⚔️️ WHAT: Hifumi has been too busy to chat with the very people he lives with lately so he plans to change this and apologize for the endless amounts of chopped vegetables in the freezer

[Hifumi is going to make today a great day! He tries to do this every day... but today!! Today is going to be different! Instead of basically living at his job, he's going to treat those he should have been all this time! He's going to do his very best for them!]

[He says cheerfully, showing off the amazing display on their dining room table full of delicious looking foods he made. He's practically sparkling with joy as he does so.]

It's about time I spoiled you all, so I hope you enjoy! Come on, don't be shy!

[You know, he had been meaning to talk to Hifumi a bit sooner than this about being at work all of the time and doing host club stuff non-stop. But he figured with their diminishing ranks...it must be a little bit difficult.]

You went all out, didn't you? I have been spoiled by your cooking many times in the past...so I do hope the others take advantage of such an occasion.

[He gives Hifumi a fond look.]

Are you staying home today?

[The most wonderful of all Senseis he had ever met in his life! Hifumi beams upon seeing Jakurai.]

I hope so too!

[The question, ah, Hifumi could only answer honestly even if he knew he was doing A Bit Too Much and he knows how Jakurai is. He hated to worry him, so he gives him a sheepish grin.]

I am not staying home today, unfortunately. Sorry, Sensei!

[It would not be wise to tell Sensei any lies! So, yes. He will be keeping a close ear in on this conversation while it is happening.]

You could stay around a little longer today, right? I hardly see very much of you unless it is early morning, or right before you leave.

[Maybe that was a subtle suggestion for Hifumi to stick around today, he knows that Megumi won't intrude unless she's sure Hifumi is okay with her being around. Thancred and Gaius are probably somewhere around here.]

[Oh no... one of the hardest things to do ever is say no to Jakurai. He simply cannot do it... kind, caring, gentle man.

Hifumi pauses for a moment before he nods.]

Yep, yep! I can stay a little longer today! That should be no problem at all!

[He bows apologetically.]

I'm very sorry for not being around much!

No need to apologize, I just get a little worried. You know that.

[He doesn't want to press, but also, he wants to press. So he will be tactful about how he does this.]

Hifumi-kun. You look a little tired, have you been sleeping properly?

[They can start simple.]

[He can't lie to Sensei. He keeps repeating that to himself, especially since pretending he's okay all this time has already been a form of lying that he feels extremely guilty for.]

Not really. You know... [He stops with the overly cheerful act.] It's a lot less enjoyable when it isn't as warm and cuddly as it once was.

[He wishes he could bring Doppo back, he does. But he knows no amount of wishing will ever make him return though. Jakurai knows that he's in some what of a better place, but not by very much.]

I can understand that, and it's okay to miss him, you know.

[But...Hifumi should be taking care of himself!]

I think perhaps hanging around here might be a good idea. Have you met Gaius-san?

[He should want to meet the new people who will be in his life every day. But thinking about having to explain why he and Megumi can't be in the same room at the same time is embarrassing and makes him really anxious.]

I'm afraid I haven't met him. [He lowers his head.] I must have left an awful impression on him already.

[Hifumi ought to know by now that Jakurai is rather protective of him. He would hear nothing of anyone questioning why Hifumi can't be around Megumi most days. But, they're working on it! Slowly. Any progress is progress.]

Not at all, he is new to this place. I very well couldn't see him left without a place to stay.

[Jakurai always had a soft spot for people who looked as tired and worn as the rest of them.

BUT ALSO, MORE REASONS FOR HIFUMI TO STAY TODAY.]

[As expected of Jakurai! Hearing that puts a smile on Hifumi's face. Good ol' Sensei at it again!]

I see! I should have known... That leaves me with no choice but to learn all about what he likes to eat so I can make it for him!

[Hifumi's priorities... Eating favorite foods makes people happy so that's what he'll do!]

[ It's probably her fault they have so many people now, but at least they have the room for it!! And for her. When she hasn't escaped to her rooftop fort because she doesn't want to scare the life out of poor Hifumi.

They have a good set-up for him, though. She always makes a quick exit every time Hifumi is about to return and isn't prepared, and the messaging here has been very convenient for it! She's currently hiding out on a balcony railing, which she shouldn't because of how heavily injured she is, but she likes being ~~tall~~ outside.

Except she's hungry... So she shoots in a quick text. ]

[Oho! His plan of making everyone smell deliciousness to get them curious and hungry is working! He doesn't cook tons of food for nothing! After all, it's the very least he could do for everyone, especially with how worried he's likely (definitely) gotten Jakurai, and how careful Megumi always is with him.]

I made tons of delicious Japanese cuisine!
I'm making sure there's plenty left for you to have some too!
Living in a house with a bunch of guys means lots of food gets eaten but I'm not gonna let them!

[ Hifumi, she's a fan of your cooking. Who does he think empties out the leftovers in her stomach and cries for hours after on the toilet? It's not the toilet ghost! ]

I could out-eat all of you men, and you know it.

I've been craving some chawanmushi actually.
Oh, oh, and takoyaki!
Hifumi, I'll go fight an octopus for you. Will you make me some?

There's stew, but unfortunately no takoyaki!

[How can he say no to making takoyaki if she wants to fight an octopus for him? He can't say no to such an offer! Fresh meat!]

[ He'll probably hear her laughing outside. ]

[ That might have been a small screech because she just got too hype and nearly fell off the railing. Her balance isn't that great just now! ]

[ She calls, though she really hopes no one minds seeing her hanging off the edge. At least she didn't drop her device. ]

[Hifumi also laughs at hearing her out there.]

Riou-san used to do that and that never stopped me!

[Granted nothing Riou ever shared with Hifumi was too weird considering how Riou's tastes can be... but as far as Hifumi is concerned there's always new recipes to make!]

[For better or worse, since the overly generous offer to temporarily stay with them (or so he thinks), Gaius has been...mostly keeping to himself, whether he's in the home or not. Not because he's ungrateful; that Megumi and Jakurai both had seen fit to offer is probably more than he deserves, but the feeling of intruding in their home and in their lives is a hard one to shake, no matter how welcoming they are.]

[But he can hardly avoid mingling with his new roommates forever. Thancred in particular he'd been happy to keep a healthy distance from, at least for the time being, and as for the other young man that had been mentioned to him...]

[Well, it's hard to slide out of the house unnoticed when there's a practical feast spread across the table, the delicious smell of every back-street market he'd ever visited in Doma heavy in the air. And the young man that looks so very pleased with himself must be none other than-]

Ah. Hifumi, was it?

Thaaaaat's me! Hifumi at your service! You can call me Hifumin if you'd like!

[Well, well, well! It must be the roommate he's heard about! Hifumi is so excited to meet Gaius, so much so he hasn't even taken his apron off yet. Hifumi goes to greet him loudly with a welcoming gesture.]

If it isn't Mr Gaius! [he chirps] Boy am I ever so excited to meet you! I hope you're hungry 'cause I made lots of stuff, so please do eat to your heart's content!

[Hifumi is always so radiant and sunshiney on a normal day, getting to meet a new person and especially makes new friends makes him brighter than ever!]

[Gods, when was the last time anyone looked so happy to see him? Even the reunion with his kids had been more distressing than good, in the end, and here's Hifumi, practically glowing in his excitement.]

[It's almost startling to be on the receiving end of this much cheer. But at the same time...with another glance at the food-laden table, it's not like he can tell the poor boy no, now can he?]

You made all of this? [No, really. By himself? It looks like it must have taken him hours to prepare, he thinks as he moves for the tempura that's laid out closest to where he came in.]

'Tis quite impressive. And...much appreciated, truly. My apologies for not introducing myself to you sooner, but it has been...

[It's been a rough adjustment. For numerous reasons.]

[Impressive is good, and Hifumi is so happy to hear that! So far the way to a person's heart is through their stomach has been true every time! He can only imagine the difficulty Gaius is experiencing just arriving, so Hifumi doesn't pry. He was new once before too and all, so he can understand.]

It's okay! It was no sweat at all! Any friend of Miss Megumi and Mr Jakurai is a friend of mine too! Especially 'cause we all live under the same roof!

[He lets out a giggle, going over to pat Gaius on the shoulder gently. Hifumi's a very touchy feely person...]

I guess that means we're like besties already!
