⚔️️ WHAT: There sure is a lot of dumb shit happening in the month of September. Both OPEN and CLOSED prompts, the latter in the comments!
🕒 WHEN: IT'S—the month of September. (More specifically, the span from the beginning of the month to the first part of the event, ending before any dragon problems!)
🗺️ WHERE: Here there and everywhere, including Celliwig, ~the club~, straight up prison, and other assorted places around Camelot.
⚠️ WARNINGS: Eventual branding/tattoo/pain stuff, the subsequent servitude that comes along with that prompt, language, sexual themes in ~the club~, likely violence/actiony antics in the jailbreak, animal capture and implied slaughter for food in the event prompt, and I'll add anything else!

1. Kadoc the Stubborn Husky (early Sept., OPEN, thanks a lot Claude)

[Kadoc needs a second opinion. Maybe even a third, fourth, and further opinions. Claude is a lovable scamp and all, but Kadoc is a paranoid bastard, and he can't quite convince himself that he's not being had with the whole—howling thing. He sounds fine to his own ears! He's probably not an Animal Mage, although boy would this be a typically embarrassing way for that to make itself known if he were!

He needs confirmation, but after how that went with Claude, he can't quite bring himself to walk up to anyone and just start talking. What if he really is making dog noises?! So, instead, he's gathering his courage to approach people he recognizes as offworlders and . . . hold up his tablet, on which he has a Notes file open, with this typed in a large, visible font:]

I NEED YOUR HELP. NOTHING DANGEROUS.

[ . . . This could have been ~~an email~~ a network post, but he's not exactly on his game right now. Who can blame him?]

7. Jailbreak Part 2: The Great Goosening (late Sept., OPEN, the cute part of the event)

[Kadoc has had, to say the least, an unlucky month—but here finally there's a break, or at least a small pleasure. He's already spent plenty of time out in the wilderness gathering mushrooms this month and was debating whether to bother going on an end-of-month hunt, only for the hunt to come to him for once. A chance to grab a pre-fattened goose for their table to go with all those mushrooms? Don't mind if he does!

The geese have other ideas, of course. By now, Kadoc's managed to humanely return several of them to the farm; his Light magic helps there. It's no big deal to snap them up in cages of hard light and then carry those back to where they belong. But geese are smart. Geese are watching him. And when he finally snaps up the fattest of the geese he can find to take home for himself, shutting it up in another light cage and hefting it under his arm, that's when they make their move.

Catch Kadoc racing down the streets of Camelot, vaguely in the direction of his home, but mostly just in any direction that's away from the ten furious honking geese in hot pursuit of him. He's only barely watching where he's going. Watch out, or you could get swept up in this disaster and end up a feather pillow yourself!

Or save him. Someone, please save him from this entire month.]

[Oh man . . . this is actually shaping up to be really cool, and at least a little of Kadoc's awkwardness melts away in favor of enjoying the alchemy show. He doesn't know many people with this brand of magic! It's easier to forget the throbbing pain spreading across his back anyway when he's got a little demonstration to watch.]

—Yeah. If that's not a huge pain or anything. . . . Thanks. How are you gonna do this?

[The magical impetus behind Kadoc's requests is a strange sensation, but not an unpleasant one. It's kind of... ethereally ticklish? Rinea titters a bit at the feeling.]

Alchemy is all about changing an object's physical state. Affecting something's temperature is one of the more basic magics! [She draws the alchemic symbol in her notebook, the page already riddled with symbols from previous escapades. The symbol lights up as she speaks, magic flowing through it.]

Still... If I don't have enough control over it, the exact temperature change might be too much or too little. [Rinea picks up the cup, peering at the water inside before she hands it over, satisfied.] You wouldn't be able to drink ice! In the past I've made my roommate Lady Chris wait many a time at dinner because of it...

[He sits up carefully to take the cup, wincing slightly at the sting in his back. It's really not bad. There's something appealing about it, perhaps just because he's that kind of person, which he already knew. That'd contributed plenty to him being willing to do it in the first place. In any case, once he stops moving, the little jolt of pain subsides, and he takes a drink.]

Lady Chris . . . I don't think I've ever met her. You two get along okay?

[Rinea seems like a pretty ideal roommate . . . but who knows what this Chris is like?]

She's not busting in on your potions workshop? . . . Heh. You might not even have one of those. If you were a mage from my world, you definitely would. We all do.

So you were a mage before Avalon! [Rinea turns her smile on him, interested.] I do have a potions workshop, but I'm new to the discipline. Perhaps you can give me organizational advice. Hehe.

[Kadoc in all his masochism may not mind his pain, but the sight of his wince puts a crease in Rinea's brows regardless. He doesn't ask for anything, so she won't fuss out loud... but she starts going through the supplies she brought in her bag as they talk. (there's a hair comb, a blanket, hand cream, Fantasy Ibuprofen...)]

Lady Chris ensured that I had the workshop when we moved in together, actually. We get along splendidly, I think!

[She's quiet for a moment, eyes down on her hands. Rinea hasn't voiced this next sentiment aloud, before.]

She was... the first person to find me on Avalon's shores. Rather than Lady Chris intruding upon anything of mine, I worry that I am overburdening her with how much I have relied on her.

[Fantasy Ibuprofen! Bless! Kadoc peers over at her curiously, trying not to just outright scope out what's in her bag, but he does wonder. She really is very good at this job . . . soothing . . .

And also, familiar, in the way she talks about herself. How many times has he felt the same way about Gareth? Or any number of other people, including Rinea herself? It's a hard spiral to escape once you get started on it. Kadoc thinks about reaching over to . . . pat her shoulder, or hand, or something, and doesn't do it.]

. . . I mean, I could say I'm sure you're not, and I am sure you're not. But that doesn't mean a whole lot coming from me. It might not even mean a lot coming directly from her. I know how it feels . . . when you decide you're imposing on someone. It's hard to shake. I feel that way a little right now about all this, even if you did volunteer and you're getting paid for it.

And I am so very happy to be here! [It's nice to hear he understand where she's coming from, even if it pangs a little to know he's worried about something that feels so refreshing on her part. But that's just the thing about worrying, isn't it? It doesn't respond to logic head-on.]

I'm... trying to think of it in the same way I do for others. [Embarrassed, her fingers curl into the strap of her bag. Saying even this much would get her side-eyed out of a room back home in the castle, but...] Just as we spoke upon in the hall of mirrors. "Caring and being cared for is not a burden, but a privilege."

[The smile she gives him is shy, seeking his understanding.] Right?

. . . Yeah.

[She's right; he remembers. Kadoc's expression softens a little more, and some of the tension goes out of his aching body. He's still sore, but a little less rigid, and that helps with the pain, too.]

And I think you underestimate how much you do, anyway. I know how that feels. I'm sure if I talked to her, she'd have more to say than you think about everything you do for her.

Hehe.... I hope you're right. [Rinea's smile brightens, sunny and heartfelt. What a kind boy he is... she's so glad to know him.

Speaking of.. Rinea looks a little shy again, and her gaze drops.]

Um, mister Kadoc...

[Rinea folds the blanket slowly, mostly to give herself something to do. Once it's in the shape of a pillow, she moves to place behind her patient's head.]

Would you mind if... I called you.. just Kadoc, perhaps?

[His ears go faintly pink, both with the proximity and the question. It's just something about the way she asks it; of course to him it's always been weirder to be called Mister, but even if he'd really rather her shed the honorific, being asked about it so shyly and politely almost makes him feel like it's a huge question on his part, too. He settles back, using that excuse to not be looking right at her face.]

I—yeah. I mean no. That's . . . no, I don't mind, and yeah, you can. I'd like that. . . . Now I'm worried I should've been calling you more than just Rinea all this time.

[Back home, he often calls people by their last names, but he doesn't know hers, so Rinea it is.]
