[Shearing sheep...that takes him back and although it's been a while he heads over. Even if he can't, he can at least use his magic to try and help keep them calm. So for shearers, Eustace can assist some of the nervous sheep, quietly speaking to them and stroking their heads to keep them calm. And he'll also give some advice.]
You need to get all the way down to the skin and be quick about it, so don't hesitate. Be firm or it'll just come out jagged and you'll have to do it over. The faster you are the, less time they'll be like this and remain stressed.
And watch its right side—seems like it's more sensitive there. Could be a skin irritation, but we can treat it after it's been sheared.
[He'll call out any other such problematic spots a sheep might have. Sensitive leg, ticklish belly, don't be too rough, don't be too gentle—being able to hear and understand the sheep certainly has its benefits.]

[If it's not one set of idiots it's another...
Having recovered from his injuries from last month, Eustace will take this as a prime opportunity to "warm up" and get back into it. Although there had been no deaths, it's clear the guy is being too reckless. Except with him sticking to the rooftops in the late evenings and around the places the incidents have occurred, it wouldn't be too unusual for him to be momentarily be mistaken. Especially when he's always wearing his own cloak.]

⊗ c: tdm - the fighting badass
[Zombies and undead... Well he's used to fighting them, but carrying back their remains? Not the most pleasant thing, but a job's a job and it's something he can do. He needs the exercise, anyway.
1. Combat. Although he'll plan on going solo, he won't helping anyone who is also dealing with the zombies. And wouldn't you know, lightning is fairly effective against them. Not wanting to push himself too, he's setting himself on a high point and sniping down the zombies, shooting lightning down immobilize and down them. Should he have someone that's more close combat, he'll be careful with his shots and let them finish it off.
2. Night watch. For the journey back, Eustace will be definitely guarded and alert on the captured remains. If camping out with someone, he'll secure the bags or boxes used to hold them and eye them warily.]
It would be better if there was some kind of sealing magic... Go ahead and sleep, I'll keep watch.

[Considered the Take to the Skiesish prompts but he'd need some convincing to drink the vials. Should anyone want to take that up, I'll be game for any of the other prompts (flying, catching stars, giant bats). If interested in anything else not included here, just hit me up on
laenavesse or discord and we can work something out!]

[He only matches her look with a hard one of his own. It's not as if he's trying to belittle her skills, but he has some valid concerns. Especially considering the lengths these people have already shown in taking a squad of knights to be part of their group.
And when his gaze follows hers and he sees the unsurprising behavior of a few patrons towards the girls...that annoyed, unsettling feeling returns. Again, he knows Tifa could just punch them if they crossed too far, and really that should be more than enough for him to not care.
But in the end, he still finds himself not liking it for whatever reason. Maybe it's because she's a friend?
—Ah, yes, that's it. Unlike if this were Ilsa, Beatrix, or Zeta, women he knows and has more confidence in them doing their part, Tifa is...different. It's a little more...
...Personal...?
...
Whatever, not the time. He's still not bothering to hide his displeasure about this whole thing, even if a part of him knows he shouldn't be treating her any differently and that he should trust she can do it.]
But fine, if this is what you want to do, do it. [He then takes his drink and downs it all in one go before slamming it down on the table. He does notice the taste somehow stronger than before, but he just ignores it and stands.] I'll get their attention.
[When did he start letting his emotions get in his way, dammit— Let's just get this over with.]
no subject
Tifa does the same, throwing back the entirety of her drink, but it takes her a moment to compose herself again. It's so sweet, but also very bitter, and sour at the same time, and it makes her face scrunch. Whoever is mixing these drinks could learn a thing or two about making them—it doesn't have to involve throwing in every single thing they've got behind the bar to make a cocktail... holy Shiva's tits.
Tifa rises from the booth and leans over the table, taking a look around. There's a woman in a cat costume who's wandering around near the other end of the room, at the back where there are less patrons. She looks bored and like she doesn't want to be there—the perfect target for her.]
I'll go grab all that off her. [Tifa gestures to the woman with a nod.] After that, you get the guards' attention and I'll see if I can find the back entrance. Got it?
[It's probably for the best. She may or may not realize it, but she's planning this out so that she and Eustace spend as little time near each other as possible, so this works out perfectly...]
no subject
ventlet his head cool.]Just don't take too long.
[He doesn't even look back at her before he starts walking into the crowds, disappearing into it like a shadow. Perhaps it's due to the other non-humans mixed in, but he can actually blend in fairly well. However, although she might not be able to see him, he'll be keeping an eye on her as he slowly makes his way to his targeted destination.]
no subject
[It's all she says before Tifa starts to wander off, slipping past the people on the dance floor to get to the other end. A few of the male strippers try to get her to stop, but she gently lets them down, waving them off with awkward apologies.
She'll disappear around a corner, following the girl, but there isn't much of a commotion after that. She manages to get pieces of the costume off of her with some work—namely, the drinks and the tray as well as the cat ears that she slips onto her head before she slides back out onto the dance floor.
Across the room, she tries to search for Eustace, to at least make eye contact and let her know that she's ready...]
no subject
By now he had reached the heart of the dancing crowd, having to grit and bear the unwanted touches and stares as he passed through. So the moment he sees her, he puts his rather simple but will prove to be effective plan to action.
With everyone already have drunk on alcohol, music, and lust, it's cakewalk for him to trip, pull, and push several people at once, causing them to fall into each other before he slips back into the crowd. Because of how many people there are, it causes a bit of a domino effect, and soon people are shouting and throwing punches, blaming each other for the falls. Although not intended, tempers flare even higher due to some...unfortunate compromised positioning some found themselves in.
Well, not his business. He's already walked away and only needs to hear the sounds of the brawl breaking out to know it's enough. Another glance confirms that several of the guards and bouncers are making their way through, and by the time they reach the crowd, Eustace has slipped out of it and into the shadows.
...Should he come around and meet with Tifa? Or just stay out here to monitor...
...
Recalling how avoidant she had been of him, he ends up just sticking to where he is. He did his part, now it's her turn to do hers.]
no subject
Well, she has no time to waste. With one last "are you serious" look at Eustace, because when she meant a distraction, she didn't mean one at this magnitude, she turns around and starts to speedwalk her way around the perimeter, pushing and pulling on doors as she goes before she reaches the one that a guard had been standing at. It clicks, and... well, let's just say that the moment she passes through, she knows that this is where she needs to be.
There are barred doors on the other end, with a stairwell leading down, not to mention the cages that are hanging around this so-called office. This must be where the woman does her business... and pleasure? Well, anyway. She has to use magic to freeze and kick the door off its hinges, and down she goes into the pitch black, following what she assumes is the flickering of candlelight at the bottom.
And oh boy, what does she find? Her face twists with disgust, but she reassures those knights that are awake and look up at her with pleading eyes that she's here to get them out, and that she doesn't work for the owner.
Eustace's phone will buzz after several minutes with a text from Tifa.]
I found them. They're all handcuffed and chained to the walls, and in cages... Think you can keep the distraction going a little longer?
[This is going to take a while.]
no subject
There isn't much for him to do other than monitor the scene. Because of the large crowds and so many intoxicated, it's not easy for them to break up the fight. Some patrons are even thrown out, which is actually better for them. Although it would be best for them to be able to sneak out unseen, Eustace has a feeling they'll need to prepare for the worst case scenario. More bodies will just cause more problems later on.
When most of the chaos has gotten under control that Eustace slips out his phone to check the time. He can see how some of the guards and strippers are heading to the back, likely to heal their own sustained injuries. She's been down there for a while... He needs to warn her and then figure out another diversion, but it's then that he gets her text message.
Although relieved to get an update, his expression grows a bit pensive. He isn't so surprised that she's finding difficulty even if he hoped otherwise. He quickly texts a reply—]
Got it.
[—and looks around. Causing another fight...will be more difficult now, so he looks at the main stage with a frown. Perhaps if he shorted the stage, he could cut half the lights...but then they might go to the back where the rest of the controls are.
It's then that he feels a strange chill up his spine right before there's an unwanted touch on his shoulder along with an all too smooth voice in his ear. Immediately he slams his elbow into their face before grabbing their arm to throw them to the ground, and there's a pained shout as he turns to realize it was one of the strippers.
...Well, not that it's any better, but he's more surprised that that didn't knock them out immediately, proving that they are not human. But it's creating more attention to him. However, an absurd thing came out of the stripper's mouth:
"You have to replace me!!"
Excuse him, what?
"That's the rule," someone suddenly adds behind him, making Eustace immediately turn around to see a few others had arrived. "Hit one of them, take their place." Inwardly he clicks his tongue, debating whether he should just take them all out, but he can feel more eyes on him. Perhaps he's even gained the attention of the "queen" of this place. That's when an idea—as absurd as it is—comes to mind.
Tifa needs a distraction. What better way to keep all eyes on him?
...
.....................
It makes him sick to his stomach, but if it's by his own rules he can probably handle it. No one said he had to actually strip and they seem depraved enough to enjoy some reverse play.
...
.............
He looks over at one of them and just steals the whip attached to their hip. Before they can protest he snaps it to grab their legs and sweep them to the ground.]
Stay down.
[With such a harsh, cold glare they actually shiver.
...
Disgusting.
Anyway, confirming their reactions, Eustace heads onto the stage, loosening a few of his shirt buttons and tussling his hair a bit. He's actually not that proficient with the whip
he's not Ferry, but he can at least do that much. Besides, he only intends to use it as a prop. The moment he snaps it before hoisting it over his shoulder, everyone's attention turns to him....Ugh.]
You.
[He points to the nearest stripper.]
Get up here.
[And so whenever Tifa manages to come out with the knights, she's going to see the absurd sight of Eustace sitting on a chair with several bodies piled up behind and around him—most of the strippers but also quite a few guards and patrons, too. Aside from looking a little ruffled, Eustace just looks...bored.]
...Tsk, you call yourself professionals? Never felt more turned off in my life...
[Apparently however this started, it's now become a challenge to make this "Ice King" aroused. Of course, he never lets them get physically close, and one is now trying to pretend to be a drooling dog, probably assuming he must be part one given his ears. That only makes Eustace frown and grind the heel of his boot into their face.]
Disgusting, next.
[And the moment someone starts to strip he just instantly cracks the whip around their legs to send them to the floor before kicking them away with enough force to send them rolling.]
Waste of my time, next.
[Even more strangely, there is actually a captive audience with some people placing bets. And the ones remaining on the stage... ...Let's just say they actually enjoyed getting stepped on, kicked, and whipped.
Anyway, Tifa hurry up he's completely detached himself and somewhat venting on these people, but there will be a point when he'll get fed up and leave—]
no subject
So, she gets to work freezing the metal, as quick as she can but careful enough that she doesn't accidentally give any of them frostbite. It's a small sacrifice to make, they tell her, but if she can avoid anyone getting hurt in the process, then she'll take it. Still, it'll be a while before she can free them all, and some of them are fine with keeping the chains on their hands in favour of getting out quicker, but at last, with all of them in tow, she leads the way back up out of the weird dungeon and into the club proper.]
Get out of here. We can take care of the rest.
[Some of them tell her that they'd rather stay behind to help, but she refuses, shooing them to the door while she still can, while all eyes are on Eustace.
... Speaking of ...
Where is he?
The fighting and shouting has stopped and instead, an audience has formed around the main stage, including the Queen who seems to be enamoured with whatever the show is. Well, good. It's a decent opening to get the knights out, and so with one last shoo out the door, Tifa turns back around to look for her "partner in crime." Much to the chagrin of the people lining up to watch, she forces her way to the front, only to find—
"Waste of my time, next."
She stumbles past the few men in leather at the front and when she stands upright, she finds herself face to face with him, a whip in his hands and... did he remove some of his clothes!?]
Eustace!?
[Shiva's frostbitten tits, what is going on here???
The crowd starts to cheer, whistle, and whoop at her, with some of the men and women checking her out from behind. One of them pushes her forward again and she catches herself just short of toppling right into Eustace.]
no subject
Anyway, there's a moment of surprise when Tifa suddenly appears, but he can't do much before she's pushed forward. He means back enough so they don't crash, but at least now he can exchange a puzzled look at her before his gaze mobes past her to see some of the knights still straggling to the exit.
Ah. So she managed to get them out.
His eyes move back to lock on hers, and he just gives her a pointed stare, one she should be used to now: Play along.
There's a loud, audible click of his tongue before he lifts the end of the whip so that the tip lightly taps against her chin to lift her face up slightly.]
You're late. I've had to deal with these worthless idiots waiting for you.
[Although his voice is low, it's clearly loud enough for at least those close to them can hear. Again he exchanges a glance with her, his eyes flicking from hers towards the Queen's direction. They don't need to keep up with this for too long, but just enough to get the stragglers out.]
no subject
Tifa's eyes are flitting about, but she remains perfectly still, leaning over him while the audience goes absolutely dead silent, all of them holding onto their cheers and waiting to see what the "Ice King" will do next. Will this be the one that woos him!? She exchanges a glance with him, as if to tell him: fine, but he has a lot of explaining to do later, she moves her eyes to the back of the crowd, where she tries to watch past them to see if the Knights had made their escape. Some of them are still remaining, watching the show instead of leaving, but she can't bring attention to them.
So, instead, she turns her gaze back to Eustace.
And perhaps it's the alcohol buzz finally kicking in, but she's suddenly feeling a little light-headed and dizzy. It could be that she can smell the alcohol in his breath when it tickles her skin, or how he smells like the woods—cedarwood and oak with a hint of citrus and jasmine... She finds herself parting her lips in a quiet sigh, her red eyes meeting his uncovered blue one, and it sends a shiver shooting up her spine.
Yeah, she really needs to stop drinking the alcohol here.
Finally, she speaks, shaking off the thoughts and immediately breaking their eye contact.]
I think I'm right on time.
[What's the plan here...!? She can't stay like this forever!]
no subject
...It's strange how slender it looks and how he can actually sense, almost hear her pulse. ...Hm...
Slowly the tip of the whip slides down from her chin down her neck to stop at the collar around her neck, the touch still very light so it's more like a leathery brush against her skin.]
I should get you a new one...and keep you chained up so you stop running off.
[And then there's a hard yank on her arm to pull her half onto his lap, causing the crowd to gasp.]
no subject
For a while, the entire room seems to come to a complete stop, and it feels like an eternity while the silence lingers, everyone, including her, holding their breaths. Even with the music thumping, Tifa swears she can hear his breathing, and his heartbeat over it all.]
A cat's always gonna look for a way out.
[She would have come up with that quip sooner, if she weren't somehow almost out of breath. And that's when the crowd "ooo's" at them, the men clapping and egging them on.
Well, not for long because a man about double their size with horns stomps up onto the stage and shoves his way past those that are waiting in line, and towers over them. His red eyes fix on Tifa, but she freezes, remaining on top of Eustace, her lips coming close to his ear so that she can whisper.]
A guard?
[Maybe now's the time to drop the act?]
no subject
Except that "Now what?" gets distracted. It's not surprising that he remains silent with little to no reaction, but in the silence that follows he's forced to keep staring up at her. Which, again, not a big deal. But it gives him time. Time to sense and hear more of her pulse. Time to feel the warmth of her breath, the pressure of her hands against his shoulders, and how the soft, long strands of her hair lightly brush against his face. Time to catch the remaining scent of the drink on her breath along with a softer fragrance. Time to stare into those wide, red eyes and for some reason be briefly reminded of other times they've had to be like this.
There's no real thought process occurring, just a sense of absorbing all these details that he never paid much attention to. Or maybe he had noticed, but never really...focused on them as he will later realize after this is over. Later realize that at the time all his attention had been on her and everything had been completely silent.
And then when she speaks, his eyes dart to her lips, watching how they form every word, hearing her voice and how breathless it is. It's his turn to come up with a response or just...end this. He could always just say it's over and have them walk out, it's not like they have to keep going at this rate. But for some reason he just remains locked in place...until he hears the unusual heavy footfalls of something stomping towards them.
Finally his eyes move to glance in its direction as Tifa leans forward to whisper into his ear. Even that is somehow...makes his focus shift momentarily towards her, before he mentally shakes it off and reassesses their situation. He just slightly turns his face towards her so he can quickly murmur:]
Think you can take him out?
[As much as he'd rather them just slip through, it's clear the jig's up. They're in...a sort of weird position, but if it's Tifa, he has a feeling she'll be able to do something.]
no subject
A hand slides around to grip the back of his neck, fingers curling so that they slide up into his hair, nails scratching lightly while she prepares herself, a breath of laughter tickling his ears as she smiles against them. She's playing it up now that the guard is right on them, buying herself half a second before she feels a giant hand on her back.]
You don't?
[Of course she can. What a silly question!
With one last squeeze of her hand on his shoulder, there's suddenly movement. He'll feel all of her weight coming down on him before she propels her body upward, feet coming up behind her into a somersaulting kick, with the ends of her heels colliding with the guard's chin. The crowd gasps and there are screams coming from all around her as someone of them run while others leap right back into the brawl that Eustace had started and ended earlier, but their main focus is on the guard, and the many that are coming to his aid.
She lands behind Eustace's chair and shoves it forward, hoping that he'll know what to do next...!]
no subject
He doesn't even realize he had held his breath until he feels that squeeze on his shoulder, the only thing that breaks him from the odd...distraction before he realizes he needs to brace himself. As soon he does, he finds himself staring up and watching as Tifa sails over him. It's a little stunning, really, how effortlessly she's able to do so.
Well he can't think too much about it. The moment her food connects with the guard's chin, everyone starts rushing in. Now he has a clear view of the guard, but as if sensing Tifa's next action, he just remains seated, hands gripping the chair as his legs swing out to kick the guard down with additional force thanks to the momentum.
He then springs up from the chair and uses the whip to grab the nearest person and swings it hard to make them smash into the now fallen guard before he let's it go and uses the chair to slam it into another. There goes all the props, but he can fight hand-to-hand just fine.
However, due to the large crowd and all the fighting, one of the towering light stands gets knocked into. It sways precariously before it crashes to the ground, crushing a few along with it (but they're monsters they'll be fine). In the process one of the lights flash right into Eustace's line of sight, and because of the sudden flash he's momentarily blinded.]
...!
[Shit—]
no subject
Another one of the guards tries to grab her instead to throw her into the pile of both guards and patrons that's forming on the stage, but she knocks him back into others and topples them all over like bowling pins. Strike!
With them out of the way, Tifa whips around to check on Eustace—]
no subject
—Thanks.
[If only he had his patch...but he had no idea this would happen so he didn't bring it. With his fingers still pressing against his brow a bit, he looks at her.]
My right side is blinded, I'll need you to cover me.
[To think he can freely say this now...]
no subject
[She gives herself a moment to frown at him before she ducks out of the way, allowing what's left of the fight to continue. It's already started to die down with most of the guards focused on the others brawling, so she has the chance to grab him away from the mess. They need to find somewhere to get their bearings. The entrance is all the way at the other end, and Eustace... he's...
Tifa had hoped he followed her off the stage, but she stops dead in her tracks when they come across another group of guards and patrons, all fighting but turning to look at them when they rush down the stairs. What she says is playful, but her tone remains sharp as ever.]
Hello boys...
[Okay, they gotta clear them out somehow...!]
no subject
He's soon right behind her and quickly assesses the situation. There's really only one way through this.]
We're cutting through. Get ready to use those heels of yours.
[And that's all he says before he grabs Tifa's hand.
How does she feel about spinning around? Because he's about to lift her up to do just that.]
no subject
And when she's standing again, Tifa pauses to look around them, hands on her hips.]
Nicely done. Little more warning next time, though.
[It's all she says before she's turning on her heel and rushing away without a second glance back at Eustace.]
Come on.
[She leads the way further into the back, where she found some private rooms they can use to heal up before they even think about making a break for the door. She swings the door open to one and promptly shuts it without a word about what she saw inside, and proceeds further down the hall past the others to the very last one. Thankfully, this one is empty. Inside is a couch, some chairs, a stereo system, a box of Ifrit knows what's inside but from what she can see with a cursory glance, there are some feathers and a whip, several mirrors, some chains on the walls... Not to mention the many other things scattered about that one might find in a VIP room at a stripclub.
Best to just not think about what might have happened in here before this whole mess.
The best thing about this room, however, is that the room is completely soundproof, so it's a good reprieve from the loud thumping of the music. The lighting in the room is a mix of dull white and a deep red, and she can't spot a light switch on any of the curtain-lined walls... It's probably better this way, with Eustace's eye. Speaking of which...]
Your eye. Are you okay?
no subject
[She should be used to his lack of full communication when in the middle of high tense action. Alternatively, it could be a sign that he trusts for her to quickly get the idea and improvise with him.
But off she goes and he's right on her heels. He does wonder where she's taking them. Is this towards an exit or...? Except now she's opening the door and abruptly closing it. Again he looks at the door and then seeing the others...it doesn't take him long to figure it out. But again, what is she doing...?
Before he can ask, however, she's entered a room and he can only follow after her with a puzzled expression...which only increases when he looks inside.
?? ??? ???]
...Yes, but why are we here?
no subject
I don't doubt the exit'll be blocked off, likely by guards.
[She grabs him by the wrist and urges him—no, practically forces him—to take a seat on the couch.]
If we're going to get out of here in one piece, I want to make sure you can cover my ass too.
[That, and she could use a moment to regain her composure. After all that—everything she just saw in the basement, and the way that guard had almost grabbed her before they made a move against him... It's been a lot, and she hasn't had the chance to formulate a decent exit strategy... and make a call to the authorities with the hopes that they'll get here before the two of them are rediscovered.]
Most of the knights got out before everything broke out, but don't think we'll be so lucky...
[Finally, Tifa takes a seat, but doesn't look at him. Instead, she simply motions for him to move his hair aside.]
no subject
He's trying to follow, and what she says makes some sense, but he does take some offense to her doubt about him covering her.]
If you're worried about my sight, it's a temporary condition and I'm still capable of fighting.
[...And he's assuming she wants to look at his eye, which he won't mind, but she's looking away from him.
Again.
...
There's a beat before he slowly leans closer towards her.]
Tifa look at me.
[A few thoughts have occurred to him just then. One is of course her more recent avoidance of him, the one that had for some reason was starting to irritate him as her attitude is now becoming similar to earlier.
But he's also reminded of what happened before with the stalker and how intense things had been. Although different, it's a little similar and he could see that she could have been rattled by everything. Maybe not the same way, but she could still be shaken a bit by all the pressure.
There are some things he can let slide and brush off, and if it's the latter then he won't push. But if this is stemming from whatever has her avoiding him from the start... If the only time she'll look at him is through some weird forced play then he'll really be annoyed—even if he won't know why.]
no subject
Well, she did look at him, but...
Tifa rises to her feet for a moment and there's a loud tearing noise as she rips around the entire length of her dress until she's left with a long strip of cloth in hand.]
Here. This should work until you get home.
no subject
But then she withdraws, and at first it seems like a logical action, but then she's suddenly standing and...ripping the length of her dress???
...............]
Does it bother you that much?
[He's standing now, stepping towards not to grab the cloth but to once again get in her line of vision. Of course his words could be implying his eye, but it's not what he really means.]
