...He thinks he can figure out which is which.] You can wash your face in the meantime. [Just going to slightly point at his own cheek to indicate she had something on hers.]
no subject
[She pauses initially before gathering what he means. And proceeds to attempt to try wipe it off with the back of her hand, possibly smudging some on the sleeve of her tunic. Which may at least in the moment stain against the white of her sleeve. It isn't coming off too well though, not without water and soap to help wash it off properly. But there is somewhere to wash their hands, in that people obviously anticipated this could be messy with people wanting to carve the pumpkins and cut the insides out to put in a candle and all. So she heads over there to try and properly attempt to clean up.]
no subject
...
...]
These are the eyes, right...
[Just a quiet mutter as he stares at it before taking the plunge and starting to carve it. At least the eyes seemed obvious it's what is the mouth that has him most confused so he'll just. Wait until Colette comes back before trying it.]
no subject
I'm not sure it's the most accurate but. I did my best. I do have Emerald but it isn't the same as having Noishe around.
[The Familiar is similar, but has a different personality and all. It isn't quite the same thing. Besides that Noishe being here would generally mean Lloyd was as well.]
no subject
[...Well since she's here, he'll point to what he thinks is the nose.]
Is that the nose? And the mouth right under?
no subject
[Colette gives a nod when he points and asks to confirm. Noishe was basically like a dog in appearance so she hadn't figured it would be that difficult, that different. But of course that also depended on her art skills as well. Which may not necessarily be the best.]
no subject
Once he's finished he steps back and inspects his work.]
...I think that should be enough, unless you think I should carve out more pieces. A candle goes inside to light it up.
no subject
[She probably has some candles at home. She grins at the progress though, excited to see it proper. This is so new and novel to her, she can't help but to be excited and amused with it all. Learning of these holidays and trying to learn how to celebrate and participate in them.]
no subject
...
[He's about to hand her the pumpkin, but recalling her, uh, clumsiness, he reconsiders.]
I'll set it aside until you're ready to take it home with you.
[And will probably help carry it.]
no subject
[He seems more familiar with this in comparison, anyway. So Colette figures Eustace might know. In asking him if two is enough or not. There are plenty of pumpkins provided but she isn't sure how many is fine and wants to still leave some for the others.]
no subject
[A small shrug before there's a light smile.]
I have time, so if you'd like to carve or decorate more I can help.
no subject
[It's just her and Emerald after all. And she is sure most of her friends if they are aware of this holiday would want to do the decorations or such themselves. Or especially if they hadn't had the chance to experience this for themselves like her. That they were learning and wanting to try celebrate and all as well.]
no subject
[He thinks she could always do with one or two more...but if that's what Colette wants, he'll go with it. So he'll just pick up the pumpkin and tuck it under his arm to help her carry it.]
...Hm. I wonder if they do trick-or-treating here.
no subject
[Dressing up and getting chocolates or such. For all that she does prefer fruits in her dishes, she does have something of a sweet tooth, after all. And Colette hasn't celebrated Halloween before back home. Though she will ask if he is alright in carrying the pumpkin, it is hollowed out and thus not as heavy at least. Just awkward in being kind of big to carry is all.]
no subject
[And he's cool with carrying the pumpkin so he'll reassure her it's fine.]
no subject
[There might not so much have been candy like most would be familiar with otherwise, back at Sylvarant and all. But it might be fun to try it, especially given her sweet tooth. She probably would enjoy it.]
It does sound like fun though! Will you? Um, give out chocolate and candy?
no subject
Most likely, yes.
[HE'LL HAVE CANDY JUST FOR COLETTE AT LEAST.]
no subject
[As her first time and all, she feels like she should get into things, right? Join in the fun. Even if this is more aimed at younger kids than teenagers like her. It isn't like she necessarily knows that.]
no subject
Just be careful if you do plan to hand out candy. You might get overwhelmed.
[A light smile as he can easily see little kids feeling comfortable going up to her...and possibly try to fish more candy out of her.]
