[OTA] Minor Side Quest
What do you think?
[He's getting more used to deferring to whoever happens to be with him when he's not entirely sure of a situation, and being up near the roof of a cavern looking for very large bats isn't something he's ever done before. At least he'd left his scythe elsewhere - it would have been very ungainly to be carrying around up here.
A dark, winged shadow darts out towards him and he dodges, letting out a soft 'tch' of irritation. It vanishes again, and Thanatos frowns.]
I find it hard to believe these things have been entirely missed by the people living here.
[OTA] Sword Practice
(He'll replace it later, he promised the staff earlier when they were looking slightly worried.)
Near to him, a large scythe is laid on a bench with the blade hanging off the end, balanced on the ground. It's a ridiculously large weapon, though one that is unmistakeable if someone happens to have seen it in the hand of its owner.
He's distracted enough that he won't notice, at first, if someone happens to lay a hand on the scythe (the size of it makes it unwieldy and hard to move easily). Or maybe you'd just like to watch the man working on his swing? Or perhaps ask him to spar.]
(( than doesn't wear his full greek god get-up in Avalon very often now, so he'll be in loose trousers and barefoot/bare chested here ))

Minato held out his hand and with a pin he had started to carry with himself, he pricked his finger deeper enough for it to bleed quite a bit. Staring at the scythe, he began to use his own blood to try and make something similar. More his size and, hopefully, solid enough. It would probably take a lot of blood but he didn't start out with something huge just yet. He still needed to master even using his blood like this in the first place. Don't worry, Than, he won't get any blood on the scythe!
Probably.]

It's only when he shifts postion and sees out of the corner of his eye that a young man is standing there carefully constructing a weapon using blood magic that he stops and looks over with a faintly bemused expression.]
What are you planning to do with that?
no subject
To fight. I can't always expect to have a sword with me.
[Being able to make up with his own blood seems pretty convenient to him. He frowns as the weapon still refuses to take shape. A sword should be easy enough! Even with the blade before him as a reference (he knows it's a scythe, but it's something to look at). He never was good at arts and crafts in school.]
no subject
He watches the young man for a moment, following the line of his attention. With a small gesture he rights the scythe from the bench, leaving it stood on its end and floating a few inches off the ground.]
If you're trying to create a sword, this isn't the best model.
[The scythe is... ridiculously large when it's stood, with the top of the blade standing at over seven feet.]
no subject
I know. But I wanted to practice shaping it.
[Seeing it standing up made him realize it was a lot bigger than it appeared. Minato was short enough as it was, but wow. This thing was huge!]
I'm... not good at making things.
no subject
[For distracting him, that is. Thanatos pulls the scythe into his hand and then, with a momentarily tense expression of concentration, blinks it entirely out of existence.
Hopefully Zagreus wasn't standing where he just teleported it to.]
Keep trying.
[And then he offers his sword instead, which is probably a much better base for making a sword than a scythe is.]
no subject
Don't you need it for practice? How did you make it disappear?
no subject
[They were already nervous about the sword and his absolute brutalisation of the training block.]
And it was what they call kinetic magic. Short range teleportation. Nothing too difficult.
no subject
[He didn't have kinetic magic and he hadn't met anyone yet with it. But from what he understood, it was moving objects around like telekinesis. He didn't realize teleportation was involved too. That seemed pretty handy.
After another moment's pause, he nodded and reached out to take the sword. It was a type of sword he wasn't entirely used to, having used mostly katanas in the past, but he wasn't really aiming to use it either. He just wanted a good subject to practice making a sword with (or something close to one, anyone).]
Thank you. I'm Minato.
no subject
Minato would find the sword to be far heavier than Thanatos' light grip on it makes it look, and he does make sure the youngster has a firm grip on it before he lets it go.]
Thanatos.
no subject
What will you use to train with if I'm using this to practice blood magic?
[He was pretty curious and the guy had really good skills with the sword, he likely did with his scythe too. He wielded them both so easily it seemed.]
no subject
I can take a break.
[Strange words to hear from the God of Death, and stranger still to hear himself say them... but he's feeling the strain of the last couple of hours through his arms and shoulders and no doubt a break would do him good.]
So, take your time.
no subject
He looked at the man called Thanatos before him now. He looked nothing like Ryoji. Nor did he look like Ryoji's true form as Thanatos either. It left him with a pang of sadness in his chest, but he pushed it down. Maybe one day he'll see Ryoji again. Besides, this Thanatos seemed nice enough, if a lot more stoic.]
Okay. Uh, thank you again. Just... let me know when you want it back?
[Because obviously he wasn't going to keep it, but he also didn't want to hog it either. Hopefully he could get the shape well enough to be able to practice without a reference piece. In fact, he tried to imagine the size of the sword he used to wield alongside the look of the one in his hand. He let out the blood from his pricked finger and began trying to get it take shape. A lot straighter than a scythe, so a little easier to form. But now for the blade...]
no subject
He glances up at the question, his thoughts having already grown somewhat distant, and gives a small shrug.]
I have nowhere to be.
[And isn't that strange, too. To have nowhere to be. Nothing pressing to attend to. Still such a peculiar feeling, but he's getting used to it. He watches with veiled curiosity as Minato begins to wield his blood magic again, having no interest in obtaining such power himself but still finding it interesting regardless.]
... How does it feel, to do that?
