Walter does indeed notice the animals following her as though she is one of their own. It continues to be an interesting sight, though not off-putting; the more hands and paws there are to work, the quicker things will go.

And things do go quickly. He helps with the tree, and with other assorted things, and while not everything is fixed by the time they say their goodbyes, they've managed to do a good bit of work for others.
