A Knocking We Will Go

[ Elfnein heard about the Dust Bunny problem and was determined to help out by at the very least taking care of the ones near her living space. Her familiar was out and mainly sticking near the broom she had gotten for the task. Of course she had an idea to use alchemy to try and speed this along by writing the symbols on the broom handle and have her friendly familiar pull it’s weight as well. ]

Let’s start with a small area for now to test the power and adjust ok?

[ She was talking to the Alca-noise before pointing the broom at the entranceway.

After the Storm

[ Winter gear, check. Snow shovel, check. Everything was good to go for clearing out the entranceway for a store that was looking for help cleaning up. Elfnein couldn’t do much heavy lifting due to her size, but shoveling snow was something anyway could do.

After double checking that shoes were tied and there wasn’t any ice that would create a slip it was time to start shoveling. ]

Internet Trolls

[ The network posts lately have been full of a weird user harassing people. No one should have to see anything like that if they just wanted to look at simple replies to questions. ]

To the user that has been posting rude replies, I hope you know that I have informed your family about it.

[ That was a big lie, but it was the perfect bait to lure them out and then track from there. ]

[Hikaru should help out because it is true that shovelling snow is something that anybody could do.

Unless you're somebody who has never had to do any actual labour before. Shovelling snow? Never. So when Hikaru means to go into the store that Elfnein is shovelling, he sighs.]

This isn't done yet?

[ The voice saying why isn't it done startled Elfnein a bit and her foot managed to slide on the part she was about to shovel. ]

I-I'm sorry!

[ Though as she's trying to apologize her face is headed right into the snow pile. ]

[Hikaru hadn't meant for that to happen. Had he meant to call her out on not getting this done quickly enough? Absolutely. But not actually have her fall into the snow.

He frowns and offers a hand to help her out just a little sheepishly.]

Didn't mean to scare you. [This is where an apology would go.]

[ She gladly takes the hand and gets back on her feet, brushing off the snow or at least trying to. ]

I should have looked at my surroundings more.

Is it only you doing all this?

[Hikaru isn't much in the way of labor but even he knows this much snow should have more than one person helping? But he also is not offering his services ether.]

It seems like more people are getting larger items and pathways cleared out, so no one else has taken care of the snow.

Why don't you just ask for help, then?

[Says Hikaru who is standing right there and not offering her any help.]

I thought I could manage on my own!

[Hikaru doesn't get it but he also doesn't get offering to do all of this in the first place. Even looking at that shovel, it just fills him with a whole lot of Nope.

But he does have magic? And he knows how to use fire? He opens his palm and a small flame is there.]

I wonder if I could use fire to do this?

Wait, don't do that! If you melt the snow without proper drainage it will just refreeze and cause ice!

Proper drainage? [Why is shovelling snow so much work? No wonder commoners don't have time to do anything. He let's out an annoyed sound.]

What's the point of magical powers if you can't use them?

If you don't drain the water that's caused from the ice melting it will refreeze causing a sheet of ice. So instead of clearing the area it will cause more issues.

[ Now if they could move the water it would be different. ]

Well. I can move water...

[Not that he's worked a lot with it and he's not entirely sure about using it but what can possibly go wrong? ]

If that's the case then if you move the water out of the way then it shouldn't be a problem!

[ Why didn't you say that before? ]

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem...

[But he doesn't sound like it isn't a problem.] So uh, should we try it? [Hikaru isn't about that physical labor life but this doesn't seem like much labor at all.]

We should give it a try, if it works then the pathway is going to be cleared out and if it doesn't then I just have to do it the hard way.

[Fire isn't so hard. He's had experience with fire. It doesn't take long at all for him to be able to produce a flame and direct it like a flamethrower to melt the snow and it works!

But now with all of the water, Hikaru has to take care of that. However, oops, he can't really manipulate actual elements like that. So as he tries to move it, it doesn't work and he's frustrated.] Ugh, it won't work.

Let me think of what to do...

[ The now melted snow needs to be directed out, where could it be sent so it didn't re-freeze. Elfnein already summoned her little alca-noise familiar and started to direct it to put symbols leading to a drainage grate. ]

I hope this fixes it.

[ Turning some of the water into ice again and making a path that only led to the drainage system. None of the extra water would be able to refreeze on the road if it all went well. ]
