i. (You are filled with) Shear Determination
[It sure has been a trying month for some people. Ochako in particular has had a go of it, slowly coming out of the rut she was in through the support and love of those around her. Though she's lost friends, she's been constantly reminded that the ones still here value her and care about her wellbeing. It's been a big help, and shined a bright light on her when she fell into a bit of a dark hole. And now that the new month has started, it's high time she got out and started doing things again. Worked, busied herself, earned her stay in this world (and a bit of coin, too).
Quests are the easiest way to go about that, and while she's not diving headfirst into anything overly dramatic, drama always tends to...lock onto her, or people she knows in some fashion! A casual little bout of shearing some sheep turns upside down when the little creatures start bleating flames and catching things on fire. Ochako's not only attempting to herd the tiny arsonists, but she's also putting out flames with her elemental magic - puffs of ice or rain to douse the flames, orwaterbendingpulling water from barrels or troughs meant for the livestock to drink from.]
Ah, eh...p-please calm down, little sheepies!! It's okay, n-no one's going to hurt, you, promise! The shears don't hurt at all - it's just a little haircut--oh!
[Oh lord, there's another one getting spooked by the buzz of the electric clipper, and shooting fire from its mouth onto another one in line. Ochako is swift to douse the flames, the splash of water spooks that sheep and it in turn barfs embers and...well. Snowball effects. But with fire. Fireball effect??Anyway.
Help.]
ii. Cult Classic
[Welp, after the shear calamity (hurhur) of the sheep debacle, it's late, the sun has set, and Ochako is tired. She's a bit sore, lets out a massive yawn, and is making her way back from the farmlands into the city of Camelot proper. The streets are barren, most people are aware of the rumors about the criminal skulking about at night, causing violent acts and even deaths to innocent people...but Ochako hasn't been out much, kept mostly to herself, and really didn't keep up with gossip or much in the ways of news.
Her own folly, definitely, because she doesn't seem to notice that she's being followed, step matched for step, by someone moving towards her...keeping mostly to the shadows and avoiding the glow of the lamplight. She doesn't stop, per say, but Ochako's pace does slow just a bit as she stretches out and hears her stiff joints crack and pop a little, and her pursuer seems to take the opportunity to act. The lamp above her flickers and suddenly goes out - magic, most definitely - and Ochako finally realizes something is up. Movement, fast, footsteps approaching at a run...
The terrifying visage of a horror mask, a startled yell, the glint of a blade--]
iii. Unicornhole
[Welp, sure is nice to be reminded there are villainous scumbags in any and every world, yup yup. Ochako has no intention to do any sort of poaching, and is instead out to stop anyone she finds trying to poach unicorns for the shitkicker that requested it. However the hell she got wind of this kind of thing...well. Better left unsaid, but she's not here to do anything other than kick ass and take names. And maybe punch something, for good measure.
She's not fully suited up (because SOMEONE still owes her a new pair of boots!), but Ochako does have her headpiece on, and the gauntlets/wrist guards as well. The grappling hooks inside might prove to be a good tool to use to close the gap if anyone tries to flee the scene...and can also be used to deliver a hearty shock now, what with her elemental magic thrown in as well.
But, uh...erm...the whole job itself would be a heck of a lot easier if. Um...w-well--]
Ehe...ehehe--! Ah! Shhh...you're so cute and pretty, but you need to shoo! Go--shoo! [She's practically whisper-hissing, gently pushing at the nose of a unicorn that's nudging her rosy cheeks as if to give her kisses. It doesn't seem to budge, mouthing her hair and nuzzling her shoulders and arms. She moves away, trying to get into a better spot to hide, and comes upon another one that trots after her cutely.] Noo...go away...! I'm trying to save your horns, I--hehehe...no! No more kisses!! Stop!
[WHY ARE THERE THREE NOW?? WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM????
Apparently, and unbeknownst to Ochako, the unicorns can feel emotions, and they're sensing some bad mojo radiating off the young teen, and are drawn toward her to try and make her feel better. Animal therapy or...something.
Friendship is Magic™.]

[Since the sheep she's with have stopped trying to breathe fire and are paying more attention to her, she turns back to them. Remember, she tells herself, just be firm but not mean.]
We just need to shear your wool. It'll be alright. Can you go to the girl over there and line up?
[The sheep are motionless for a moment before they line up in single file and head over to where Ochako is. So far, so good.]
no subject
There, there, see? It's okay now... I bet it'll feel so much nicer when you're all clipped and not burdened with so much fluff. Just hold nice and still now...
[And while the sheep does hold still - stark still, and shaking, from its fear and nerves - a few embers start to spark near its mouth. Ochako tries to shush the little thing gently, petting its head and scritching under its chin. Heavens have mercy, please, just let this go by smoothly! They're going to be here doing this all day if they have to repeat all that nonsense before.]
Shh...it's okay, you're okay now. All done! That wasn't so bad, was it?
no subject
It'll be alright. Don't think about anythin', just look at me. It'll be over soon.
[It's probably best to encourage these sheep as much as possible so they won't set everything on fire again.]
no subject
After about a dozen though, Ochako has to stop, flexing her aching arm and rolling her shoulder with a hiss.]
Eeeh...I-I think we all might need a little break. My arm is killing me!! M-Maybe we should all have a snack and relax a bit before going again, ne? We must've been doing this at least for an hour or two...

[Robyn takes a moment to stretch a bit. She hasn't been doing much more than standing in the same spot and coaxing the sheep into behaving, so she feels pretty stiff.]
I did some helpin' out with the sheep last month, so I thought this wouldn't be that hard...these sheep are pretty different.
[Turns out even sheep can be a hazard if they're able to breath fire.]

[Life in a big city and all that. There are no farmlands or wide, open spaces like this unless one takes a long bus or train ride to the country. Honestly the only other farm animal she's ever interacted with were perhaps horses and cows, and it was only a tiny handful of times on that one island their class did a faux Hero Agency at the one time...]
You're lucky with you animal magic, too, they can listen and understand way better. Ehehe, honestly, all the quests I've been on with animals involved have been kind of...eh. [Awful? Difficult? Both.] A lot. Until someone with that magic type helped me out. A-Anyway, let's head to the barn and get some water and stuff. I could go for a bite to eat, and I think they do organic sandwiches there!
no subject
[Of course, after she met Mebh, Robyn became more familiar with wolves than she ever thought she'd be.]
I guess animals are listenin' to me more...sometimes it's harder when it's an emergency, though.
no subject
Mm, I can imagine. I actually have a friend back home whose quirk was the ability to speak with animals. Even he'd have trouble with ones that were scared or nervous...and always have to talk them down from that point first, before being able to do anything. I think you're both growing, ehehe, if you can do something like that so effectively.
no subject
[Especially since before she came here, she'd gained new abilities from becoming a Wolfwalker, only to have to relearn some other abilities from scratch after arriving in Avalon.]
You're pretty good with yours too, though! It's a good thing you could keep all that fire from spreadin'.
no subject
[Ochako laughs a little. She was certainly the same way, in a sense - having to relearn everything from scratch. Her quirk was with her since she was five years old, it was a part of what made Ochako Uravity - a Hero in training. Not having it, and struggling for the first month or two with her magic...it really shot her confidence quite a bit. But now she's really getting there, able to command her skills sometimes without getting too sick, or more than one element at once, even! And her familiar has gotten more, erm...s-slightly more amiable to work with her.]
Th-Thank you!! I really was kind of just working in a bit of a panic, though, ehehe... I'm not really great for fire rescue, n-not in the sense of putting out the fires myself, so...it was a bit of a learning experience. B-But I'm glad no one was hurt, or nothing was overly damaged.
no subject
[Come to think of it...that gets her curious, since Robyn's own abilities here aren't quite the same as they were back home.]
Can you do that where you're from? Puttin' out fires and stuff.
no subject
Um...w-well, not quite. I'm not specially trained in it. Mostly evacuation and relief after the actual experts put out fires. I can go into a burning building and get people out just fine, or make sure the structure doesn't collapse so others can do the same, but my quirk back home was never meant for putting out fires, no. Not really.
[I mean, she could...theoretically float water canisters or something up in the air and drop or burst them, but that'd be a last ditch effort sort of thing.]
no subject
[That's a term Robyn hasn't heard before, at least in the way that Ochako is using it. Then again, people have come here from all kinds of places...]
So is puttin' out fires and rescuin' people what you do at home?
no subject
[Though not everyone becomes a Hero, almost every person on Earth has some kind of quirk. It's rarer now, more than ever, for people to not have them.]
Mm, yeah!! But we also do kind of mundane stuff, too... Finding lost pets, keeping beaches and parks clean, search and rescue for lost individuals, and of course stopping crimes like basic theft, hit and runs, stuff like that. We kind of do a lot of stuff, actually, ehehe. I guess we're a lot like, uh...problem solvers!
no subject
And...where you're from, girls can do all those things?
[Robyn has gotten used to having more personal freedom during her time here, but back home she'd already been ridiculed for wanting to be a hunter like her father.]
no subject
[...Oh. Oh. Shit, Ochako never really even had it dawn on her until now that there could very well be people she talked to that came from worlds where women were still treated as being "lesser" than the male sex. Despite herself, Ochako's face twists into a scowl that might rival her surliest classmate, for just a second, then she shakes her head to rid herself of it.]
...Yeah, girls have a lot more freedom in my world. We're still held to some pretty stupid and outrageous standards, but I think it's way better than what it used to be in the past.
no subject
Er...that's good to know, I guess. It's just...well, me father's a hunter, and back in England he taught me a lot, but after we moved he wouldn't let me help him anymore. I have a lot more freedom here, which is nice.
no subject
Ne, but I'm glad you can do more here in this world now! I don't think anyone would think anything about you going hunting, or doing something that might be seen as something boys would do. And if anyone does give you a hard time, you bop 'em right in the nose! Pow!!
[Ochako, no.]
Or tell me, and I'll do it!! With each fist!
[OCHAKO, NO.]
