[A - Magic Training]

i - The library

[Having figured out that he can now use at least two elements, Tsuna is feeling a bit more emboldened. It's not perfect, far from it, but it's a start. But if he's going to get any better, he'll have to put the work in. It's difficult to do without Reborn at his side, and he misses his tutor quite a bit (not that he'll freely admit that), but he's got to do something.

So he's found a library, and is now wandering the stacks looking for books on elemental magic. Elemental Magic for Dummies might be a good start, if any such books exist. Thinking he's found the section, Tsuna locates a stool and goes to grab one of the books on a higher shelf. It's a bit taller than his reach though, and he yells as several books come loose at once.]

Aaauuugh!

[ii - Outside Brocéliande]

[Tsuna has a few books now, and he's retreated to just outside the forest to avoid the wrath of the librarians. He'll probably be avoiding that place as much as possible, and hopefully he can return the books without too much difficulty (or is it worth just eating the fine?). Anyway, he can be found doing a few things including reading the books (and looking increasingly confused as he does), trying to make the fire he conjures act like the flames he's used to, or trying to control water.]


B - Quest: Clean up the City

[Tsuna sits down on a makeshift bench to catch his breath. He's been clearing debris from outside of a few shops for most of the afternoon and it's starting to catch up with him. But he's got a good pile of wood chunks going and he's thinking he can practice burning them in a safe manner. The area's cleaner than when he started to. Although there's still a lot to clear and he doesn't want to think about shovelling the snow either.

Still, he hasn't broken anything yet or slipped and caused another mess to replace what he's cleaned up so that's a start, right?]

Maybe I am getting a little bit stronger. [He says to himself.]

Hey, do you think we could use magic to melt the snow?


C - General Chaos, in the form of a dog

[His name is Tsunayoshi Sawada and while he does not invite chaos into his life, it is there, constantly. He's enjoyed a bit of time away from it, but it does always find him again eventually.

It's one of the classic forms this time. He's walking home, having run some errands, and is feeling pretty pleased with himself. Things have been going pretty well. He's learning his magic, this world isn't as weird and scary as he first thought, he has his friends with him and has managed to make some new ones. Even a dog barking at him can't ruin his mood.

In retrospect he should't have had that last thought.

He glances over to see a dog barking at him, running up to him as he passes but Tsuna notes that the dog is at the end of it's leash and the gate is closed so he should be fine. He makes it just past the gate when the dog slips its leash and bolts to the gate, nudging it open and escaping into the lane with a loud bark. And Tsuna panics, taking off at a run that only encourages the dog to chase him.]

Excuse me! Please get out of the way!

[While Tsuna might see the dog as a large, dangerous, beast, it is in fact a mid-sized golden retriever that just wants to be friends.]

[Physical labor, he's come to realize, kind of sucks? It kind of sucks. It doesn't help that his new magic isn't well suited for this kind of thing, and he's spent most of his life training his old magic instead of his body.

So he's been mostly sticking to the smaller bits of debris, and setting anything aside that has a memory attached to it. He wants to train this new magic, and hopefully they won't mind if he pockets a few small knickknacks, right?

When Tsuna speaks up, he startles, dropping what had once been a shop sign.]

...Ah? Oh, um. I don't see why not? It's just normal snow, isn't it, so if you can make it hot...

[He's done a bit of research so he knows it's possible to generate fire, but... He's not about to assume that Tsuna can do that! Maybe Tsuna has light magic and that also generates heat!]

[theskyaccepts]

[Tsuna would absolutely agree that physical labour sucks, even if he's able to stand it for longer than he was used to. He looks a little sheepish when the other boy drops the sign, before brightening again.]

Well, I mean, I've got elemental magic so I was just thinking of making a fire. I can control little ones...so it might be start!

[monostich]

I think a fire would be a very good start, yes.

[Just... Flamethrower the snow, Tsuna. Just do it.]

As long as you don't get close to any of the buildings...

[Tsuna shakes his head rapidly and waves his hands]

No, no, nothing like that. I'd hate for something like that to happen.

But I could make a small one and we could gather it all there. That way we're not piling it all.

[monostich]

[The relief is immediate.]

Yes, that... Sounds much more reasonable.

[And safer. He pauses for a moment, before nodding to himself.]

I can start gathering snow while you work on building a fire...? Do you need kindling for it?

[ Pyrrha's also been hard at work to help clean up the city. She may not have magic that's helpful in the actual physical labor part of it, but she's strong enough to be able to lift heavy loads on her own and shovel through large piles of debris.

She wipes a bead of sweat off of her forehead when Tsuna addresses her. ]

Oh! That sounds like a good idea.

[ Though... ]

We'd have to be mindful of the puddles, though; it wouldn't be good if anyone tripped in them.

That's a good point. And it wouldn't help to freeze them either.

[He's starting to get a handle on fire and water as elements, so he's trying to figure out a way he could potentially use both.]

Maybe there's a place off to the side where we could focus it, that isn't in the way.

[incinerators]

That's true. An alleyway, maybe? We can transport the snow there and melt it.

[ That's the first thing she can think of, at least. ]

Unfortunately I'm not able to help much with the melting, but the shoveling won't be a problem.

That could work! I can definitely help on the melting since I've got elemental magic, but if we can just find a clear alley that might be a good place to start.

[He doesn't want to create too much of a mess, but if it's out of the way that's good.]

If you don't mind shovelling, that is.

[ Did somebody say dog

Stella's fond of animals of all sizes but dogs have always been her one, true love. So when she hears the first boff of an energetic dog, her head snaps up from what she's doing (which is... just tapping away at her phone) and by the second bark, she's already on her feet and racing over to the scene of the crime. She's across the street from poor Tsuna bolting away from the dog so she calls out to him, waving both her hands to get his attention. ]

Heeeeeey! Slow down, quit running! The faster you go, the more he's gonna chase you!

[theskyaccepts]

But if I do that, he'll catch me!

[And probably bite him, don't you see him barking? At least it's a decent sized dog and not a chihuahua, like back in his neighbourhood. He eventually finds a ledge that he can jump up on to catch his breath.]

I didn't do anything to him!

[prismatically]

It's 'cause he thinks you're playing! He just– okay, one second!

[ In an absolutely heart-stopping display of hubris, Stella just sort of darts across the road without really looking where she's going, managing to avoid getting hit by a car probably only by the grace of God. But hey! There's a dog who needs some attention and also Tsuna is there too, I guess.

She immediately dives in to intercept the running dog but... well, Stella's like 5'3'' and she's versus a big, excited dog. I don't need to tell you that she goes down like a sack of bricks. Goodbye, Stella. ]

[If the collision does anything to help, it is that it distracts the dog. His original friend has gone up high but he has also run into someone so he is now looking between the two humans and wagging his tail.

Tsuna is reluctant to get off the ledge, but at the same time, he does feel bad.]

Are you okay? I'm sorry...

[Gokudera was going to meet up with his boss, and he lifts a hand as if in greeting when he hears the gate swing open and the friendly dog is running after his boss.]

Tenth!

[Oh shit! The Tenth is in trouble! He moves towards the dog and shouts a reassurance at his boss.]Don't worry I-

[The gate swings shut with a noisy clang and he freezes up, growls, and drops down onto his hands and knees. His cigarette even falls to the floor. Clearly, he's not in his right mind.]

Grrrrr!

[Hearing Gokudera is a sound of relief and Tsuna goes to wave, as much as he can, while still running. If anyone can get the dog to stop chasing him, it's the Storm Guardian.

At least, so he thinks. He can only watch as Gokudera drops and begins growling at the other dog, who stops and cocks his head at the new human that has shown up. It comes a few steps closer.]

Go-Gokudera-kun? Are you okay?

[He was expecting dynamite.]

[Gokudera turns his head to look at his boss over his shoulder, smiling wide and bright, then opening his mouth and sticking his tongue out.

He looks back at the dog and makes a move forward, not intending to fight, but it's a possessive, aggressive move. If that cute dog tries to approach the Tenth, he's going to push it over and hold it down with one paw hand.

If the dog wants to sniff him, he'll just keep a careful eye on him.]

[In a rare moment of solidarity, both Tsuna and the Dog are very confused. Tsuna because he's not entirely sure why his friend is acting this way (and he doesn't even have Reborn or Gianini to blame really).

The dog, in the meantime, drops a little and wanders forward cautiously. Friend? It seems to suggest, offering a slight sniff.

Tsuna is not sure if he should intervene just yet.]

[Caster had taken up work at the library in order to earn enough to keep her for the time being - it gave her easy access to research resources, and for the most part the job was relatively quiet.

...Then there were days like today.

On hearing that yell, the suspicious looking cloaked woman wandered over from where she'd been putting away some returned books, and found, well, that sight.]

...What happened here?

[theskyaccepts]

[Tsuna looks less than thrilled, sitting in a pile of fallen books and rubbing his head. He looks up at the woman and then away very quickly, pretty embarrassed for a lot of reasons.]

I, uh, I was trying to get a book.

[colchismagecraft]

[If Caster still had access to her powers from home, she'd use her magic to lift him and the books up, but unfortunately she couldn't do that anymore.]

You're not hurt, I take it.

[For the time being, she'll crouch down and start collecting the fallen books, taking a curious glance at the titles as she does so.]

[theskyaccepts]

I-I'll be fine. I've had worse happen to me.

[His head smarts a bit but it will pass. For now, he just struggles to sit up awkwardly and help. Most of the books are on elemental magic, and whatever else happened to be beside it on the shelf.]

[A scream? O-oh. That's no good...

Shoto's tried to catch a glimpse, at least. A little obscured from where he's seated, but— above the pools of toppled books (and miscellaneous few still leaning), there's a boy he's never seen before.

Though normally calm observer, surprise still rattles. So, once initial shock's receded, he'll push to rise quickly. The noises seemed distressed, so his path's a little beeline, taking care to keep muted. It's a library, after all... and while it doesn't appear that bad, he'll ask in case it's worse, in barely audible even rush:]

You okay?

[Casually, and without much thought, he'll drop to pick at books, mechanically cleaning up one by one.]

That surprised me.

[theskyaccepts]

I'm fine.

[It's an automatic response but truthfully Tsuna doesn't look too injured. Mostly just rubbing a spot on his head where a book or two landed. But he's had worse.

He looks at the other boy for a moment before looking down at the ground, a little ashamed. It's moments like these that remind him that he hasn't left Loser Tsuna behind.]

Sorry. I didn't mean for the books to fall.

[From the floor, he's crouched to sit. There's a lot to take note of: various titles and specifics, books thicker than most he's held, and he eyes the rest with interest. Though several things stand out, like "Ice From Scratch", or "Calming Winds", and a few, with faded text, or winding scripts of gold cursive. (Setting those aside for now!)

Then, breezing past apologies,]

Are these for elements?

[Handing up a small one.]

[The apologies are more an automatic response for Tsuna. He's clumsy and makes problems for people, so he's quick to take responsibility for even something as minor as this. But he'll sit up and start helping to stack everything.]

Yeah, they are. It's the kind of magic I have, so I was trying to learn more about them.
